Dealing with some pretty rough stuff so I tried getting an appointment here to get some help. The day before my first appointment I get a call that Dr. Shumate is no longer coming in tomorrow so Id have to reschedule. To someone seeking help, that was pretty hard to take. I was excited to finally get some relief and now I had to wait again. Anyway, I rescheduled for a day over half a month later, now more than a month from the day I first called to get an appointment, just to be called AGAIN again about an hour before my appointment and be told that Id have to reschedule because this guy wasnt coming in again. I was told the rest of the month was booked up and Id have to wait untill he had an opening again which would be sometime next month which is AT LEAST two more weeks away. I said forget it. This is extremely unreliable and unprofessional. I would STRONGLY advise you NOT go here if youre dealing with anything crucial like I am. Go anywhere else. Im sure theres plenty of other practices around Jacksonville or even outside Jacksonville that would be much more reliable. It doesnt matter how good or bad this guy is if you cant even get in to see him so please bypass the reviews talking about his good credibility and realize theres a likely chance youll have to reschedule and wont ever even be able to get in to see it for yourself. Or think Oh, this isnt likely to happen to me, and take the chance thinking youll get in, call, make an appointment, and then be let down to. But Id just be safe and try somewhere else.

He listens to whats going on with you. He makes sure you have an understanding off your health and well being. Ive not noticed him or his staff belittle or make you feel less of a human being. Always kind words and giving you a feeling off being important.Great man and doctor along with good staff support as well.

Rushed my appointment. Didnt order the blood work for what was the main reason I went for. Just didnt feel like he cared or could be bothered to actually talk to me. Stood the whole time and felt like he was just waiting for the first chance to bolt out the door

Today was my first visit and I think I might have hit the jackpot! Ive spent the last several years looking for a competent primary care physician I feel totally at ease with. Dr. Shumate was highly recommended by a friends daughter and subsequent reviews of Dr.Shumate I found online were outstanding.I had my first visit today and Im thrilled. Dr. Shumate radiates competence, an unusual thoroughness, and a manner that instantly put me at ease. Despite being in great demand and operating on a packed schedule, Dr. Shumate was completely unhurried and relaxed. He asked a lot of all the right questions and listened intently to my answers.I realize its only a first visit, but it was an exceptional experience.

Dr. James Shumate is the best PCM doctor I’ve had over the years. He’s very understanding of my medical conditions. He listens. Very informative. Easy going. Professional and friendly bed side manners. He’s a top notch doctor, but also a top notch human being. He’s the only doctor I trust with my overall care.
