Amazing place for vegan meat substitutes! Any type of meat that you can imagine, they have a substitute there. The prices are very reasonable too. I’ve loved everything that I’ve tried so far. You can also get a membership for 15% off for $20/year. The staff was very friendly, and it was conveniently located close to the subway. This is definitely my go-to spot for vegan groceries!

My favorite store to shop for my vegetarian items. Im in & out within 10 minutes due to it being a small store. Unless it happens to be Sample Day, which holds my attention and keeps me there longer. Being able to sample the food before I buy it, has helped me decide on many favorites that I buy no matter what when Im there.

The best place ever to purchase vegan chicken, ribs and other products. They also carry a great selection from other local vegan spots- like Kozy toast cakes and Buddha Bodai! They carry powder bouillon for soup base that’s really good, noodles, etc.Animal exploitation and oppression are unnecessary with delicious food like this available.

Lady with the bob steps from behind the register to watch me looking at mock beef and chicken on the shelf. I then stop, make eye contact she turns around and walks away. I grab drumsticks from the freezer and decide to return one item to the shelf, as I turn to walk towards the register the Indian man has now stepped into the aisle, and he too is watching me. I specifically came for the vegan drumsticks and now you’ve lost me as a customer. I was in the store 4-6 minutes and felt uncomfortable the whole time. I regret giving you my business but I hope other people of color see this post and have an idea of who they’re giving their money to.

This is a great store for vegan meat products. It might be the best vegan meat store in America. I go there specifically for the vegan hams. They run about 10 to 15 dollars and theyre quite delicious--Packed with protein. There is a lot of other stuff to try and you come out of there with more things that youre expecting to because they have so many wonderful offerings. The staff is friendly. Its not a big store but theres a ton of of different items to choose from. Its also well located in Little Italy and very close to Chinatown, so theres plenty to do around the area. Its really a fun trip to go down there. I wish Id found this place 15 years ago. Highly recommended!

Nice little cozy vegetarian market off the beaten path in Chinatown. There has been a vegetarian market at this location for 25+ years and now reinvented under a new name and a new business card. Not sure if its the same owners but staff were friendly and bilingual. This helps with the influx of vegans wanting to try Asian delicacies during the pandemic. They look and taste very much like the real deal!

Very unique store offering a big selection of vegan Asian foods that are hard to find normally. Weve tried and enjoy the frozen streamed buns, and frozen Mongolian beef(stir-fried with broccoli)—texture is incredibly like meat! Its comparable to gluten. The stinky tofu is comparable to the memorable, fried ones on the streets of my hometown, Hong Kong. Definitely recommend trying May Wahs products at least once.

Amazing selection of vegan meat and fish substitutes with a decent amount of western brands (Beyond Meat, Cool Haus) and a ton of great Asian products besides the meat substitutes (frozen baos, noddles, candy, condiments). The prices are more affordable than other vegan places. I was in the East Village the same day and saw some of the same products priced at a few dollars more for the same things than at May Wah/Lily’s. Small caveat, some of the staple Asian food products (ie hoisin) are pricier than at other groceries in Chinatown. Overall, a fantastic place!

We ordered a few different things. Most importantly the ham for Easter. Ive always prepared my hams with a brown sugar and clove sauce, but it was a bit overpowering on this vegan ham. I would love some Wah Mei right now. From what I was told, a few years back the owners sold it to another person and that person renamed is Wah Mei (Originally Mei Wah). The Pork Chop or Chicken Leg rice with sauce and and spinach is amazingly good and cheap, especially for a shop in Manhattan albeit Chinatown location. What makes Wah Mei amazing isnt the plastic dish bowl, the slanted shop location or the cheap prices, but the sauce. For those of you who havet tried to sauce, its really something amazing. I would love to dunk that on my rice everyday if I could. You can purchase the food and then go next door to eat, or you can go next door and ask the cashier to purchase it, either way, its the same price and you get to sit down and enjoy your food. The decor inside the shop to the left is sets a really nice and relaxing tone to wind down and just eat.I dont have any dislike, it really is just a place where you can sit down, eat and leave feeling satisfied in both stomach and wallet.I love that the food is filling, its definitely cheap, and the taste is good. I wont tell you to eat this everyday because I dont believe its healthy, but try it just once, especially if youre a person who has an affinity for salty taste.

Tasty & sinful fried chicken leg! If you order it with rice, it comes with some vegetables and a special & tasty meat sauce over the rice. The pork chop is not as good as the chicken leg but its value for money & better than elsewhere. Watch out as its a little oily but thats what fried food is all about.

I was in there this afternoon for the second time in my life, and although it had what I wanted, and although I really, really wanted to like this place, I was very, very irritated by the workers following me around the store. Its a tiny but wide open place so its easy to see whats going on. When I got there, there was a group of tourists in there, and when they left, it was just me and no one else left in the store. You dont have to hover over me like you DIDNT do with the European tourists. The young male cashier who rang me up was very sweet and friendly and so was one young woman, but they really should take it easy with the profiling. Im willing to give the place one more shot.

The racism I face upon entering this store over the years has been what has kept me away from shopping on site. Very inexpensive food and it is fast food. The Chicken Wing and Porkchop have been fried and left out there for a while so you might end up getting something thats dry when you finally bite into it. The pickled vegetables are way too sour for my palate and it doesnt go right with the hot sauce. When repeatedly telling the waitress I dont want the pickled vegetables, they insist on putting on my plate anyway.I would always recommend the Tea Leaf Egg as it will kill the taste of pickled vegetables done wrong.

Sorry to hear about Sams bad experience. Dont leave any high protein food out for too long, it will go bad. This is true of tofu too. I moved out of the NYC area about 5 years ago and now live in upstate NY. This store has been a saving grace for me, since I can order it to be shipped to my home. I love the vegan and vegetarian options. I do a lot of home cooking and invite all of my non-vegetarian friend over for dinner and they are amazed. Great way to get some extra protein in the diet. You do still need to know how to cook the meat substitutes and flavor your foods appropriately, for things to come out good (just like I suspect one needs to do for real meat). Try making potatoes-au-gratin and use the vegan smoked ham. Dice it and sauté with some diced sweet onions, then add to the cream and cheese sauce for the potatoes and bake in the oven however your recipe suggests (warning, not vegan, but I go home with an empty pan every time I take this dish to an event).

Though the product is very good. Shipping costs proved to be too much for us. We have to look for a closer supplier. Shipping to the west coast was $55, but received a call from them saying they would have to ship it 3 day (since a large order and UPS would take a week) and it would cost an additional $78. $120+ in shipping! Had to cancelled a $200+ order. we have used them several times in the past, but cant do it anymore. Maybe its lack of volume, but Ive received frozen foods from other companies in foam coolers in a matter of days or a fraction of the costs. Very disappointed!
