First time going to the weave bar and luv’d how my hair came out! Denise did my sew in .. thanks again, Marty!

This review is meant to give the business feedback because I think its important to support small and minority businesses. I have patronized the Germantown Weave Bar before and had a good experience, but this was my second time patronizing the West Philadelphia location for a wash and full weave (previously only did a weave maintenance). Unfortunately, my most recent experience at the W. Philly location was disappointing in the ways I will outline below:1) Only 2 hair stylists at the W. Philly location when I went as a walk in (arrived like 30 mins before opening) so it was a long wait once in the store. This seems to be the norm for this location (Ive seen 3 at max), and they reach capacity by the time the store opens at like 5 guests.2) The manager didnt show up (at least while I was there), and the hairstylists cant run the credit card payment system, which meant those of us without cash had to leave the store to find an ATM.3) One of the hairstylists (the one near the front) was SOOOOO rough on my coils while combing after the wash! I heard my poor ends ripping. She blamed it on my split ends, but I thought I was going to meet my maker the way she yanked on my hair. Should have walked out there and then but I had a photo shoot coming up and needed my hair done asap.4) For my frontal, the hairstylist proceeded to put GLUE ON MY FOREHEAD without even asking me first in order to secure my closure. No tint spray or anything, and no styling of my weave. Ive had a closure done by a different stylist at the Germantown location who laid that closure flat without glue. I literally bought a new closure on my way home, cut off the old closure when I got home, and watched an amazing YouTube video on how to sew a closure down. I impressed even myself!5) Im all about secure cornrows, but the stylist braided them TOOOOOO tight. I couldnt even think! And because there had been no scalp oiling after the wash, and my scalp was being pulled to heaven, it was dry, inflamed, and flakey within 1 week. The itching became embarrassing and so intense that by day 8, I begged my mom to cut out my entire weave and closure at 1 am in the morning and proceeded to do a thorough wash and condition which relieved the itching. $165 gone just like that!Again, I have had good experiences at the Germantown Weave Bar, but their walk in lines are always way too long which is why I tried the West Philadelphia location. However after this last experience, I wont be going back there, and will just stick with the one stylist I had a good experience with and try to book ahead of time to avoid ever walking in again.Continuing education is something many professionals need to do in their fields, and I think hair salons need to engage in continuing education for their hairstylists, and best practices for hair care, especially black hair care, to avoid common pitfalls experienced at the hands of stylists.

LICENSED UNPROFESSIONALS!!! Stolen pieces of my bundles 3times and they will say they dont know where it went or that they didnt cut it. I will post the cut track of hair when I finish taking out this particular style. Also, I asked the stylist to put my hair in a certain place due to headaches. She put where I told her not to and only used 3hairpins! There was a gap at the top and tracks coming through after 2 days. Prior Id had to come back for spaces in my sew in or for them to level out my bob cut. Its not right that some take your hair and I will never justify poor work or stealing with.. you get what you pay for. PLEASE do better ladies. Ppl literally are entrusting you with their time, hard earned money and their hair.

Have been waiting almost 2 hours for my hair to be started. All to e stylist keep stopping showing the other stylist things on their phones, talking extremely loud (10 in the morning), and lallygagging. Don’t allow you to make appointments past Wednesday so you are forced to wait for them to take you. All in all unprofessional in my eyes

Okay so I went towards the end of March &I brought three bundles with me. I PAID FOR THREE BUNDLES TO BE INSTALLED The girl IN THE LAST CHAIR ACROSS FROM THE HAIR DRYERS DONE MY HAIR WOULDNT LET ME LOOK IN THE MIRROR, AS I WAS DONE I ASKED DID YOU USE ALL THREE BUNDLES SHE SAID YES & GAVE ME A LIL INCH BACK.. TODAY I TOOK MY HAIR OUT ITS ONLY TWO BUNDLES

Unbelievable, top pic was done from the weave bar, bottom pic I had to go home and reinstall my frontal. I had to school the young lady on how much tint spray to use and how to lay it. She also cut the right side of my frontal which was over $150.00 not including my bundles. Management was a help and very polite, still waiting to get my hair done and today is Sept 30. Eventually I had to cut my frontal into a 5x5 in order to maintain it until the weave bar do their part as promised.

I’m use to the Germantown location but couldn’t get a sooner appointment so I decided the next location. For my first time at that 52 street location, I was extremely anxious. But I got so lucky to have the stylist, Jasmine Nachae do my signature weave she blended it so well the hands of an Angel she hooked me up. No complaints.

Loose tracks, bad attitudes and side conversations while standing over the customers head. The quality of the finished hair matches the neighborhood, which is poor and lack of care. My stylist seemed to be playing in my hair rather than braiding for install. She asked for help braiding my natural hair because it was to thick and long.....isnt that the basics of your job??? Stay away.

This was my first time here on a Thursday after work no less. I went to the West Philly location. I was thoroughly impressed. I was in and out in less than 2 hours. Sew in weave looks amazing! My stylist Rosa was very attentive, professional and made me feel like a real queen! This is now my favorite weave salon hands down. Its an absolute gem. I couldnt believe the price for the service. Ill be back on the regular. Many thanks!

The manager charged me $105.00 for a regular deluxe hairstyle, which according to their prices should have been $65.00. If she did this to me then she is probably be doing to others. I want to make the owner aware of this, it is stealing and she should not be allowed to get away with this.

Ive been going to this location for 7 years and its always a great experience. My hair always looks bomb and the staff is friendly and efficient. I travel all the way from Delaware to Philly because the end result is worth the commute. Two thumbs all the way up!

My stylist was Erica about a year or so ago and about 3 weeks ago it was Rosa..... I loved my hair and I loved both girls. The girl at the 1st chair re-curled my hair this week because Rosa was not there and I loved those tight curls she gave me. Im satisfied. Ill see Rosa again next week.

I call and asked for a sew in... she said were taking walk ins ..I asked could I be seen right away she says yes! I get there 45 min after Calling and spending 35 in a Uber for her to say it’s a waiting list of 10 people! I read the reviews and tried to go off of maybe that’s not the case... but the receptionist needs to be replaced... my 13 yr old walks in as well ahead of me ..she says wassup wassup she walks pass the desk.. this was my first 20 second experience with here, and I most likely won’t be returning ... 1 star b/c it looks nice in the inside.. but even the stylist don’t even greet you when come inside ... ALWAYS GO BY YOUR REVIEWS ...

I have been here more than a handful of times, over the years. I have seen hairstylists come and go. The few times that I was there, 2 hairstylist finished my hair and thought that I did not see them STEAL the rest of the hair and put it in their drawers. This happened TWICE while I was there. You will NOT get your moneys worth with this salon. This is not a professional business. It’s almost as if they hire friends, family, anyone they know, off the street. This place is G H E T T O!!!

These people are completely unprofessional from the manager down to the stylist..... I had an appointment for Monday the 20th ( 07/20/20 ) I had to wait for another stylist bc mine cancelled at last min ...( the manager was soo nasty about it ) .... my hair is short so I needed to be Molded down..... I left the salon with wet hair , slipping tracks and lifted lace .... it is Wednesday and all my tracks are off and my lace was up .... I do hair myself and I’m sooooo disappointed in myself for even payin all that money to let someone play in my head ... this was a waste of my money and time .....

This businessman is a terrible neighbor. Rude and dirty staff who are mean to neighbors and dont clean the area in front of the shop. Extremely loud inappropriate music which can actually be heard and felt by neighbors through the walls and ceiling. When asked to turn the music to more reasonable levels for 9 and 10 am the very unprofessional manager actually turns the music up. Even the customers complain about the music and yelling and have to step out and take their calls when the place is too loud. The staff can be heard talking negatively about customers and neighbors and cursing around children in the establishment. Staff parties after hours and drinks in the facility. The owner has been addressed and doesnt care. Customers come out unhappy all the time. This place is ratchet and I dont reccomend it. Honestly I hope they go out of business.

My sew in is very secure my tracks are just placed wrong. Its nice hair, so it just looks like Im wearing a helmet. Bulky look.. I dont knock it but for $100 Id like not to flaunt a helmet.

This is 2days after hair was done. I didn’t know it was glued to my forehead only when is was supposed to be a 360 sew in, and the price they charged me was crazy and wrong and I even asked the price 1st in the end it changed but I’m God’s child so I paid it but I’ll keep getting blessings. Because greedy people and wrongdoing gets you nowhere. In the end they lose more rather than gain. Just know not to go there. Also don’t let them know u from out of town cause the will really charge you a lot. They changed for sew in where is it glue I see for almost $300 bull....

I came here a couple months ago and unfortunately I had a really bad experience. My stylist was EXTREMELY unprofessional to the point where I almost wanted to walk out. She took forever to start my hair, and when she finally did she kept stopping to text every 10 minutes or to do some random unnecessary activity. At one point she was just sitting down on her phone near the receptionist paying me no mind. I felt so disrespected by the lack of consideration for my time as a paying customer. I dont think stylists like these realize how much of a negative impact they can have on their reputation, their career, and more importantly the business as a whole. They probably arent thinking that the client will go write a whole review about them, but I hope this is a wake up call to any stylist who reads this. The lady across from me started at the same time as me and this is no exaggeration when I say she finished nearly an hour before me for a similar style. I just kept looking at the stylist who was working on the other ladys hair wishing I was in her chair instead, and she is the only reason why I am giving this review 2 stars instead of one. She seemed awesome. My stylist however, how does management allow this level of professionalism to occur in their salon? I understand there is a certain relaxed culture at hair salons sometimes, but this was completely unacceptable and to top it off I was not even pleased with the final results. My sew in was not flat and I got a closure so you know it HAS to be flat to look right. I do not know her name, but she was lighter skinned at the first chair next to the front desk on the upper level of the salon, and I really suggest that management takes this review and the other negative ones seriously to improve the quality of their customer service. I hope my next visit is more pleasant, if I ever come back which I probably wont unless I make an appointment with my desired PROFESSIONAL STYLIST.Ps. Thank you to the professional stylist who was diagonally across from me because customers truly appreciate your services and level of professionalism. Its a little ratchet but the girls there are friendly. Jasmine does great hair! sometimes you can get in and out sometimes your there all day. Its best to make an appointment.

It makes me sad to see such a beautiful place go to waste because of Bad Customer Service Skills . I visit this place often I brought my daughters including myself , I brought wine so that everyone could just relax enjoy each other . I always leave good tips and I travel 1hr to get to this shop having to come in to deal with someone nasty attitude . For some reason this young lady that is always at the desk have a really bad attitude, she is always fixing her make up, popping her gum . Unfortunately because of her I will not be returning to this place . I have made complaints about this young lady an she still the same .

I came to this location because the Temple location was closed. This will be the biggest regret of my life. The guy name Dominic did my hair. This was the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. To start of he was extremely rough with my whole head from start to finished. He tugged and pulled so roughly at my natural hair that I felt like I did something to him personally. When it came to sewing the hair in he was so rushed and rough that he stuck me with the needle. When he combed my hair he scrapped the comb across my face several times. I felt his actions where done on purpose. When I told him the weaving was a little tight his response was one of the rudest response I ever heard. He said to me next time just tell me dont make all that huffing The quality of his sew in was poor. He left bulkage in the front on both sides of the part. I have been to the weave bar before and loved my last few experience but this left me speechless. Dominic was the rudest person I have encountered. I left in tears.

The Weave Bar is very unprofessional. They play loud rap music all day long . The manager at the front desk is horrible . The stylists upstairs talks about the clients .There manager attitude sucks! I only went there to see Erica . She is the best so professional and can do great hair .She moved from Temple Location and lost contact . If anyone is reading this PLEASE give me her information

Dana did my hair she did a pretty good job... Hey for 50 bucks it it met my expectations... When I call to inquire about services the guy that answered the phone with a tad bit rude I was trying to explain to him that I didnt have a credit card to book online appointment and he told me if thats the case I need to come on a walk in day. the only other negative thing I would say is that if you do not have an appointment it can be an awfully long wait. If I had to I will go back there again however I wouldnt go out of my way to be a return customer.

This is the most unprofessional hair salon that I ever and will never go back too. I walked in said Good Morning, and the girl didnt even acknowledge me, all she said is do you have an appt? I said yes, and she directed me upstairs to the desk, still not acknowledging me. Then up at the desk, again I said Good Morning, and she said what time is your appt. I said, Good Morning again. With no answer. These girls are rude and ignorant, and know nothing about hospitality or working with the public. The girl that did my hair did a horrible job!! She cut my hair uneven, and I have a 1.5 inch gap between sew in tracks on one side. She screamed in my ear the entire time she did my hair talking to the other girls in the shop. This is the most ghetto, ratchet salon I ever seen. I will NEVER come back.

Youll get a great hairstyle for a very reasonable price. Ive gone on numerous occasions. I always walk away satisfied. The only thing I would recommend is to get there early on walk-in days because the shop gets busy. There is no gauging how many people will come since no appointment is needed. My suggestion is bring some entertainment because you may be waiting for awhile.

I’ve been coming here for years, between here and the gtown location. Been seeing the same stylist since before she started working there. No complaints with the service. Environment is what you expect, I guess. However their prices aren’t clear. I was told a signature style is just the install, no cut. Online it says otherwise. When I said this to the receptionist I was told it says “no trim” for that service (I double checked as I leaving and I was correct) This is my 2nd time having this issue & to avoid conflict I paid. I think the website should be updated to reflect wether or not a “traditional” comes with a trim so it’s no confusion and I’m not paying extra because I want to not be a difficult client.

This place is hit or miss. Ive come out of here completely satisfied twice since Ive been going. They make your braids under your sew in too big and the sew in ends up looking lumpy and unnatural. Makeda is really nice but shes not good at sew ins. The braids are always bulky and she doesnt follow directions. There are a few other stylists who are also iffy. I guess it depends on their mood. My hair is usually ok if I go home and fix it up myself but I shouldnt have to. I think Ill start going to Germantown from now on.

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE! Avoid if possible....I went there alil while ago to get my hair done for my birthday.... I definitely wish I read reviews first! They destroyed 3bundles of hair. They have no idea how to mix colors...they literally pour a box color on your hair and try to throw other colors on top of it if comes out wrong! Professionalism? Courtesy? Customer Service? FORGET ABOUT IT if you go there. My weave was dry, terribly colored, and destroyed when I left! Oh & get this, since your card is already on file, they do not discount or make amends to your payment when you are displeased. They are kind of like...sorry oh well, when customers are unhappy (which is very often). Dont go!!!! Trust me... I left out looking a hot mess & in tears ON MY BIRTHDAY!!!

First let me say they deserve 0 stars. I called thursday and asked to make an appointment. But Friday happened to be a walk in day so showed around the afternoon their were a few people getting weaves done. So I had a little wait. I didnt wash my hair so knew that would be an extra cost which I was okay with. Once seated the stylist talked and danced leaving me wondering why arent you doing my hair. She braided my hair straight down which I didnt like. Then I was moved to another stylist which was interesting to me. So at this point the price is 64 dollars for the wash and weave. Now they say my weave needs to be sew into a cap and for curl and cut everything will be 90 now. I was somewhat okay again with the price plus I didnt want to leave without having my hair done. I showed the stylist a picture of what I wanted an it was announced to whole salon. They were acting ratchet and being loud. Wanted a choppy bob. Thats not even close to what I got. I just wanted to get outta there, so after everything price was 104 after being told that it would be 90. The service is beyond awful the girls are tacky. Completely unprofessional.

They girl who did my closure or they I should say need too take a closure class sewn in okay but gotta learn how too do the styles people want don’t just volunteer it’s not cool just two weeks and my closure is not in place i guess this happens when you go cheap 130 smh 🤦🏾‍♀️

The lady that did my hair messed up my lace front so bad that I will NEVER go there again!! Ladies pay the extra money and get it done right.

I decided to give this establishment a try- I always go to Absolue Weave Bar in New Jersey,I only went in for a wash and one stitch for a track coming loose- I had the sweetest girl named Tiye. The atmosphere was very unfriendly and angry ( the stylists, receptionist, and clients) except for Tiye. I went to pay and they charged me $85.00 for the service. Should I cry reverse discrimination? Absolute Weave charges between $35-45 for the same service.- I guess they need the money more than I do—- OH, by the way - my UBER Driver DIDNT EVEN WANT to come and pick me up because he said the area was so unsafe- If you don’t mind Camden New Jersey, you’ll be fine at this West Philadelphia location.

I went in for a signature $50 sew in. They charged up! 15 for washing my hair. 7 for blow drying it. 10 for have over 2 packs of hair. (I had two and a half) and another 15 because one of the bundles was cut (THE HALF PACK). After it was in they didnt straighten it, style or even comb it...but they did cut the each bundle as they put them in -_- soo I was fresh out of money for unexpected fees and went home. But lets just say I should have done my pricing research and not just trusting a billboard lol. Thats fine.It wasnt even a full 48 hours before the tracks were showing and slipping. First in the back, then on the sides and middle, and by the time an 6 inch track section was hanging my by ear I just took it out. I had it in for 2 weeks.

My style looked nothing like what I asked for but it still came out okay. Ill only gi there when I dont want a cut.

My last experience was TERRIBLE and I had no intention of going back but I figured I try a different stylist. I called to see how long the wait is and some girl sarcastically answered 6 hours. Typical. Pay a little more money and go somewhere else.

I got my hair done Wednesday (the day before thanksgiving) worst hair experience ever!!! I was told once my hair was done that the stylist didn’t know how to do lace closures but when she asked me How was I getting my hair she never mentioned to me that she wasn’t specialized in that area there was no part in my hair and another stylist had to asist several times!! Thank you!! I payed $130 and was offered a redo within 7 days so was I suppose to look crazy for the holiday?? I went somewhere else and got my hair done I was very inconvenienced and dissatisfied with the service why would I want to come back??

They have the best staff, very polite and friendly not only that but they are some really talented girls who can sew hair fast and GOOD I definitely give them a million thumbs up👍👍

I read the reviews good and bad so I decided to give them a shot anyway.. I got weave with closure.. My Hair washed and dried or thats extra..installed 2.5 bundles with the closure that was $150..and to be honest my hair looked like i did it..Didnt look like I went to the hair dresser . I asked to have my hair wand curl that was etra..So I will not return..disappointed

Makata did my hair. Worse mistake ever! She is terrible and has a terrible attitude! Even worse, I live about an hour from the weavebar but, I have been coming to this location for about three years. This is maybe the 2nd time I have come to the site without an appointment. $179. Later, I had my closure in over some bumpy braids and my silky bundles look ridiculous. I am furious! Do not waste your time and money if you are like me both are precious. There was very little done to see if my hair could be fixed without charging me again and it seemed to be a punch line that I had wanted my time on asking for a resolution. Very pretty, very immature, very unprofessional, do AVOID THIS PLACE.
