The worst Hospital! As far as Im concerned it was Attempted Murder of my son. He walked in the ER for medical treatment. A healthy 28yr old man with a simple fixable condition. 14 days they starved him. He was in vegetated state. If i didnt demand feeding tube and bouls feeds. He would be dead. Shame on them!

Nurses are great but the food is worse than any other hospital Ive ever been in. Portion sizes were way too small for a new mother that was breastfeeding, wrong items on the plate from what was ordered, bland tasting is expected but some of it was flat out revolting like the pancakes. Definitely try to get them to cancel any meals and just order delivery if you can. Probably cost you less when the bill finally comes in.

The staff in the ICU were incredible, especially Dani (RN). My father suffered a stroke and was on life support for 5 days before passing - but Dani who was assigned to my father took such great care for him. Our family was very fortunate to have Dani as the RN taking care of my father until his last breath.

I was notified that my dad was about to pass away in the hospital and to come right away so I could be with him in his last moments. The “security guard” Nikita was the most rude and non compassionate person I’ve met in health care. Knowing my family’s situation, she was still so rude and inappropriate. Talking down to us and getting a major attitude just because one of us set the metal detector off which seems to happen often so I don’t get why it was such a big deal to her. She should really get a new job… maybe at a pet store as some newspaper or something. I informed her that she was being very rude and unprofessional towards my family on one of the worst days of my life. We just lost out father. No apology no anything from Nikita. Just orders and “I didn’t tell you to walk through yet and you sure did didn’t you?” I mean, come on. You don’t belong in a hospital setting. Go find another 10 dollar an hour job where you can have your little attitude. I then came back down to exit the hospital and Nikita was not even doing her job. She was busy chatting and gossiping with another employee up front about how their boyfriends were going to bring them Starbucks. I really don’t think people like this should be working here, it made my terrible experience even worse and I’ll never forget how Nikita treated me and my family in one of our darkest times. I would really like to talk to someone about her behavior. Really unacceptable Nikita.

My husband had major heart surgery and though he has been out of surgery for 4 hours and the doctor said he is fine and everything went great, Ive yet to see him or talk to him. I was told they were holding him in anesthesia recovery until a room is ready. That was 3 hours ago. His room has been ready for an hour. Ive been waiting in it. I asked and they know his room is ready, they know he is ready to come out of anesthesia recovery but they have no idea how long itll be before he is here. 4 hours after surgery and I cant see him or talk to him? This doesnt happen at Viera hospital or Cape Canaveral. I wont ever willingly come back here.

I was in a car accident and slammed my head against the drivers side window. The paramedics suggested that I go to an emergency room to get checked out for a possible concussion. A friend of mine told me to go to First Health on Hickory Street in Melbourne which I did. I waited in the emergency room waiting area for 2 hours before anyone took my vitals and what I was there for. Meanwhile there was a man who had been there for 3 hours waiting to be seen because his primary care doctor said he had a blood clot in his leg and to go to the emergency room right away to be checked out. He was begging the triage nurse to be seen and he was told he just had to wait. I waited another 30 minutes and decided to just leave and take my chances that even though my head and neck hurt I wasn’t going to sit there any longer. Maybe I’m spoiled with the way hospital emergency rooms are run where I come from originally, but they admit you right away and check your vitals to see if you are in a medical emergency situation, a nurse evaluates you and may order an X-ray and then you get to see a doctor fairly shortly. I guess First Health will see you right away if you’re bleeding profusely or brought in unconscious on a stretcher. I will never go to this facility ever again!

Absolute worst ER. Nurses are rude and whole setup is disorganized. Went to ER in July and they had me sharing a room with a COVID patient. Nurses were extremely rude while I was there. My father was recently in the ER, who has dementia. First set of nurses allowed my mother to be there with him and advocate for him, since he cannot speak for himself. Next shift change came in and they made her wait in the parking lot, knowing that he could panic and have a heart complication because of this. I called to try and explain this and the nurse I spoke with rudely refused to let me speak with the lead nurse, and also refused to give me her name.As soon as my mother asked to check him out so she could take him to a better hospital, they were magically able to bring her to be with my dad.So we will be taking him to Advent Health in Orlando, where they actually care about their patients’ well being. It’s a shame that I have to drive an hour (Orlando) to get proper emergency services, but it is necessary since Holmes Regional employees seem to not care about their patients’ needs like they should.

Worst place as far as theft/trust is concerned. It is my opinion that care at this hospital was marginal with the exception of the nurses who were awesome, but thats about as far as I would go. As for the facts, I was visiting Florida when I had a need to go to the emergency room which resulted in a 4 day hospital stay. Someone on their staff went through my personal belongings when I was sent for a CT scan and stole over $400 from my wallet. That person started rummaging through my credit cards, but appears to have been interrupted since everything was thrown together in a hurry and stuffed in the wrong pocket. The hospital refuses to accept responsibility for the theft, but instead insists my wallet was not in their possession so its my fault. It is a fact that there is at least one thief on their staff. This has likely happened before and will likely happen again. Also, since I was visiting Florida, the hospital wanted a local address. I gave them my friends address as well as my home address in Georgia. Their billing department screwed up my benefits claims which took me over 2 months to straighten out then they sent all of my bills to my friends house instead of my home address. I called and updated my address in their system, but they sent the unpaid bill to a collections agency. I called the hospital to straighten this out, but they wanted me to pay over the phone without any proof of payment. I feel victimized by this hospital over the whole ordeal. The hospitals basic response appears to be well, you still owe us money. If I moved to Florida, I would never use this hospital. Not sure if this is being posted twice, but this popped up after I hit the Post button so sorry if this is duplicated.

The nurses just blame the last one for why something didnt get done or why medicine wasnt given at the right time. I feel like they are purposely making it to where we have to stay here longer and its absolutely ridiculous. I took my daughter there for RSV and I was a little discouraged from the tent outside of treating covid and the children’s waiting room had empty food wrappers empty bottles of drinks and masks laying around. During her first triage I felt how busy they were but I have to say that nurse should have been more thorough she checked my daughters vitals and her heart rate was 155 oxygen level 89% breathing at 60 breathes a minute she should have paid more attention to my daughter, she was in and out of the room never truly assessed her! The pulse oximeter beeped at 98 oxygen level and 75 heart rate and the nurse said she’s good her oxygen is 98% like no it was sitting at 90% and heart rate 155 for 30 seconds and changed one second that was not her heart rate or oxygen level. Triaging is to recognize patients who need to be seen right away and that was not done efficiently in my opinion. When we got to the the back she was put on oxygen and vital monitoring she was in severe respiratory distress at that time ! I will say once we stepped foot through the peds doors I give this place 5 stars amazing nurses made my daughter feel safe, special and comfortable and I felt like we made the right choice coming to this hospital! This hospital DOES NOT require its healthcare workers to be vaccinated against covid!!! They dont disclose it to you at all unless you ask your nurses and whoever is taking care of you. Some of their workers are vaccinated but a lot arent. Meanwhile they are having a massive covid outbreak right now and dealing with a ton of covid patients and their OWN STAFF is probably spreading it because they didnt even get vaccinated!!! So much for healthcare. if I had gotten covid I would have definitely sued them. I would recommend going to a different provider for your safety.UPDATE: I will consider updating my review if this hospital decides to follow health guidelines, which recommend healthcare workers be vaccinated to prevent the spread of disease. So far, they are still letting unvaccinated workers work on vulnerable patients, amid a huge surge of covid in Brevard. it raises the question of how good the rest of their healthcare services are if they dont even take basic precautions.

My 65 year old brother, who had been in excellent health, was admitted to Holmes on April 18th. They did not treat him aggressively, so he was transferred to IMC on April 21st with blood clots in his lungs. He died there on May 25th. He had one complication after another, including the collapse of both lungs, a clot in his leg, and a 50 pound weight loss! I begged them to give him extra nutrition either by IV or feeding tube, and they ignored me. He had so much anxiety, he had difficulty breathing the entire time, and again, I had to beg they give him something for it. I also asked if he could have a psychology eval to deal with his fears, but I was told they don’t do that in IMC. When he took a drastic turn for the worst, they told us a ventilator wouldn’t help at that point, so he passed away. I am angry, and I want answers about why their treatment was reactive and not proactive. I doubt I will ever learn the truth. If someone you love gets Covid, do NOT take them to Holmes, since they do not know what they are doing. If I can spare another family our pain and anguish, then I will be happy I could help them. He didn’t deserve to die.In follow-up, I have been contacted by Health First, and they are sending my concerns and questions to their Grievance Committee for a review of his medical records. I appreciate their quick response to my complaints, and even though I may never find the answers of resolution I need, I am appreciative they are looking into it for me.One more follow-up comment: I was contacted by the IMC Nurse Manager about my complaints and concerns. Although he could not have been nicer or more caring, unfortunately I didnt get the answers I was looking for about why my brother passed away under their care. The only positive outcome is that he promised they would do better in terms with communicating with all family members, and including them in updates, not just the one designated person. I still believe they were negligent in not treating him aggressively enough or not giving us other options that might have saved his life. My opinion about that hasnt changed.

While in my room; the first nurse informed me she was unable to locate the heartbeat. Second nurse came 1 hour later and informed me of the same. Both indicated they weren’t confident using Doppler and would get Ultrasound tech for further eval. 4 hours later and I’m sure waiting for an ultrasound. The ultrasound machine was brought to my door. The head nurse informed me she would conduct the eval and tell me results right then and there. 2 more hours went by and still no ultrasound eval. Someone ended up moving the ultrasound machine from my door.My husband - getting slightly impatience for obvious reasons went to ask front desk if we were able to get an update on the ultrasound eval because we were considering just going to my regular Obgyn instead. Only when I called Administration twice & twice asked for patient advocate/ombudsmen in a 3.5 hr period & threatened to walk out AMA, was I taken seriously. Medications & treatments necessary for a complicated genetic disorder were not given. Therefore I was getting sicker, again. Which Id happily do @ home rather than hospital. I was in shock when multiple staff members including physicians admitted to the errors. Ageism discrimination is at an alarmingly high rate & is worsening. Myself included knows of no one over the geriatric age of 55yrs has absolutely NOTHING GOOD to say about the HOSPITALIST programmes. In hospitals from FL to NY, Calif., Hawaii & everywhere in between. It was started by administrators whom only care about the bottom $$, not staff, patients or families. If more people would put their humbling, pain & disgusting experiences in writing such as this, hospitalist may go by the wayside. SOON. HRMC was less discriminatory than CCH was on 2 previous admissions, the last admission I acquired pneumonia & was discharged with it & Dr. failed to provide promised written scripts, therefore 3 days @ home with worsening pneumonia & no trust in hospital @ all. An incentive spirometer & few other non- medicine related treatments most likely wouldve kept pneumonia easily away. Care keeps going down. I was admitted into the emergency room on a Tuesday afternoon with a diagnosis of left side kidney stones. The ER gave me 4 mgs. of morphine. I was admitted and given a CT scan. They kidney stones were verified, but there was a shadow that showed up on my gall bladder. But everyone was extremely concerned as my Troponin levels were off the charts. I would assume that after 4 mgs of morphine, being seriously dehydrated, having thrown up a few times, and pain with no sleep, the hospital staff would have realized that perhaps all of these things added together would give me a high troponin level.I had the stones removed, but they left a right side Staghorn in my right kidney as it was out of the surgeons level of care.I was then sent in for a test for the gall bladder where they found my gall bladder had fused together with my lower intestine. (NOTE: I had an Ileostomy on May 5, 2020).The surgeon would try to do the surgery laporoscipaly, but was unable to due to the fusion and had to surgecially remove the gall bladder. The pain was more than I could bear and the surgical team did a fantastic job of making me as comfortable as possible.Unfortunately, various doctors begin seeing you. One cut off all pain medications completely. When I saw my surgeon, I complained of this and luckily, he got me back on pain medications so I could function.I had some awesome nurses who did well with my care,. Thank you to Kudos to nurses, cnas - Allen, Jack, Justin, Kathleen, Patsy, Vanessa, Dr. Lierbman and his team, Dr. Pesa and his team, and Dr. Puma.As for the two worst CNA/Nurse: Courtney and Kayla. I had really poor nurses who took the attitude that I was just a pain medication addict.I did ask a Kalya, the CNA, to help me empty my ileostomy bag one night. She just gave me a plastic cup. I was left there from 12:43 a.m. until 1:22 a.m., holding my feces in a plastic cup, not even moving for fear of it tipping out of my hands.Unfortunately, my ilestomy bag leaked and I had feces on my gown, near my new surgical site, on my sheets. I realized I did not have all the correct supplies. At 3:15 a.m., the nurse came in and held two ostomy bags up and said which one do you want? I asked to see them and she said, you have to choose one, I cant let you see them. I then asked for a little help to clean up and she said your charts say you know what to do. and you change yourself. It took me 45 minutes to lay in bed, clean up, try to get a bag that did not fit onto my ilesotomy, rip the dirty blankets from my bed and my nightgown off of myself. Was I in pain? YES! Was the nurse there to ease my pain? NO! I cried myself to sleep. Did I get the water I needed to rehydrate? NO! Did someone check up on me? No, not until 6:30 a.m.They kept sending in different doctors regarding my pain and my surgery. Some were not well informed at all!Dr. Raja was the doctor who discharged me. I guess she figured that having had the surgery I just had was simple and clear. No pain meds only an antibiotic. I even asked about little marks on my skin that were bleeding. I assume this wasnt important either. My discharge papers clearly state that I was to receive 5 mg of Oxycodone until 3/18/21. When I got home, there was no prescription. I made a call to the nurse who checked into this. She seemed a bit confused as well. Also, I still had the IV filter attached to my left arm! The car driver saw it, my son saw it, When I got home, we called Fire Rescue who saw it and removed it.I do have photos. Holmes Regional needs to be held responsible for the humility, anger, frustration, accusations and tears I experienced.Thank you for making what should have been an easy transition frustrating, humiliating and difficult.

Went for COVID test when feeling sick - seen by a nurse, one quick chest xray. 2 seconds one nasal swab and then sent home, no result, told to wait . Then get bill for nearly $2000 out of pocket, and thats WITH Health First Insurance. My lab fee alone was $1384 - this is the COVID test. What COVID test is $1384 after insurance???? This is criminal. I am local physician in town, and I will never go here again. Ever. I will be filing massive complaints with insurance regulation, until this is resolved. In the mean time - no thanks Health First. Total abuse of the billing system, and sadly, so many patients not familiar with CPT codes never know.

I had an Absolutely Terrible experience with the social worker (Donna Gilsenen) in the ER. I was given the phone number to the ER Manger because I wanted to get the number for Donnas supervisor to complain, but the phone number I was given doesnt work - a robot voice tells me there is no operator then disconnects.Next I called Holmes directly and entered the extension for the line to the ER - the phone rang 20-30 times, no one picked up, the ringing finally stoped and line was disconnected.I wont stop making calls until I can report the AWFUL experience with Donna Gilsenen (the Social Worker) to her supervisor.UPDATE: I found the email address to what looks like Holmes Customer Support from one of their replies to another review. I emailed them and asked to have Donna Gilsenens supervisor call me (which he did). I felt listened to, and that is all I wanted. I upgraded my review from one to four stars because Holmes did the right thing after I finally got to them. I left off one star because I can assure you that Donna Gilsenen is absolutely the wrong person for that job, and she should not be employed anywhere near a situation where people need compassion and not a sterile by-the-book clinical response. A cold dead fish would have been more comforting and informative. While I was talking to the very nice charge nurse about what happened the equally nice and compassionate nurses who took care of my family member went out of their way to confirm that they saw what happened, and that my experience with Donna Gilsenen was not unique.

I wish we could individually rate the departments. The heart center is fantastic they helped my family and saved a life I could not thank you all enough!!!10/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐The emergency department is good however you cant ask the staff at the front for someone to leave the patient room if you cant get in contact with that person i am immediate family i should have priority over a friend that is in there. I asked the guard to ask someone to have them leave so I can go in since its only one at that a time sorry I cant I dont have the authority. If you got a call that your family was in the emergency room but you cant see them you would be angry. I get the covid rules however not being able to ask if they can leave is ridiculous. You disgust me

Deja vu as when my daughter was 16 and came in for an issue with her tonsil removal she was weak and sick and forced to sit in the waiting room writhing in agony her throat swelling shut only to have people with less serious issues be seen before her, the staff were more concerned and laughing about the drunk guy who dropped his wallet in the toilet. Fast forward to last night a 5 hour wait and still no help no wheel chair she was given a walker even though she had issues walking and shaking and trembling. She is 33 years old now. This is the worst service and unwilling to help non empathetic establishment still to this day.The other patients were even shocked she still had to wait. Would give this place 0 stars if possible. My wife went to the ER with complaints of chest pains. She is still in the hospital 4 days after the fact. She has been given 3 tests over the course of 4 days. She has been given 0 answers or advice. Only one doctor is apparently capable of reading her test, and who knows when they will get around to it. It seems every doctor that comes in has a different idea of what’s going on but nothing ever gets done. They have given her medicine and tests that literally have her in tears. No answers. They are essentially holding her hostage in the hospital and will not discharge her. The medicine she requested for a migraine took over 2 hours to get to her. Anyone with a migraine knows how agonizing those two hours were. She wasn’t even fed for the first 24 hours and when they did feed her they brought just a plate of cold green beans and mashed potatoes. That’s it. This place is an abomination to health care. If you have any other option go there, do not go to this place. The staff is nice but everyone is full of excuses. This place needs someone in charge and a capable leadership group which it is clearly lacking. There is a serious breakdown and lack of communication at this place and that is not good when you are dealing with human beings and their healthcare.Go to any other facility, you will be better off.

My experience at the Holmes regional Hospital Melbourne began when I was delivered by helicopter from my car accident scene on for the turnpike, Immediately upon arrival I was taken care of by the trauma team and put into surgery the orthopedics and the trauma team department literally saved my life they took all my fractured arms and legs and put it all together, Especially my right arm that was chopped off that I thought it was forever gone. Waking up after surgery seeing that you can move the fingers of all your hands and fingers off your feet is such a miracle. Therefore, there’s no Amount of stars on a review to describe My gratitude on saving my life. Now furthermore the rest of the staff was amazing taking care of me throughout my stay specially or exceptionally The CNA Eva on the trauma department on the fourth floor she was not only professional but genuine she was giving care of a mother to a son something that was lacking due to COVID-19 of no visits at the time, from anticipating my needs and realizing things that I need before I even ask for them, Like providing a hot warm shower on the bed while I was helpless I can’t move your arms no legs and change my bed sheets bringing things are closer to me or to my reach, shortly after I got moved to the sixth floor where a gentleman named Paul provided such as amazing care and out of his job descriptions as a registered nurse but he was really caring and genuine I’m very very very appreciative Going above and beyond and helping me with the few things that my visitors have brought and taking shower, I would not wish on anyone to stay at the hospital but if you have to do so.the Holmes regional Hospital in Melbourne is a miracle place

My father had to go to Holmes on Saturday October 24, 2020 due to broken ribs and a difficulty of breathing. Due to his difficulty of breathing they determined that he had to be isolated until he was tested for covid-19, it was 4 1/2 hours after being placed in isolation before getting swabbed for covid-19. After being placed in isolation the care and lack of empathy shown by the nursing staff was terrible. My father is 90 years old and a prostate cancer survivor, when he has the urge to urinate he doesnt have 30 - 45 minutes to wait, according to the nurse he didnt push the button hard enough. The nurse when asked to talk to family member about what was going on with him angrily advised him that she did not have time to talk to anyone because she was getting off shift. I personally went to the triage nurses station and requested to speak to a supervisor and after one and one half hour of waiting left without speaking to anyone.

The nurses at nursing station in ER can be a little more friendly we get it long days/nights but it’s a job they chose to go to school for and yes indeed dealing with a sick patient is not always easy but being polite should always be priority. During a pandemic last thing i need is to be in a hospital unnecessary. But to get discriminated and then discharged while unstable is beyond unbelievable.. I have gone through so much and i dont want to be here. This is not fun for me. I dont want to feel pain. I came as instructed by my surgeon and then to come back within the same hour should really put a prospective here that how severe i am.. As soon as they asked why wasnt the on call surgeon called.. Went to ER with extreme back pain. The PA would not do any tests on me claiming that the hospital has stopped doing this type of diagnostics because some insurance companies won’t pay. Refused to do any thing for me and sent me home while I was drugged up on morphine. Shame on them! They told me to go follow up with a back surgeon! They sent me home while I was on morphine! Then they overbilled me from my emergency room visit above the $80 co-pay I was supposed to pay. Yes, I was driving myself. The next day I couldn’t walk. I had to crawl to and from my car. So I drove to Melbourne regional medical Center. I pulled up to the emergency room and waved for a guard to come out, and when he did, I asked him if he would bring a wheelchair out to me while I parked my car, which he graciously did. They did a CAT scan on me and found out I had a serious injury to my spine. Two months before this episode, I went to Holmes regional for a sprained ankle. My medical insurance was with Health First at this time. My emergency room visits are to be $80. If they did $100,000 worth of tests and diagnostics on me, I would only pay $80.They have been billing me for an ankle boot and crutches above the $80 which they would not remit. What a bunch of scum dogs. After my second episode with my back, I immediately dropped my health first insurance and went to Careplus Insurance and have not looked back yet. It’s so nice to be onto a five star insurance plan instead of a one store plan!I know many nurses that work for Health First and they hate them with a passion.
