Dr Holloway is kind, patient, caring, an excellent listener. He is thorough, able to give patient teaching in an easy to understand way. His knowledge base is huge and he keeps it up to date. His office staff is very helpful and they go over their office procedure ahead of time to keep us extra safe during the Covid19. The office is organized and my visit was flawless. Not only do they wear masks and gloves, but they wear face shields for that additional safety. I felt at ease, safe, and cared for as a cherished patient.

My dad has used Dr. Holloway To remove his skin cancer. . I used him in the 90’s and came to him to remove a large cyst today, i will use him again snd i would 100% refer him to anyone.. he is straight to the point. Im not a big talker and i like the fact he isnt all about small talk just get the problem taken care of. He answers questions and is direct just like a dr should be. Room was super clean and the staff was very friendly. I have no complaints. He got me right in , where every one else didnt have any appts for weeks even though i was in pain. Obviously Dr. holloway and His staff care. If i could give more stars i would!!! ~ kristie

I have been to see this doctor a few times and the spots that were removed have came back. Brought this up to the doctor and was told this is normal (been to other dermatologist since and been told that is not normal). They also do not accept HSA cards, which is ridiculous. Doctor is very abrupt and rude. Would NOT recommend.

Dr.Holloways personality may be a little dry. He is direct, honest, very blunt. There is no guessing. If you ask him, you get a straight answer.Thats not why I drive 150 miles to see him. He is one of the very best in his field. One smart man, who must have seen it all and remembers. He looks at your problem and has accurately diagnosed our family every time. He doesnt milk you with needless visits or trying on prescription after another. His office visits are short, direct, and has always diagnosed and treated accurately. THAT IS A GOOD DOCTOR. If I want to pay someone to talk nice to me i go out to eat.THANK YOU DR. JOEL E. HOLLOWAY. YOU ARE ONE IN A MILLION !😇

DEFINITELY entrust my dermatology care here! Without question, Dr Holloway and his staff are the kindest and most efficient healthcare providers Ive ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Dr Holloway is direct in his approach and an absolutely intelligent no nonsense kinda guy that is a breath of fresh air. His staff couldnt be more efficient, organized, and genuinely kind. Entrust your dermatology care here if you want accuracy and it done right the first time. If you need someone to hold your hand and tell you how wonderful and smart you are, go somewhere else. A++++ in my book!

DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!!! This was the WORST experience at a Doctors office that I have ever had. Dr. Holloway was incredibly rude, condescending, and disrespectful. I left his office in tears. Dr. Holloway did not even listen to my concerns; he immediately told me that my problem was that I scratch too much. It was belittling to be treated like a 5-year-old and leave his office still not even knowing or understanding what issues Im having with my skin. He was the only dermatologist in Norman where I could be seen quickly and now I know why. I will NEVER return to his office and I will be sure to tell people not to go to him. He should not be allowed to practice medicine. I would give him zero stars if able. The sad part is having to pay money for such a degrading experience!

Having read several reviews stating that Dr. Holloway is a miserable old man, I would like to give my experience from just earlier today.I did wait upwards of 20 minutes past my appointment time to be seen, but after hearing some conversations between the folks at the desk I discovered that this was because they were making additional effort to ensure that my insurance was correct. As a student on a student healthcare plan, I appreciated this and was not at all bothered by the wait. Once they were finished I was called back almost immediately.I found that Dr. Holloway was not in fact unpleasant at all. In fact, hes a very soft-spoken and calm person. He diagnosed me, recommended two treatments (one effective-but-unpleasant, one pleasant-but-ineffective) and allowed me a moment to discuss the benefits of each one with him. Having done my own research, I presented it to him as contrary to his own statements/diagnoses, and he calmly countered my points and reassured me of his diagnosis, then happily gave me any information I wanted about preventative measures and expected side effects of treatment. We had a short laugh about how the internet can be misleading, and he left the room without a word other than see you in a month.I go into detail about my interactions with Dr. Holloway because it appears that he is misunderstood. Dr. Holloway has been in practice for nearly 50 years, and everything is run-of-the-mill to him. He speaks briefly and factually, and doesnt bother with pleasantries. I respect him for his professionalism, and believe that if anyone approaches him with equal respect that they will find him to be a perfectly happy individual that provides excellent care to his patients.

Called to make an appointment asking for the earliest they had. Was told they had a slot for the the first appointment of the day later that week so I booked it. I pre-filled my paperwork out before arriving. Got there 5 minutes before they opened at 9:00 jumped through all the regular hoops then sat down to wait to be called. 15 minutes go by nothing. By this time there were other patients that had come in. Now its 9:25 and Joel Holloway walks in. Yes he just got to work and had a waiting room full of patients. 9:35 rolls around and a nurse comes out and I was thinking for sure Id be the first one they called. Nope, they called some other patient that came in 15 minutes after me, then another nurse comes out and calls another patient. Now its 9:45 and they finally call me back. Joel finally comes in hardly says a word and has an attitude like he is Gods gift to all dermatologists. He recommends a soap that I should get when checking out so I got it. It was around $14 after tax. Come to find I can get the same soap for $7 off Amazon. Very scandalous and shady. Hey Joel why dont you respect other peoples time and show up to work when your supposed to (ON TIME) and how about stop ripping people off on products they can find 1/2 cheaper from other vendors.

This man is unfathomably unnecessarily rude. Does the situation call for rudeness? No, yet he finds a way. Whatever symptoms you may have, go to a different doctor. Because by the time you leave his office, the only skin youll want him to look at is on your middle finger. Then, when you go about the world, be kind to others. We have to make up for people like him.

Giving a one star because zero is not an option. I went in for dry skin that was relentless. First the staff made me wait an hour, bringing back people that came in 30 minutes after me first. When he finally came in, he didnt introduce himself. I explained the situation and he gave me the dirtiest look. He grabbed my face, jerked it around, and then listed off skin conditions that I apparently have. He told me Id need a shot, to take pills for a month, and to use a topical cream. Im squeemish with shots, so I got really nervous. When I asked the nurse to wait a minute, he gave me yet another dirty look. Then he said Im unimpressed. He left, didnt explain what the shot was or anything else. About an hour after I had the shot, I got violently sick. I called back to find out what the shot was, and they told me I was sick because I was anxious about the shot. The staff made me feel like I was an idiot. Ive never been so disrespected.**updateI found out my mother took my little sister who is autistic to see him once. She was seen for warts on her knees. He wanted to inject them with something to make them disappear. When she got scared and freaked out, he blew up at her and treated her like she wasnt a human. My mother and sister left in tears.Do not go to this man. I will be reporting him to the board.

I only wish I could give negative stars, I have never had a worse medical experience, and my visit haunts me until today. I went during the summer of 2016 - I am writing this over two years later because it is still such a bad memory.I went to see him concerning a mysterious chronic itchiness that I had on 2 specific spots of my body (calf and scalp) for over 4 years. I was finally able to see a doctor after getting insurance for the first time.He was antagonistic from the moment he walked in. He was rude, and it was very clear that he wasnt going to give me any time beyond the minimum. After addressing the itchiness, and basically answering my follow up questions like I was a huge nuisance to him. I asked him about ONE mole on my side, and he took a glance at it and said it was fine in a very clipped manner. I want to be clear, he is not just blunt, he is rude. I can not believe he is still practicing. I left the place in tears by how awful the experience was.Doctors hold a lot of power - we come to them as a person of authority about health concerns that we worry and are insecure about. He was completely inappropriate.I was convinced that it was due to my race. I am a Asian woman in my early 20s. I could absolutely think of no other reason why he would have treated me with such hostility. After reading the other reviews, I see that it is likely he is just an unhappy man. But I was 22 at the time, and to this day this is one my top memories related to racism.

Never even made it into the office because it’s over priced and the lady who answered the phone already had an attitude. He did a disinterested 60-second skin exam that cost me $270, not including the $180 for the visit (what else the visit involved beyond the skin exam I dont know). Then he recommended two biopsies costing $700 on two moles Ive had since I was a kid that have never been flagged at any other of the 10 annual skin exams Ive had. I took a chance on going to a close specialist, but Ill be going back to my more distant doctor (Roberts) who charges about $350 less for a visit/exam and is clearly more attentive.

I haven been being tested for Lupus and Rheumatoid. Around the same time I began to get sores all over my body that are perfect disk, they have a raised edge that’s purple, and they pit like a crater. They hurts very bad. The worst ones are in huge clusters on my butt. I can’t get them to heal because every time I pull down my underwear they are glued to them from busting open. My dr sent me to Holloway. He walked into the room didn’t introduce himself, didn’t ask me background info, nothing. He looked at a few of the sore on my arms and then told me I was doing it on my own. I was doing it to myself. When I would try to say that they started as little tiny bumps, or that I did not do it myself, he would interrupt me and tell me I was doing it to myself. My mother was with me and also tried to say I wasn’t doing it myself. And he shut her down too. I left the building crying so hard my mother had to drive me home. I have been going through so much testing and unknown with the autoimmune stuff and now being treated like this. This man is not only a disgrace to his profession and the people who walk in there trusting him, but this man is a disgrace to man kind.

I am going to start off by saying, he is the most narcissistic condescending arrogant man/ Doctor I have ever came across in my life. He likes to down talk and belittle you as a human. His staff stand by and just watch as he verbally abused me, you would think that they would not just stand by allowing a man of power to verbally abuse people.2 months ago I went to see Dr. Holloway for a mole that had grown quiet fast. He took 1 look at it and told me I need to remove it now, if I tried to ask him any questions about it he shut me down immediately, claiming he is the Doctor and I should let him do his job. As he was cutting it off of me he told the LPN in the room, “do you see how this is shiny? THIS IS CANCER. after he was finished I had asked him what do we do next. He was extremely rude and hostile with the way he talked to me. He told me he absolutely knew it was cancer but he had to wait for my insurance to confirm that is was cancer so they would pay for it, or else he would have started the treatment that day. He was rude, cold, and inconsiderate, and absolutely would not answer any of my questions. All he would say was that he’s done this 100 times and he knew what cancer looks like and he was very sure I had it. I was crying and scared. So I left and went home to my family. 10 days later I called his office for my results, they told me I DID NOT HAVE CANCER! I said, Well that’s not what your Doctor said, and they said, The important thing is you don’t have cancer. after I Had already suffered through the emotional pain of thinking I had cancer. My fellow nurses and Doctors I work with begged me to turn him into the medical board. My eyelashes had started to fall out right around the time he told me I had cancer. I could not get into a new Dermatologist for 2 months so I foolishly went back to him. This time I was treated even worse, and I do believe I smelt alcohol on his breath as he got into my face to make me feel stupid. I am absolutely going to the bored. I am going to turn him and his staff for allowing him to do this. Once again he had me in tears and I ran out the door. I believe I have a good lawsuit on my heads for public humiliation and verbal harassment. He is a bully who makes you feel bad about yourself when Doctors are supposed to make you feel better, NOT WORSE!

He may be a good doctor in the area of skin cancer, but I would advise anyone searching for a dermatologist for other conditions to avoid Dr. Holloway! Not only does he have HORRIBLE bedside manner, but because of a cream he prescribed me my skin is ruined!! When I went in a second time to find out why I wasnt getting better, he told me that my condition wasnt ready to go away and that I should keep using the cream. I followed his orders, and now my skin is not only addicted to the cream, but I have to apply it twice as often, because its losing effectiveness. When I went to see a new doctor, they informed me that the cream should only be used for a few days, but Holloway advised me to use it for over a month! I could go on and on about how Dr. Holloway has screwed me over, but I will simply say if you need a dermatologist, wait the extra month it takes to get to a better doctor and avoid Holloway!

Ive been in the medical field a very long time and in order to have your patients appreciate you and want to return and recommend you to other people is a big deal. Maybe hes been a doctor too long and getting tired of people; I cant say, who knows. But, when I left his office I was in tears because of the unknown and then his attitude on top of that didnt help. I had been to previous offices, but none of the medicines prescribed seem to have an effect. The receptionists and nurses were all very kind. However, once dr Holloway entered the room, he took one look at me, turned around to leave and said “that’s acne”. He was very rude. I tried to ask him to give a second look, and then pleaded the symptoms to the nurse, who further belittled me by saying “if you know what’s wrong with you, why come to a doctor?”The whole encounter was awful. And for the record, I have perioral dermatitis after a professional dermatologist diagnosed me.
