My father was taken to the Citadel after leaving the hospital in a severely weakened state from meningitis. No one contacted us for plan of treatment to regain strength. He was supposed to receive multiple types of therapy, but not sure if any was given beyond helping him to the bathroom. There is no communication at all, you are left guessing. Case worker doesn’t answer her phone and refuses to return calls. Find any other place than this one!

I had to be there 3 separate times for rehabilitation and all 3 stays were horrible. The last stay there I was recovering from a broken hip. I was in the hospital for a month and then transfered there. The first day and night that I was there I received none of my medications and could not even get the nurse to my room.. I asked for the nurse 4 times. The food was horrible and you got very little of it.

I left there with 2 big bed sores on my rear. The pain meds ,I had to beg for the first week. There were several great nurses, but most were just barely doing their job. Will go anywhere else next time

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!! This horrific place needs to be shut down by the state! They didnt even feed my mom half the time. They use covid-19 excuses not to allow anyone in there, so you have no idea what they are doing to the sick an elderly patients who cant care for themselves. They run the facility with no licenced nurses on duty, and when you would call, the same people keep giving you different names of who they are. They tried to steal $45 out of my mothers purse. When they were confronted about this, they denied it. When I threatened to call the police, all the sudden the money just showed up again. They lose track of the patients and do not even know where they were taken by their own transport on hospital appointments. The caseworkers at this terrible nursing home, act like you are bothering them, just by trying to get any information. They are rude, unprofessional, and have negative careless attitudes. It is obvious that this tone is set from the upper management that runs this facility out of California. No one cares, no ones in charge and youre just a number to them.DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY, YOU WILL BE VERY VERY SORRY YOU DID!

As the Move-In Coordinator for The Citadel I have the pleasure of assisting new residents with their transition to our community. As we all know any move can be somewhat trying both emotionally and physically. In all my years of employment, I have never worked in a more emotionally supportive atmosphere. Our staff together strives to create a warm and inviting environment to our residents. The happiness and well-being of our residents, is our first priority. Being part of the Citadel team is not only my career, but my pleasure, each and every day.

I don’t even know where to start. This place seemed amazing when we toured it, but after our loved one being in here for a couple of months, we have nothing good to say. We have been trying to schedule a meeting with Kathryn, to discuss our concerns, and she will not make time for us. Today was the breaking point, one of the women there (Conchita) yelled at my grandmother, because she said her coffee was cold and she did not get everything she ordered for breakfast. Conchita then proceeded to heat her coffee too hot for her drink. The physical therapy here is a joke, they had my grandma walk across the room and back, checked her blood pressure, and that was it. My grandmother is visually impaired, and they keep trying to get her to sign documents she can’t see. We are paying extra for them to escort her to their events, and they don’t bother telling her there is even events going on. We bought her a taking clock, because one nurse told her it was 8:30, when it was actually 9:30 (they were 1.5 hours late bringing her meds, and didn’t want her to know). When you are paying over $3,000 a month for care, you expect much higher quality than is being provided in this place. I would NOT recommend bringing a loved one to this facility.

I have been to numerous assisted living communities with my family members recently. I can say that the Citadel was the most welcoming and friendly experience weve had from the moment we walked in we were treated like family. The community was very well kept the staff was great and it was very reasonably priced. The woman who gave us our tour went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable we had no pressure to sign up no rushing through to get to the next tour. She sat with us for almost 2 hours answering all of our questions and concerns from medical to the upcoming weeks menu.I highly recommend the Citadel to anyone who is looking for not just an assisted living for a family member but a place that makes you feel like one .

The Citadel is a first class retirement community by any standard. They have apartments for independent living or the option of assisted living for those that need a little more help. The facility is beautiful and maintained to spotless perfection. I have noticed a cheerful sense of community from both, the staff and the residents. I would not hesitate to place a family member at The Citadel.

I am honor to be part the staff at The Citadel Senior Living Community for 12.5 years. Some of our staff have been working at The Citadel since the doors first opened. The staff of the Citadel goes above and beyond to help each other and our residents in whatever the task may be.We are one big family caring for each other. The best part of the Citadel is we are a continuing care campus, we means we offer independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing . Independence when you want it, assistance when you need it.

I been part of the Citadel Retirement Community for many years. The Community is centrally located in East Mesa and is warm, clean and welcoming, it displays the feeling of home. Whether visiting in the apartment or in the common areas those feelings of warmth and home are always present. The staff is more like extended family always offering support and available to help the residents maintain the feeling of home.

Care my mother received was adequate. Service personnel were pleasant, caring, and responsive. Management would not refund payment for unutilized services after my mother passed away. Make certain that you are aware of this policy prior to placing any loved one in this facility.

My mother has lived at the Citadel now for almost 10 years. She is 94 now and absolutely thriving there. The general manager, office manager, activities director and the rest of the staff are the absolute best. She had some medical issues a few years ago and the doctor told her she probably couldnt go back to the Citadel. Well that was it for mom, she fought hard to get well so she could return to her home, friends and family at the Citadel. She didnt want to go anywhere else. We highly recommend this facility.

This is a physical therapy rehabilitation/ long term care facility. For the most part they are ok . The physical therapy part is astounding my Fiancee was able to walk out of there. However the nursing part needs major work . It took almost a day for them to get her right medication and when they finally did the ended up running out of some of her meds she was lucky that she had me to stay on top of things, I wonder about the ones who have no one to be in their corner how do they fair .

The Citadel has a great staff that is friendly and attentive. You can tell that they care deeply about all the residents. They have a variety of activities for residents so they can find various activities to participate in. There is even an in-house country store that the residents run themselves, a library where they can check out books, a billiards room, several other t.v. and sitting rooms to socialize and/or for special occasions or when more family comes to town to visit all at once or for residents to socialize together. Another great thing at the Citadel is the private dining room residents can reserve for special occasions and private parties. The Citadel has a warm, inviting, and comfortable atmosphere. It doesnt feel like a sterile hospital environment at all. It feels like Grandmamas classy home.

My wife recently passed away in late February. The care givers were like her sisters. They loved and cared for her and she loved them. She was in assisted living at the Citadel for 8 years due to Huntingtons Disease. For many years she was able to walk and help others less fortunate but as time went on she gradually lost almost all coordination and even the ability to swallow. The care givers hand fed her and did all they could and I cant begin to tell you how grateful I am that they were there for her. I loved her and miss her greatly. You wont make a mistake using this facility. w. schneider

I have a loved one who sadly has been placed in the citadel three times over the past six months. The first stay during recovery went well only because he compared the citadel to where he had been placed prior which was the promise. He was so neglected at the promise he attempted suicide. Death was better than remaining there. So in comparison, the citadel was pretty good. Second stay, obviously recovery had not happened for him, they staff somehow overdosed him on his antibiotic to the point he was poisensd. No one noticed, did anyone ever look, ever check. I dont know. I walked in to a frightening scene and instantly knew he was in trouble, and Im no nurse. In response to this error they blamed the overdose on him, tested him for street drugs assuming someone was sneaking illegal drugs into him, took him off his pain meds.to suffer. Their tests came back negative and proved it was their doing, no one elses. Now hes back. Same deal. Different week. Already you can not get a call through because no one can be bothered to answer the phone. I hope this time is the last time. I have so much distaste for this half added organization I couldnt say anything nice about the facilitu if my life depended on it. Thank goodness it doesnt.*UPDATE. the brilliance if the powers that be for some unexplained reason took it upon themselves to cancel my friends antibiotic. He went 4 days without the antibiotic he was supposed to receive. This after six months if being on the wrong antibiotic that did no good in fighting his infection. Six months and nobody checked if the meds. were doing the job. Holy Cow. Tonight I have called three times and let the phone ring and ring, no one could be bothered to answer. I have never seen such a thing it blows my mind how they get away with this stuff.* UPDATE. The friend of mine in the citadel had gone 4 days without a diaper change, I had to do it for him. As I said 3 weeks ago his Incistion from his back surgery was infected and left to turn gangrene as was his ulcer on his heel no one noticed but meBy the time I saw it (while changing his rancid disper)it was the size of the bottom of a jelly jar. For 3 weeks I have been telling him he needed to be back.in the hospital, finally a few days ago he was sent back. The surgeon removed a huge amount of gangrene from his low back and heel. Because of the lack of treatment. Lack of cleanliness. And lack of giving a hoot I dont believe he will ever walk againHe is only 52. The hypocractic oath states do no harm. He has been harmed. More than harmed. Im glad he lived through it. He will never be place there again. He was nauseas from his medication and given anti nausa pills. He asked for a second one one day, hours after the first and wad told no. He threw up all over his bed and himself. His bed was not cleaned up untill 4 pm. He was made to sit in a wheel chair waiting for hours. Prior to that I had come to visit and Hollis bed wad gross. I asked when last it was changed. He had been there over a week and said it had never been changed so farWhen.his bed finally was changed, there was so much blood and drainage fluid on the sheet they couldnt pull the sheets apart. This has been the most awful thing I have ever seen someone I know go through
