I went in for a scalp treatment and silk press at the recommendation of the person on the phone. I said I wanted a scalp treatment bc my hair had been in braids for two months and I wanted a deep conditioning treatment to restore moisture and then a blowout. She suggested I get a silk press instead bc it would include deep conditioning.So I went in yesterday and never received either treatment. The stylist (Kathy) was super rough with my natural hair and I loss so much hair unnecessarily due to her rough handling of my hair. Then my hair which was very healthy with healthy ends needed a trim of maybe half an inch. She cut off 3 inches of my (formerly) waist length hair. It takes 6 months to grow 3 inches of hair and she chops off perfectly healthy hair in a few seconds.Then to top it off she lathered the front of my hair with edge control (which I didn’t request) so now while the rest of my hair is bouncy the front of my hair is stiff, sticky and unattractive.Worst silk press experience ever. Do not trust your curls to these people (or specifically this stylist). They/she do not respect the care needed to handle natural hair properly. I’m just praying I have not suffered any heat damage along with the breakage I experienced the day of.So discouraging.

About a month ago I went to Hair in Motion and was greeted by Kathy . She was very pleasant and recommended me to get a keratin with color and it came out FENOMENAL . I went into the salon not knowing what I wanted to do but I wanted a change and she made me feel comfortable and I looked GORGEOUS. I RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO TO HER AND HER SERVICE IS 100%. I left feeling like a model.

I originally praised Cinnamon for her work. I still admire her work on natural hair and ghana braids, but my most recent experience was disappointing. At the beginning of the month I had her install a custom lace wig. Everything looked good in the salon but when I saw my hair in natural lighting I was highly disappointed. The lace was extremely obvious and it was already lifting on one side of my head and a little at the front. I contacted her about it and she agreed to have me come in the next day to make my wig more secure. I also explained how the lace was noticeable and she said since I wasn’t used to wearing lace fronts it was going to be noticeable to me. I waited over an hr between her other appts, which was fine, because I thought this time it would be fixed and because I didn’t actually have a time slot. She was nice enough to squeeze me in. When she was done installing my wig the second time around she wrapped my hair and had me sit under the dryer. I ended up having to leave five min early to get to school on time. I left the wrap on the whole day while I was at school and took it off later that night. I noticed one spot wasn’t fully secure but it wasnt that bad and I had to fly out the very next day. During my vacation, not only was my wig sliding, I noticed the knots didn’t appear to be bleached. I reached out to Cinnamon once again and even sent pics to show her how visible the knots were. She said that the knots were bleached but I’m unsure why they are still visible if thats the case. She agreed to have me come in again to re-bleach and restyle my unit, only to ignore me for five days after and not live up to her word.I’m not understanding what went wrong or why it couldn’t be corrected but I regret putting my trust in her. The hair wasn’t cheap and from her advertisements on instagram, I didn’t believe I would have had these issues. She made her other clients wigs look great but for some reason mine didn’t come out that way.Cinnamon, I honestly wish you the best and for future please do not promise your clients that you’ll fix something for them if you aren’t going to follow through with it. Maybe it was an off day for you or just a bad install that happened twice, but I hope for future you’re more considerate of people’s time and money. I honestly feel like I got ripped off. For the amount of money I paid, my install should not have been sliding within 2 hours of installation and my knots should not have been visible. The whole point of a lace front is for it to be versatile but I can’t even lift my hair up without it looking extremely unnatural.

So unprofessional hairdresser Kathy. She ruined all. I regretted that I came here. It was closest hairdresser, and thought that hairdresser knows what to do. Seems she never touch mans hair. Being polite to other people i didnt make an issue, but rushed to leave place. Machine blade was pulling my hair, expected more for $20. Shame.

My stylist was Nancy. She took the time and explained to me about healthy hair, and how to maintain your style after leaving the salon. The atmosphere was very pleasant, music was soft and pleasing to the ear. The salon was very clean. Nancy greeted me with a smile. She kept me entertained. I was waited on in a timely manner. I was so impressed by my experience here. The staff was very friendly and the prices were very affordable. The place was clean and looked very elegant. My hairstylist was Athalie. My hair was very dry and not well taken care of before going to the salon but she gave me a special treatment and the hair looked amazing after. She was very friendly and took her time to make sure all my layers looked even. Cinnamon provided great commentary and the atmosphere was very positive and the overall experience was great. Will definitely return.

I got a deal for a keratin treatment with Kathy on Groupon for $75. Once I called to schedule my appointment they charged me another $25 for the conditioner, which is fine I dont really care about that. I have slightly loose to tight curl pattern so I wanted to relax them and make my daily upkeep less stressful. I was also tired of waking up looking like a troll. Kathey claimed that this treatment should last 3 months....yah no. I sat through the 4 hour process on the 11th of July and its now the 30th and my hair looks the same as it did when I walked in. Kathy was also really pushy about her tip and basically demanded I download Cashapp so I could send it to her. Overall, it was an $110 experience that wasnt worth it in the end.Edit: I went in today and met with the owner after she saw that I wasnt 100% satisfied. She was very friendly and gave me exactly what I wanted the first time around free of charge. 😊😊

I have lived in the Metro West area for over 7 years and struggled to find a profession, high fashion and comfortable salon. Little did I know that Hair in Motion of New York was the answer to my prayer. This salon is innovative, welcoming and the staff is extremely profession and profession.

Came in for a Groupon Keratin treatment about 4 months ago. Kathy did my Keratin and semi-permanent color. She did such a fantastic job that I have become a loyal satisfied customer ever since. I have to look good for my public facing job at all times so Kathy does my color every 2 weeks. She is passionate about her work and cares about you having healthy hair. I stopped getting a relaxer 10 yrs ago. Keratin is the way to go. Ask for Kathy!

Unfortunately, this was a failed short hair attempt for me. I understand that cutting fine short hair is hard and I would be perfectly happy if I get this hair at Super cuts for 20 box. But for 75 dollars I expect the stylist to know how to do undercuts. She has no clue why I am not happy. She did not even take her time to look at the photo I showed. I will never go back there. If I am not wrong the name of the stylist was Kathy. So beware!

I recently moved into the area and did not have a new hairdresser. I needed a keratin and a haircut. I made an appt with Kathy. I was so relieved that she was familiar with my curly frizzy hair and the products that I was using. She took her time to sit with me and give me a hair consultation which in all of my life I dont ever remember a new hair stylist doing that for me ever. She went over what to expect to keep my hair as healthy as possible and what were the best products to use. I was very impressed before my appt and after,s made me feel so comfortable. I left the salon feeling so great about myself and my hair looked awesome. Im so happy I found her and so happy I found a new hairdresser to make me feel so beautiful. Her prices were very fair and affordable for me. Thank you Kathy!!!!

I was in town visiting from Atlanta Georgia and found this fantastic place online. The hair stylist Ibo did a phenomenal job with my hair style. Very professional and personable. I would give this place 5 stars if it was not for the other stylist next to Ibo to speak negatively about Ibo skill level. This should not have been said in the presence of clients or at all. Don’t think this person should be there as each stylist should be uplifting to one another in a positive manner.

Im a regular client at Hair in Motion. Kathy is amazing!! She always does an excellent job with my hair and is the best hair stylist I have ever gone to! I must say, FINALLY! I have battled constantly with finding a salon and stylist that I could really trust with my hair, I really dont trust easy when it comes to my hair. I moved to Orlando almost two years ago and have been trying different salon since I moved here. I have relaxed hair and Im very particular about it. I happened to Google salons near me and found this place. I got randomly booked with Nancy and let me say, Im sooooo happy with that random pairing. She is amazing, so knowledgeable. When I first sat in her chair I told her I had a ton of questions before we started. Shes was very patient and funny. I think Ive found my salon and stylist, I can finally check that off the list. I recommended my sister to her, she has natural hair and she loves her as well!

I love to start by saying the staff is all friendly but of course I recommend my stylist Lashanda. She is by far the most amazing person I have ever meet. She’s so uplifting and I enjoy having her as my hairstylist.

I walked in today to get my hair washed and “styled”. I just wanted a blow dry and straightened. Ally told me it would be $50. I agreed and she took me right back to wash my hair. After washing it she sat me down and said she was going to put me under the dryer. Since she didn’t put any product in my hair it was super tangled so, I told her I would brush my hair; no biggie.After sitting in the dryer so long more than half my hair was dry (my hair goes down to my tail bone). I took the dryer off of me because it was making my hair flat (which is the opposite of what I asked for).She went to start blow drying my hair and I had to ask her to put product in it because my hair will frizz up. She put two sprays in my hair and “rubbed” it throughout.After telling her multiple times I wanted volume in my hair she decided to start to tease my hair. I told her to stop because that’s not what I wanted. My hair is naturally straight and thin; teasing it will break it.Had she used a roller to blow dry my hair and not let the machine dry half of it, she would of got volume within my hair.I walked out paying and leaving with my hair in a pony tail and hair clip (the same exact way I walked in).Waste of time and money. The salon was nice and Ally herself was nice.I will never go back and never recommend this salon. Instead of redoing my hair or trying to fix it she laughed at me with the male stylist. The ONLY one that tried to help with the situation was the first stylist with red hair.

Wow, I had an amazing experience at hair in motion! I went in for braids which usually is a timely process but I was in and out in two hours flat, no issues! Alexis my hair stylist was so great& my hair came out on point! The owner was such a beautiful soulthat invited me in and it madd my time there that much more enjoyable! The only issue I had was with the receptionist and her lack of professionalism when I came in other than that, i will be heading back!

Really great atmosphere great work done the only thing was I had an appointment and my hairdresser was multitasking with my hair and someone elses when I have an appointment I want everything prompt and I would prefer for my hair to be done under my appointment time and not have to wait for someone else otherwise there is no point of an appointment. Other than that everything was superb this doesnt happen often just this hairdresser in particular. I would return again they do great quality hair

I decided to try Mayvenn for the first time and take advantage of their free install promotion, I chose the stylist closest to my location and who had nice pictures of styles she’s previously done. I arrived and was immediately assisted, there was a nice atmosphere, lovely shop. I showed my stylist a photo of the parting I wanted , and she got to work. The sides of my head hurt from how tight the braids near my edges were, but other than that I thought it’d be fine..., wrong. When I saw the finished product I was very disappointed, there was a huge noticeable hump at the top of my head, not enough hair was left to cover the tracks, no heat protectant was used on my actual hair, the actually weave itself felt lumpy and no products to blend my actual hair with the weave were used, it looked awful and quite frankly sad. To spare the stylists’ feelings I told her it was fine, once I left I contacted Mayvenn and scheduled to have my hair done by someone else and I removed the atrocity immediately. If you’re getting a free install by Tamitria ... I’d specify to please braid flatly and to not allow there to be a noticeable hump in your sew in, you’d think it’s implied but it’s apparently not.

New to Orlandi and the staff and atmosphere is wonderful at this shop....First time and last time there. After multiple calls and pictures sent neither my Daughter nor I got what was requested....My 16 yr old daughter is dealing with it. I couldnt and had to find another stylist who was juggling about eight customers but I walked out with what I wanted.... Then another young Lady was put up on the stylist page under the assumption it was my Daughter smh? I have NEVER spent so much money on my hair within two weeks. The stylist has wonderful photos of beautiful styles.... I believe in giving a person a second chance but my Husband said no... Thankfully the third time finding a stylist was a charmThe only reason for this negative post is that I only have one child and I went out of my way to spend that type of money and she did not get what she wanted and unfortunately I was outside handling business and when I came back she was practically done and I am just now finding out two weeks later Exactly what happened....It happens!!!

As always, it depends on your stylist how good your experience will be. Aside from that variable, this is a clean, friendly place with good vibes and stylists that get along well.

Staff was really nice, they put me in for a last minute eye wax. But I dont think I will return, Kathy did my eyebrows, in-between her appointment, she was really nice but I paid $15 ($12 + 25% tip) and my eyebrows looks ​almost the same as it did when I went in. Im going to have to pay someone else for what should have been done this time. Also, I paid more than I normally would for the wax and it was much worse. Im highly disappointed.

Former nail tech and stylist...SUPER picky. I came in and MiMi did my one inch + long nails to perfection. Now, what made my day...My afro was tired and dry. The owner, Lesline, walked in looking FABULOUS. I begged her to help me, I was going to DC the next day, and I had no clue what I wanted. Lesline took her time and did a clipper cut, followed with shears, did a high lift and color service. I have never gotten more compliments from so many different types of people, and my hair still has its integrity following the high lift service. I will not go ANYWHERE else for my hair and nails.

NATURAL “BLACK WOMEN” Stay Away From This Salon!! This is the last place you want to come unless you want all your hard work, dedication and sacrifice of countless hours pulled out! I should have known to leave when my stylist could barely speak English! All kinds of bells and whistles we’re going off in my head when Kathy couldn’t explain the GK Hair protein treatment process and with every question I asked she kept directing me back to a pamphlet in her broken English. But wait! This is a black salon with proud women of color all around me, surely she knows what she’s doing. No! No! First she washed my hair and did not detangle with a comb while wet. Wrapped a towel around my head and directed me to sit in her chair. When I asked about her detangling my hair she told me to read the pamphlet and said the treatment would make detangling easy. So, I ignored the alarms going off once again when she began to blow dry my hair! Nothing on it! No detangling! Nothing!!!Next she began applying this GK treatment, roughly pulling my hair apart when I stopped her. My hair was so matted by this point the owner “I guess” asked for a spray bottle to wet my hair in order to comb it!Long story short the owner “I guess” had to explain to her how to comb natural hair while asking me how long it had been since I had a protein treatment as if it wasn’t that the stylist was wrong, I was wrong I guess for bringing my nappy hair into their salon! My hair is visibly broken off!By the time I made it to the counter to redeem my Groupon voucher no one but the assistant manager Shaz was professional enough to see that I was extremely upset and apologized. Thank you Shaz! I will never go to this salon again!!!!!

Im the kind of customer who comes with a picture of a style and need it to be done exactly like the picture. Everytime I come in with a new pic , its done 10 times better. I love this place and my hairstylist ( Lesline) is even better.

This review is going to be lengthy. This salon is awesome!!!! From the time I walked in I was awed by how lush it is on the inside. I am still new to the Orlando area but I think I have found my new spot. I was warmly greeted by the assistant manager, I think her name is Shaz. She was super friendly and made me feel right at home. But, the star of this review is Saida. I have never had a haircut that was so precise & on point. She takes time to walk you through exactly what shes going to do. I have to travel thirty minutes to get to Hair in Motion but it was definitely worth it. If your on the fence about Saida or Hair in Motion trust me you wont be disappointment and your hair will love you for it. Saida you rock girl!!!!!

So I found this salon through groupon for the keratin treatment with Kathy. It was advertised for $71 for one keratin treatment. I jumped on the opportunity as it seemed like a great deal. I call right away and schedule my appointment.The day of my appointment comes and I receive a call asking if I am okay with pushing back my appointment as my stylist will be late (an hour and a half). I agree to this and arrive an hour and a half later.The first thing I am told is that my hair is too long and I will not be able to get the groupon for $71 as that is the price for only for 2oz of the liquid. Every extra ounce that they use on me will be an extra $25. This information is NO where to be found on the groupon, not even in the fine print.I let it slide and they continue to tell me that I really need to get a cut as well. I was adamant that I did not want to cut my hair, strictly the treatment only. They then go on to inform me that I will need to return in 4 days to have my hair washed, which I have to pay for. I ask why is this necessary and they go on to tell me that they cannot guarantee that the treatment will last if I wash it on my own. They state they can only guarantee it if they use their own shampoo. I opted out as I can find a sulfate free and sodium chloride free shampoo on my own.She proceeds to wash me in THE most uncomfortable sink ever. My neck was in pain the entire time and I was ever so grateful to be out of that chair.The process was okay from there. She was friendly enough albeit not the best english. But she was sweet. She left me under the heat for almost an hour though which I thought was unnecessary. Spent over three hours there.Honestly though, the salon is all about money money, you could see it in the owners eyes as she spoke with me and you could see the disappointment in their eyes every time I shot them down for the extra add ons. If it wasnt for all of that and the misleading on the groupon, I may have given an extra star or two..but really not a good experience especially for a first time customer (and last).
