Dr. Amanda Kovacs was one of the best eye exam Drs I have ever been to. She spent extra time to address my concerns and handled everything in a very professional manner. I would recommend her highly! The optician helped me pick out the cutest frames. I am always getting complements. I love when doctors don’t rush you and give you their undivided attention!

I made sure to take the time out of my day because I had such a wonderful experience. My two daughters had an appointment today and when we arrived 1pm they had a line going out the door, so I thought the wait would be all day considering it’s an eye appointment and no matter what it takes awhile, but I was wrong the whole appointment took less than an hour with picking out glasses. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable, and had a huge selection of glasses. I definitely will be returning and recommending this place of business. Thank you Jacksonville Eye Center.

The team and doctor are wonderful at this practice. They took the time to explain everything to me. At other offices Ive been to, I left feeling like I had many questions unanswered. Dr. Kovacs is truly amazing. I am so impressed!

Reviewing now . . .as I wait. The Eye Center requires patients to arrive on time, as it should. The Center seems to overbook, though. The waiting room is consistently crowded with (on-time) patients waiting for 30+ minutes past appointment times to go to the first appointment rooms, where they wait again. The care is great once patients get inside. More mutual respect for time would bump this review to a five.

If it were not for the professional and friendly service of the Technician, Michelle, and both, the okay service of the female doctor (who did my exam), and the ease of ordering my glasses, I would give this office only one star. That star would be only because they accept my current insurance. My experience today was almost sickening!I have been coming to this office off and on for many years (depending on my insurance and current employment). So, I am used to the long hold times on the phone and long wait times in the waiting room (even though you arrive on time or early to your appointment). (Case and point: My appointment today was at 1:20. I arrived about 1:09 and didnt get called to the back until 2:35).However, today, I was in a good mood. I wanted to offer some constructive feedback to the office manager to, hopefully, improve the flow of things for myself and other patrons of this office.Now, I was a little bothered by the fact that I was on hold with this office for a long time while driving - only to find that when I walked in, the two receptionists were sitting at the desk seemingly doing nothing while my call was on hold. There were no patients at the desk and they were not on the phone. One greeted me as soon as I walked in. I had my cell phone on speaker with the hold music still playing. The other receptionist heard the music and attempted to answer the line. She apologized and said they had a lot of people at the desk. (I looked around and saw only me in the immediate area around their desk).I hung up the phone and, after I checked in, I politely requested to speak to the office manager (again to offer some constructive feedback). I was told she was in a meeting. (The meeting apparently lasted until I was finally called to the back for my exam). The manager greeted me in the back and the technician told her she can use her office to speak with me. I sat down in the technicians office. Although there was another chair, the manager stood directly in front of me close to my face and just looked at me.I started by asking a question, Whats a good hold time on the phone in your opinion? After that, the manager went off in a tirade! I kid you not! She did not let me get a word in! She finally said, And let me say this, you will not come in here and yell at my staff! At that time, I would have normally gone off, but I was truly in a good mood and really needed new glasses. So, I maintained my composure and just read her politely.I told her I never yelled at anyone up there and that she apparently just took whatever they said and ran with it. I said she was acting the most unprofessional of anyone because of how she just went off on me how she can help me, or my issue or even my side of the story. She said, I know the issue. My staff told me its about you being upset about being on hold a long time. I said, Thats not even it and you wouldnt know because you still havent asked me.She said, Well, I was offended because people are interrupting me in a meeting telling me you want to speak with me... I said, Offended? Is that not part of your job? At this point, I was actually upset and asked who her supervisor was, when I really just wanted my eye exam and to get out of there. But, she left and Dr. Schnipper soon came in. He sat down, asked me how he could help, listened to my first 8 or so words, interrupted me, and said (among other things), Look, this is as good as it gets here. If you want Beverly Hills treatment, you are welcomed to go there... 😳 🤯They apparently dont care and dont want to do better as a company. My regret is for trying to help 😒

My grandmother had a 10:30AM appointment today. As I sit in the parking lot it is now 2:30 PM Not a procedure being done but a few tests. It was over 20 patients in waiting room. Grossly overbooked! Bad business practices and no value for the patients/family member time.

I had LASIK here in March 2021 after waiting years to pull the trigger and I am so happy that I did! I was able to completely ditch glasses and contacts that Ive worn since I was 12 years old and Im now seeing better than 20/20! Highly recommend Dr Schnipper and his staff!

Make sure you clear your day. My first appt for daughter we wait 2 hours I got so mad I just reschedule. We went back the next month and waited three hours for her to be seen . The day was my appointment and I really didnt wont to go but I need glasses. I waited 2 hours to be seen and I came 30 mins before the appointment. The Dr is fine but the wait it unbearable

This is hands down the best group of eye doctors in Jax. I see Dr Kovacs but I’ve also had great experiences with Dr Cronin and Dr Schnipper and the care has always been amazing. My wife got LASIK surgery here not long ago and her vision has been perfect every since after years of wearing glasses and contacts.

Eye glasses that I paid extra to have thin lenses for definitely was not thin. I have been wearing eyeglasses since I was a kid and I was told the lenses were cut thin but because of my prescription is the reason for the thickness. Wrong wrong wrong. They say you get what you pay for but I sure didn’t..... I will not go back to use this optical service. Oh yeah, and the glasses were supposed to take three weeks to get ready, took much much longer. Not a satisfied customer!

They are very dysfunctional had an 8:30am appt for my elderly father and it has taken 3 hours for him to be seen! This place is a waste of time especially for those that are taking their parents and have to work regular jobs! Doctors are great but plan to be there all day

I am a health care professional that requires good close up vision. Dr Schnipper did a specular job correcting my vision. I am free of glasses and the surgery was a breeze. Thank you Dr Schnipper! You are marvelous!

My daughter had an appointment scheduled for 2:40, we arrived at 2:30. We patiently sat in the lobby until 3:45. When I asked what was going on the receptionist plainly stated there were 2 other people ahead of me. I had to leave at 4:15 to make another appointment at 5. There was no apology from anyone or any acknowledgment that they had erred.Avoid this place if you have any sense of timeliness, decorum, and professionalism.

Dr. Schnipper was very professional and effective in treating my problem. This practice is popular for a reason. Come prepared to wait. I always bring my phone and something to read. Love the art work on the walls. Grateful to the Schnippers for sharing with the public.

I had my appointment scheduled at 1:30, got there early as required to fill out paperwork. Upon arrival I filled out a Covid form and took my tempture,everyone were spaced put & wearing mask. All the staff & Drs all had mask and they were so nice & polite. The place was very neat & clean. For that I give them 5 stars. My big problem was check-in 1:30 and I wasnt even taken to the back until 3:45. When all was done it was 4:15 when I left. They werent even that busy, I counted 3 before me . when we schedule our appointments we are told to be on time or our appointment would be rescheduledWhat about our time?? For prompt response..they get a 3

I chose Dr. Schnipper because he is the Lasix pioneer in Jax. My cousin Shirley Harris was one of his early Lasix patients and she shot a commercial about her great experience. He & his staff are kind, efficient, courteous and professional!! My surgery went fantastically!!

Had Lasik performed here in December. I now have 20/15 vision and could not be happier! The whole process was easy and they explain absolutely everything about the process so there are no surprises. Dr. Schnipper is wonderful and very professional. You can tell that he is an expert in his field. He also has the most colorful shoes he wears on his Lasik days! I am the third family member to have surgery performed here and would recommend the Jacksonville eye center and Dr. Schnipper to anyone considering Lasik.

My son was seen here and everyone was so kind. Especially mrs Amanda she answered all our questions and was very helpful. This is by far the best visit we had with any eye clinic. Amanda was amazing!!!!!!

My visit to the Eye Center was excellent everyone was friendly and helpful...Dr Schnipper was a hip cool very capable doctor that related to me on a friendly level..I was very impressed with the service and knowledge of this Center I recommend there services.

By far this office is very disorganized. My 72 yr old mother had an appt at 8:30 and was not called in until one hr and a half later. The doctor was not even behind schedule also the staff are all over the place like chickens with no head. Also the waiting area over crowded. Absolutely not recommending this office.

First visit, excellent service. Second visit, disappointed. Was expecting to see an Ophthalmologist since I informed the Optometrist during my first visit of my high risk Glaucoma diagnosis. Fast forward, second visit, two eye exams by a nurse. No eye pressure test and no chance to see a doctor before being dismissed.

Best eye doctor ever!! Nice and friendly staff. Dr. Schnipper is always funny and personable. Dr. Kovacs is awesome too!!

My original review was a couple days after my surgery and was 5 stars everyone was very nice and helpful. The process was painless other than waiting for over an hour everytime we went for an appointment but now my eyes are now worse than they were before my surgery! I paid $4,000 out of pocket for my eyes to be worse than before! I was still nursing my baby when I had my Lasik done. Dr. Schnipper could not figure out why my eyes 2 weeks after the surgery were continuing to get worse. So he thought it might be extreamly dry eyes. So we tried drops, which didnt help. He wanted to give it a couple weeks to see what changes happened and then try another surgery. Fast forward a few weeks we had to move. My husband is military. I saw a Doctor here and they said that you should not have Lasik done until you have stopped nursing for at least 6 months becasue your hormones cause your vision to fluctuate! I was shocked by this and called a few other places just to see if I got the same answer in regards to nursing and Lasik. So yes, no where I called will do Lasik until you have stopped nursing for at least 6 months! Im beyond furious! My new doctor wont even make any decisions on what we are going to be able to do to try to fix it until after Im done nursing! Im so glad we had to move which didnt allow time for Dr. Schnipper to perform another surgery! I cant imagine how bad things would be if we had gone through with a second procedure!

I went in seeing 20/200 (legally blind without my glasses on) and when I came back for my post OP appointment, I was seeing 20/15! Ive had glasses for 22 years and this is the first time in my life I remember seeing clearly! Thanks Doc and Staff! Everyone was so professional and friendly and supportive.

Had lasik done in 2006 fast forward 2020 still perfect vision. Dr. Schnipper is awesome. Hell never forget me. Im the guy that gave him a thankyou gift of some cool blue and black bape sneakers. They were the hottest back then. Lol . You can trust these guys. I have no regrets 14 years later!

My mother had an appointment at 9:30 am wasn’t seen by the doctor until 12:00pm. Appointment times apparently doesn’t means nothing, very disrespectful for patients time. Place is not very clean either

Eye appointment went fine. Came back to pick up my glasses and the lady in charge of glasses (Lisa) was 30 minutes late coming back from lunch. Ive now been waiting here for 2 hours and Im only 4th in line. She hasnt finished with a single person. Ridiculous. And nobody seems to think much of it.

I had a great experience, and best of all my vision is now perfect! Wonderful staff, everyone is very friendly and helpful. I like how every part of the procedure was well explained, they took their time during appointments so I did not feel rushed. I would highly recommend Dr Schnipper and his office.

I have not been able to see since the age of 10. By the time I was forty I had bifocals. My far vision and near vision both were horrible. I have had cataract surgery and then Lasix surgery. For the first time in 46 years I have perfect vision. My vision is now 20/20in both eyes. Thank you Dr. Schnipper you are amazing. I would recommend this surgeon for anyone who wants to see. Been a patient of Dr. Schnipper since Feb 2017. Had my right eye cataract surgery done with him in June 2017. Cant complain with this doctor. He has very nice staffs and hes an amazing doctor & very well experience. I am so glad that hes my eye doctor. Will go back to him soon for my cataract surgery on my left eye this time. Very slow, expect to wait 1-2 hours past your appointment to be seen by the assistant, then another half hour to be seen by Dr. Schnipper. While his expertise is great, your time is worth nothing here.

I couldnt begin to comment on the medical level of care since it never got to that point. My husband arrived a little early for his appointment, and still had to wait nearly an hour before anyone acknowledged that hes been waiting for a long time - and this is only AFTER I called them to say that he was about to walk out of the office. It was only at that point that they let him know that they were running late and there was still one more patient waiting ahead of him (this is after hed been there for nearly an hour, and 45min after his appointment time!).I understand that sometimes an office can be unexpected short-staffed, but it is completely inexcusable for them to allow him to sign in, take his ID and insurance cards, make copies, hand them back to him, and never once inform him that they were running behind or even offer to reschedule the appointment so that hes not left to wait in silence for an hour.If they display this kind of lack of consideration and care before the patient has even been seen by a doctor, I shudder to think of what kind of back-office care they provide. Needless to say, he walked out, and I hope they get it together soon because if you keep treating patients like this, I doubt that youll continue to have patients to serve.

Had Lasik in 1996. Worked great. I just recently had PRK on my right eye it’s healing well and will get better and better every day. Thanks Dr. Schnipper.

I visited Dr. Schnipper in early May, 2015 made arrangements for correctional eye surgery in June and September. I no longer need glasses, not even for reading! I had the Monovision Lasik! Its amazing!!! I was blind as a bat and now I can see everything!!I have waited at least 15 years to have Lasik Eye surgery performed and it WAS WORTH IT!! My experience was unbelievable. The clarity and colors are more than I could have hoped for. I’ve worn glasses and dealt with poor eyesight since age two. Now I don’t wear glasses — wonderful!!!! Terrible! absolutely terrible! That lady that’s in charge of the glasses was EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful! I’ve had to wait 2+ hours to get called when people have been here after me and go in before me! Ridiculous! I’ve asked multiple times why is it taking so long anda it’s always “15 more minuets” or “you’re next” extremely unprofessional.

This office way over books their patients..My mom had and appt at 8am they call her told her to come at 11am .. We got there is no where to park get up to the office there is no where to sit .. they took my mom back at 11.15 said it wod be and hour to hour a half...went up at 12.30 PM to see if she was ready and they inform me that she hasnt had her surgery yet but she was next ... excuses me !!! I ask when we came in if the dr was running behind you told me no !!!so I ask to speak to the office manager and now the office manager terri tells me the dr running behind... unacceptable if I hadnt check on my mom I wouldnt knew because nobody call me to tell me after I left my # with them so now she has another hour an hour half hopefully so she has been back their now for 3hrs and still no word....never used this dr he double and triple books his patients ...and does not tell you that the wait will be longer then expected. . Will be reporting this dr to the medical board .

Dr. Schnipper performed RK surgery on both of my eyes in 1984 resulting in great vision for 30+ years. I had cataract surgery on one eye 3years ago and developed Elschnigs pearls, causing me poor vision in that eye. Dr Schnipper recently cleared that up with a simple surgery and now I have 20/20 in that eye. Thanks Dr. Schnipper and staff!!!! Its always a pleasure to visit Jacksonville Eye Center!

I learnt about Dr Schnipper and the Jax Eye Center through word of mouth and I was not disappointed. Went there for my Lasik surgery and everything went smoothly from the pre-op process to the operation to my post op appointments. I would definitely recommend Dr Schnipper and his team.

By far the best Customer Service I have ever received for Health Care. The whole staff is focused on the patient and making sure their needs are met. I filled out the form on their Website to schedule an appointment for consultation for Cataract surgery. Within 30 minutes I was contacted by Kathy Maloney via email requesting information concerning my situation. Within 15 minutes she said she would have someone call to schedule my appointment. I was contacted within 5 minutes and had an appointment scheduled. I informed Kathy of my scheduled appointment date and time. She responded back that she had already scheduled me for surgeryDuring my 1st vist/apprintment I was even more impressed. Dr Schnlpper has a super bed side manner and makes you feel very comfortable and very easy to talk to. Dr Schlepper and his whole team makes the patient feel that their eye care and quality of life is the most important issue when making decisions on treatment needed. Most of his staff has been part of his team for 20 plus years. To me this speaks volumes about the time of person, leader and Doctor that he is. Highly recommend him and his team to anyone in the Jacksonville area, or Northeast Fl, or Southeast Ga area that needs eye care.

I had LASIK in September 1999 by Dr. Shnipper at 24 years old. I am 42 and still have 20/20 and nk need yet for reading glasses. At that time there were LASIK places popping up everywhere, but they are gone and Dr. Shnipper is still practicing.

Dr. Schnipper performed my first cataract surgery (right eye) in February, 2011. I had an excellent result and when my left eye required cataract surgery in April, 2013, Dr. Schnipper recommended, and I agreed to, monovision (left eye for reading, right eye for distance). I am extremely pleased with the result. I no longer require glasses or contacts, even when driving at night. I would strongly recommend Dr. Schnipper and his excellent staff (very professional and friendly) to anyone.

I was referred to Dr. Schnipper by a coworker and Im very glad I listened. After researching, it was clear that Dr. Schnipper is not only the best in Florida but one of the best corrective vision doctors in the country. He is a pioneer of todays procedures and I have completely trusted him with my eyes. Prior to having PRK, my vision was -8.50 in both eyes and I had worn contacts/glasses for nearly 20 years. PRK is more intensive than LASIK and requires a longer recovery period but I have been extremely happy with the results. Dr. Schnipper is very experienced, professional, and knowledgeable eye doctor!! The PRK procedure that I had went very smoothly, and Dr. Schnipper made sure that I will be satisfied with the results. And the results are amazing!! My vision is perfect now and I am so glad that I chose Dr. Schnipper! He and all his staff in the office were very attentive and friendly. They listened to my concerns and answered all questions. I would recommend Dr. Snchipper and his practice to everyone!!!

Love Dr. Schipper! I just had the lasik surgery done in December and it went fantastic! I got the surgery done the week of finals and was able to see immediately the next day to take my exam. I had three that week and I made As and Bs! The surgery went very well and Dr. Schipper kept me well informed on what to expect. After that first sleep after the surgery you can see!!! It is so great to be able to see all the time! I now have 20-15 vision! Better than 20-20, thanks to Dr. Schipper and his staff. They are such a wonderful group of people that set out to accomplish great things. I will always recommend Dr. Schipper, and his funny shoes!
