I am currently looking for a doctor and after reading all the reviews. I already know what I would have to deal with. Penn Medicine has an amazing staff of doctors. But, Im sadden only to hear that the front desk staff make it a bad experience for families. Penn Medicine needs to do better and have some sensitivity training completed by their staff.

I’ve been going to this office for years and have been wanting to switch. The only reason I stay is because they merged with penn healthcare. However this office is terrible. The doctor I see is fine , but the frontline people which the front desk and the rest of the staff is horrible. They are rude, and act As if your bothering Them. I’m shocked penn allows the demeanor that you encounter when trying to make a appointment or even be seen. They never answer the phone when you call to try to make a appointment. They desperately need a whole new staff.

Great physicians! They are all very thorough and I love that we are able to be seen as a family. However, the reviews are correct. We have been here for about a year and I absolutely hate dealing with the front desk female staff. They are rude, obnoxious and lazy. Long hold times on the phone. It is the worst feeling in the world to be sick and need a same day/next day appointment and have them handle your needs. They all need training on how to deal with community/family after all it is a practice. I requested a same day appointment- was given one for an afternoon time. Asked if I can come the next day in the morning instead as the appointment was smack in the middle of school pick up and I did not want to be late. I was told they had no more sick appointments for the day and I would have to call again the next day to see what will be available as they are Same day only. How absurd? For pediatrics?

A doctor stated she seen me on a day I was at work when I called to talk to them about how can she say she seen me on a day I was at work the reception act like I was bothering her and for some reason she wasn’t understanding I haven’t been to the practice in over a year because they don’t take my health insurance. I’m glad I found a new doctor office in Upper Darby & I also found a better office with Penn down 36th St. University City could really use some customer service lessons. Smh

Dr. Ando and the entire team of receptionists, nurses, etc are extremely personable, knowledgeable, and organized. And on top of all that, Ive never spent longer than 5 minutes in the waiting room. Ive seen quite a few doctors in my day and I HIGHLY recommend this practice... so much that I took the time to write my first online review... ever.

I have been going to Penn family medicine for years now. It has a nice family environment. The doctors are nice and caring. The staffing there are very nice. The only thing I dont like is that you cant get and appointment when you need to see a doctor. And that they have you on the phone a long time to tell you that there all booked.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my doctor (Dr. Ando), but most of the negative reviews below are accurate. Front desk staff and appointment staff are usually rude, dismissive, and condescending. I usually have a problem scheduling an appointment within a reasonable time frame, let alone a “sick”, same day appointment, so I wind up asking for the office manager May. She is a sweetheart and she usually assists with my complaints in the best way she can. If not for these two, I would have switched providers a long time ago, but I prefer keeping me and my daughter’s records at the same place. Usually smaller doctor offices will establish a rapport with their patients and work with you, but not here.

This location is horrible from the front desk staff to the doctors! How do u offer Sam day services but NEVER have same day appointments. If you are 5mins late you will either have to sit and wait all day or make another appointment for months far out! They need to burn down this location and restaff it ASAP!!!!

We love Kate Flemming. However, it is hard to make an appointment quickly. It is near impossible to get a stroller in and I wasnt allowed to use the handicap entrance for the stroller. I was turned away with a one month old baby for missing his appointment by 1 minute. Even in tears, they turned me away. We might have to switch which is a hard decision because we love Kate.

The quality of care has gone down severely. While the front desk is getting better in terms of responsiveness and organization, I found my NP to be rushy and dismissive. During the last several appointments, she seemed irritated by my questions and also denied re-running certain blood tests or going over test results with me, when I asked. I made a complaint to the office and asked to change doctors. They told me to please be advised that the other doctors may not go against my doctors wishes. There is definitely some implicit bias going on over there. I’ve moved on.

The doctors here are great, however the people who answer the phones and messages, are rude and incompetent. The amount of time I’ve had to wait for referrals, and left messages for my doctor only to never be called back, is ridiculous. They really need to up their customer service game.

You can only call between 8-8:30am to make an appointment same day. You would be lucky if during that half hour you even get through without being hung up on or find out they are full for the day. I love my doctor at Penn family Medicine but the office staff are so extremely unfriendly and unhelpful that I am looking for a new doctor. Anytime I need help getting an appointment, refilling a medication, or getting paperwork it becomes a whole ordeal even if I’ve discussed it in advance with my doctor. In addition, the office is filthy. They are in the process of building a new office but that doesn’t mean they can’t clean the current one. While getting my blood taken the staff told me to wait while they finished texting which gave me time to noticed the cabinets and seating were covered in grime.I’m truly disheartened reading the many reviews that all say the same thing. What is it going to take for something to change at this office?

My entire family have been coming to UCFM for over 15 years. There were good and caring doctors. My fathers doctor even came to his funeral! Parking is much easier since they have the 2 hrs parking permit. Front desk staff were efficient and helpful. I always got the appointments time which I needed. The appointment staff were courteous and helpful. Dr. Kaya Oyejide is good and caring. The other physicians are good too. I always gave feedbacks after my visits which would help improving the healthcare service.

The doctors have been absolutely wonderful and I love them, but the front desk and appointment line people are some of the nastiest, least helpful people I have interacted with. Every time I call they are not helpful and are disrespectful. It is shameful that a leader like Penn Medicine cant find front desk help that is professional. It is a horrible that such good doctors are working with a sub-par system. It really bothers me as a medical professional the way in which the non-medical front desk staff treat patients. There is no excuse for bad attitudes. It degrades the value of primary care, which is so important yet in this circumstance more painful and less respectful than just going to an urgent care facility.

Ive been going to this practice for far too long - the only reason I go is because its close to my house. Docs are fine, but the receptionists are HORRIBLE! Whenever I call, I can count on between five and ten minute hold times before I get to talk to someone and when I do finally get a person on the line, 9 times out of 10 they are unhelpful and usually rude. Im usually sorry I called.

Great doctors (five stars for Drs. Ando, Oyejide, & Hart), five stars for the wonderful nursing staff, and NEGATIVE ELEVEN STARS for their scheduling, billing, and phone systems. We moved here from Boston, where we loved our small community health center. But this is awful.Either this place is horrible managed, or their systems are terrible, or they are taking way more patients than they can handle. Again-- the doctors and nursing staff are A+, and we wish we could continue seeing Drs. Ando, Oyejide, and Hart (no experience with the others). But if I cant schedule a pediatric appointment for my son unless I call at 8am tomorrow, and they readily admit that when I call at 8am I am usually on hold for 20+ minutes (no joke-- they said, yes, youre on hold for a long time because everyone is calling at 8am), this is not going to work for us.And hold up: they need me to show up FIFTEEN minutes before every appintment, even though weve never been late or no-showed for an appointment? And there hasnt been a single appointment (for me, or for my son) where Ive waited less than 20 mintutes after arriving? Bull-oney.We spent almost six hours at the ER with our son last night because we couldnt get (preventative/non-emergency!) care on a timely basis from this place. AVOID, unless you are trying to burn through a few extra hours of your free time.
