The covid visiting restrictions are insane. Its so hard for parents or their designated visitors to remain in the hospital all the time. My childs hospital stay would have been far easier had I had other family members give me a break. If you need to be in Columbia Hospital for a few days and have other obligations its extremely difficult if well meaning people cant help by coming to the hospital and relieving you. Most people dont want to commit to being the third on the list but are willing to come once a week for a few hours. And security is so rude. They wont dare crack a smile at the vulnerable patients and parents and theyre the first we see when arriving to the hospital. What a horrible welcome. Ive been to many hospitals and in other places security are firm yet kind. Theres always a nice way to say things but the word nice doesnt exist in the dictionary of Columbia Security.Thumbs up to the nicest nurses!

Very professional and friendly staff. Our child needed closed heart surgery and they made the experience to be as smooth as possible. During this time of covid, they made sure parents had their own secluded space away from people. The nurses we had were super nice and attentive. Our surgeon Dr. Bacha was awesome, Mike and Christian, best males nurses hands down. Thank you for making us feel at ease during our time there. 5 Stars!Security staff, you get ZERO stars for being rude and unprofessional, and on my follow up visits Ill be sure to take a photo of you guys wasting time flirting with women so your wives can implement the karma thats due to you. 👮📸🤨

This place isn’t that great . WARNING!!!! If your child has to have blood drawn be very careful of the lab in room 114. IF YOU WALK IN AND SEE ANDREA ALEXANDER RUN THE OTHER WAY!! Forget the fact that she’s obnoxious and rude she can’t find a vein for the life of her and will make your kid cry for an hour it’s heartbreaking. Avoid at all costs and Columbia claims she’s the best they have . That’s pretty frightening.

The staff needs to be trained on how to handle being around a service dog that is working. Next time I will be talking to a lawyer.

Amazing experience! Delilah in Labor and delivery was wonderful! Afua was amazing in Neonatal ward! PLEASE NOTE FOR NEW MOTHERS!: As far as lactation specialists and three hospital in general, they should advise that you might not produce enough milk and may need to resort to formula. Our baby was born on 12/23 and due to Xmas on Friday, our first pediatric appointment was on Monday 12/28 and our baby had severe jaundice. It was because I was not producing nearly enough for her and she had jaundice for a week since we had to make up for it. I think the hospital should inform first time mothers to pump and keep an eye out for their milk. We asked how do we know if were producing enough and we were told not to worry about it since she was doing well in the hospital.

The experience here was absolutely horrible. The 2 stars are only for the doctor and her team that ended up being the ones who did my wifes procedure. We were scheduled at 10 for a surgical procedure. We were there at 9:30 am. Mind you, noone from the hospital called us to confirm the date and time the day before as we were told would happen. So the morning of, we were trying to figure things out. We called the L&D dept when we arrived, and they told us someone would call us back. Almost an hour later, nothing. We decided to just go up. When we got there, the reception desk asked my wife where was she all this time. Needless to say, this was infuriating. The worst of it all, they made my wife wait 9 hours before having her procedure with a doctor that was not planned to do the procedure. The nurses were nice, but we couldnt figure out why in the world would they put the IV needle in her wrist- which was painful for for the entire 9 hours she had to wait. An absolutely horrible experience. There is no communication between nurses, staff, and doctors. Everyone kept asking us the same questions and noone provided any information. We do not want to return to this hospital (NYP Cohens Children Hospital).

I’m in the ER right now. I’ve been here since yesterday at 7pm. Now while I am lucky to have a table to lay down on, there is just no excuse for the absent minded, lackadaisical staff. You would think that after being here so many hours, someone might offer me a snack? Well they didn’t. I was told the nurse had to ask the doctor. Tumbleweeds, that was 3 hours ago. I just asked for an update on my plan of care and was told by a chain of people that someone would be in to talk to me....again tumbleweeds while I freeze and starve to death! All while having 100+ fever!!! Unbelievably that this is considered the best hospital. They better think again!!

Absolute joke of a hospital. Our son was born there in June. They forgot to record his birth certificate. Now 2 months after his birth we find out that they screwed his first name up (a three letter name) and told us we have to jump through hoops to fix THEIR HUGE error. All they said to us is that mistakes happen. If they make basic mistakes like this Id be very wary of allowing your kid to be born here.

The surgeon I give a 5 star.Cardiologist 5 star.Hospital stay and care 5 star. But after care was very confusing. They told me to call them for any issues we had after open heart surgery but then I called and they told me to call our local cardiologist (not affiliated with my sons surgery) but we aren’t seeing him until Thursday. The cardiologist before being discharged at the hospital told me to call them for any issues before we see his local cardiologist and call our cardiologist after he sees us... but then when I called them they told me to call him instead of them ... so confusing. I would understand this if it was something minor but heart surgery is major and I’d think they’d want to provide the same service while in hospital as out until they are no long responsible. But maybe I’m not understanding how things work ther.

Ill start by saying that the hospital and staff are great .. this review is entirely for the security at the front desk. They are the first point of interaction with visitors at your hospital, and they have disgusting additudes and lazy work ethics because continuously they arent scanning out the visiting passes returned, causing delays, and upset to people coming in to visit their love ones. Ive had family members have to leave because they insist in nurses calling down stairs to do their jobs when the nurses have more than enough work to be done with the patients. Front desk only has one Job: to check visitors in and check out tags once they leave. Ive even seen one of the security guard on a personal call on the hospital phone .. for the renowned reputation that this hospital holds, it should have exceptional employees greeting their visitors ... there are plenty of people that want to work and here you have a group of employees that put together dont even make one fair employee .. Probably my review will fall on death ears, but because I am in the medical field and have to work with people this is no way to run a business interacting with people. If your not a people person and dont want to be bothered it is best to find security positions guarding cars.

I recently had my twins there. After an excruciating more than 20 hours trying to be induced for natural, I had no other option than to go with a C section which I was not pleased. The doctors and nurses in labour and delivery were fantastic and they made sure me and my babies made it alive. But the best part of my experience there was Loida, from postpartum floor. I can honestly say, I never had someone taking so good care of me and my babies. She went above and beyond on providing me every little thing that I needed. She was there for my babies and taught me so many things. Loida is definetly the best nurse they have in the whole hospital: caring, professional, amazing with babies and moms, lovely person. I would go back to give birth there only to have the care and attention that Loida provides to her patients. Great job Loida. Nathan and Emily thanks you for the great care you gave them😊

Walked in with my daughter dehydrated and besides us waiting extremely long, they ended up not giving her anything stating it was a virus and it will go away in its own. We immediately took her to Montefiore and they gave her a medicine to stop the vomiting and put her on an iv. She felt much better after that. Pleaseeee don’t bring your kids here, the fact that too many people come here will result in less attention for your kids. This hospital is too busy in my opinion

We came to Morgan Stanley Childrens Hospital for my 2 year old daughter to have a heart catheterization procedure. We travelled from Upstate NY. Dr. Matthew Crystal was amazing and did a great job. The information he gathered let us learn that my daughter will need another open heart surgery in the near future. He was extremely personable and kind. My daughter had her first open heart surgery at Boston Childrens Hospital and we were there for a month. BCH may be more visually appealing but the staff (nurses and drs) are just as skilled and friendly at MSCH. We will be returning to MSCH for her upcoming open heart surgery and we are confident that she is in capable hands. Thank you to MSCH and Columbia Med for a job well done. My little girl came out of her heart procedure safe, without complications and now we have a better idea of where we stand. I cannot ask for more. ❤

The Childrens emergency is the worst place Ive ever been. Had a horrible experienceand Ill never take my baby there again. I can never recommend this place to anyone. My baby went in there without fever and they said my baby has fever. The doctor was incompetent. They had no idea how to control the incubator. They had made it incredibly hot in there and my baby had been sitting under blue lights and a hot incubator for hours. When they came to take my babys temperature they said it was high. They had no feelings. Every time someone would lay a finger on my baby she would start crying. She was scared, she was in shock. Horrible place. When I started telling them all this and how displeased I was with them they called another E.R. doctor in and a couple of incubator technicians. They had them explain to me that the incubator does not raise the body temperature, but I did notice that they lowered the temperature inside the incubator form 36.5 to 32. When I bought this up to them they tried to brush it off and say no thats not the reason the body temperature went up, it doesnt work that way but I told them I dont buy it. They put my baby through hell anyway and just like I thought and felt all the tests came back negative, as I believed there half never been any fever, it was the incompetent doctor that was the problem. Once they had lowered the temperature to the incubator my babys temperature never went above 37. Thats it for me and that place, its the place on earth I would go to.

So let me start by saying the nurses were kind but not as gentle as you would want them to be with your baby. They let my baby go a little sick which is weird but okay. The parking valet staff was horrible worst experience in my life. The manager Bridgette S. was like a mad black women. She was stressing me out more despite my situation because I didnt have my discharge paper until later on in the day and I needed to get clothes for my baby. That was the rudest person and so awful. I pray to god they changed those people to work in a childrens hospital and giving moms a hard time over petty ness. When I called her management team spoke with peopleLike Juan and a Luis who claim they will accommodate me for what she was putting me through and they lied as well. I dont wish anyone bad but god dont like ugly. I dont want this to happen to anyone so please spread the word they should not work with a hospital period. My experience was traumatic. And I still have tension because of what she put me through.

Our daughter had a congenital heart defect. Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery and Dr. Q was amazing they get a star. Nursing staff was incredible they get a star. Our issues and reason for no more stars are listed below.1. Child Life and Parent Support system not present.2. Rounding does not occur until 10-1pm. Depending on severity. This creates a huge problem, heres why. Anyone can tell you shifts run 12 hrs typically 7 to 7s. If orders are not placed until as late as 1 or 2pm they may not happen the same day. Especially approaching a weekend or end of shift. When you are in an environment where rounding occurs between 7a and 9a it allows for orders to be submitted at the beginning of a shift, and guarantees that the day staff can complete their orders and cares. Attending doctors are available during the day to be more involved in care and understand their patients needs. While residents usually handle night care and can monitor and report overnight issues.3. We were very disappointed in this culture of care. Poor organization and follow through.4. We are happy with our decision for Surgery with Dr Q, but our care at Montefiore was far more organized, the communication was excellent, the level of follow up and most importantly being involved in their interdisciplinary rounding made all the difference in the world.

Amazing place. I was refered here for a surgical consultation with Dr.Steven Stilianos. My older sister had surgery with him to remove her appendix. My gastro doctor thought of the same surgery. Stilianos was very kind and broke down his thoughts for both my parents and me to understand. We decided that the surgery was the best option. The day of the surgery, he was ready to start quickly after we arrived. Pre op techs were kind and made sure we had no questions. The anastesiologist and op nurse came and told me and my parents how it would go. They were very nice. When it was time for my surgery, a nurse came and walked with me to the operation room. I was explained all the machines and what they would do during me surgery. After that, i quickly went to sleep. When i woke up, i was quickly given something to eat and drink. The nurses were consistent in making sure i was holding things down and my oxygen was stable. They came to ckeck my vitals and oxygen every 5 to 10 mins. After less than 2 hours in recovery, i was allowed to go home. We were explained what happened during the surgery, and it went with no complications. My parents were very p,eased with the work done, and my stiches were minimal and well bandaged. Overall, the experience, from the clean hospital, the kind staff, the superb work by the surgeon, this place is one of the best for peadiatric medical needs. I definetly recommend it.

Also they dont even provide the wife whom is having severe abdominal pains with a place to lay down, like they have a shortage of beds. I seen hospitals what is considered a 3 world country give better service. Your better going to a UN foundation than the emergency rooms here at Presbyterian hospital. Lincoln hospital and NYU treat you more human than the dump here at 168 Presbyterian hospital. They are more interested In Your insurance process than really doing anything to attend you. The recipetionest. Are drones that they just place your name on a waiting list. Based at the arrival time. Instead of the nature of the emergency. Or even starting a triage process. Not worth the money they charge you for the poor quality of service they provide. The Presbyterian hospital is just a name shame. Very disappointed

On 11/21/18 I took my daughter to the pediatric ER located at 3959 Broadway.Security was nice, front desk down stairs was pleasant. The individual that was conducting patient registration was on his cell phone with the speaker on while stating my demographic information to me....could use further training regarding HIPAA. My child was called in for vitals and the staff that took my child’s vitals did not say a word to me, remained silent. No customer/patient service what so ever. I told her thank you a few times and there was no response from her. Then we got called into the back to see the doctor, the other staff that took us to the back also did not say a word till she had to direct us to the room in where we would be waiting for the doctor. If anyone thought that was terrible including myself it only got worse when the doctor arrived, he didn’t introduce himself at all. Only said “yes” instead of hello I’m doctor so and so, what brings you in today? Like other doctors with professionalism would say. Then in the end when we were being discharged Dr Laurence Williams stated to me “don’t take her temperature cause then you will see a 103 and go oooooo oh my god and come running to the ER”. What doctor says that!? An unprofessional one, why discriminate and make assumptions cause you see a woman that appears young bringing in 1 child that is a toddler to the ER. I work in the Healthcare field and am a professional as well. This isn’t my first rodeo with children, I don’t utilize the ED for anything I always utilize my children’s pediatrician. I didn’t come to the ER only because of her very high fever...I was more concerned about her breathing. He should not be allowed to speak to parents of patients like that. I thought the culture of NY Presbyterian was a culture of caring and putting patients at the center. This hospital definitely does not align with the morals and values of the rest of NY Presbyterian hospitals. Definitely should not have contact with patients/clients in this line of work if you don’t care.

My daughter was given a heart from a POST LIVER TRANSPLANT patient. Which you arent supposed to do. The infection went to her brain. After a long 3 months and many brain surgeries my poor little 8 yr old daughter died. I saw 1 child in 3 months live. Nursing staff great would NEVER trust the doctors.

Ive been to this hospital so many times with my pregnant fiance im going to make a few points about this hospital1. The wait time is way more than 3 hours its 5+2. The nurses are inexperienced and they lack respect , customer service and discipline .3. There a hospital with a hygiene issueThey do not consider the amount of pain your going through .We come all the way from Brooklyn just to be able to get the best service and we dont this place needs to step there game up because i will not tolerate the lousy service and disrespect .

My experience? (childrens hospital E.R.) how can people give this emergency room 3 or 4 stars? are you just staying -home parents?...for sure you will wait a ridiculous several hours (if you are lucky) to receive medical attention. I have two visits in count that I left their E.R. without seeing the doctors. I live in Inwood and I am looking for a good Childrens E.R. Do your guys have any suggestions? I used to go to Wyckoff pediatric in Brooklyn. I would not recommend the adults services, but I will definitely do the pediatrics. Unfortunately that hospital is very far from uptown Manhattan.

6th time in the emergency and always a six to eight hour wait time just to be seen. This time 5 hours and I walked out. Do not go if your child is not bleeding or something of the sort. A father to another child told us before he walked out some doctors were watching the game though. We waited an hour after the game and still nothing. There were four people waiting when I walked in, about 15 more cases arrived and almost emptied out again...just too busy to really care.

I’ve had surgery here back in 2013, nurses were horrible, they did not have feelings towards patients with pain, they were very robotic in the way they handled their patients. Doctors were like phantoms, you barely see them while being hospitalized or when even requesting them. And when they do send you a doctor it’s a 16-year-old.

If I could give it a ZERO, I would. worst experience ever. I went there a few years ago with my son, just renovated. I had to wait 4 hours and my son vomited so many times that he even fainted. I ended up going to another hospital 20 minutes later my son had medication and was much better. Today, a few years later same story. I gave the benefit of the doubt and I extremely regret it. If a parent goes to the emergency room is because there is a potential of something going on with the childs health. I am not a doctor I can just guess. For me to wait hours to see a doctor is a disrespect. I dont know what was wrong with my child. Please if you have another option avoid this place. Some people walked out including me and three mothers were pleading for help. Cut the technology and hire doctors. This community needs a decent hospital. Have some respect for people that pay taxes.
