Dr. Sand is the most thorough, kind and attentive doctor that I have ever witness work. He explains every detail that you will need to understand the surgery process and what you will need to know so your eyes will heal and function at the highest rate. Dr. Sand called every day to make sure, my nephew and fiancee, who I gifted the surgeries to, were doing well and answered any questions they had about their healing process. My fiancee actually poked her eye on a Sunday while in her healing process and Dr. Sand came in on a Sunday to see her eye, medicate her and coach her through her next steps. My nephew and fiancee now see better then they have every seen in their lives. We are all so grateful for his expertise, care and attentiveness. I have recommended Dr. Sand to other family members and friends and intend to work with him on my eyes as well.

Wow, where do I even begin! My experience with Dr. Sand has been nothing short of absolutely, incredible. My fiancé researched and interviewed 12 other surgeons before he found, and fell in love with Dr. Sand. We knew that we couldn’t afford to take any risks when it came to my eye sight and needed to feel like we weren’t just another number. Dr. Sand ensured me upon first meet that he treats his patients like family, and that he has. The surgery itself was quick and painless (to me at least) and I was given thorough after care instructions. After surgery he called almost daily to check on my progress and ensure there were no developing complications.I received great news that I had healed almost a week ahead of the curve when it came to the progress of my vision! I was so relieved!Even after I had a freak accident and injured my eye about a month later, he answered my call on a Sunday and met me in his office just an hour later! I can honestly say I have never received the care and 5 star treatment I have experienced, and continue to experience, that Dr. Sand provides.I would recommend any family member to Sand Pacific Eye Group, for I have no doubt that they would receive the best, possible treatment out there.I cannot thank them enough for changing my life and blessing me with the gift of sight!

I went to Dr. Sands to treat my very uncomfortable itchy eyes. His careful examination, clear diagnosis, and helpful information put me at ease. The recommended procedure seemed daunting at first but Dr. Sands clear explanation, calm manner, and firm/gentle touch gave me an incredible spa-like experience of thoroughly cleaning the eye area beyond what I ever knew was possible (its two procedures called microblepharoexfoliation and meibomian gland expression). My eyes are SO MUCH MORE comfortable and I now know how to take care of them. Dr. Sands shows so much empathy and professionalism and truly listens to his patients! Thank you Dr. Sands!

Dr. Sand has given me the best care I have ever received from somebody in the medical field. I have been with Dr.Sand for a couple of months now and have had a successful PRK corrective vision surgery with him. I must say my vision has never been this amazing, and Im so thankful for Dr.Sand giving me the vision I didnt even know was possible. Throughout this entire process, he was there to coach me through and help me with every and any concerns I had regarding the procedure. No matter when I contacted Dr.Sand he was always there to pick up the phone and help with what I was going through. As someone who wants to pursue a career in the medical field he has given me great advice regarding that and he also gave me an insight into the kind of Doctor I would like to be. It is rare when you come across someone who goes above and beyond for their profession and it really shows that Dr.Sand loves what hes doing. His love for what he does radiates off of him and it gave me a sense of security I havent gotten from other doctors. I went to see Dr Sand for a lasik consultation. I was very impressed with the extent of Covid protocols used to protect both patients and staff (one patient at a time). During my visit I learned that my eyes were dry and not healthy enough for surgery. I was given an at home treatment plan and got excellent results with a week. I’m on my way to incredible vision two weeks post-surgery.Dr Sand is the kind of doctor you don’t think could possibly exist anymore. He’s kind, intelligent, patient, and attentive. Every person’s situation with vision is different, so what I’m going to tell you may not be your path, but serves to show what a great experience I’ve had with Dr Sand:After 12 years, I finally got sick of wearing contacts. I made appointments at a few different places for LASIK consultations before landing at Sand Pacific Eye Group. At first I was hesitant because the consultation wasn’t free like at other clinics, but it turned out to be worth it! Dr Sand called me himself the same day I scheduled my consultation and I was highly impressed with this level of communication.Dr Sand first determined that I would need to be out of contacts for a month so my eyes could go back to their natural shape, and he could determine whether I was a good candidate for surgery and if so, what type of surgery would be best for me.After a handful of in-person assessments and a new eye care and cleaning regimen that I followed closely, Dr Sand determined that I’d be a good candidate for PRK surgery. He thoroughly laid out what the process would be like in terms of prep, the actual surgery, and healing. He took time to outline the risks and answer any questions I had in detail.He also recommended a lid cleaning treatment to further optimize my eyes for surgery and OMG it was fantastic!! Totally rid my eyes of allergies and therefore any rubbing I might be doing throughout the day, which has improved the look and feel of my eyes. They’re also less dry, which has allowed them to heal faster post-surgery.Dr Sand then took additional steps to examine my eyes before determining we could move forward with the surgery itself. All in all, we did a LOT of preparation in order to best optimize my eyes, and I’m SO happy we did!I also opted to have pictures taken of my eyes ahead of the surgery, which makes the treatment to be hyper-precise. This came at an additional cost but was% worth it.For the actual surgery, we went to a surgery center in Beverly Hills. The surgery center was clean, professional and welcoming the day of my surgery. Everything went by in a breeze with no issues.Dr Sand had me come in for checkups every day after surgery for the first four days, including a Sat/Sun. What other doctor would come in on the weekend like that?? He even answered an additional phone call at 9pm on a Saturday. Furthermore, this turned out to be pivotal because I accidentally hit my right eye with the tip of my prescription drops bottle and it caused a small amount of inflammation. Dr Sand spotted it the next morning and adjusted my treatment plan in order to eradicate any risk of infection. Because of this level of care and attention, I was able to avoid what might have become a major problem post-surgery.I’m now 2 weeks out from having had PRK and feel amazing. My eyes have been healing at the speed of light. After four days I had no pain. At one week I was able to drive no problem. My vision is fantastic already and continues to improve day by day, even if there is fluctuation (PRK takes longer to heal and stabilize than LASIK). All the prep is really paying off at this point and it’s obviously one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!!What’s become clear (no pun intended) is that having eye surgery is not just a “ZAP AND YOU’RE DONE” kind of situation. Everybody’s eyes are different and need their own plan of action. I know that Dr Sand took the time and attention to properly assess and think-through my needs. I felt safe in knowing that any issues would be taken care of effectively due to the fact that he’s a board-certified ophthalmologist and cornea specialist. Remember…It’s your VISION and you want somebody to be honestly invested in your long-term wellbeing and quality of life.Take the leap of faith! Youre in good hands here :)
