This doctor refused to see me unless three weeks had passed from the day I boarded an airplane, due to covid concerns. This policy has no scientific basis, I am experiencing pain on my right eye, and the doctor will not see me unless three weeks have passed. And, again, simply because I boarded a plane like millions of other Americans do every day. There is no medical evidence for a three week refusal-to-see policy, which makes me think whether this doctor is using any real science when examining patients.

Highly recommended! Dr. Bhandarkar has been my parents ophthalmologist for years. My dad was very happy with the results of his cataract removal without any occurring problems for the last 3 years! Dr B is an incredible doctor that comes highly referred to me by two of my doctors and my neighbor. He has gained a reputation for being one of the best eye doctors in Los Angeles. Not long ago ive been experiencing problem on my left eye. at first, i thought it was age related since im on my 60s already. fortunately, a friend recommended dr. bhandarkar so i decided to consult him about it. i found out that i have a serious problem, he explained to me in details the severity and the possibility of loosing my eyesight if its not corrected in due time. just the thought of undergoing a cataract surgery truly scared me but his professionalism, sincerity and genuine concern erased all my fears. i felt relieved and in just a matter of days he performed the procedure on my left eye. its just a little over a month now but it seems like i never had surgery at all coz i didnt feel any pain and my eyesight is perfect. i can honestly say to everyone that when it comes to all kinds of eye problem, dr. bhandarkar and his entire staff are the best.

I have been going to Dr. Sunil Bhandarkar for many years. And in 2012 he performed my cataract surgeries using Toric iols that also corrected my strong astigmatism. I was corrected to 20/20 vision, only needing reading glasses for closeup. No significant change in my vision since. I highly recommend Dr. Bhandarkar. In addition to being very pleasant, he is very knowledgeable and thorough.

I was afraid to go to the ophthalmologist. Dr. Bhandarkar changed that. His to concern for patients has no end. In 1969 I went a famous hospital, and the doctors gathered to check my eye. They concluded that I had cancer in my right eye, which I did not. Needless, to say I was traumatized and didnt go back to that hospital. Throughout the years I have gone to different ophthalmologists and it has never been a pleasant experience. Dr. Bhandarkar too my vision complaints seriously helped with my concerns. Had my cataract surgery done which was a breeze.No pain recovery was 24 hrs and back to work.After the second surgery now I don’t need my eye glasses at all.Preop preparation and post op follow up was excellent and have high praises for Dr Bhandekar and his team.

While my brother was visiting from out of the country, he experienced some visual discomfort. We were concerned as he had recently had Lasik surgery prior to his visit and we were not sure if it was related to the procedure. Needing to find someone local, we called Dr. Bhandarkars office. Not only were they able to see my brother on an emergent basis, but Dr. Bhandarkar and his staff were able to address the problem, reassure my brother, and were extremely professional. This doctor was empathetic and professional. I was referred to Dr B because I scratched my cornea unbeknownst to me.It was an extremely painful and scary experience and the Dr quickly put me at ease.I would seek out his services in the future!

Its always a great experience to be attended to by Dr. Bhandarkar and his staff. Everyone is great. People complain about parking, but if you can walk, then you can park for free on the residential street behind the office. Of course, for handicapped people, the parking could be a problem. Nonetheless, I have considered driving two hours+ after moving away from LA just to come back to the practice and be seen again. It is very hard to find care like this just about anywhere. Yes, sometimes you have to wait because of emergencies that supersede your appointment, but thats simply the way it goes; if you were an emergency, you would want Dr. Bhandarkar to see you ASAP.

The visit was fine but then I was charged for services with out being informed of anything. I was told it would be a 25 dollar co pay for a standard visits or 75 for a prescription. I paid the copay and 2 weeks later I get a bill for 150 dollars. I was never told why or what for.Edit, there was a clerical error and Sunil was very nice and had the balance waved

Dr. Sunil Bhandarkar is of the highest caliber. He goes an extra mile to care for his patients. My husband had scratched his cornea twice within a year. On both occasions he squeezed him in and saw him the same day because he recognizes the need for emergency services. He will text his colleagues in order that they see a new patient in a timely manner. He has colleagues who are vitreous specialists and he advocates for his patients. He explains issues to his patients rather than thinking that they might not understand. He also sends written instructions home with his patients of medications and procedures for their administration. He calls his patients if they were seen on emergency even on holidays! He also has a relationship with a pharmacy and the pharmacist which will deliver medication to your door because they understand that chain pharmacies might not carry certain medications for the eye! His nurse, Sandra, is always respectful and has a great deal of experience. The wait is never very long as it is in many cases with other doctors. There is also parking in his building with reasonable rates. I would recommend Dr. Bhandarkar to anyone because he is outstanding.

They need time management in their appointment. They told us to come at 2pm, 1 1/2 hr later still waiting. The receptionist said your next but there still calling other patient instead of us. If they can’t accommodate patient they shouldn’t give you an appointment at all and waste your time sitting and waiting. 15 mins is acceptable but over 1 1/2 is not acceptable.

Dr. Bhandarkar saved my vision. I had placed a brand new and tainted contact lens in my right eye to look for my glasses. I took a short nap and when I woke up my right eye was very red. I thought it was conjunctivitis but my vision became so blurry, I went to ER. The following morning, my mother scheduled an appointment with Dr Bhandarkar. This was my first time seeing him. I’d gone to Costco for glasses and saw whomever was prescribing glasses.Dr Bhandarkar examined my eye and referred me to Jules Stein as my condition was so dire, the customary ophthalmology equipment was not sufficient. (Dr Bhandarkar later—after I regained my vision —told me I was legally blind in my right eye).But Dr Bhandarkar didn’t just refer me and go about his business. Astonishingly, he called Jules Stein to expedite their seeing me. He went far beyond what a physician usually does (even ones with whom there is a long standingrelationship—- and as I stated above this was my first visit).Although, it took months for my vision to return, it did come back and although my prescription is stronger, I do not suffer from corneal scarring and I attribute the positive result to Dr. Bhandarkar as well as the team at Jules Stein.To summarize Dr Bhandarkar is an extremely knowledgeable opthalmologist. He puts the patient first and assesses the treatment and the equipment needed to promote the most favorable outcome. And, he contacts colleagues doggedly to make sure the patient is attended to immediately when (as in my case) urgent treatment demarcates blindness and sight.
