As a business professional thats responsible for providing a service, its not often that I give a five stars. Usually enter some fraction. My aged furnace gave up with a motor issue. I called Cates service team on weekend and they responded immediately and sent out a technician. Unfortunately my part due to backlog and availability would take awhile to source and cost me a pretty penny. I instead asked about replacing as the unit would inevitably continue in downward spiral. The sales team was out, provided many options, and ultimately decided to replace the unit.Due to the anticipation of higher costs of gas, parts, and repairs I did a combo that replaced my air conditioner as well. I was so impressed with the installation, efficiency, and thoroughness of the crew that I write this review. Its not often you move so fluently through service, to sales, and to installation teams . Nicely done and big thank you to all the Cates team.

Chuck and his aide worked on a variety of items we had from our new house inspection. Impressive that the same guy that gave me the quote came and did the work. The young man that did the AC check was very courteous and explained to me everything he had worked on. Chuck even did an adder when our new refrigerator was delivered and we needed a tie in for a new water line...didnt bother him a bit. Ill recommend these guys for anyone looking for work of this type in the future

After losing AC late Monday afternoon, Cate’s had a repair technician (Dan) out the next morning. Dan clearly explained the core issue (corroded circuit board) and his observations, provided a repair quote, and explained the pros/cons of installing a new system. Dan also implemented a short term fix so that we’d have AC through some 90 degree weather. After receiving several well-explained options for a new furnace/AC system, we made a selection Thursday - and installation began Friday morning.The installation team (Dillon and Scott) arrived at 8 am sharp. They resolved several unexpected system issues professionally and quickly and communicated well throughout the day. One stubborn issue with the existing damper system kept them working until 7:30 pm on a Friday - they ensured we had a fully functional system for the weekend and they were back out 8 am Monday to resolve the remaining problems. Our full process from first call to final install was less than a week and we were very happy with the quality of service at every stage. We would recommend Cate’s to anyone.

Pem from Cates was extremely easy to work with and found exactly the solution we needed. We got a new furnace and a/c unit from Carrier and are very pleased with the whole process. Cates visited my house 4 times this year. Their visits were ok. But i am disappointed today. Because they charged twice for one same issue.a technician came last week and told me condenser fan motor need to be replaced. He introduced me their sales man for installing new A/C unit before replacing new fan motor. He told me cost for replacing fan motor will be credited to new A/C unit. Because I have home warranty. He charged me $70. Sales man came and negotiated the price for a few days. I decided replacing fan motor instead of installing new A/C. Because price is too high. Another technician came today and replaced new fan motor. He charged me $70 again. I told him I already paid for. He called his boss and told me he should. If the first technician replaced new fan motor last week, did i pay $70 twice? Am i stupid seeing their sales man?

Everyone I have met over the past year has been professional, courteous, timely and responsive. Its among the best experiences Ive had as a homeowner in 30+ years! Its family and locally owned which is important to me and my husband. Highly recommend!

We received incredible service from four different Cates technicians (Dylan, Scott, Shane, and another Scott). After servicing a very old A/C and furnace at our townhome, Cates helped us convince our rental company that we needed a whole new system and quickly replaced our entire air conditioner and furnace. They were in and out in under 8 hours and left their workspace cleaner than they found it. 10/10

Cates is professional, reliable, thorough and knowledgeable. Our air conditioner went out before a long weekend. They came out the same day to get it running again until they could do the full install a couple days later. We are thrilled with their service

Our office contacted Cates on a referral for our property management business. Working with the Director of Operations, a vendor agreement was initiated and assurances were received from Cates that the service calls would be handled the following day. A follow up call to the Director confirmed all of the information was received and that services would be performed. Late in the day the Director left a voicemail requesting a return call and no other information. A follow up the following morning determined that Cates had no intentions of following through with the arrangement or conducting the needed service calls with 90+ temps. Very poor handling and unprofessional business-to-business relations. They may be okay for individual homeowners, but not recommended for business needs.

Dan who advised and sold the system was very thorough and showed up at the beginning of the install to make sure things were as planned. Joe and John who handled the full install of the AC unit, new furnace and thermostats were great! Very polite, professional, great work and did a complete walk through explaining all work that was done and answered any and all questions!

I had my 20yo A/C and furnace replaced and couldnt be more pleased with the experience. Im an architect, so I tend to be pretty fussy when it comes to selecting contractors and working out the details of a project. The sales and installation staff made at least four trips to my house to review the existing condition, answered all of my questions thoroughly, and provided satisfactory pricing. The installers were professional, prompt and did very clean work, even protecting the floors leading to the work area without being asked. I will most certainly be calling them back the next time I need plumbing, electrical or HVAC work.

Bad Service and I do not think they are organized or even know how to handle quotes. I really think most of their reviews are fake. be careful dealing with this company.

Let me preface by saying we’ve happily used CATES for almost 20 years for our HVAC needs. They’ve always been trustworthy. I didn’t realize they also had a plumbing dept.We had a leaky toilet from “rookie” installers. I called CATES on a Friday. They came out the following Monday afternoon (fast response). The repairman was there about 30 minutes. He pulled the toilet, put a new wax ring on and reset the toilet. The bill came to $275!! We hadn’t had a plumber come out in several years so maybe I’m out of touch with current costs, but I was shocked at the price! He did fix the leak but if anyone has a similar problem, maybe get a reliable handyman? Or get it right the first time lol JS. We will still use CATES in the future though.Update: A few friends have since told me that this seemed like a reasonable fee. I was out of touch lol

The Dylan’s were some of the most professional and friendly people I’ve used for HVAC. Firstly, my dog loved them & she doesn’t like anyone. 2nd they were on time for both appointments. They worked in a tight crawl space from 9-4:30. Also very knowledgeable about our old systems! 10/10 stars would refer to anyone & everyone I know. Cannot say enough great things about them and their representation of Cates. I also work from home like most to do today & they made it so easy.

Our service man, Brian, was on time, courteous and thorough in the inspection of our AC Unit. We have switched to Cates Heating and Cooling after another big heating and cooling company has tried to convince us we need new AC/Heating units with each maintenance visit. Cates gives us a honest assessment and will economically fix issues before suggesting new units.

I have used cates multiple times because it’s who carefree home warranty uses for all heating, plumbing and electrical services. Always amazing service except for an encounter This most recent visit there was a lot of miscommunication and I called to express this over the phone and the person who answered the phone was extreme rude and it wasn’t until I called him out on it that he verbalized that he was the owner, his name is Jeff. So hard to believe that this company is ran by such an unprofessional individual. Didn’t even apologize for what I was complaining about. My plumber that came out was great and did a great job, he’s been out to fix something for me before however the cost of my service was 525 (supposedly my warrant doesn’t cover it) crazy thing is the job only took a little less that 1 hour and I was quoted something completely different which is the miscommunication I was speaking on earlier. This all makes me want to reconsider renewing my warranty through carefree due to the service I received from the owner of cates, Jeff.

Dillon and team were superb. They carefully installed multiple HVAC-related items in a small space and tested the equipment after installation to ensure everything worked as intended. This crew was courteous and thoroughly explained what they were doing as the job progressed. Upon job completion, the crew left the site clean and orderly. Im very pleased with Cates and commend Dillon and crew for their technical skill and diligence.

We called Cates on the hottest day since 2018 after our AC blew up & they came to our rescue within an hour! The service technician worked hard to put a bandaid on our 26 year old Cates unit to no avail. We were given 3 options & chose to get an entire new heating & cooling system. Pem Newberry came out to show us our options for installation. They were here the next day at 8am & Joe & Cody worked diligently to get our new system up & running. They ran into some snags but their expertise was impressive. So within 24 hours we had a house cooling down from 90 degrees! We can’t say enough about these individuals & are so pleased with their professionalism, friendliness & workmanship.

Air conditioner service has been performed annually by Cates for us for many years. Their techs always do a great job and answer my questions. The service done today was consistent with their high standard.

I highly recommend Cates Heating and AC. They came out the same day I called and got my furnace working while it was zero degrees outside. I ended up replacing the furnace and AC because they were 25 years old. They came back the next day to give me a quote and installed the units two days later. They were responsive, honest, friendly and professional. I was completely pleased with the entire experience.

They had to replace parts twice, that did not fix the issue, then they replaced the entire new unit with another new unit. For a year now we have listened to a howling noise that they don’t see to care about. Just say no to Cates. I wish I could let you hear this noise. Carrier told us to write them a bad review, cates doesn’t care about what customers think. Their “team” sat us down and told us to be happy. Unbelievable.

Kylar of Cates H&C is a fantastic serviceman! Hes friendly, knowledgeable and clean. My dog even liked him :) He quickly diagnosed the problem with the AC, including testing the back-up batteries in case the fix was quick and easy. Then he explained it to me in plain language. He gave me several options, along with pros and cons of each.Heres what Kylar told me: He cleaned the gunk out of the condensate pump, and got it working. He says its gunk from the air - pollen, dander, dust, etc. This old pump may last 2 days or even years, theres no way to predict. I could clean out the condensate pump myself quarterly, or Cates could do this twice a year on their maintenance visit. OR he could put in a new pump for $450 - but Id be putting a new part onto a 19-year old system, and when the system has to be replaced, the pump would have to be replaced again too. He cant say how long the system will last, but its very old, probably near the end of its life. He said it was totally up to me, no pressure - he just gave me information to make my own decision.I decided to leave the old pump in place on the old system, since he got it working. Ill see how long the old system will run, and when it breaks Ill get an estimate from Cates for a new system. Kylar explained that the old coolant, Freon, is not sold in the US anymore. Now theyre using a new coolant, Puron.Id like to give Kylar the highest review. And, as icing on the cake - he brought my 2 empty trashcans from the curb back up to the house. Ive never known a serviceman to do that. Im so happy with my service.Kylar is the best!Eve S.

Phone calls with the business prior to them sending someone were very easy and pleasant, and they sent someone over the morning after I called. The gentleman that did the maintenance on my heating unit was professional, friendly, and answered all of my questions, even those not directly related to the specific service I was getting. I called Cates with a heating issue ion one of the coldest days of the year. Mike came to my home to check my furnace , we were with out heat. The DETAIL and time Mike took to make sure we were running and the system was operating and highest efficiency. Mike was professional, extremely knowledgeable, and cared about his work. Awesome customer service. Fantastic tech!!! Our service tech, Dan, walked me through all the trouble shooting. Made a few adjustments to our noisy furnace. Now it runs quiet and worry free. Even took the time to give me an in depth tutorial on all the crazy functions my thermostat can do (ie heat pump, delay, even change the color on background and font). He also made sure that all the sensors settings were correct and programmed to optimal efficiency. Now my thermostat is as excited for the Super Bowl as I am! GO CHIEFS!!!

We initially had Neal Harris come look at our furnace when it stopped working because were new to the area and our home, and their sticker was on the system. Anyway, it was the 3 days where the high temperature was not over 0 degrees and they told us wed need a whole new HVAC system installed and it was going to cost tens of thousands of dollars and several days. We were feeling stuck, but luckily I got a second opinion! Dwan at Cates came by (and while we were out of town, because our house was FREEZING) and was able to get everything back online no problem. We were shocked and so very thankful that he was able to get our home heated again during the coldest days of the year. Id recommend them to anyone because he saved us so much money and heartache!

Ive used CATES for years and have been impressed by their ability and willingness to backup their work. I used them in 2014 to install new HVAC in my old house and used them again in 2021 in a different house. They do quality work. Dillion took the time to listen to every concern I had and answer all my questions. He educated me about my system and went above and beyond my expectations. Even the little things like running wires or water lines, the way they did it looked clean and you can tell he took the extra time to do it right. He made me feel comfortable with my purchase and ensured I will use CATES again in the future.

We woke to a cold house on a cold winter morning. Our heat wasn’t working. A friend recommended CATES so that’s who we called. The technician, Curtis, responded within the hour, he was courteous, efficient and obviously knew his business. The good news is that he was able to get the emergency heat running, the bad news was that we needed to replace our heat pump and entire HVAC system. Within the day we received a quote, which was significantly better than what neighbors paid for a similar system several years ago. Early Monday morning two equally courteous and knowledgeable technicians Trent and Dillon arrived on time and within 5 hours our new hi-efficiency Carrier system was up and running. When they were done the area was so neat and clean one would never know that anyone had been there, then they took the time to explain what they did, and the differences between the old system and the new. Everyone at CATES, from the operator who took my initial call to the technicians who did the repairs and installation were friendly and did their best to make a bad situation tolerable. I will never use another HVAC service company, in fact, I signed up for their affordable annual service contract and encourage anyone needing repairs or service to give them a try.
