Its an intense Chinese massage, and absolutely what my body needs on a regular basis. The staff are so extremely friendly. I prefer the new location at 171 Canal over the old location only because its quite a bit bigger and has an airier feeling to it. Im a regular client and love this place. I recommend it to all of my friends. Its no frills, but its all effective. And the price is a steal! Tip well :-)

Yesterday I came, it was Saturday, so busy, walk in, the lady at the reception was hard to communicate. We left unhappy. Today I came, not that busy, first called and scheduled, and she was super sweet. What a difference it makes. Clean place. Massage from Ana was so fantastic... All my back spasm gone.. Hah. Total 50$ with a 10$ tip included. Yes!!

Zu Yuan is the best spa in New York City for deep tissue full body massage and foot massage. I tried this spa back in 2015, Ive been coming back since then. When I have family visiting, Zu Yuan is A MUST. They all loved it.The front desk is always welcoming, the masseuses are very professional and efficient. I always feel like I have a brand new body when I leave this place. The place has always been very clean, the towels smell nice detergent. Since Covid-19, the place is extremely rigorous with cleaning and keep disinfecting all the areas. They check your temperature and ask you to use hand sanitizer as soon as you come in.So happy to have found this place.I definitely recommend this SPA!

I get massages monthly from Massage Envy but was traveling to the city and needed some fast help. He got knots out of my shoulders and lower back I have had since probably 2002.This is not for the faint of heart, Chinese back rubs are about pressure points not like a massage on the beach.I will definitely be coming back when I am in the city for work again.

I have been coming here for years. Great massage every time and at an awesome price point. Ive tried 6 popular massage places in Chinatown and this is my favorite. The space is small though and efficient. There are no private rooms. Just beds with curtains separating. Enough privacy but sound can carry.

Is this a fancy spa? Absolutely not. Will you get one of the best massages of your life? Better believe it. Be aware that this is NOT spa-like...youre only separated by a hanging sheet from all of those around you. The biggest downside is you can hear all the moans and groans from everyone else getting the knots pounded out of their muscles. Still, this place is SO worth it!

This massage parlor is the real deal. It gets pretty busy, so I suggest calling ahead of time to make an appointment. The first time I got a massage here, I was a walk-in. They were only able to accommodate me for a 30 min massage, but at least they made time for me! They zoned in on all my back knots and I walked out feeling so much better. They accept card and cash but I would advise to bring cash; its cheaper (no tax and fees) and faster.

We had many people tell us this was the best place in China Town to get a foot massage. We had a really great experience. The massage was awesome and fairly priced. This was my very first back massage and I experienced extreme pain from the very first touch. The masseuse was very rough and even though I asked him to lighten up, he was still rough. Its a clean facility and the staff is very pleasant but dont go there expecting some kind of relaxing, soft body massage. They really dig in.

This is my go-to massage spot!! The entrance is pretty unassuming and you have to go up a flight of stairs to enter. Theres an area designated for foot massages that is separate from the full body massages (I have ticklish feet, so I havent tried the foot massage). Typical Chinese massage parlor decor, music & atmosphere. What sets this place apart from the rest is the amazing, firm, deep-tissue massages! Im generally very ticklish, so I will start laughing unless I get a really firm massage, and boy does this place deliver. You also cant beat the price. I think its $40 for 60 minutes. Walk ins are welcome, but I recommend calling ahead for a reservation, as this place is pretty popular. They take same-day reservations. Highly recommend.

This is a fantastic spot for a quick massage. Very cheap (two of us had 15 minute foot massages and 15 minute back massage for $50.00).The workers know what they are doing and are professional. I informed the masseuse of the main area giving me issues and it was worked out great. Left feeling 1000% times better. They were accommodating as well. I was left with the only option of a chair massage due to the reservations but they managed to pull out a bed for me once I informed of the problem area seeing it could not be worked on the chair.I would highly recommend calling the day before and making a reservation. We were not able to get the full amount of time we were seeking due to how busy the place was and the reservations coming in.I would also say that if you are looking for a long full body massage in a quiet space..look elsewhere. However, this place is tops for a quick fix or foot massage.Bring cash.

This place is for you if you are looking to get the best bang for your buck. It is small but its well managed and the staff is attentive, so, yes these 5-star reviews are legit.Wear comfortable clothing and be open-minded to seating in a community style room while getting your feet massaged. I highly suggest making an appointment. We got lucky and were able to get squeezed in without a hassle. Unfortunately, due to everyone elses appointments, I couldnt get longer time for my back massage. The lady who massaged my feet and back was great. I came out of here happy and pain-free. I am someone who has a bad back and have spent half my life getting massages, so I know a great massage when I get one.Clean, inexpensive, and on point with their customer service.Cash only.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Unfortunately, I have not had the best experience here.Although the folks who work the desk and who provide the massage are very nice, I left in more physical pain than before I showed up.I’ve been here now three times on the recommendation of a friend...First visit:Everything was great, however 15-20 minutes later my eyes began itching like I’ve never experienced - I chalked it up to perhaps the chemicals where I’d just gotten a pedicure.Second visit:The masseur was very rough - rubbing so hard to where I had some bruising the next day - the stones where also much hotter than previous. As well, my eyes began to burn 15-20 after the massage - I went right home to shower, clean my face, and rinse my eyes out, but the pain lasted throughout the night.Thought maybe it was this one particular masseur who was rough, but concluded the itchy eyes were from the parlor somehow - I’d just wash my hands immediately after next time I went and not to touch my eyes.Third and final visit:The masseur was very nice - However, I could tell he was not a trained masseur about halfway through the service.Instead of rubbing muscle, he laid his elbow directly into my spine and skull, the bones and tendons in my arms and legs. I asked him kindly to hold off or to ease up several times, though he’d eventually continue again. The experience was very uncomfortable - like someone giving you that “summer burn” thing we did as kids, but all over your body and in areas that really aren’t meant for hard massage, like tendons and bones. I am a big guy (6’3” 225lbs) and have a high tolerance for pain and discomfort - but this experience was; still horrible.Today, I feel like someone beat me up a little and my eyes are still burning 24 hours later. Needless to say, I cannot go back.

Excellent massage and very clean and peaceful. Massage tables between curtains very respectful though close quarters. They are willing to adjust the amount of pressure ...... very polite and sincere.I usually tell them nothing because I like strong deep tissue massage (plenty intense.without encouragement)... if you prefer medium or light just simply let them know at the beginning. They also ask if you are okay as massage progresses. They start rubbing through the towel and then direct contact with lotion followed by warm stones and warm water washcloth cleansing lotion.Very very nice and excellent prices.

I was feeling a ton of discomfort and some pain from injuries caused by a Chicago chiropractor who adjusted me in September 2018. Ive had on going issues with my left hip and leg after her adjustment. This has affected my back and throws it off. I really needed a massage and read reviews about Zu Yuan Spa. I took the chance and pooped in for a 45 minute massage to see how it would go. Sam was my masseuse. He exceeded my expectations and was fantastic. Sam had the perfect amount of pressure, not too soft, not too hard. Since I was so sore and full of knots, I asked him for soft to medium pressure, which was enough. Sam understood my request and adjusted pressure as needed. He seems to be one of those talented masseurs who really feels the pain his client feels and works to alleviate that pain through his hands.Weekends are, of course, the busiest. Im a huge stickler for a clean space. Zu Yuan is clean and there are no odd smells. Although the space is very small and you feel like a sardine in a tin, there are drapes around each massage table, creating a tiny room. It is private and you dont see anyone else. If you are looking for a spa like atmosphere, do not come here because this isnt the place. If youre looking to alleviate pain and get relief, stop by and ask for Sam. Ill definitely be returning, soon.

My go to place in Chinatown for a massage nowadays. Every single time I went, the masseuse always did a great job, and I left comfortable and happy. They are extremely accommodating to those with low tolerance for pain (I have a high tolerance and they apply just enough to satisfy me), and they definitely do target the areas bothering you with greater intensity without even asking. The prices are the same as the rest of Chinatown despite just how much people go to them, and the prices, as expected, don’t hurt your pocket. I’d recommend tipping more than the 15% as a result — i’m not too sure how much they pay their wonderful masseuses.Anyway, I always come for the back massage, so the tables feel clean and like laundry. They start off by covering you with a towel and applying pressure through that. Then, they move onto the oils and usually finish with the hot stones. If you speak more mandarin than me (I speak primarily cantonese and they are primarily mandarin), you can probably provide them with your preferences and they’ll definitely accommodate.Overall, great location, every masseuse I’ve had has been fantastic. Buy ten, get one free! And, new location on Canal street in case their Mott location is overwhelmed. :)

Every time Im in NY I stop in here even if only in the city for a day. When Im not in the city and need a massage Im sad that it wont be from one of the talented people at Zuyuan. The reflexology here is the most traditional Ive experienced in the state. It may be a little more painful then people are use to but if you can survive that your body will feel 10 years younger and thank you for it. I cant wait for the next time Im in the city as I really want a massage. Zy Yuan is a greatittle reflexology place in Chinatown. Here are some tips for maximizing the enjoyment of your visit1) make a reservation. They have a small place and super high volume. So its helpful to make sure you have a place so youre not waiting too long.2) be prepared for pain. Unlike Western masseue Chinese massage tends to be a lot more painful. Its not a bad massage. Its just a super painful one. Remember to breath. So in spite of 2) I still visit.
