I was admitted to IU Arnett Hospital for pneumonia. Terrible pain and difficulty breathing: COVID-19 Positive test upon my arrival got me admitted. From beginning to end of my 5-day stay, I was treated by professional, caring doctors, nurses, aides and staff who were courteous and compassionate. Dr. Brundidge, one of my attending physicians, was knowledgeable, straightforward, and effective in treating my infection. Nurses and aides like Mike, Katelyn, Jason, Sandy and Meagan were friendly, professional, caring and always ready to help me in my recovery. The food: I’ve been in hospitals around the globe, and the food here at IU was the best I’ve had in this country, by far. Want 2 trays? Order another one! Meatloaf with roasted potatoes and gravy was delicious! I really was thoroughly impressed with the food service and quality at the hospital. The food service workers deserve a big pat on the back for their hard work and dedication to their professions. My caretakers were always mindful of my pain levels, and continuously checked on my latest test results for any changes. Thorough ultrasound tests on my legs even revealed a blood clot we knew nothing about, and I received treatment for it under the careful observation of my doctors. Even upon my discharge, the pharmacy was fast to fill my prescriptions, and even spent several minutes on the phone with a pharmaceutical company to activate a $10/month copay card for my medicine. Otherwise, it would’ve been several hundred dollars per month! Even the nice lady who took me out of the hospital in a wheelchair was patient and helpful while we waited. At every single turn during this visit, I was met with kindness, compassion, and professionalism. All of these factors certainly played a part in my fast recovery and discharge from the hospital. We will definitely be choosing IU Arnett Hospital in the future for our medical needs, and look forward to dealing with the caring staff again. Five stars for this review, no doubt.

I would not recommend the Gastroenterology Department at IU Arnett. Been to 3 Gastroenterology doctors and could not diagnose me. The first doctor missed up my diabetes. Did not return phone calls. Still fight with bill. They transferred to Indianapolis and that doctor told me dont ever let Arnett touch me again. Need to refund me all money from these doctors. The services offered at IU Arnett Gastroenterology Department are bad news. The doctor at Indianapolis treated me far better.

The next closest thing to a prison. The treat you like they are suppose to, a metric. They do not care about your well being. They only care about hitting metrics. Tests after tests to get it could be this or it might be this. They do whatever test and procedure it takes to get the most from your insurance.Visitors, forget about that. I was profiled right at the front desk and told I could not visit my family member. Absolutely find other means of care for your loved ones and go somewhere else. I am contacting an attorney to see what can be done not only for the mistreatment of my family member but getting singled out and profiled. Big mistake IU Arnett.

Who ever the light skin girl with the tattoos that work front desk in the er on 7/30/2021 need to be fired or go take her nursing test again cause she obviously don’t know what she’s doing or she doesn’t want to work, either way she is very unprofessional, calling people names that wasn’t even next on the list. She was very disrespectful to the patients who came and asked her questions about seeing the doctor everyone was there two plus hours and she replied “we’ll get to you when we get to you” there was literally a little girl there with a broken arm and they had the poor baby sitting there for hours, to avoid a argument that would’ve clearly happened people got up and left smh ARNETT DO BETTER! We arrived at 6:00pm with my husband having chest pains and tightness of chest, waiting room had about 20 people ahead of us... It was NOT ranked on the importance or severity of the problem but first come first serve.. While waiting there was an older gentleman obviously in pain is having to sit and wait his turn as the next person yet you could hear and tell he was in pain... We waited 3.5 hours finally got called back did blood work, asked that he give a urine specimen which they NEVER took out of the room while we were there... the information board still had the information on it from 5/8 we were there 5/10, handed my husband a remote to a TV that didn’t work. Did x rays, ran EKG and found nothing thankfully but again once being called back we were there another 3 hours... for what my husband had done it shouldn’t of taken 6 hours... we drove 45 mins to this hospital bc we live in podunk and felt better about getting results from this hospital...

Special thanks to Dr. Kalmbach, RN Jamie, RN Jenna, Abey, Courtney, Cindy, RN Gwyn, Dana, Susannah, Elizabeth, Brandt, RN Kristina, Lisa, RN Susan, RN Jen, Brad, Justin, and Sabrina, the teenage RN witch. 🙂Only downside: Starbucks stole my money. Doesnt matter who you call, talk to, complain to, inform blah, blah. IU does them, then when the bill comes, ITS ALL ON YOU!! Labs that is. Because, you agree to pay what insurance does not, when you sign off going in. And no!! They wont fix it - Just send you to collections. I wouldnt be wasting all my time writing this if I hadnt spent 3OX this amount of time on the phone with their billing department.

I would like a new protocol for the ER during this pandemic. If you are a frontline worker, you should AUTOMATICALLY test that person for covid! Frontline workers are exposed daily, the least your ER department can do is test them. You can run every other test, whats one more? It might just help get patient the right treatment.

Of course at this point they had a doctor ( hospitalist) and a nurse asking for another 1/2 hour ( they had just told me that the Dr. In charge of my procedure wouldnt be available for 1 hour) no thanks thats the same story Id been given all day.Overall I think the Doctors. Here are over scheduled and the nurses are to busy on there cell phones to give decent care. Also they seem to think its better to tell you what they think you want to hear instead of the truth.

I believe this hospital cares much more about appearances than actual patient care. If you have a choice ALWAYS CHOOSE ST E. You will talk to a real person quickly from the actual intended office and get seen much sooner. Calling over and over again to only speak to scheduling then being on hold for 40 minutes and calling three times is ridiculous to me. I never got ahold of anyone in the actual doctor’s office. This has happened multiple times. They’re foot at covering things up and putting Riley on their door, but can’t compare with them.

I was going to IU Health until I had a kidney stone attack one morning driving to work. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, and the hospital didn’t help. As I fell in pain on the emergency room lobby desk, the male secretary check-in person didn’t even look up. After giving my information in agonizing pain, I fell to the floor. Another nurse came around in a wheelchair, did they take me back to a room? No, they sat me in an empty lobby at 7:30 in the morning and handed me a barff bag. It was after 20 minutes of in and out of consciousness that I started throwing up because of the pain. At the risk of them having to clean up a mess potentially, this got their attention, and I was in a room that “just opened up” within seconds. Because it was in the morning, and I had just used the restroom before leaving my house, and I was unable to take a drug test. You see, they thought I was going through some type of drug withdrawal. So….I had to suffer for 45 min with side wrenching pain, drinking water to take a drug test before they would administer any pain relief. The pain was so bad I couldn’t hold still for any medical scan to see if I was telling the truth. I guess the rude, inconvenienced, and incompetent doctor didn’t know the difference between drug withdrawal symptoms and a stone ripping through someone’s organ. I was treated like a criminal drug attic by the check-in guy in the lobby and by the doctor. The nurses during the whole disaster handled it all with class. The check-in guy, the punk teenager of a doctor, and the stupid hospital’s policy are the reason why I refuse to set foot in that hospital again. I go to Franciscan Health now, and it turns out that they are a lot less expensive, a lot less! I can’t believe the difference in price! Plus, they seem friendly and attentive.

My wife and I LOVE the IU Health system in Lafayette. AVOID St. Elizabeth. PLEASE trust us on this one. She went to St. Elizabeth for 6+ months for one issue: her gallbladder. After excruciating pain, lazy doctors, several months and delayed tests, we were fed-up and went to IU. We showed IU the scans, and within 2 weeks had an appointment to get her gallbladder removed. She feels better than she has in years. Her gallbladder was sent to a lab for testing. We just got the call back from the lab -- her gallbladder was chronically inflamed, cellular changes were present (that could have lead to cancer), and the gallstones had been there for years. The size of the gallbladder indicated it could have ruptured at any time. Thanks to IU and their awesome staff, my wife is pain-free. We also had our children at the IU hospital and have nothing but amazing things to say about their staff and mother-baby unit. The birthing rooms are very large, private, and comfortable. Side note: my wife is a nurse and has seen the other side of St. Elizabeth as well. While she hasnt worked for the IU system, her experiences with St. Elizabeth as a nurse confirm her experiences as a patient. TRUST US. DONT GO TO ST. ELIZABETH. Go to IU.

Because my O2 sat was 94 and my BP 98/66 they determined that I should go back to the waiting room and wait for them to treat 22 other people before I can be seen by the DR. Although I could barely breathe. So my wife called 911 and ask if they could transport me to Franciscan but they took over 20 mins to get there and once they got there the VERY RUDE EMT told me that I had to stay and be seen by the ER staff at IU Arnett. So my wife took me to Franciscan Hospital and they immediately took me to the back and Dr. Marino and the wonderful staff worked on me until my breathing was restored. Had I waited much longer I would have been intubated. Dr. Amanda Williams at IU HEALTH never even came to look at me to see how much distress I was in. Just because my O2 sat was 94 doesnt mean I wasnt in distress. People with COPD can have those type of O2sats and still be in distress. GET IT TOGETHER IU ARNETT I COULD HAVE DIED IN YOUR CARE!!! I came with her and watched as they treated her with poor bedside manner and told her things they were going to do to her, even though the dr never said any of that was going to happen. My daughter told them she had the right to refuse and the nurse told her that another hospital would do the same thing. They gave her tributaline to stop her contractions which made her heart race. Then the nurse said that they would give her procardia and magnesium which both also speed up your heart. I think this particular hospital is nothing more than a money pit. They have lost my entire families faith in them after I witnessed how my daughter was treated. The representative also called and screamed at my daughter when she found the nurse that denied her of her rights and messages her about it. Horrible place wouldnt take my worst enemy there. Im a victim of malpratice from this facility they are very unprofessional. medication was administered to me by a student and the nurse Jen in labor and delivery later told me it would make my heart race and me feel shaky. It also made me feel like ideas gonna puke. I did not like how this medication effected me. Jen was quick to tell me what would happen to my baby if he was born early but did not once mention the long term lasting side effects that it would/ could have on my unborn son which was very upsetting. One in which is neurological dysfunction. My job as his mommy is to protect him and she completely stripped me of that right. My right to refuse was completely ignored by her. I was so upset and not feeling well evwn the next day and was terrified of what she had just done to my baby and i called the hospital several times but kept being told us have to wait until Monday. That doesnt work for me so I found the nurse that treated me so horribly and messaged her on facebook explaining my frustration with out cussing her and asked for an apology. The hospital abdicate whom is suppose to represent the hospital called me SCREAMING at me that was stalking and made it clear I would not be getting an apology for the malpratice. If jen would have done her job properly I would have no reason to be upset and if the hospital represents would have calmly asked me to drop it i would have until Monday but now I have even more reason for a lawsuit. The hospital saying they will pray for my baby and I was very insulting and upsetting i dont believe in the power of prayer and it only made me feel like theu did something serious to my unborn son. My nephew is admitted with Acute AP under Dr. Normalan. I am a Pulmonary Critical Care specialist in N. J. My attempts to get information about my nephew from Dr. Normalan was wasted under the stupid umbrella of HIPA. Dr. Nirmalan was extremely impolite and unprofessional because I called him at 11:00 pm and he was worried about his sleep because he is a general surgeon on call tonight. Dr. Vinod Sinha

We had our first-born daughter at IU. The nurses were all very helpful with the process. Would definitely recommend them to everyone!

Do not go to this hospital unless you are literally dying and have no choice. Rudest nurses in the world working in the ER. Poor bedside manner, rude, ignorant - I have never in my life seen such a lack of compassion for people demonstrated by medical personnel.

Went in last night 1/2/17 with pain on one side of head running down my neck and left arm...they took my blood pressure it was 154/105..they told me to go and wait in the waiting room..we set there a long time ..there was 4 people ahead of me ..Im not sure what condition they was in but with my blood pressure so high you would think I would be seen...fineally the pain got worse and I got upset and started leaveing ...the RN out front asked if I was leaveing I said yes your not doing anything for me my blood pressure is through the roof and Im in pain...I figure I could be this way at home at least if I do fineally go down I have a better chance getting help from an ambulance personal then you people.. I went home took an asprine and today still hurt ...ALL I CAN SAY IS YOU NEED TO RETHINK YOUR EMERGENCY RESPONSE. ..ALSO I BETTER NOT GET BILLED FOR JUST SETTING IN THE DAMN WAITING ROOM AND NOT GETTING THE HELP I NEEDED ...

I was passing through the area while working and ended up in the er due to the severe pain I was having in my neck from herniated discs, pinched nerves, and metal hardware in my neck and the medication I was given called tramadol didnt touch the pain, and I had a bad reaction to it which also made my pain increase. I ended up back in the er later that day,saw the same doctor, who wanted to give me the same medication through an IV and run blood work because he was insistent I had an infection running through me. COME ON!!!! where do you get infection from my symptoms?????!!!!!!!! Needless to say they also knew I had no insurance to pay for these tests and IV!!!! Just wanted to run me up a huge bill because I wasnt a local probably. In the end I ended up walking out in twice as much pain as I started out having a bad reaction and had to go to a different er to get the help I needed. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone!!!!!!!!!! It sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my wife came in to literally get a stuck ring cut off this place is the biggest waste of time and energy I’ve ever seen it’s like they just wonder around aimlessly like they are lost then almost as if they forgot your here ask “oh you still doing ok?” me and my wife have been here for 2 hours have had 4 people come and and talk and ask for info and everything other than to cut the ring off this place is far from busy it’s dead quite and there are maybe 2-3 other people back here with minor issues this staff is a joke if I was dying I would crawl to the next town over before I’d come back here

Brought my sister into the ER...we waited 3 plus hours to get her in to a bed to be examined, totally unacceptable in my opinion and this was on a tuesday night, I would hate to try this on a weekend night...I thought about just leaving but sis was just to sick, ridiculous and unacceptable!

I went in for a routine tubal ligation. The billing was messed up, they admitted it was wrong. Months many phone calls and emails later the billing was still not corrected. Would have been 100% covered, I ended up billed for 5800+ before insurance picked up. They billed me for illness.
