Jonathan Stein has a keen sense and awareness of what is needed during times of crisis and just figuring things out about work/life balance, relationships, etc. He has the ability to create a space in which one can reconnect with oneself. I highly recommend him if you are seeking a counselor who can guide you through the darker times in your life. He will help you discover new life and light.

Ive known Jonathan for 6 years and have interacted with him in a variety of contexts. Ive always been impressed with his capacity to listen in a non-judgmental, compassionate way. Jonathan can hold space equally well for despair and joy, shadow and beauty. He fosters a safe, inclusive environment in one-on-one as well as group interactions. I always feel grounded after being in his presence.

I saw Jonathan for about 4 -5 months weekly several years ago, when I washaving difficulties relating to my grown daughter. When we began, the idea wasthat my daughter and I would meet together with him. However, this changed and I found myself faced with my own hindrances to an improved relationship. With Jonathan, each session was routinely organized, beginning with a sense of being present, and ending with a sense of fulfillment and calm.I found these sessions well worth the time and I looked forward to them. Jonathan was skillful in his methods of having me play out some of the situations I brought to attention. These helped me see myself in a more acceptable light, especially as a mother.I heartily recommend him as a skillful, attentive, and sensitive therapist.

Jonathan is a very effective therapist and counselor, and a truly compassionate man. I would recommend him to anyone going through acute difficulties, or to anyone who wants to work on themselves to shift basic issues. His grief counseling and bereavement and loss work is phenomenal, and well respected in the area. Jonathan runs ongoing grief and loss workshops which I cannot recommend highly enough. After an hour with him I feel whole again.

He helped me go though an abusive relationship that was causing me depression. John did a great job helping me come to realize things for myself and was empathetic and personal. I would go back to him if I ever have any mental health issues in the future.

A friend of mine found the Coming Home to Grief group online. I was attracted by the Expressive Arts approach, and that was a helpful way to focus the enormous energy that grief was taking in my life. After the sudden, traumatic death of my soul-mate there was no way that ordinary everyday relationships and spaces could feel emotionally safe for me. Jonathan created a group structure where everyone had time to be heard and supported, and be met wherever we happened to be. There was no judging or advising, just respectful listening that honored each of us in our particular life story. This will be a long process for me and it is not over or solved. But I needed a supportive place to focus on the devastation and its aftermath, and I got it in Jonathan’s group.

Jonathan deeply cares about the world and the people in it. In his Coming Home to Grief group this past spring, I felt soothed and held by his calming, caring presence. In the safe space he created for us, I was able to open up to feelings of grief (my own and others) in a new way.Weaving in the expressive arts is a brilliant way to get into the nitty gritty of grief, and Jonathan facilitates these processes with heart and skill. I especially felt engaged by the work with the sand tray with Jonathan as my witness: his strong-hearted, sensitive and grounded presence helped me to unblock a deep well of grief, and the flow continued through the entire eight-week session. Jonathans support was tangible and ever-present.My grief is a gift that Jonathan helped me open up. I feel an abundance of gratitude for him, and the sacred healing work he makes possible!
