Miami transplant institute and Jackson memorial hospital, are the greatest! My 2-year-old son had a very rare tumor that was found in his liver and bile duct, in late March.I met with the transplant team in April, and my son was already having surgery on May 1st! Dr. Tekin my sons surgeon is very honest and does not sugarcoat anything, he will be very straight forward which as a parent that’s what I wanted, honesty! I assure you he is the best of the best, from my personal experience ! Dr. Tekin also treats his patient with so much love, always with a smile on his face!dr.Tekin, and his team, were extremely informative every single step of the way! Always there to answer any concerns! They are with you every step of the way !!! EVERYONE in MTI have been so attentive during this journey.Doctors and nurses are very knowledgeable, and compassionate! .Communication, when I had a question or concern Caroline Almay Smith, the nurse practitioner who was the one I would always reach about any question . was just a call and email away, she was truly an angel because of her I think I had so much peace of Mind! She was truly amazing, very heartwarming, and treated us like family !!Surgery! My son was admitted to the hospital day before surgery, after you get admitted Tekin and his team go see you to answer any questions!Day of surgeryMy sons surgery was 6 hrs long! Nurses in the surgery room were constantly calling me every hour to give me an update on how everything was going ! You can imagine as a parent how anxious you feel, so they made sure to constantly update you!Recovery at the hospital!Jackson memorial hospital PICU, Transplant floor. JMH HAS the best of the best nurses, they treated my son like their own baby, very knowledgeable, and heartwarming. My son Liam was so blessed to have such a great recovery team !!10 days down and my son is doing amazing he isHaving a smooth recovery and is running around already!!My son is finally him self again in such a fast period, I don’t know how to thank Jackson memorial hospital and Miami transplant Insitute!!

I was looking at reviews concerning negative comments about the kidney transplant coordination team most of which were posted over a year ago. Based on my current ongoing experience I would say not much has changed. However, I have been very pleased by the physicians and other medical staff as well as the hospital. Its time to do something about the coordinators.

Diabetes Research Institute & the University of Miami Transplant Institute with healthcare from the staff at Jackson Memorial Hospital saved my life with a kidney transplant for my chronic renal disease & also gave me a donor pancreas for my Type 1 diabetes. I had excellent care and a successful kidney & pancreas double transplant surgery in December 2004. Today, January 2020 I still have perfect glucose readings & have good creatinine levels. I am very happy with my doctors, nursing staff, radiologists, & technicians that helped me during my surgery and recovery. I am very thankful for the extra 15 years of life that I have been living. A wonderful gift of life. Thank you.

Back in 2016 my wife was referred to MTI for a liver transplant, as her liver had been damaged by treatment for NET, a kind of cancer. The doctor insisted on sending her to Minnesota for a new test to detect NET. She was already cold even in Florida weather, but that didnt matter. After consultation with the referring doctor at Moffitt Cancer Center, she was eventually able to have the test done there instead. MTI made her drive 180 miles just to tell her that the test came back positive for active cancer, and that she wasnt a candidate for a transplant. She died in June, 2018. Just to add further insult, I received a bill today, December 14, 2019, for one of her office visits back in January of 2017!! Heartless!

Dr. Burke is the BEST!!! On 6/10/2010, I received my kidney & pancreas transplant. I recently visited him at Jackson and was pleasingly surprised to learn that they had re-vamped the check-in process. Previously the wait time was so consuming, but now the wait time has improved 150%. When I have my labs performed, its better organized. I dont feel like someone is invading my space as opposed to having 10-15 leaning on the wall waiting to be service. I want to say that the stress-free environment is GREAT for not only patients, but the staff and doctors also. It has been 7 years, 4 months and 7 days to date and Im so grateful to GOD, Dr. Burke, and all his staff.

Liver Transplant 1/17/2015 by Dr Nashida & Dr Fan, OUTSTANDING doctors. The nursing staff at the hospital were AWESOME. Theres no doubt that the Transplant center needs improvement, I think they might be getting the idea now. They got rid of the girl who answered the phone as if you were calling a Teen Hotline for Gossip. .now messages actually get delivered oh and the phone gets answered. It was seriously a joke, I was just there and rather impressed how much smoother things are. People you have to understand its a clinic these doctors are SLAMMED. So far it seems Ive got a good coordinator. Im thankful to them Miami Transplant Institute for saving my life

After denying me the opportunity to donate part of the live my daughter needed, the quacks on the transplant team proceeded you destroy my daughters life with an incompatible liver transplant. The Hindenburg of Pediatric Transplants resulted in cardiac arrest, collapsed lung, her intestine ripped open, and worse. They didnt want to admit I was the dad because they were too busy settling the medical malpractice with the mom. They then covered this up and denied me psychological counseling while embarking on a legal effort to railroad me via the police and state attorney. They aided the Mothers attempt to terminate my parental rights so I would not have standing to challenge the aggravated child neglect for profit- an effort that has so far failed. Google Justice For Alexya and find out what these people are about before you entrust your childs life to them.
