I would give them 0 stars if i could. The care in the ER was horrific. Its filthy. The staff pretends to be deaf, and could not be less helpful if they tried. We waited 6 hours just for pain medication. Forget about actually doing a workup. Ive been to plenty of city ER and they are all bad, but this was awful!!!!

I had a simple hernia surgery at Allen. From the time I arrived until leaving I always had constant attention from staff. The room I spent most of my time waiting had a view of trees, the Harlem River and the Marble Hill train stop across the river. It was very relaxing long before i was given any sedative for the surgery. In recovery I was well monitored and cared for, once my vitals were correct I was able to get dressed and go home. Everyone was very professional and site felt clean, safe and peaceful.

The place is looks clean and honestly like a recently built hospital, which makes the physical setting feel more comforting and trustworthy, but the bad bedside manner and flippant attitude of (some, def not all)the nurses and doctors left a lot of room for improvement. If working with sick people or people who are suffering annoys you, you should not be working in a field where your relationship and communication with your patient is crucial. Do better. If it wasn’t for a considerate nurse, I think I’d have been vomiting stomach acid from my raw throat hours after begging for a SINGLE extra anti-nausea tablet. My doctor spoke to me condescendingly and accused me of being an alcoholic (lol), and when I was trying to explain what her coworkers told me, I was responded to with an oh-so-kind “I’m the only doctor here so thats a lie”. At least you inspire me to be better in my future career. Hope my stomach gets better soon! Its been three days of inability to eat properly :)

My grandmother is here with COVID. She is 83 years old. The other night they suspected a left sided paralysis and intubate her. They started they suspected a stroke and she was scheduled to have a CT. It has been over 24 hours and she has not had a CT. On top of that they rise to keep the family informed of any progress. They just do not anger the phone anymore. If it was one of their grandmothers I suspect they would behave differently. All I can say is, if you care about a loved one, do not send them here. And my one wish is that when they are someone’s grandma, they record the same treatment.

THE WORST HOSPITAL IN NYC! If you want to be seen by a doctor don’t come here, everyone takes their sweet time like the emergency room isn’t filled with people who are in a lot of pain. My mom’s fever and pain are both rising and all they can say in the front desk is “I can’t do anything, it’s not up to me”. Like I understand that you have a lot of patients but my mom is crying and literally can not move because her pain is just getting worse and worse. I don’t understand why they take hours and hours. If the doctors that are currently working this shift are not enough or fast enough can the hospital at least hire more so this doesn’t keep happening. Every time I come here it’s the same thing! Also, the lobby is supper dirty and looks like you can get more sick by just sitting there. Wish I could give zero stars!

Emergency RoomMy initial reaction to the Emergency Room was that of alarm. I don’t know how the receptionist and triage nurse are in the same area and close enough for other patients to hear. I guess HIPPA is not important there. Once inside the emergency room the area was clean and the nursing staff was knowledgeable and caring. It did take a while to get admitted and be transported to his room.ICUMarco is an amazing nurse. Most of the staff in the ICU are really wonderful people. The staff treated my father and his visitors with so much care. No place is perfect but the ICU staff to include nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, housekeeping and food service made a really difficult situation beariable. So many of the staff explained medical issues/concerns clearly, in a manner that was easy to follow. They never appeared annoyed when asked to explain the same information more than once. When faced with difficult medical decisions and tears were shed support and true concern was displayed. The love and support that my dad received was beyond what was expected and so appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ICU team, including the night shift.Food ServicesOatmeal in the cafeteria is really good. Price is reasonable for breakfast and lunch meals but it is not open for overnight shift. Staff are friendly but the sitting area was not the cleanist.ParkingTwo parking garages in the area which is totally needed because finding a parking spot on the street can be overwhelming.SafetySecurity guards are available on campus and all bags are checked when entering the hospital.Social WorkersNice and helpful once you finally get in contact with one of them. It took over three days before I was provided contact information.Patient ServicesMs. Valentine was immensely helpful and worked beyond her normal duties to assist my family. She made sure my father had a complete understanding of everything he had to sign and was so patient when he attempted to communicate. Truly appreciated.

I was a patient at The Spine Hospital in early August. When I arrived the morning of my surgery, I was warmly greeted and directed to the admission area. Once there, I was treated with patience and kindness and directed as to where I had to wait until being called in to prepare for surgery. Once, the medical staff had prepared me, my family was allowed to remain with me. They were treated with respect and were reassured that all would be well. While in surgery, my family were taken to a beautiful waiting room and provided with foods, snacks and beverages. My wife was kept informed of my progress in the operating room via her cell phone. It was not a text, but rather the nurse and the doctor. The nursing staff, in the recovery room and on the floor was outstanding. They were there when I needed them to assist me or answer any question. The discharge procedure was quick and efficient. This hospital transformed a frightening experience into a reassuring, comforting time. I have nothing but praise for The Allen Hospital - The Spine Hospital. 3 1/2 years ago I had the worst experience of my life giving birth. It was like they were trying to actively kill me. I was hemorrhaging and passing copious amounts of blood and they kind of ignored it. They sent me to recovery and when I stood up a river of blood flowed out. They then proceeded to hold me down while this vicious little mite of a doctor shoved her entire arm up my vagina while pushing down on my uterus. I screamed bloody murder and she got one inch from my face a screamed for me to shut up. The nurses looked shocked. And all I can say is I am lucky to be alive. This was after they threatened to call cps if I refused the hep shot for my daughter. And maybe sounded slightly more educated then the huddled masses that still think doctors are God. This place is horrifying and I pity anyone that has to go here. Run for your life.

May I say it was an horrible experience even thou we had an healthy baby. While my girlfriend was in the process of giving birth, the doctors leave to have a dispute in the hallway which took most of her delivery time. She wasnt hooked up to the I V and everything was just a horrible experience. The nurses on the other hand are very polite but lack knowledge of everything, literally everything. It seems like these people at Presbyterian Hospital, they have no compassion for the people in need, especially those who are really sick; they only care about charging the insurance company. My wife was looking for an answer to her back pain that was killing her, but they gave her some pills and a shot and didn’t run any tests on her. Right after, they just sent her home. We came back to the ER within 30 minutes because her legs were extremely swollen and again, they dismissed it saying “it was not an emergency” and sent her home. We decided to go to Montefiore, and they Took the initiative of running the appropriate tests and they discovered a hernia in her spine as well as a clot in her leg. They treated her like a person, not a dollar sign. If I could, I would rate them a 0.

This hospital seems to place their priority on substance abuse patients and alcoholics. Note that I am not judging the patients, I am judging the doctors in the Emergency Unit specifically Dr. Depp . My husband was brought in because of a heart related issue, 6 hours in Dr. Depp states my husband was perfectly fine although his EKG confirmed distress. You would think my husband was given something for his heart, not at all, chest pains and an EKG to confirm that something was indeed wrong with his heart was not enough to consider this a life threat. Honestly, the EMT that escorted us was more informative and had bedside manner than what my husband received here. Also, he was removed from his room just to be placed next to the staff members because the room he was in was given to someone else to get their stomach pumped.

If you ever wondered what it would have been like to be in a Stanley Kubrik film and were afraid the opportunity had passed you by, come to this hospital.Dozens of signs directing you to a parking kiosk that is completely unmanned. When I asked if someone was on-duty I was told to be patient he’s probably parking other cars. Instead, he came sauntering down the hall a few minutes later from the break room? Bathroom? Who knows. Then, the guards are positioned at the far back of the lobby. You naturally walk up to them and they yell at you to ‘go through security’. By this, they mean one of them was supposed to be standing by the metal detector and process you. Instead they were both sitting and having a chat and it’s your fault they didn’t do their job. Complete incompetence. Finally, the hospital itself it eerily quiet. There doesn’t appear to be anyone here, yet I’m waiting and waiting for my pre-scheduled MRI. Although NYP at Ft Washington is super crowded, I would rather have my services performed there - it is a much better run building. I am shocked this hospital is part of the same system. It is the poorly run, poorly managed experience I would expect in rural America. Two stars only because it appears clean. Then again, there’s only five people here so unlikely it sees a lot of foot traffic.

They have a good friendly staff but even though the emergency area was empty and they took me inside quickly ... they took an extremely long time to give me the help I needed to stop the pain. I thought I was going to die. When they did treated me, I started to feel better quickly and I am thankful.

Hands down the worst experience at a New York Presbyterian hospital. NYP is my go-to. I went by ambulance with good reason, and it took me an hour just to flag down a patient care tech or nurse to pull my bed into a supine position because I was too weak to, and I have postural pain. There were mosquitos flying around the emergency department. There was vomit in the ED patient restroom that wasn’t cleaned. I came and left Allen Pavilion in the exact same condition. No one saw me— 4 hours. I walked out. Took me forever to get home because of the pain, and I live 5 minutes away. I had a paramedic I know bring me what the hospital was supposed to give me at home. Not exactly supposed to happen that way..Now I’ll probably get a $10,000 bill just because they think they can.

If I could give no stars I would. Last summer when my uncle was admitted he was really sick. they put him on the geriatric ward because they didnt have space for him in intensive care and they didnt even have monitors on him to monitor his vitals. my brother was in the room with him and i had just walked in and noticed his lack of equipment. a couple of minutes later a nurse comes in and has the nerve to ask me and my brother sarcastically why we didnt come and get her; that my uncle was in distress. i responded back to her, why wasnt he on any monitoring equipment knowing how he needed to be in intensive care.they are the worst when i comes to bedside manner, common kindness.

Waited 3-1/2 hours in the ER just to be entered into another area to wait lord knows how long for the 1 doctor on call to see my boyfriend. Still here cringing on the discusting bathroom that has vomit since I got here and no one cares to clean it. Or the security guards that are on their phones instead of watching the door.Or maybe its the bloodied up people and asthma kids that arent being attended that is bothersome. Im going to pray to never be sick enough to have to actually come here and Im going to keep in my prayers those that do not have other options.

I am a doctor and a paient. Excellent facillity for ambulatory surgery. From the physicians to the support staff, everybody was warm caring and professional. Facility is clean, modern, and well supplied. I think most of the bad reviews are from emergency room patients who had to wait a long time.

I had several recent experiences at Allen. I had prostate surgery and when I came out of the anesthesia, my recovery room nurse, Soki, stayed next to me the whole time. I was release the next day, and a few days later, when I had a problem with my catheter, the ER staff saw me expeditiously. They resolved the problem. A few weeks later I fell and broke my pinky finger. The ER staff again saw me expeditiously and gave me excellent treatment.

Unbelievable! The lies being slung about by the nurses, staff and administration is as unprofessional as it gets. 6 hours we have waited to get discharged. 6!!! The doctor forgets to put the orders in and my poor father had to wait and wait. Make every effort to not come to this poor excuse for care.

I wish I didnt have to give 1 star! The wait is ridiculous there wasnt even a lot of people! I went with symptoms of a miscarriage I waited 2.5 hours I finally just left. They have a broken vending machine that makes a horrible noise because theres a soda stuck instead of just unplugging they rather have everyone in waiting area listen to the horrible sound it makes! Never coming here again!

This review is ONLY about their birthing room and post partum care. Our son was born 11/2017 and our experience was fantastic. Our OB Dr. Schott was not only knowledgeable but saved our sons life without hesitations or complications. She leads a staff of caring individuals who will be on top of your needs and making sure you have the birthing experience you deserve. Our nurse was Miosotis and I couldnt be happier with how she handled our admission and listened to my pregnant complaints and so on without ever judging but just supporting.Patient services was on top of their game about a negative experience we had prior our son being born when visiting and delivered on every promise they made and made up for whatever happened before. We are very grateful. The care in the room after birth is TOP NOTCH! nurses make sure you are comfortable, fed and happy 24/7 . There are lactation classes before you leave the hospital. My husband was allowed to room with me and was treated with the respect he deserved but being such a supportive husband and father. We got a handmade blanket for the baby by a lovely group of senior ladies and the food was so delicious!I will be delivering here again for sure.

Worst staff I ever had the displeasure to meet. 23 hours with pain sitting in a chair 4-6 hours then in a bed in the HALLWAY 8-10 hours finally 11th hour bed upstairs was ready at 5:30 a.m. your kidding me :/I had begged literally to comfort my pain(S) I repeatedly asked for food from 7:30 before 12 a.m. knowing I could not eat after 12 a.m. for surgery. Went to room at 5:30 still no pain killers ... called Administration which couldnt care less, a flock together.. I pulled I.V. out and left.So 23 hours of pain and suffering, inhumane, no empathy. Worst part I still need surgery. Two kinds of Doctors: 1.) Whos payment is helping others. 2nd type of Doctor just wants his check weekly. :( ITS SADAs for nurses some want to work the rest just want a job... go figure.

This place is a joke. First of all its been four (4) hours since they took my info and not even a nurse has spoken or given medication. I HAVE AN ABSCESS MOLAR AND ITS BLEEDING. Thank God I self medicated before coming to the hospital. Because this is a very painful experience.Im going to be honest, this is the second time Ive been to a Presby, first at 168th st and now this one, both times they failed to provide medication or any type of antibiotics.DONT COME IF YOU HAVE 10/10 PAIN. They dont care. In both cases they really dont care.I self medicated 800mg of ibuprofen because I knew from past experiences you guys would not give one single breath to help someone with a freaking ABSCESS MOLAR!Pathetic.3:47am been here since 11:50pm, basically vomited blood and a gauze was provided...Never again. Dont do it.

My Girl is in the maternity room awaiting to give birth just waiting for the for the baby to come out. Im in the cafeteria in the basement and i have to say is DO NOT EAT HERE. The cafeteria is infested with Roaches all over the place. They are comming out from within the counter and where the food its placed so people can serve themselves. As of right now all the tables are dirty with crumbs and food on them. This is a total disaster, and very nasty, filthy, and shameful for who ever has anything to do with the maintenance and management of the cafeteria here in the basement of Allen pavilion Hospital in 218 Manhattan,N.Y.C. We are better than that people.

Dr. Riew and his team are superb. Communications were timely and effective. My turn around was a day and a half which I attribute to the skill of Dr. Riew and his associates. My PT was short yet effective. (as always in NYC, check your parking status. The hospital has an independant contractor and they will ticket you if they can), otherwise my experience was positive throughout.

My father was here for a hip replacement and they had him in the wrong unit. So they never asked about him. We had to go to them to find out what was going on. All they did was keep him doped up so he would eventually die. Even the obnoxious doctor said us we can have 5 minutes of his time. There was nothing he could do he’s to old. We called another doctor and had him transferred immediately down to Columbia pres. on 168th st. Who not only repaired my fathers hip at 87 but saved his life. This hospital is great if u want to die. Otherwise, run out of this hospital as fast as u can. I realize the doctors here r from the bottom of the list. Who barely got out of med school. And extremely dirty. Should be shut down.

The wait time in the ER waiting room will kill you before whatever you have. I have been waiting for 2 hours without being seen. I have been in other ERs before, this is by far the worst one I have encountered.
