Excellent doctor. Caring, compassionate, very explanatory. Excellent bedside manner and sense of humor as well! Saw Dr Borenstein for a hair transplant and he made me feel very comfortable. Very good job administering the anesthesia as well. Even went out of his way to bring me lunch. The best. Highly recommended.

SCAM ALERT! This “doctor” prescribed a medication to me that is very dangerous for my health. Unknowingly I took it. To date, 3 medical professionals have confirmed how dangerous AND unnecessary this was! When I asked him about it he got very defensive and angry (I have recordings). Aside for the danger aspect, he is extremely unprofessional: taking calls and answering texts while in session, cutting the session short, running very late and no apology, and refusing to answer reasonable questions. Please save your money abs health and don’t make the same mistake I did!

I came to him on a sharp decline with COVID-19 after being under the care of a different but ineffective (yet respected) physician. Dr. Borenstein was kind and caring and so much more knowledgeable than that other doctor. Dr. B. was clearly up on all the latest research and treatment protocols. He explained exactly why he prescribed everything and why some medical research is better than others. He obviously put my health as his first priority. I can say unequivocally that he saved me from having to go to the hospital. When my friends and colleagues ask me how I got better when it seemed like I was hospital-bound, I tell them about the doctor who doesn’t just read pamphlets from the medical leadership but keeps up with the primary research himself. Not all physicians put in the time to read primary research carefully. Many just read pamphlets and abstracts. Dr. Borenstein puts in the time, keeps up, and formulates his own medical opinions. If you want a real doctor that will put you ahead of politics, he’s your guy!

I was really hopeful about this Doctor. I can only speak from my experience but I would say if youre suffering from long covid like me, dont go to him. Our first visit he was attentive and prescribed me a long regimen of supplements before seeing my blood tests. I did appreciate the full blood work up so I could see what was off. Anyway, second appointment he barely talked to me for 5 minutes. He said my blood work looked like it had improved with the supplements ( I HADNT STARTED THEM YET SO THIS WAS JUST MY REGULAR BLOOD WORK ) - In both appointments that I regretfully paid so much for he told me to buy everything from his website and expected me to pay $250+ a month to keep up with this insane regimen that was clearly over prescribed. LASTLY AND PERHAPS MOST IMPORTANTLY, he is self-involved and NOT a good listener. I asked him what he thought of the Covid vaccine for a long hauler like myself and he didnt even answer my question. Instead he said I would never get the vaccine. If I was absolutely forced I would take J&J but I wouldnt get any covid vaccine! Again, I asked him what I should do not him... my advice is if youre suffering from Long covid go to Mt sinai Post covid care or another doctor who is actually up to date on the current research and isnt just making assumptions about covid and treating it as if its a different disease because it shares similarities with others. Thanks

Dr. Borenstein is amazing! He has gone above and beyond what most physicians have been able to do for me. He clearly has the experience and understanding of thyroid function treatment and overall health that most physicians Ive worked with lack. What a gift he is within the field of medicine. His combination of traditional, alternative and holistic approaches are so needed ....and hard to find!

I was having incredible pain in my back and shoulder area. I had no idea what caused it. I just woke up that way and it went on for days. My muscles must have gone into a bad spasm. First I tried over the counter pain killers. Then some prescription muscle relaxers. Nothing worked. Usually these things would help me but not this time. Then I went to see Dr. Borenstein. He performed acupuncture and used electrical stimulation of the muscles on my back and shoulder area. He told me I should feel better by the next day, but I might need one or two more treatments. Honestly, I didn’t believe him. I was really skeptical. The very next morning the spasm was completely gone and so was the pain. I was amazed. I did not even require a follow-up treatment. Anyone who can do that deserves the highest recommendation from me. Thanks Dr. Dave!

Dr Borenstein is an amazing doctor. He is smart, caring, attentive and willing to think outside the box. I have done two stem cell treatments with him and these treatments have substantially improved my quality of life. They allow me to have the energy to be able work at a job I love and also have strengthened my immune system substantially. To put it in perspective, prior to starting stem cell therapy, I would miss approximately 40-50 days of work a year because of sickness. Over the last four months, I did not take one sick day!Although all of my symptoms are not resolved yet, things are so much better and I consider the stem cells to be a complete miracle. I know Dr. Borenstein is willing to keep trying with me and I feel less alone knowing someone else is thinking about my case. His kindness and bedside manner make me feel comfortable and cared for. I highly recommend Dr. Borenstein for anyone, but especially if you feel like you don’t know where to turn.

Came to see Dr. Borenstein for stem cell treatment. I was having extreme back pain and could barely function. After the first treatment, I saw marked improvement and could actually get around to doing physical therapy. I continued the treatment and was able to function normally in life and with the combined help of doing physical therapy I am almost back to 100% normal. Would most definitely recommend seeing him for any type of pain you might have.

Dr Borenstein has turned my health around! I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 2 years ago and nothing the previous doctors prescribed was working for me. My first visit with Dr Borenstein was an eye opener...he asked me what my symptoms were and actually listened as I explained. This initial interview was very in depth as were the tests and labs he ordered for me...he was determined to find out exactly what was wrong with me and how to get me healthy again. I just had my 6 week check up and I am feeling better now than I have for 2 years! I am a patient for life...thank you!

I highly recommend Manhattan Integrative Medicine. Dr. Borenstein was able to accomplish what no other doctor could do in three years, make me feel better. In fact, it is only through Dr. Borenstein that I can enjoy my life again. He listens to how you feel and really cares. His priority is making you better. I have yet to find another doctor like Dr. Borenstein. His entire office is caring and understanding that you do not feel well. They always treat you with respect and are very accommodating. I have never recommended a doctor but felt compelled to give Dr. Borenstein the recognition he deserves.

Barely gave us twenty minutes for first appointment. Constantly checking his cell phone and answering text messages during the appt. got the feeling that this doctor picked integrative medicine for the cash and not because he cares about the patient. The appt was for my daughter and he interrupted her while she was describing her symptoms... very know it all attitude and if youre looking for an integrative medicine doctor that will tailor a plan specifically for you hes not the doc to go to.

Avoid Dr. Borenstein at all costs!!!! He is very inexperienced and does not have the clients best interests at heart. All he cares about is your money. I went to him several years ago for prolotherapy treatments and this has caused me permanent damage. If you are looking for regenerative injections for damaged ligaments, tendons, or torn cartilage, find SOMEONE ELSE!!! Do your research before seeking treatment for David Borenstein.

I’ve had pain on my neck and shoulders for twenty years and i was suffering from limited mobility of my arms. This was causing me a terrible problem in my job. Dr Borenstein did a thorough examination, asked a lot of question, and treated my neck and shoulder region with Prolotheraphy, precisely placed injections. I started receiving relief from pain almost immediately. Over the next three days more improvement occured. This is the first time in many years of receiving treatment from other doctors that I have received this degree of pain relief. I would highly recommend Dr Borenstein.

I saw Dr. Borenstein several years ago, but was very unhappy about the treatment I received. I am hypothyroid and he put me on what turned out to be a DANGEROUSLY high dose of T3. I gather that he suggests T3 for all thyroid patients. He also did some crazy tests and I never got the results. I think he is a dangerous person, and a parasite taking advantage of people w/ serious illnesses. He seems to be involved in any disease, like CFS, that becomes popular. And by the way, he holds himself out as an endocrinologist to patients, but his background and training is in physical therapy. Beware.

I went to Dr. Borenstein for a stem cell transplant. I have Crohns disease and have been struggling to find a treatment that wasnt filled with side effects. Within two weeks of the treatment, I had gained weight, was eating better and felt all around better. Dr. Borenstein was great, he called many times to follow up and see how I was doing. He seemed genuinely concerned about my health and well being and wanted to see good results. I am so happy that I found him online and would recommend him to anyone who asked!

TL;DR - he diagnosed what other traditional doctors overlooked, but he is expensive, especially for the short amount of time he spends with me each appointment.Long Read:I’ve been seeing Dr Borenstein since 2015. After seeing multiple doctors who kept telling me that my blood work was fine, despite the fact that I felt horrendous and could barely function day to day. I took that same blood paperwork to Dr Borenstein and he immediately saw the issue. Traditional doctors don’t understand the nuances of Hashimoto Autoimmune Disease. The recommended medications and supplements had me feeling well again within a week, and after a few months, I was back to my normal self. For this, I thank Dr Borenstein greatly. He requests that I return every four months, with new blood work each time, and these appointments are no more than 15 mins. These appointments are expensive, for what they are.

I am writing about the most positive experience I have ever had with a doctor.Six months ago I came to see Dr. David Borenstein feeling extremely tired, had hair loss and extremely cold hands, etc. After listening to all my symptoms and giving me lab tests that were very thorough, he diagnosed me with Hashimotos Disease, adrenal fatigue and hormone problems. He prescribed medication for my thyroid condition, a supplement and lots of rest for the adrenal fatigue and Biest hormones. He also gave me diet and life-style changes that were extremely helpful. Within six months I felt better than I felt in ten years and my hair started to grow back. Also, I found him to be a very good listener. He gave me a lot of time each visit.I highly recommend Dr. Borenstein.Lisa Hammel

Dr. Borenstein gives functional medicine a bad name -- DO NOT trust this guy. As the other reviews state, he does not have compassion for his patients and this is a business. When I was on synthroid with my endocrinologist my TSH was at a 6, he switched me to naturethyroid and T3 at the wrong dosage and my TSH shot up to 13. At the follow up appt he doubled my dosage and within three weeks my TSH came crashing down to a .5 (yes .5, throwing me into hyperthyroidism). I was not due back to him for another four weeks. Thank goodness I went back to my endocrinologist who took me off his protocol because I was feeling so awful given the huge swing. His medicine protocol is not wrong but he did it an irresponsible way. I paid $1400 in appt fees with him just to feel worse. On top of it he pushes all his supplements on his poor patients that will pay anything to feel better. Those supplements were an extra $136 on top of his $295 15 minute visits. There are a lot better functional medicine doctors out there, do NOT trust this guy. He tried to blame my high TSH level of 13 on the fact that I was in Portugal and ate a lot of seafood. I told him I had my blood work done before vacation. A few minutes later I asked how strict was the rule to wait one hour before eating after I take my medicine because on vacation I didnt always do that because of my schedule. He exclaimed that is why your labs are so high. I said NO, again I had my labs done before Portugal in which I was strict about not eating food until an after hour my medication. He was just trying to cover himself for sending me in such a tailspin. This guy is truly the worst, do not waste your money to feel even worse.

I am a 49 year old male who was diagnosed two years ago with osteoarthritis in both hips. The recommendation was that I get a hip replacement on both hips, but was also cautioned that due to my age, I would likely have to repeat the process in 10 years time. That was not an option for me so I opted to manage the situation as best I could. In December 2016 my hips started hurting me more and I knew that I had to address my situation. After extensive searching, I found Dr Borenstein and contacted him via his website. I was pleasantly surprised to get a call from him that same evening, during which we discussed my treatment options and made arrangements for him to review my records. After reviewing my xrays and report, he advised me that stem cell therapy was a viable option for me, and invited me to make an appointment for treatment. When I arrived for my treatment I was greeted by Dr Borenstein, who seemed very affable. After completing my sign in forms we went through the consultation, during which I was advised of the potential risks and benefits of the procedure, what to expect of the treatment and my recovery phase, and discussed any other issues that might be affecting me as a result of my condition. I was quite surprised when, on hearing that I had back issues, he requested my MRI and indicated that he would treat that too!The procedure itself was quite straighforward. Liposuction from the right buttocks, an hour long stroll around Lincoln Centre while the stem cells were separated, the extraction of blood, plasma separation, locating the injection sites and the injection of the stem cells and plasma all took 3 1/2 hrs, including my back.Did it hurt? Yes! Probably a 5 on the childbirth scale and a solid 10 on the man flu scale. But after the lidocaine injection into the hip after the stem cells, the pain that I had lived with for years was gone! My range of motion was 100% better immediately after the procedure and has remiained that way for two weeks so far.Dr Borenstein has checked up on me at least every other day since the procedure and continues to be pleased with my progress. I have recommended him to at least 6 people so far and would encourage others to check with him before making a decision that you may regret for the rest of your life. With physiotherapy, my prognosis for getting back to running is looking good. I am extremely grateful to Dr Borenstein and his staff, Karen and Lisa, for giving me the chance to reclaim my quality of life. Talk to him before you make that final decision. You will not regret it.

I remember sitting across from Dr. Borenstein as he reviewed my extensive blood test results and he began telling me what I needed to do to start feeling better. I had been to so many doctors and not one of them did bloodwork as extensive as Dr. Borenstein did. Not one of them checked my Vitamin levels. Not one of them sat down with me and help me put the pieces of the puzzle together. Not one of them (and there were so many) ever made the daily pain, migraines or fatigue I struggled with ever go away. That is until I sat across the desk from Dr. David Borenstein. It didnt even take long .I began taking the medication and the supplements he told me to take and with a few adjustments I started to gradually feel better. All of a sudden I realized I wasnt resting after every small task I did, or I wasnt even taking a nap during the day. The pain I felt for so much of my life was slowly subsiding and I didnt jump when someone touched me!! It was really an amazing change for me!! It may sound silly to some but I felt like I was given my life back.Dr. Borenstein gave me my life back. Hes very kind and understanding but also very thorough. Hes worth every penny I spend to see him because without him I would still be struggling through the pain and horrible fatigue every day.

A few of years back, I fell and had a torn meniscus on both knees. As time went by, arthritis took over and changed my life dramatically. I live in upstate New York were the cold weather can be an enemy for people with arthritis. During this time, I saw four (4) different specialists who could not do anything but give me cortisone and gel shots which only lasted a few months and provided “minimal” relief. I walked around holding on to the walls feeling as if my knees were going to crumble at any moment. The last specialist wanted to do a partial knee replacement for each knee, which I couldn’t understand as I am only in my mid-40’s! In search of different alternatives, I did a lot of research into the Stem Cell treatment and decided to meet with Dr. Borenstein. He answered my every question, phone call and email with amazing knowledge, professionalism, sympathy and understanding.I was very skeptical at first but felt I needed to exhaust every other avenue before going ahead with such a dramatic and permanent solution as partial knee replacement surgery. I scheduled and received the stem cell treatment November 2016 and the recuperation has been mind-blowing in an awesome and very positive way. Just six days after treatment, I was able to stretch my knees in bed! I cannot even tell you when was the last time I was able to do that without feeling that knees would crack. Little by little, I started feeling better each day. I was no longer doing the “penguin” walk (especially when getting out of bed). Cold days were more manageable and not as painful as they once were. Day 10th was amazing to me; I was super busy at work and took the stairs, walking down one leg in front of the other (a thought that no longer existed on my mind, as my knees was totally unable to do it) and when I realized what I was doing, a HUGE smile of happiness took over! Since then, everyday has been better and better! Dr. Borenstein has been there for me every step of the way, answering my every concern, cheering me up and giving me the life back that I so desperately needed. I cannot believe that the FDA will approve the knee replacement surgery, where they will actually CUT your own bones (which is irreversible), but they won’t approve a stem cell treatment that comes from ones own body! When I go to Physical Therapy (to strengthen my muscles) and I see people there screaming of pain from their knee surgeries; my heart breaks for them. I thank God every day for crossing my path with Dr. Borenstein before it was too late!If you have been told you need surgery, do yourself a HUGE favor and contact Dr. Borenstein first. I pray that he can help your situation as he helped mine. I went on vacation this past Christmas and was able to dance…Dance!! (an activity that my mind had deleted completely) before my stem cell treatment! I will be forever grateful to Dr. David Borenstein for his extensive knowledge, understanding and for restoring and giving me back MY OWN KNEES!!!

I went to Dr. Borenstein for over a year and just left his practice for a new doctor. I left because I was misdiagnosed as hypothyroid when in fact I have Hashimotos, and I felt disrespected when I asked him questions.I asked twice about the possibility of Hashimotos and he dismissed this idea. Two other doctors have now agreed that indeed it is Hashimotos and Ive changed my protocol to heal that. Dr. B said there was never going to be a way to heal my condition and hat I would be on medication for the rest of my life. I couldnt accept that and kept asking. He got annoyed. When I asked Dr. Borenstein about when I might graduate to twice yearly appointments, he was dismissive of my question and seemed annoyed that I would dare question him.Our appointments were always rushed and I barely spent 20 minutes with him. He had no suggestions on how to deal with my persistent anemia, while my new doctors addressed my concerns immediately with options.I wish I had told him to his face how badly treated I felt, but Im happy now at a new clinic with doctors who respect my questions and offer alternatives.
