By far the worst ER I have ever been to. My wife has a possible perforation in her bladder and it took them 5 hours to get her into imaging. We are still waiting on results. They also are making her wait on a bed in the hallway. And the worst part... she had to take her own catheter out in the hallway.. I would give 0 stars if possible.

While emergency visit is never a good experience, this was just useless visit. none of my issues were addressed. Dr Odufuye said that something like “ you will be fine” and sent me home with sedatives ( so i won’t bug them today again:))) My problem persisted after i got home. Negligence at its best. the only explanation is that they might be rated on hours of patient stay. so they are interested to get rid of you as soon as possible. BTW, i have been to mayo about 5 times, different departments, and my experience was mediocre at best.

The doctors and nurses are top notch I’ll hand them that , but the front desk staff needs to learn manners and compassion. Not only was Hanna rude to us telling my son that pain was not an emergency ( he had a tumor that radiology sent us straight to er , even called down to tell them we were coming after his biopsy) she told a deaf patient that was trying to get her to call her friends to pick her up that if her friends were that concerned about her that they would be there. I was in utter shock and embarrassed For her. As an office manager for a medical group I have to say I’d fire her right then and there . You are dealing with people who are sick and in pain . You need to think of their needs . How would you like someone to speak to you, your parents, grandparents or children that way ?

Fancy ER to avoid! Not-helpful doctors or RNs. Looks like they care how much money they can make out of you and your insurance. Make sure your insurance is going to pay their abnormal bills. More than 11 500 just to check you and no treatment, no room. Think twice and make sure you have someone with you to speak up for you and cut their excessive care. Ask them to do only necessary not to rob you and your insurance.Stay away from Kara Bragg.

I visited during a slow time -and had exceptional care throughout, especially from Dr. Michael Mohseni and Nurse Lisa. They deserve high scores but somebody messed up.Despite good care, one thing really surprised me negatively. My primary physician sent over a 30 page fax with all the tests already conducted and his observations from his attempts to treat me for a week. He confirmed the fax number and then his office called to confirm that Mayo got it. By the time I was seen by an attending there was no record of it at all - nobody could find it (late at night now and - consequently - several tests were unnecessarily repeated keeping me there hours longer than I needed to be.Finally, while all the staff were pleasant. I would certainly have hated to be laying in a hallway - as some were. that would alter my rating.

Strong chemical odor at time of ct scan. Be really careful while getting imaging done at this place, there’s foul play going at this Mayo Clinic on San Pablo road. Life only 1 to go to a # 1 rated clinic to be exposed to radiation with chemicals as well. Staff at ct scan (emergency room)Mayo clinic on San Pablo road admitted that the strong odor comes from sanitation due to corona virus procedures; regardless she was unsure. I hope my friend gets well! We are documenting this for future references. Hoping a speedy recovery to my good friend as hope this is useful for others. We also hope she stays (SAFE) Sincerely T.w

I had a stroke and went to the emergency department at this Mayo Clinic. They kept trying to treat me for a headache. There is a stark difference there. After 3 different nurses and Dr. Michael Albus seeing me, Nurse Kniely came in totally power tripping on me being extremely rude and confrontational. I asked to speak to her supervisor or Dr. Michael Albus. Nurse Kniely went and told Dr. Michael Albus that I had been belligerent with her. Dr. Michael Albus came back into the room not even asking me what had just transpired and told me that I was going to do what Nurse Kniely told me to do or go get treated elsewhere. My wife who was with me and I were shocked at the treatment I received. I know these people have a tough job and stress will wear on you. This was so much more than that. Nurse Kniely is a very insecure person who is seriously lacking empathy. Dr. Michael Albus is easy manipulated by the staff serving under him and needs empathy training as well. To top it all off they both lied in thier reports in my medical record. My wife who was just as shocked as I was can vouch that at no time was I belligerent with Nurse Kniely. Dr. Michael Albus lied and said that he performed examinations on me that he did not perform. Furthermore Dr. Albus stated in my medical record that he offered me treatment that he in fact never offered at all. This goes beyond a lack of empathy and straight to fraudulent and reckless behavior. I expected so much more from Mayo Clinic. My wife and I are deeply disappointed. I cannot speak for the rest of Mayo Clinic. I can however say with utter certainty that if your life truly depends on it, do not go to the emergency department at this Mayo Clinic.

Well. This is simply not a reflection on mayo. I CALLED THE ADVICE NURSE. At mayo and after lexplaing I had been watching my heart rate and pulse ox for.the last week and ut has been sustained over 100. Also fluctuations rapidly from very high to mid range normal. Watching it jump around like crazy. Nit surprisingly I was told I needed to go to the er asap. I was comforted in that moment as a mayo patient with a established mayo patient I d number I knew i was in nit good hands but the best. However things went south fast upon entering a non social distancing er room. 20 mins till triageIf triage is a sad beyond exhausted and clearly muffetled nurse. Trying to do everything around her except triage patients. While saying ya Im listening. And then I was told after a quick one sec snapshot of my vitals. That were 101 in heart rate oulseox 97. I was told all of.the reasons why I did nit need medical attention. I attempted to explain the convo with the advice nurse and how he said he would call ahead and brief them. No she exolained that there are no rooms there no hallways nit full. And I was turned away. I went an urgent care onky to be sent away. They atleast told me.memeriol emergency room is nit hospital affiliated and they would be able.to see me and care for me. My second trip the er there was different than my experience at mayo er. Here they listened. They absorbed what I was saying. Did the ekg and blood work. And as.it turns out I was admitted. So mayo er is full. Do nit waste your time. Donald trump amd gov DeSantis are clearly mass.murders. the concept of the ers being full and the urgent care places cant help with anything urgent. Why. Dave out

Review of Dr. Michal Albus and his then resident Amelia Woodruff. So: he was the attending for resident Amelia Woodruff at the time. I initially saw her, and he allowed her to submit my final visit note that was incorrect and insulting. Super condescending, insulting and inaccurate documentation of our encounter in the ER. I presented to the ER at Mayo after I was knocked out from a blow to my nose by a heavy duty wooden broom and had a bloody nose and heard a crack. I stepped on the base and the handle flew back at me. I admit, I’m a bit of a klutz. I had just resigned from the department of ENT where I was employed, to go back to another hospital. I actually was encouraged to go to Mayo ER by Dr. Olomu, my recent attending at Mayo, a sinus surgeon, after we talked and he saw photos of my nose right after the trauma and he agreed it was likely fractured. This resident fabricated the note and put me in a very negative light stating I “refused” to allow for palpation of my nose (?why would I do that?). She also insulted my profession as a PA and insinuated that I implied I know more than her because of my occupation. I do know more about nasal anatomy, fractures, and epistaxis, because I was a sinus PA and that’s all I did (at Mayo, nonetheless) for over a year. Not because I’m a PA. Because of my experience. So she had a chip on her shoulder and was offended that I asked to see her attending after she initially breezed in and sounded to be very poor in her understanding of nasal anatomy (she said something stupid, to put in bluntly... honestly, she sounded so ignorant of normal nasal anatomy I didn’t trust her). And then Dr. Albus comes in, and didn’t listen to me, was irritated, and already made his decision by her (false) report of our encounter, and said he would order a CT, annoyed. Thanks Dr. Albus and your resident, for the complete disrespect and falsifying our encounter due to bruised ego. So unprofessional, and just wrong ethically.

The rudeness of the er is disheartening. Sorry my lack of being able to breathe and feeling like my heart was going to explode such a boring inconvience.Update: by the time I made it to BMC Beaches, they said I was lucky, If I came in even 5 mins later, I would be DEAD. I was admitted to ICU. During triage they had to inject my leg with medication, be wise there was no veins to be found, and I needed it NOW. My test showed recent significant heart damage, labs show specially within the last few hours.I heard some horror stories from our patients but it was the closest hospital to me. Never making that mistake again, expesially with all the other stories coming to life. Please for your lifes sake avoid it at all cost.

Last night I was in the emergency room and my attending was Kara J. Bragg. Like I’ve dealt with my whole life, she was yet another doctor that refused to listen to me or show any empathy for her patients. She would very quickly tell me something and just try to exit the room right away, and she would get obviously frustrated when I would try to keep her for any questions I have. We’re dealing with my spine, have been since I was 9 and no one can figure out what’s wrong with me, so OBVIOUSLY I’m going to have questions. She answered so snippy and was so condescending. I begged for more scans because my last scan was 3 years ago and I’m only getting worse. She refused and said they don’t do them in the er, which is a lie because my last scan was in the er, but whatever. Fine. I can schedule an outpatient appointment. She gave me some steroids and mild pain medication and wrote me some prescriptions. Usually when doctors write me prescriptions, they explain what they’re writing and for what. She was just like “I sent some prescriptions to your pharmacy, you can pick them up soon” and tried to leave the room. I stopped her and asked what they were because I would like to know what I’m taking, obviously. She explained them and I just mentioned that those don’t usually work for me anyway, that nothing helps, I just want to know what is wrong, not try to cover it up temporarily. She snapped and was like “well I can’t write you narcotics in the er!” I literally did not ask for that once. I have prescribed narcotics at home and I choose not to take them hardly ever because even they don’t work for my pain level, they just make me loopy and I don’t like it. Which I told them. It’s beyond frustrating when doctors treat you a certain way based on inaccurate assumptions and judgment and refuse to listen to what the patient actually wants/needs. They act shocked or suspicious when I know multiple medical details and medications like I haven’t been dealing with this my whole life. I know there’s an issue with people going to the er for pain meds, but you can’t treat EVERY patient like that’s what they’re doing. I don’t want pain meds. I want to know what’s wrong with my spine so I can find a long term solution. I want to be able to walk at 26 years old without crying my eyes out. I want doctors to listen to me, for once, and to care more about their patients than a paycheck, and Dr. Bragg is not that doctor.Giving 2 stars because everyone else I saw was kind and considerate.

The next patient was a stretcher length from me but I needed to go to the bathroom! I was having a relapse with my multiple sclerosis and needed help! So I yelled! I need help! Omg! You would of thought I shot a gun off! Everyone including the doctor, came running saying you can’t yell in here, what are you doing, on and on... I had been an RN in the ICU for over 20 years and you don’t leave patients in the hallways with no way to call the nurse or nurse tech.... and side rails up! Nasty doctor nasty RN. It may be a great hospital for transplants and research but their ER is horrible.

I went to Mayo on multiple occasions. Every time I never get helped in a timely manner. And the hospital is always too busy and not staffed for the volume they accumulate. I went for severe dizziness a few years ago and they sent me home with a prescription to a medication that dizziness was a side effect! I went to Mayo again for symptoms similar to a stroke and they laughed at me with other co-workers behind my back and asked why I was here. They were all very rude to me and all I wanted to do was leave and go to another hospital. No doctor should act this way towards someone who is scared about their health.. Needless to say, I will not be back here ever again.

Although I have had great experiences at Mayo Clinic for specialists, the ER is the absolute worst I have ever experienced. Avoid. Seriously, avoid. Not only are they understaffed and ill prepared to manage clients, but the staff are cranky, the wait times are absolutely excessive even for serious emergencies, the doctors are rushed, and it’s unclean (dried vomit on the waiting room floor, filthy bathrooms... unreal). The person I brought in was in extreme pain to the point of violent shaking, losing consciousness, and blood pressure through the roof due to extreme pain - almost 3 hours before even getting so much as a Tylenol while sitting in a filthy waiting room - only because I persisted did we finally receive service, which was also sub par. Embarrassing for Mayo Clinic.

If you dont mind an ER that sends you home with a condition that could kill you, then this is the place for you ---My Primary Care Physician sent me to the Mayo ER for two very serious conditions. My doctor sent over detailed information, previously conducted tests and reports as well as a letter and the doctors at Mayo barely glanced at them and didnt even want copies. Mayo refused to conduct any of the tests that my Primary Care Physician requested and specifically sent me to Mayo to get done. They considered the request as unnecessary. Mayo did MINIMAL testing and didnt see anything wrong. I tried to get them to do the tests that were originally requested and they told me that we cant fix everything in the ER and theres nothing wrong with you that cant be handled outpatient. Theyll call you to set up something later. We have no justification to admit you or conduct any further tests. My condition eroded each day until I could no longer walk without assistance. I was admitted into ANOTHER hospital 3 days later. A CT Scan done on the 4th day found 2 Pulmonary Embolisms in one lung. Mayo Clinic LITERALLY sent me home with a life threatening condition because they refused to consider a condition another doctor diagnosed. I dont want to consider what would have happened to me if my Primary Care Physician wasnt such a great advocate and pushed me to go to another hospital. Thanks Mayo for the death sentence.

Ive had nothing but awful experiences here, from the staff to documentation. I went here once for myself and once for my son, and both times I had issues with the staff AND issues with clerical errors which resulted in complications which took months to resolve. Staff was rude both times and honestly did not seem to even care. Thr first time, they took my insurance information incorrectly by not inputting the correct member ID number. The second time, they never put my sons insurance information in their system but they refused to let me leave without providing it (I was extremely unhappy about the experience and wanted to leave and take my son somewhere else). And they refused to let me leave without providing his insurance info that they never even put into their system because I got a huge bill from them and had to make multiple calls back and forth, which took a long time to correct. Obviously I will not be back for a third time. This place is seriously overrated.
