My 92 year old mom has been through the entire Avamere system...from Independent, Assisted, and now Memory care. Her needs were much greater than Assisted Living was designed to accommodate, so we moved her to The Arbor for memory care. This was the best thing for her and she is thriving in the Arbor community. We are grateful to Becky and all at Assisted Living for recognizing moms real needs. The transition has been wonderful and the Arbor staff, as well as all others, are wonderful. She is in very good hands. Thanks to all!! -The Suing Family

I would not recommend this facility to anyone. Especially for someone who is handicapped as well as having a memory problem. To many people fall there and resulting in death for 2 that I know of. They do not have enough care givers on floor resulting in very questionable care many times. They have the largest turnover of help I’ve seen in the last 10 years of my mother being in and out of different facilities. They said the could accommodate her with her special needs and handy caps. When in actuality they are not set up for handy cap residents. Wheel chairs do not go under dining tables or the bathroom sinks. The bathroom is not set at all., the soap dispensers as well the paper towel holders are so a high that frail or wheelchair bound can no way reach themThen the food is especially worrisome . I have taken pictures of it because a picture is worth a thousand words. They serve a spot of food which is less than most kids eat. And i s not healthy most of the time. This is just the tip of the iceberg. So again I’ll say I do not recommend this facility

Having seen The Arbor grow from a blueprint to an actual facility, I am consistently impressed by the quality of its environment and the compassion of its staff. My company provided a dementia workshop for The Arbor when the building was just opening, and I cant overstate the inquisitiveness and excitement shown by administrative staff as well as caregivers. They are eager to stay on the cutting edge of memory care and Im glad to have them in my community.

UPDATE September 2021 - during the covid-19 pandemic, The Arbor has been amazing. Due to safety regulations, I didnt get to see my mom for a year, but I dont think a single resident had a positive covid test. I am so grateful and feel so lucky my mom has been safe. I dont know current vaccination rates among staff or residents, but staff mask (and now face shield) use is 100%.Original review:There’s no perfect place for a loved one, but for us, The Arbor is as close as we could’ve found. I was worried about my loved one’s response to a memory care community but I think they mainly just felt safe. And continues to feel happy. The food smells great, haven’t had a meal myself. There seems to be some staff turnover, but I feel it is pretty seamless. The rooms and public spaces are clean. We’re happy! We’re safe! Thank you!

My mom was scared to move to a community, but I have to say moving her here was the best decision we ever made! The staff is wonderful, the Executive Director really cares about her residents, and has a real passion for memory care.As my family and I go through this difficult time, we have felt a true caring for my mom by all at The Arbor!

The facility is very nice and clean. We liked that our mom didnt have to share a room. The care for our mom was good for the most part. Some staff was better than others. Our main issue with this facility was dealing with the administrator. She is terrified of getting fines for residents that have what she calls behavioral issues. Our mom is getting to the later stages of dementia and obviously has no control over her behavior, however, she is not violent. Even a slight tap on the hand was considered an incident. The administrator pushed us to put her on antipsychotic and mood stabilizing medications. We were not happy with this decision from the start. Come to find out, the administrator was pushing the doctor to up these medications and our mom became like a zombie, which was our biggest fear of these meds. Our mom started refusing almost all of her meals and lost weight and we were on the verge of hospice. As all this was happening, the administrator evicted our mom. The doctor called me and said she told the administrator she could no longer ethically prescribe these meds for our mom as she feared this was causing her loss of appetite. We moved her back to her original memory care facility and now that she is off those horrible meds, her sweet personality is back and she is eating again and has now gained back 7 pounds. If your loved one doesnt have any agitation, then this facility will probably be fine for them, but be aware if there are any behavior issues that pop up, they like to push for heavy medicating to avoid incidents or you will face eviction.

Nice facility, clean and well maintained. The staff cares about the residents, which was shown from the first moment I met the Marketing Director.
