Great selection and super helpful staff. Maybe not the cheapest place but it feels good to support local businesses and actually get expert advice when you need it - these people love dogs. They’re also very fair / generous about returns.

This place will scan lost dogs for microchips for free. Employees are very friendly. And they have great products.

This place is awesome! I love the artwork all around the building. A large open floor with lots of products from toys, food and morel The staff is great! Super friendly and knowledgeable. He taught me and my friend what to look for in kibble and why it matters. Plus if your pet doesnt like the product there is 100% guarantee to switch for alternative.

I think its on the pricier side but its good. My picky cat and dog enjoy the food from BlueCollar the Most. The staff is also very helpful.

We went to run some errands and happened to walk right in front of this totally new place for us since we dont go to the echo park area as often as we did many years ago. We walked in to this big nice and clean place. Very well stocked. We were pleased to find some products cheaper than other stores (thats the only reason for that one star). The only thing is that we didnt hear a single welcome from any of the employees. We walked around and there was this guy just leaning on some packages there, and Im sure he was an employee there. There was another sitting right behind the counter that just looked at us and went back to mind his own business. What I mean is that, we walked around very obviously looking for some specific items and none of them bother to go and ask us if we needed help or if we had any question...but thats probably because were not that fancy looking to waste their time, or business is going great that they can careless about one more or one less customer. I did not feel welcome at all. Bad, bad service for sure.

Great selection of EVERYTHING dog and i especially love their selection of raw food. best quality accessories, especially for big dogs. good quality isnt cheap so i really like their punch cards that gives u a punch for every $50 spent and $50 off when its filled up. the staff is really cool and very knowledgeable too. love this place!

I purchased a service dog vest for my dog here. I left the store to go about my business and put the new vest on him while he was working. Within a few minutes of me putting the vest my service dog began to shake his body, scratch, and was exhibiting signs of distress. My service dog is both well behaved and well trained, he does not act this way for no reason. I bent down to examine him closer to see what was bothering him, to my horror I discovered the new vest I had just purchased from this store was infested with small white bugs crawling all over the vest and onto my dog. I immediately removed the vest from my service animal and attempted to call the store multiple times with no answer. The voicemail stated they were not accepting new voicemails at this time so I was left with no other choice than to return to the store and try to figure out what these bugs that were now on my service animal were. My service animal continued to itch and scratch and act as though something was irritating him during this time. When I entered the store again I showed the man at the counter the vest with the insects crawling all over it which he acknowledged and said something to the effect that sometimes bugs fall from the ceiling. This alarmed me greatly to hear that the store may have known about the insect issue that potentially harmed my service animal yet sold me this vest anyways. I asked the store employee if he knew what they were, he said he could not tell me for certain. I asked him if he had anything to remove the unknown insect from my service animal who may I remind you was still exhibiting signs of distress, he said no. I called my service animal’s veterinarian, they were unable to see him until the next day. The emergency veterinarian offices I called were able to look but said to keep my money because even if they could tell me what bug was on my service animal, they would be unable to prescribe anything because they do not typically carry insecticides so I would have to see my regular veterinarian anyways to get whatever medication my service animal might need. I had no other choice but to wait until the next morning while my service animal continued to exhibit signs of distress and was unable to perform his job properly due to the insects on his body. As a working dog handler I am extremely displeased with this situation and I’m certain if my service dog could speak he would say the same. Though I was able to return the items and the cashier was not unfairly unkind, not one person in the store made any attempt to apologize for the situation and now I have to spend extra money to get my service dog back into prime health and address the medical concerns related to an unknown insect exposure. I do not wish any ill will towards this store or it’s employees however I will not will I ever recommend anyone going back here. I’m sure everyone’s experience at this store is different, this was mine and it was not a pleasant one. As it stands I have emailed the store and also contacted them on Instagram as well and have yet to hear a response. Thank you for reading this and have a nice day.

How did I not know this place existed?! I’ve been running around trying to find my 50lb pit-mix a harness, leash, and collar that works for every day and on the trail... def not finding that at some of the dainty human focused dog stores around LA. BCWD sorted me out AND we got a massive Halloween goody bag FULL of treats.Super chill place. My new go-to. Oh and tons of parking.

I love this store, but the employees didnt seem very knowledgeable in dog sports or protection which is why Im giving 4 stars instead of five. I would expect a place of this caliber to have experienced working dog people employed to assist customers with their questions and needs.

I’ve been recommending them since they opened for training, specialty dog gear, and later their general retail items as a dog walker, rescuer and pet retail manager when my store didn’t have what someone needed. I still think their training is some of the best, most affordable, and most consistently accessible and proven in LA that I have found.Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the retail side. The selection is good but the caring of some of the specialty dog food is inconsistent. Also the customer service is hit or miss. I’ve had experiences with really helpful people and then I’ve had experiences with others that wanted to engage very minimally and even give inaccurate information. I had already bought the same bag of dog food two times there and when I came back to try to get it again the employee continued to insist that they had never carried it.They also have a loyalty program where they put your name and phone number down but twice out of the four times I recently went there they could not find my name on the system. Therefore, I wasn’t building up accurate rewards towards the future.Lastly, they were closed the day before Thanksgiving and there was no sign posted about it at least on the closed gate, neither was there anything on their website or were their times updated on Google maps. I did email them first instead of leaving a review and I made sure that the email was not harsh and just wanted to express it was disappointing since the food I get I have to get there, or else I have to order online from Chewy. I did also say if for any reason there was an emergency and that’s why they had to close I apologize for the email and understand. I did not get a reply back at all.

Very nice staff that really do know their stuff about dog nutrition, diet, and life style. The actual store itself is pretty spacious so it doesnt feel cramped. Additionally, the place doesnt smell like wet dog or old pet food as a lot of pet store places do so thats a plus.

I always leave with something special for my dog. They are very helpful and knowledgeable.

I love this place bc they give out top of the line food in their donations for dogs and cats as well. They offer training from general to k9 security. The facility is huge and they have all the things you want or need to make your pet happy healthy and well trained which makes everyone happy and the dog life much more content.

I never write any reviews and it usually takes a lot to satisfy me but I absolutely have to recommend the private dog training at blue collar. The owner is absolutely amazing, and he can make miracles with your dog! I have seen several trainers in LA and none could advice me as good as they did here! You absolutely get what you pay for. I highly recommend this place!

5 stars all around. I reached out seeking help for my sudden on leash dog aggression dog, Oliver. He already has a history of fear of strangers and now dogs? I was stressing out how this is going to limit the places I can take him. I have literally spent thousands on board and train & on countless trainers trying to fix his fear around new people in the past. Barry was very informative and straightforward that I was not being a leader for Oliver and how that plays a role in his choices he makes. Undoing 4 years of habits is a learning curve for sure, but Im confident now with this new knowledge. Best $100 and hour spent at Blue Dog. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

Low cost vet clinic monthly, fast, good customer service, organized, clean

As an employee of Echo Park Vet Clinic, its very convenient for me to be able to go here for my pet supplies. I find what Im looking for most of the time and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They have an enormous amount of pet products that are all high quality. Im glad the people of the real bark rescue organization referred this facility to me as well as the employee at the urban pet store in Eagle Rock.

Helpful and great selection of anything you could need.

The training classes are amazing. I have been to classes at several other places over the years and two others now with a new dog and Blue Collar classes are so far beyond the others there is no comparison. Tanya especially is amazing. Really learning how to communicate and relate to my dog so he is happier and more secure.

Fantastic place, situated in a warehouse with its own parking (a rarity in Echo Park). Tons of dog food varieties, including fresh frozen or refrigerated raw food. Lots of toys, leashes, collars and specialty equipment for working dogs. Stuff for cats, too! Great staff, who bring their own pups to the store.

They had a 14 inch Leather Collar for only $7.00 and even helped me with a 2 week free supply of dog food because I was having a financial constraint at the time. At any other store that same collar would have been anywhere up to $30.00. I also loved the free treat bucket at the checkout counter! They also have Quality Harnesses for your dogs. Although the harnesses cost like $60.00 they are worth every penny of it.

Cute warehouse store with absolutely anything you could need for a dog. We even tried some of the agility stuff while shopping for a harness for my border collie. One star down because there is no air conditioning which makes it hot and muggy in the summer, but they do a good job with fans.

LOVE THIS PLACE! They have everything your dog needs. Best selection of food, toys, treats and collars/leashes (they have the most gorgeous leather collars and leashes here). The customer service is amazing and they are very helpful if you have any questions. They also offer a vet service once a month that is like $25 for a check up.

False advertising. They had something that was listed as $0.00 so I bought it and paid shipping. If they had integrity, they would have sent it then corrected their mistake in pricing. Instead they gave me a refund and then corrected their mistake. Bad business. Take better care of your site.

They are very conscious about what they sell, the staff is the right amount of friendly, and informative. Some things can be a little pricey, but youre paying for quality items.

Fun place for dogs because they have obstacle courses and treat samples. I walk my dog past here often, and he always wants to go in. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent selection of goods, including reputable dog food brands. Despite being a dog-centric place, they thankfully also carry a smaller but well-curated selection of kitty stuff, including Orijen and Acana.

I live in Eagle Rock and was trying to find a pet store for my dog that wasnt part of a big chain. I had passed Blue Collar a few times and was always taken by the striking blue and white sign on the side of their t building on Glendale Blvd.Once inside, though, Blue Collar is far from non-descript. The place is filled to the rafters with everything I would possibly need for my dog. Food, treats, supplements, supplies and all sorts of stuff (including some things that quite frankly frightened me) lined the walls. It would have been quite intimidating were it not for the staff. It was the staff there that was the reason I wanted to go to a small shop rather than a large chain in the first place. They didnt try to upsell me or tell me I needed a million things that I didnt. Instead, they hooked me up with a bunch of free samples for my pooch so he could pick the food he liked best. In the end, I didnt buy the most expensive stuff, just what was the best for my dog.With a great selection and an even better staff, Blue Collar is the type of store that makes it easy for you to pamper your pooch and feel good about it at the same time.

Leash sold to me by owner had no warning of latex padding in hand strap, and caused an allergic reaction similar to 3rd degree burns that left me with scars. Recommended tug toys fall apart within a week because the straps are only stitched an inch into the leather part of the toy.

I cannot say enough of how awesome this place is!! It actually has decent collars, harnesses, muzzle, toys, food and generally almost anything you can think of for your working dog! It also has stuff for regular pets too. The items here will last unlike the crap you get at the BigBox pet stores! Also forget Amazon or other online stores, since you need to have your dog try on that muzzle or figure out which tug is best for him by actually holding it!The owner, Barry and his staff are very knowledgeable and helpful too. I will definitely be going here in the future even though it is far for me coming from South OC.

One of the largest dog shops in Los Angeles and it is right in Echo Park. Super knowledgeable about food and behavior and allergies. Also they are the largest retailer of Ruffwear in Los Angeles, which makes amazing leashes and collars.
