The hotel is nice and very well located. But staff is horrible. I have never been in a hotel where the staff is less friendly. They always make you feel like youre bothering them. You cant ask for help or advice because their answer is always Cant help you while playing with cellphone. Generally people who work in hospitality are very hospitable, generous and friendly. It is not the case. They just want time to pass and finish their shift. Very bad employees. And without a competent manager to make them to do their job.

This hostel is great if you stay a few nights in NY and are looking for affordable housing options in Manhattan. The rooms were not so small, with enough space for two persons and concerning the bathrooms, even though theyre not the cleanest it is widely acceptable. The location just across Central Park is amazing, we enjoyed very much our stay there! We were two girls and felt really safe there !

I enjoy this YMCA because the prices I have paid so far for 2021 are under $100.00Once 95. When I booked an hour beforeThe second 88. 00 per night And I got it for 2 nights each! Its clean quiet and I could use the 2 pools and gym with that price. I purchased one of their silicone swim caps for 10.00 and they let you know that another store sells them too but I was not interested in the name of the store Kevin Marin mentioned. This employee is professional, kind and courteous. The room came with a card key and a 3 digit code to use the showers and toilets. You could rent rooms with those facilities also I believe but my budget was not that good to even inquire. The room has a single bed sturdy and comfortable, a comfy comforter, air conditioner and TV both have remote controls. A window, adjustable louvered blinds, a safe which I never used. Door with strong sturdy lock and chain. A lg desk and a door less closed. Mine had one hanger only and I used rod too. A clean plastic garbage can with a new clean garbage bag in it.The location is super! Its located on West 63 st between Central Park West and Broadway. At the corner of B/Way there is a large clean fruit and vegetable stand where you could purchase any type of fruits. There are the silver trucks selling Halal food and Mexican food. But the best of all is the Time Warner building 4 short blocks away on the opposite side where there is a giant Whole foods Market inside with 2 escalators! One for going down and another going up, ck out the view, the ambience is an experience to behold. Now the varieties of well prepared gourmet dishes cold and hot to purchase in any size each and afford healthy tasty meals, plus you could go purchase your variety if coffees and teas and if you have finished shopping they will then check out your groceries too at that particular counter! If not check out always have several lines to cash out and a self service line. After cashing out you could get your utensils on the left and napkins and proceed to eat some or all if your food right in the eating area on their white marble tables. Use their toilets which are clean. Save money with a variety of sm dishes and pay zero tip. Take the rest if your food back to the Y. And watch TV, read, write, go to the gym or pool and eat some more food while watching TV.There is a plug to charge up your phone and laptop. Only 1 so when one is charged use another.

When members were leaving and discontinuing their memberships in 2020 due to Covid, we stayed on and kept paying for membership in order to support it. However, the services at its Swimming Pool Dept have gone from bad to worse. Over the past few months, members would show up for their morning swim and have been made to wait because a lifeguard did not show up. If this occurred sporadically, it would have been acceptable. But it has become a regular occurrence and members have been known to leave disappointed not having swam for the day. Today, Sept 8, 2021 the small pool was scheduled to be fully open after more than one week of maintenance/cleaning, but to our dismay, we were told it was closed and will open at 12 noon. That is not what its membership bulletin circulated.Do we, its loyal supporters deserve this miserable service?

I hope they take this as feedback so they can improve:It was not clean (I even found a used soap bar in the room). It is too old (give the poor rooms a little renovation please!)It was noisy, both on the outside and the inside (I kept hearing doors slamming all night long)Bathrooms were really uncomfortable. Nowhere to leave your stuff and the thing (the opaque sticker thing) that is suppoused to give u some privacy while showering was all peeled off (it is a shared bathroom)And I could go on and on...Some good things: good location, mostly kind staff, has a good gym and kinda cheap, but no way I am coming back.

This might sound like a bad review but its actually not. I would definitely stay here again and again.Located one block over from the West side of Central Park on 63rd. And East of Lincoln Center. Front entrance has scaffolding that blocks the only sign so its easy to pass by. Found this on a couple websites. 1/3rd of the price of other hotels. Small room about the size of a prison cell. My room had a twin bed one thin pillow, one sheet one blanket but it was quite comfortable. My room looked out over Central ParkRoom had individual window AC that worked well. One lamp, small flat screen tv, one dresser and closet with no door and a single chair. Tv remote batteries were dead. Two towels placed on dresser for shower, no wash clothes.Shared bathroom with all people on same floor. 3 commodes, 3 sinks 2 urinals, 3 glass showers but I never encountered another guest. Both women and men on same floors and bathrooms for each.Rooms are as basic as you can get but it works and there are 2 Walgreens nearby if you need toiletries or snacks. No fridge or microwave. Notice says wifi available in common use areas but I was able to get on in my room. Pool was closed. I had a full schedule so didnt take time to explore the other amenities offered.Walking distance to Times Square. Ill definitely stay here again

If youre room number is on a wing of the building ends in 62 - 51, good luck. The shower doors had no opacity or shower curtains for privacy.I woke up with bug bites from the beddings. The staff needs training in hospitality & customer service. The hallways smell of cigarette smoke.I constantly take trips to NYC. Guy at my check in was not so happy that he sees me. The room was small and very dated. It was no so clean, so when I walk in, I was so disappointed. Wanted to take another hotel, but this hotel charged my stay in advance. The bed was uncomfortable, with little pillow made of some kind of plastic material. Window was broken in AC part. Floor was dirty. The TV didnt work good, it was snow on the picture. There was no door isolation, so you can hear everything what happening at corridor. In one word, hotel was complete disaster, especially for me, because I use to much higher standards. And heard they got better rooms, but my was complete disaster. But, only and most valuable good thing is LOCATION. Is literally a few steps from the Central Park. After a few sleepless night, I use to my room, and start to enjoy in NYC. After a bad begin, I was ok with room. Im an avid hostel traveler, so Ive seen it all - good and bad. In 2019 we stayed at the West Side YMCA and it was lovely! Were currently staying at the same YMCA (8th floor) and this floor needs serious improvement. Shower curtains are transparent, no privacy; womens bathroom looks like it hasnt been cleaned in weeks (Im too scared to dare take a shower); I knew the rooms were small based on our previous stay but the room appears dirty. We found a huge creepy crawly in the closet space which we had to kill this morning. The towels we were given had brown stains on them. The whole hall smells thick of cigarette smoke... Not sure if the West Side Y has gone downhill since 2019 or if it is just the floor were staying on....

Very professional security, no complains. He was doing his job well all the time. This time at the front desk was African American male about 6’0 feet tall, super skinny, slow and weird looking with long beard. He refused to give me his name. He said that they wouldn’t put 2 people in room 1103 and refuses to give me key card. Just for the information.. Room 1103 designed for 2 people only lolAfter that answer I asked him to “please go to the back and find out who staying in room 1103” if he has no information at the computer... this skinny kid started being very rude to me and to my mom!!! 60 years old nicest lady you ever meet in your life!Told us that we can’t tell him what to do and that we have to go wherever country we came from. Was very disrespectful by trying to fake my moms accent. He has anger issues. Super unprofessional behaviour. He has some hate against immigrants for sure! Worst front desk service on earth! needs to be trained up properly for the job or fired. After he realized that he made a mistake and we are actually staying in 1103 and all necessary information has been in the computer all the time and he just couldn’t find it for some weird reason...probably just didn’t know what he was doing! He never apologize to my mom and just through key card on the desk. And after all this HE NEVER EVEN CHECKED MY ID!!!!! NEVER!!! That what front desk suppose to do first if someone asking for the key! And he didn’t even charge the key, probably doesn’t know how...so it didn’t work at the door.If you are the manager and you ridding this, check video cameras! Don’t listen what that rude kid says! He never ask for my ID and never checked who I was...I was thinking to call the police but my mom is too nice to people and talked me back out of this idea.Be careful guys if you staying at this hostel ... there is some angry, crazy employs out there!Rude, unprofessional, hatful, disgusting personalities!P.S. Every bad thing you read about the bathrooms are true. The location of this place is amazing and the rooms are small, but alright. If you wanna stay in Manhattan relatively cheap, this is the place to be. But on our floor there were only 2 toilets for ladies. One of them had no seat and the other was constantly clogged. Not to mention the showers that you couldnt turn off fully. No hooks for clothes or towels or anything. So if you go here, go to the third floor for a shower. The YMCA can be recommended to everyone, that wants to be active while staying in NYC, the gym area is incredible and spreads over thee levels. It includes a lot of regular gym devices, but also a swimming pool and an extra area for spinning, doing gymnastics or playing basketball. Terrible, the staff at check in was very grumpy and we did not feel welcome at all. The rooms are tiny and definitely not being cleaned properly, there was all kinds of stains on the walls and floor. The bed made the most noise so everytime I would be tossing and turning my boyfriend would wake up from the bed being so loud. The walls are very thin so we could hear everything going on in the surrounding rooms. A lot of young people come here so we would be woken up at 5 by them singing and screaming in their rooms. The doors of the rooms are very heavy so everytime a door would shut we could hear it. The showers and bathrooms are disgusting and poorly made, they are also very crowded. There is no hot water at all so that was a very bad way to start my day every time. During our stay, someone triggered the fire alarm and we got little to no instructions from the staff. They asked us to come downstairs and after that they gave us no information at all. We saw the fire department pull up and when they left they told us to go back upstairs without any explanation. I did not expect a lot from this place but this was even worse than I could ever imagine. If I could turn back time, I would definitely spend a little more for a clean hotel or hostel with warm showers and nice service.

I should have paid more for a better room because the bunk beds with 4 beds were small and the frames are flimsy. I would have been better off getting 2 queens instead of 4 twins. It feels like a prison cell. Functionally, it was a place to sleep. It served its purpose. But there isn’t any luxury aspect to the hotel because of the communal bathroom, small rooms, waiting forever to check in.......

Their staff workers were super friendly and funny! I really enjoy at this hotel because you can use their gym, basketball court, and workout for free. The elevator goes fast. I do like their room with good AC condition and tv. Prefect! The bed wasnt comfortable because it bounce and he pillow was too soft. You will be close to Central Park, Lincoln Center, and 59th Subway. Im highly recommend for anybody to come here

The womens bathroom of our floor (7th) could use a good refresh. Nice location just beside Central Park. All in all a good hotel in a good location with great transport connections. I guess you get what you pay for. The hotel is absolutely beautiful we did not want to leave.

I stayed for 15 nights at a Deluxe bedroom with shared bathroom. The advantage of the Deluxe is that the bathroom is private while youre in there (its not like a gym bathroom). Staff people are not so nice and receptive. There were 2 nights the heating and hot water were off for maintenance. Bathrooms are constantly cleaned but need some maintenance (sinks are almost falling, hangs are broken). Although everything I would stay here again.
