My daughter went for her first exam and we had a really positive experience. The doctor made it very comfortable for her and helped explain everything well. As we were finishing up, the staff kept my children occupied so I could finish filling out some paper work. Thank you so much for a great appointment! Will recommend.

I was so excited that they were able to get my crazy strong prescription in any frame I wanted after getting turned away by Americas best. The frame is super cute and the lenses actually look better than my last pair of glasses that made my eyes look extremely small. Unbelievably nice folks (and a specific shout-out to Chelsea) and great service! I brought in my Ray-Ban prescription sunglasses for a repair that seemed hopeless and tough to fix (the metal frame was twisted at the nose piece), but they did the trick in 10 minutes at no charge. I am a Colorado native and lived in Longmont for a long time and always knew of this place but never been... moved to Nebraska nearly two years ago and came to visit the family that remained and I managed to lose a single contact without realizing it until next morning. Called them and sent them my prescription and they were quick to make sure they had some in my power level. Got it from them and only needed one and they gave it for free. My glasses are terrible condition due to age and basically just used for night time going to bed so driving 4 hours with them due to not having both contacts wouldnt have been fun or really safe. I appreciate them so much for helping me out and the inside of there is beautiful and I think it is the best looking place Ive been too in my entire life of wearing glasses since I was 10. Nearly 23 years! Worth checking out as they are all friendly and kind.

I want to express what an exceptional experience I had today with The Optical Centre! I developed a stye yesterday and woke up with a deteriorating situation this morning ( of course on the weekend). Im so glad that I called these people! They got me an appointment in 45 minutes, explained how to do the online paperwork ahead of the appointment, to save time. I walked in and waited only three minutes until Dr Erica Whitmire took me in the exam room. Dr. Whitmire was kind, professional, and efficient. She was very thorough and explained everything in simple laymen terms. Experiences like this are becoming rare these days, so I wanted to put a big shout out for them.

Wonderful Service! You can walk in and immediately feel like one of the family! The employees really go above and beyond when taking care of your needs!

Okay I have to start off by saying that I had some Silhouette Frames that were 8 or more years old and smashed numerous times by my big dogs , no fault of theirs. Anyway they were adjusted by a place down the street and a couple of times by Talesa and Andrea. It was time for new frames. I got fitted wth new frames and was on my way in no time at all. I need to let you know that Chelsea, Talesa and Andrea delivered the best customer service with a smile and fantastic professionalism. I knew the previous owners of the Optical Centre for many many years! Since I knew them both, I decided to drive to Longmont to get an exam and replace my existing glasses at the Centre! That is one of the best decisions I ever made.I haven’t been back to the Optical Centre since the end of 2017. Last week, I decided it was time to get the nose pads replaced and the frames adjusted and since I was in Longmont anyway.To my surprise, I was taken care of at the Optical Centre as if the previous owners had never sold out and moved back to the Great Lakes region!Chelsea dialed my glasses in the way they should be! She marked the correct locations of where the prescriptions were in the lenses and then she adjusted the frame and lenses accordingly!Chelsea is extremely talented at making the glasses fit PROPERLY (KUDOs go out to Chelsea)!! While I was there (based on the great service I received from Chelsea) I scheduled an eye exam with the new O.D. Dr. Erica Whitmire.Wow, is Erica off the charts as well! They have all the latest hi-tech devices to insure you are getting the best eye care possible and yes, she has 8 years of Education to go along with her resources. Things could not have gone any better with the exam I received from Dr. Whitmire!! Oh, and no more dilating the pulps to check the eye health. This is done via a new Camera process.Andrea, the Office Manager is right up there with the other 2 as well!!Botton line, there is no better place to get an eye exam and update you Rx than with these 3 ladies at the Optical Centre in Longmont!!

My eye was causing me pain and I obviously needed my doctors help but it was Sunday and the office was closed. I took a chance to go to their website and there I found an option to request a medical appointment. They had that option for last minute emergencies. Brilliant!!!!! I grabbed the first available time slot which was 9am at opening. I was quickly attended to and prescribed the necessary medication to relieve my eye infection. I was back on my way in less than an hour. Such a professional and caring staff. I highly recommend the Optical Centre

Came here for an eye exam and had a great experience. Staff were friendly and polite. The doctor was excellent and gave a very thorough exam. The exam included depth of field and color vision tests, which seem to often be skipped at other offices. She also did an excellent job of explaining everything she was checking and what she was seeing and made it very easy to ask questions. As it worked out it wasn’t a good day to have my eyes dilated which the staff and doctor accepted without any issue. The doctor explained why she can give a more thorough exam with dilation, hence why she recommends it in general, she accepted it didn’t work for me that day without being the least bit pushy, like I’ve experienced at other locations. And while I was waiting for my exam (I arrived about 20 minutes early), one of the staff members helped me look at frames. She was very helpful, listening to my preferences and suggesting frames that worked for me and providing good feedback (I normally don’t enjoy the frame selection process). As it turned out my prescription really hadn’t changed, so decided to hold off on buying a new pair for now. Overall a great experience, I would definitely recommend them.

New owners = disappointing! We used to love the Optical Centre (and we loved supporting local small business owners). Unfortunately, we will not be going back after our last visit. After trying progressive lenses (which was an astronomical out-of-pocket cost $$$$) and expressing that they were not working, I was told by an employee that I could replace them for single vision lenses, but I would not be refunded the difference (even though i went back during the guarantee period). I was informed that they would have to eat the cost and then they proceeded to try to convince me I had not given the glasses a fair enough trial period. So, now I am stuck with extremely expensive glasses that do not work for me.Also, my son’s lens got a scratch. They said they would call or text when the replacement lens was ready. He had to go in to fix a hinge and asked if the lens was ready, by chance, since he had never heard from them. They proceeded to lecture him that he needed to text or call them before coming in. I don’t appreciate the rude manner in which they treated a young man who was trying to be independent.Dr. Whitmyre was nice enough and knowledgeable enough. Unfortunately, we will be going somewhere else.

I had an unfortunate fishing accident when I dropped my prescription glasses into the lake and watched them sink into the abyss. So on Monday I went into the Optical Centre for the first time and explained my situation. Luckily I had an older pair of Oakley frames that I had bought on EBay without prescription lenses. They said they could have my new lenses in my Oakley frames and ready the next day, because they do all of their own work in house. Wow, what great customer service, Prompt, Intelligent, and I only spent $100 without using my vision insurance.As life is rough, a couple months later, while working on my Jeep, I snapped my Oakley Jack knife 4.0 frames. By now I had figured out what vision insurance I had and I knew what frames and lenses I wanted. But, the frames wouldn’t be in for about two weeks. Jeff the owner was incredible he is very smart, and knowledgeable. He took my prescription lenses out of my Oakley frames and found a loaner pair of frames and simple swapped frames, I also ordered a couple of frames I liked. It took less than 20 minutes during my lunch break and I was back on the road again.There are some business that think they have great service but unfortunately they have never been to the Optical Centre!

I trusted my eyes to the Optical Centre and recommend you do the same. Their staff are real pros and they are really great people. They completely understand the concept of customer service. This was the best experience I have ever had getting glasses.They have an awesome selection of frames in what seemed to be an unlimited amount of styles - including some fashion forward styles that no one else has. I had such a great experience getting an eye exam at The Optical Centre with Dr. Whitmire! They were able to schedule a same day appointment and took me right on time. The office itself was beautiful, well kept, and very clean. Dr. Whitmire spent an ample amount of time with me, explaining the details of my prescription, what I should ask for when ordering lenses and which frames would work best for my lifestyle. The quality time she was able to spend with me really set this office and eye exam apart from any past experiences I have had! I recently visited the Optical Centre after coming to grips with the fact that my 41 year old eyes are not what they used to be. The staff there were wonderful to work with. They demonstrated an expert knowledge of their products and had a real talent for identifying a frame that fit my style and personality. I used to love this place. The former owners, Jeff and Karen Lees, really worked hard to get me into glasses that my eyes could tolerate and that wouldnt trigger ocular migraines. Though I was sad to see them go, I didnt have any hesitation about continuing to get my glasses from Longmont Optical Centre. Unfortunately, it hasnt turned out well at all. The cost for the specialized tints I use has nearly tripled. Most disappointing of all, however, is the service. I primarily interacted with a staff member who stayed on after the business changed hands, and I found her to be unyielding, surly, and unprofessional (she justified the steep price increase by saying Well, Jeff used to practically give stuff away.) I am loathe to write a negative review. That said, my experience was decidedly unpleasant and my hope is that the owners will take this to heart.

At this point in my life, I most admire the people and organizations that are at the top of their game and, consequently, are the best at their particular game. These are not necessarily the people who make the most money, or who have the greatest recognition…or the most customers. It means the people who’s personal achievement is also an achievement in their art or their business or their academy. I’m not trying to be dramatic; I’m trying to be precise. I’m trying to say that anything that is pursued with passion and practiced with excellence is worth praising: If we can call out a great artist or a great teacher or a great cop, or a great tailor, then we should call out the great optician. Really. So, It’s with equal measures of wisdom, experience, and humility that I point to Jeff and his crew at The Optical Centre and say, “those guys are remarkable; they’re the best.” Technically, they are not merely proficient, they are cutting-edge. (Ask Jeff to show you his CNC machine.) Personally, they’re warm, accommodating, and loyal. They’re always happy you’ve come into their shop and, every time I’ve been there, everybody else is happy to be there. It’s a lovely, local vibe.Stylistically, though, The Optical Centre seems a little less local. It seems a little more New York or London than it does Longmont. Jeff’s aesthetic and design sensibility is subtle and sophisticated and the result of years of practiced observation of all things sublimely cool. And it’s personal. That is to say, his stylistic opinions don’t necessarily derive from a general sense; rather, they derive from his knowledge of the relationship of the object to the person who is interested in the object. And that’s why when Jeff says, “those glasses look great on you,” or “no, not that pair,” he’s usually nailed it.I guess maybe I should dial this back a bit: You need some shades or some classes and it’s something that really matters to you? Go the Optical Centre.

After 30 years as a customer I wont be going back. Former owners Jeff & Karen were unique characters who cant be replaced, but its definitely NOT new owners, but the same great service as the new guy behind the counter proclaimed. Heres the condensed version of my recent experience: Ordering a smaller frame than was on display turned into a back order of over 2 weeks, despite being told it was available upon placing the order. When the glasses did arrive, one lens had no prescription! The new guy said itd take a couple of days to replace. Hardly. It took even longer than the original 10 days turn around after the frames finally arrived. There was never any acknowledgment/apology for this experience that dragged on for over 5 weeks. While the price was actually a bit less than what I was accustomed to paying under the previous owners, it was not worth the hassle. Sad to see this happening to a Longmont gem.

Not only is Jeff a MASTER at his craft, hes also pretty much the nicest guy youll ever meet. Hes helped me out many times with everything from glasses to custom sunglasses clips - he even refurbished a pair of genuine vintage cat eye glasses I found and put new lenses in them! I wouldnt trust my glasses to anyone else... and I live in Aurora :)

Jeff and Karen are wonderful folks. I had been searching for a particular solution to my eyeglass issue for some time. My eyes are very light sensitive and previous glasses had the xtra-active lenses which would darken them when outside. Unfortunately, they were never dark enough so I was forced to carry around my prescription sunglasses and was constantly swapping glasses when inside or outside. What I was looking for was a tinted lens which would help with indoor fluorescents and yet also have the xtra-active for when I was outdoors. A couple other shops told me that scenario wasnt possible. I stopped by the Optical Centre and Karen and Jeff said that it was possible. I had an eye exam right there, picked out new frames and discussed it all with them. I was in a tight timeline as I was heading out of state in less than 2 weeks. Fast forward. In less than 2 weeks, I have finally found my solution. my new glasses are slightly tinted for indoor use and they darken really dark once I step outside. I cannot speak highly enough about these folks. Great shop, super caring people and an aging golden retriever milling around adding to the experience. great place. 5 stars and would very highly recommend. Thank you again Jeff and Karen. Your expertise is very much appreciated.

They have a great boutiquette selection of frames and offer specialty eyewear services; you can get your prescription ski google inserts, specialized biking glasses, and chemistrie magnetic clips and lens, all made onsite!
