Its 12:50 in the afternoon and Im beginning to wonder if Ill even see a doctor today. The waiting room is so full that some people cant even sit down. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour for them to call people back for treatment. With so many people ahead of me in line, I wont be getting treatment any time soon. The only reason I dont give this place a one star rating is because I have yet to receive treatment so I cant rate that side of things, but what good is an EMERGENCY room if I have to wait until next year for help?

Hate the er part for children. They took her to the back will not let me in cause I had a slight fever I had proof that it was just a cold but they didn’t let me in swearing I had Covid but they allowed a parent to go in with her baby who had Covid what racial stuff is that. I’ll give the er a negative 10 and will never take my child to that er again.

The worst!!!!!!! I came for my second vaccine and the young make nurse - whatever he did - is horrible - it hurt soooo much, I screamed. My first vaccine was done nicely - did not feel a thing. Experienced older nurse. But now - I am screaming from pain. His reaction was - every vaccine feels like that...... no it does not. My epidural did not feel like that.Avoid this non hospital!!!!

I give this hospital a 1 star because it’s the lowest allowed but if I could give a 0 or a negative I would. This hospital is the absolutely worse hospital I’ve ever been to, talk about being outdated in every aspect. They don’t follow covid procedures strictly (watched 2 ppl walk by the desk without being checked temperatures for although they were visitors since they walked to the visitor desk and checked in), during the AM homeless people walk right in and sleep in the lobby, security and the lack of does nothing about it, social distancing isn’t respected or enforced, not even by staff and representatives, not to mention they aren’t up to date in medical procedures that involve bloodless surgery because you know.. some people can’t take blood due to religious beliefs, moral views or just can’t take the risks of all the complications associated with blood. But nope if you prefer and express sincerity in a specific alternative, you will be completely rejected and outcasted. They have no respect for your rights, beware.

Stay Far Away! My mom thought she had a stomach virus but she began having stomach pains that were increasing with severity so we had to call 911. Harlem Hospital was the closest so that’s where they took her. The check in was speedy and they immediately took her through triage. My mother’s pain level was so high they had to give her morphine just to examine her. The morphine put her in a sedated state while they ordered some tests. The nurse (She wears the Star Wars clogs) in charge of my mom seemed nice and compassionate at first. As the wait for the testing grew longer the morphine was starting to wear off. When I initially told the nurse the pain was returning she said ok as if she would be in soon. I waited over 15 minutes before I asked her again. She said yes, she knew and she’d be with me shortly. The third time I asked she said the doctor wanted my mom to have the test first and I said I understood that but if the test wasn’t happening soon they couldn’t just leave my mom in pain. She said she would see how many people were ahead but at this point she was speaking with an attitude and was unbothered by my concern for my mom.I waited another 15 minutes before an LPN named Jenny came in to check on us. When I asked her about my mom’s test and her pain meds she stated sympathetically that the head nurse said we weren’t getting any meds. I became very upset and confronted the nurse about what was going to be done for my mom. That’s when she said radiology was ready for her. But clearly they weren’t because my mom was gone a long time and she told me when she came back that they had her waiting in the hallway awhile before they did the cat scan. All without any pain meds. Jenny came in and I told her we needed meds ASAP because at this time my mom is crying and screaming in pain. The doctors came in and said they saw a blockage and she needed surgery. Then the head nurse came and said thats why they needed to wait to give meds, to make sure they weren’t causing more harm. BS, their triage had their share of homeless people and a few DHS agents there to get them out of the ER and into shelters. They probably thought my mom was another addict looking for a warm bed and a hit.The doctor needed to insert a drainage tube down my moms throat into her stomach. The drainage didn’t work and rather than checking it they just left it while they continued to come back and forth to discuss the surgery they were planning in the next 8 hrs. So after nine hours in the ER we get to the surgical floor and the nurse comes and hands me a crumpled sheet of paper to fill out. It’s the surgical floor intake form. All the questions are basics that should have been noted during her ER registration and accompanied her upstairs. But nope, she came up with no records, not even orders to keep her sedated. I told them I needed the social worker as soon as they arrived because we were transferring out. The room had five beds in it and I can only imagine how difficult it must be to recover from anything with the constant interruption of quietness with five people in a room. The staff adamantly tried to dissuade us from leaving but we demanded to be transferred to Weill-Cornell Hospital where her PCP was. We waited all day and kept calling WC to inquire about her transfer and they kept saying it wasn’t approved yet. By 5PM we knew we’d have to get my mom down there on our own so we left AMA. And wouldn’t you know when we got to WC by cab they said Harlem Hospital had my mom’s case as non-emergent and that’s why she wasn’t a priority in insurance paying for a transfer!

Tried to arrive in low-traffic hours, didn’t make a difference.Arrived at 10am, I’m finally seeing a Nurse at 1pm. There were 3 people besides me in the waiting area. Wasn’t a busy morning. They are just mind-numbingly slow. Even getting the sign in form takes 5 minutes per person. The front desk women socialize and go slower than I’ve ever moved in my life when there’s a long line of people waiting just to sign in/register.Just all around not a great emergency room.

Came in today for one thing, and the doctor solved 2 problems for me. Place was clean, nurses and intake were polite. Raunain Rahman MD was the lead, and he seemed very concerned and was very helpful with questions that I had.

The worst I’ve been in the ER for over 5 hours waiting for some flimsy blood test when all i said i needed was a iv due to me being pregnant. I waited in the waiting room for over an hour just trying to get vitals. Simple freaking vitals. I had to wait 30 minutes for a damn doctor. And to top things off she wanna be rude as hell. It’s ridiculous DO NOT COME TO THE ER HERE AT ALL

I came in bleeding from an accident with a knife in which I was missing a small piece of my index finger that needed stitches. Had to stand on line to receive an intake form never got it because I left after standing 15min on a non moving line, caught a cab to my regular Lenox Hill Hospital. Harlem Hospital is really the pits.

My mom came in to the emergency room for an emergency treatment . We arrived at 2pm and by the time she was placed in a room in the emergency room it was 6pm . Afterward we waited hours to see the doctor and when she finally did it was 8pm. Overall a horrible experience and wouldn’t come here again
