I was scheduled for next week but I called and they were able to fit me in today :-) Absolutely love Karina in the back, she is so so sweet. I’ve also had Edgar assist in the past, they our both Phenomenal. This new Dentist Dr. Rice I really like her, I do hope she stays. The young lady who did my cleaning I believe Ms. Joy ( sorry if it’s wrong) she was super nice and great. Sometimes change is good and the new front office staff our more friendly and sweet, very pleasant. Thanks Guys/Gals.

My first time going to this place. I had a 12:00 o’clock appointment today 11/6/19. I arrived at the office at 11:25 a.m. The door was locked. The Receptionist, unlock the door, and I went in, to only be told that the Dentist, had call and said he wouldn’t be in. I asked, “ Why I didn’t get a call that they was canceling my appointment. Then I told them I would find a better place where they are more professional with placing calls to the patients when the dentist is not coming in. NEVER WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST OFFICE !!!!!!!!!

THIS WAS ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE.They will say We called your insurance company and you owe so much for this service Then they will send you a bill for even more money! A SIMPLE CLEANING WENT FROM $80 TO $380! I called 6 times to please stop sending me bills. They agreed to remove the charges and never did. Then they hurt my credit score when they filed for collections. They said that would be removed also, but its still there a year later! I called three more times, went down in person, and its still on my credit. At this point I refuse to pay over the principal of the thing. Because they do it to other people too. I was looking for a new dentist, and this one was convenient to where I live. It’s under a 24hr Fitness which creates some banging noises, but that doesn’t bother me. It is an older building and could probably use some updating but the people here are AWESOME! Honestly, the friendly atmosphere is what has kept me coming back. Edgar is so friendly, it really helps time pass since this office is busy, there’s some wait time between tasks/procedures. I love the team moral and everyone’s helping hand to get you in and out with the best service possible. Dr. Rice helped me at my most recent visit and she is such a sweetheart and their new dental hygienist (forgive me I cannot remember her name) she was wonderful! So thorough.

Heres a update 4 years ago a filling came out the recommendation a crown. Now I had to get a root canal and a crown because they are butchers. Dont go to this place...ill update the names of the two worthless a holes tomorrow. The female was getting mad because the crown didnt fit right and she had to grind away at my other tooth. Its on now.

Had an awesome experience at this facility. The people that worked there were very welcoming, fun, and educational. RDA Edgar , RDA KarinA, Dr. Fern , Lisa office manager Beatrice Assistant manager couldnt be any nicer. Such awesome personalities! I highly recommend this dental office for sure.😊

Be careful they ripe off people and charge things that wasnt done.. They charged my spouse a BONE REPLACEMENT GRAFT WHICH CHARGED $399 WHICH THEY DIDNT DO.... Loved everything about the oral surgery team! I was in pain a week before Christmas & they got me in. The doctor and staff were caring and super supportive. By far the best dental experience Ive ever had!

The appointment was at 2:30. Got there a few minutes late because of road construction in the area. Was furthered delayed because a lack of parking at this facility. At 3:00 still hadnt been called and when asked about it was told they were running behind; a routine occurrence at this facility by my experience. This appointment was a rescheduling because they called a day or 2 before the previous appointment and cancelled; they have cancelled on the day of appointments in the past. Because of a sports commitment, needed to reschedule; next appointment is 3 weeks out; sooner than the 4 weeks I experienced previously.

Very friendly, fast and efficient staff. Attended this dentist for years and its nice to see the advancements they have included to ensure the best customer service. Highly recommend!

I brought my 6 year old for a cleaning and check up. The staff was friendly so Im giving them 1 star. The two reasons I will never return: 1. The office is dated and FILTHY. Peeling wallpaper, broken tiles, dusty, and unknown dried liquids on the floor - I assume it was blood. The technology they were using is old too.2. Even though they did X-rays, they didnt mention a big problem that I know he has. I dont think they caught it. But the most infuriating thing was that they wanted to have my 6 year old be looked at by their orthodontist for an estimate on braces. He only has 2 adult teeth! Really?!! Im guessing the dentists work off commission.At the end of my appointment, they wanted me to write an online review while I was still in the office. I couldnt believe it. They were polite and patient, but that is not the only thing we need for dental health. Needless to say, I will not be returning.

This place doesnt deserve any star at all! They are completely moron, the Front Desk, the Dentist or their whole system if they are the same as a year ago.I paid $25 copay for my 5 years old for a cleaning ( I didnt have to pay with any other dentists with the same exact ins.coverage.)Dentist at this place had my son opened his mouth, looked through a little and said Ok, we are done. I asked, dont you brush or put some Fluoride? ( which these used to be done on my son when he was 3 yr old w/out extra charge w/ other dentist.) They responded well you need to pay $56 extra for that to be done. I thought it was a little fishy, but oh well we were already there, just get it out of the way.A year later, there is a collection claim on my husband credit report saying we owe SmileCare $74. Weve never been notified about any bill we owe from this dentist what so ever.My advice to you is STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Theyre crazy creepy people alive in town.

They are amazing if there are typos in this its cuz my face is numb and I am talk to texting. I have wicked bad anxiety and they make me feel happy. Dr. Rice is absolutely phenomenal Im so stoked that shes my dentist, she makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Wicked bad needle anxiety and they held my hands like the little girl baby I am (33 yrs old)! I have a 4 year old son and have changed his dentist from there to this facility because theyre so amazing.

UPDATE: the people that left 5 star review are obviously fakes written by people at the company.I wish I could give them zeros stars. They ruined my teeth and my bite and Ive been having headaches ever since.DO NOT go here unless you want to be diagnosed with 10 cavities and 10 unnecessary fillings. My teeth are ruined for the rest of my life.The doctor drilled for a few seconds on each tooth then didnt put enough filling in. My teeth dont touch anymore. Shes a scammer and just wants your insurance money.Like a person said earlier, RUN dont WALK away from this place. A horrible human being who deserves to be sued!

I had a HORRENDOUS experience with these people!!! I needed all my teeth extracted and dentures. Finally found an oral Surgeon who accepted medical....horror story THERE!!! The dentist I first saw was GREAT. Had my dentures made. After surgery, they couldnt put in the bottom teeth because they didnt fit. By the time I came back to Smile Carey, they had sold the practice. They were now only open 2.5 days a week. I needed a refit...they pour goop into the denture and SLOWLY file the high spots. The woman spoke VERY little English and instead of answering my questions she just kept saying the few words LOUDER. There is MUCH MORE...but suffice to say the work she did was HORRIBLE. I never DID get the faulty bottom plate back and have to use a TON of glue to keep the top ones in! A second full set is VERY expensive and Im retired and on a fixed income. Which means Im SCREWED.

There was very good staff and they took great care of us! I highly recommend coming to smile care for dental care!

RUN AWAY!!! These people are not here to help you. All they do is jack up their schedule and tell you “that’s the way it is here”. Then the office staff blames Dr. Wepsic for it being this way. Granted the man exhibits poor time management by arriving late and fiddling around the office but the office staff is just as careless and dispassionate. I arrived on time for my appt on dec 18th, signed in (no one up front when I came in), sat down and watched 2 women appear and reappear behind the front desk for the next 45 mins. They never greeted me, they never checked the clipboard, and when one of them finally looked out at the waiting room and saw me there she asked the other girl what was going on with me and her response was a shoulder shrug! At that point I decided to say something. Then I was told they’d take me in 10 mins. I waited 25 and decided to tell them i was leaving. My appt was at 12:30 and it’s now 1:30. A root canal takes at least 2 hrs and I have a schedule to keep after this appt. the only response was that they would call me to reschedule once the dr had his schedule. Well, she said that last time and I never received a phone call. Now, I’ve called them 4 times in the past 2 weeks to reschedule my appt and left 3 messages which were never returned. This time they answered and all she could say was “huh, weird. He’s only here twice a month. And this is how it is here” I argued their poor time management and lack of patient care. Her response...” you can’t have your dentist refer you somewhere else?” Mind you I’m saying “she” because they don’t give their names here.Don’t waste your time with these people!!!!! Unless you like being treated like you’re insignificant and enjoy suffering.

The staff had an amazing combination of courage and compassion, strength and sensitivity. Extremely skilled, best X-rays ever !!

They rescheduled my cleaning grom Jan 18th to the 25th and 1 day before my 25th appt they send me a text stating its been rescheduled again. Im not wasting my time, I found a more reliable dentist....i advise you do the same.

I didnt go there but scheduled an appointment 4 years ago,and then canceled it. and now after 4 years they sent me to a collection!!!! Why, oh WHY didnt I come on here before taking my kid to this horrible place?! Its easily the least professional experience Ive ever had. As of this review, I have left five unreturned messages. I even stopped in once (which is hard with my work schedule) and the person who I needed to speak to about billing was at lunch. I was promised a call back. Guess what...nothing. They are charging us for the portion that was supposedly covered by and approved by our insurance. To make matters worse, my kids new dentist questioned most of the work they did saying that it wasnt all necessary. So now Im 90 days late on a bill I shouldnt owe, but no one will explain why this portion wasnt covered by insurance. I already paid my portion (over $500) on the day of the procedures because that was the portion I was told was my responsibility. Now Im being blind-sided by another $500 in bills! Save yourself the grief and NEVER patronize this business. There are too many dental practices out there, so dont go to this one. I regret it immensely. UPDATE: Finally got them to talk to me by going into the office when it opened. Was told that the insurance wouldnt pay for the spacers my son got. WHAT?!?! He never got any spacers!!!! So essentially they revealed themselves to me as insurance fraudsters by trying to bill for services not performed. Please people, PLEASE...dont go here. Yes, they have assured me that I will no longer get any bills now, but I dont believe them. Im sure there will be more updates as this saga continues. Refer to consumer advocates and other review sites...the pattern is clear.

The reviews about this place are true, this dentist office has the worst quality of services and they attempt to scam as much money out of their customers as possible. My wife went there to have a cleaning done and the dentist stopped half way through the cleaning because it was closing time. I mean really, youre that lazy that you cant just take the extra 30 minutes to finish up!?!? They charged us for the cleaning and the initial exam without even involving our dental insurance and now we are getting an additional bill for services that we did not even utilize because we told them we are not coming back! They wanted to charge in excess of $10K for dental work in total, and it seems like they did not even bother to see how much our insurance would cover. We went to a different dentist and got quoted for the same work for more than half the price. Do not use this place at all, they are in the business of taking advantage of people and stealing money while providing incredibly poor services.

My experience at this office was very disapointing to say the least. My first time there was the beginning of march,2018. I got an email reminding me of my apointment. That was good. My first apointment they took exrays. Then i needed to wait 3-4 weeks for ins to ok my dental work. I called at 3 weeks. The receptionist said she would call as soon as she got it. I waited 2 more weeks. I then called my ins to see if they sent the verification letter. They had sent it 4 days prior. I then call the dentist office,i told then i talked to my ins. Company. They had approved my dental work. So the reception checked my file and yes they had recieved it. But there was a problem. My insrance approved my dentures, but only a couple teeth to be pulled. There were nothing said about a couple other teeth to be pulled. The girl in the office said she would call them to see the reason why. She assured me she would call me back that day or the next. I waited 2 weeks, no call. I then called my insurance myself again. They said I didnt need verification for the other teeth. They just needed to send in the bill. They said it was explained in their letter they mailed to them. I them call the dentist office told them what they said. So the receptionist told me she will see who is going to pull my teeth and she would call me right back. That was 2 weeks ago today, still no call. I am so disapointed with this office. I have a really hard time at dentists offices. They didnt help with their lack of professionalism. I dont even care to go back there. It makes me doubt the dentists ability to do good work. Now back to looking for a new dentist, with consideration and perfessional work ethics for their patients. What a disapointment. August 2018.

This place is the WORST! Had to wait an hour while they tried to get a referral from a dentist I had seen 3 days before who did me the courtesy of finding an endodontist on the web after determining I needed a root canal. They either would not or could not give me any idea at all of the cost of the procedure - either on the phone or in person and the receptionist was CLUELESS. Do NOT go here unless you like to abuse yourself and appreciate inefficiency and rudeness.

They take 3 weeks to get a crown made, which is unheard of- you shouldnt have to wait more than a week. Dr. Vakil and Edgar are the 2 most professional, most polite and courteous dentist and dental assistant I have ever met and had fix my dental issues. Please come see them for ALL your dental care. Ignore the other low star reviews because they are not true. My wife is a Physician Assistant at a Hospital and she even says theyre the best shes been around excluding her Uncle, whom which is also a dentist. 😀 Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH Dr. Vakil and Edgar!! You 2 are AWESOME!!!There is a MAJOR down side....to be continued...does not include Dr. Vakil or Edgar.

If I could give this shady place ZERO stars I would! The absolute worst. DO NOT take yourself or your children here.Last Feb, 2015 I had extensive work done on my seven year old. He had to have teeth pulled, crowns, etc. We had Medi-cal at the time and went to this provider without reading reviews. Unfortunately, were paying for that mistake now.They billed Medi-cal and authorized with them what work had to be done and what we as the patient had to pay that they would not cover. We paid 525$ outta pocket for work. Little did we know we would be gettting ANOTHER bill in the mail for $500+ for WHO KNOWS what. I tried calling them to ask what this bill was for weekly. Left 3-4 voicemails, with no return call back. We kept receiving this bill every month without a resolution. Today, my Husband went straight into their La Mesa office (where he had his work done) demanding why they were billing us.The receptionist was defensive and wasnt sure what she could do for us and had to speak with the Doctor. Well, once she found out we had Medi-cal her demeanor instantly changed. Oh.. legally we cannot bill you for something Medi-cal didnt authorize so well take care of this. SMILECARE was trying to bill us for work that was NEVER preformed on my sons mouth. She claimed the bill they were sending us was for spacers put in that Medi-cal didnt cover... my son did NOT have spacers put in and SmileCare was trying to pull a fast one and fraudulently get more money out of us for work never performed. I couldnt believe it!Obviously there is something shady going on here and theyve been caught RED HANDED. Because like she said, they cant legally bill you for something Medi-cal doesnt cover. SmileCare was trying to add on extra charges for work that was never done. She even said well maybe they fell out. - NO there were never spacers put in and we should have never been billed for such charges.Do NOT go here! FRAUDSTERS!

I liked at first,but yesterday i went in for a routine cleaning the girl that helped me was new. Right away she started poking around on my gums, next thing i know she tells me my gums are bleeding and iam going to need some special kind of cleaning and it going to cost $230.00 instead of the normal $35.00 but i figured she knew what was right for me, so i sai go ahead,however after she finished.the only thing differant she had done was squirted some junk inside gums,probably going to start looking fo a new dentist.

Well, loved it is a bit overstating it since it IS the dentist, but definitely would give them 5 stars.When I started the process of looking for a dentist, there werent that many showing up who took my insurance and I wasnt all that interested in driving too far outside my geography. This year, more dentists were added, so I started the lengthy process of looking for a dentist who had the least worst review since there were no good reviews. And really, who wants to choose a dentist based on that, but I did.When I set up my initial appointment, I had a three week wait to get in. Okay, not a big deal, I had gone years avoiding the dentist because of a really bad experience with a wallet gouger. When I arrived, after having read all the reviews, I was prepared for the worst.Oh boy was I in for a surprise.Granted, going to the dentist is not a fun experience for me and given how long I waited, I received a lengthy list of problems that needed to be resolved including a deep cleaning, two cavities, two crowns, and a night guard. As Im reeling from the prognosis, Im handed the estimated costs, which had me choking. The finance person offered to see if I qualified for Care Credit. I didnt think I would. She offered to try. Holy cow, I was approved! On top of that, they said they could start the process that day, when I was merely expecting to be evaluated and then brought back later (see comment above about last dentist). Now, in reading other reviews as well as some news piece about a lawsuit, understand that she went over everything with me, including the costs for each treatment, what was covered by my insurance, what would be out of pocket, everything. I knew what I was getting into when I signed up for the care card.Now I have a chronic condition that does make pain tolerance difficult. I was impressed when the dentist told me that she worked with patients like me and they would go at my pace, not theirs. And given that I was fully numbed, I let them have free rein and we went for it. As in all of it. Full deep cleaning of the entire mouth (no pussy footing around quadrants at a time), two cavities filled and temporary crowns placed with an appointment for the permanent ones.I was impressed with the team environment and how well everyone worked together. Okay, admittedly there are some negatives. The view in some of the stations isn’t quite as good as they could be. Given the amount of time I’ve spent in some of the chairs, it would be nice if they upgraded the chairs to include back massagers. Their taste in music is very similar to mine and I was at risk of hurting myself every time I found myself tapping my feet to the music while someone had his or her hands in my mouth with grinding, whirring, buzzing sounds. And the worst of them all, they’re human and prone to bad days too. And while I did get a bit of a “tone” when I called this morning as I was admonished for not cancelling/changing my appointment 24 hours in advance, I had an emergent situation come up this morning that prevented me from going and I was at a loss as to what to do. So, thank you for being so accommodating. Really.

Would never recommend any one to this so called dental office. Bad in every way, clinic equipments are old and dirty, dentist that my family saw was confused and not given enough information about my doughters teeth because new ones came out old ones were wiggling and needed to be removed. They said theyre going to set another appointment to pull out two teeth but they never did. Theyre unprofessional and California consumer affairs needs to check this places hygiene and authenciy.

I went there with my mother so she could get her teeth cleaned the receptionists were rude and so was the doctor my mom went back at the begining of june to get a bridge done and has been having discomfort with it ever since and had to pay 5 grand for the procedure and while they were doing the bridge she was wincing in pain even though they numbed her mouth she could feel it and the doctor says to her would you like to reschedule because your making faces please do not go to this place
