The front office staff has been kind and helpful. Dr. Walker has always listened to my story and concerns. He explains everything he is doing and what your next steps are if original plan doesnt work. He has done a great job on both De Quervain releases(right and left). I have been very pleased with the process.Tonya (Dr. Walkers PA?) is very sweet and explains everything to make sure you understand. She is quick with what she needs to do which makes you not think about what she is doing--in my case, taking off wrapping and stitches out. She is easy to talk with.My only bad point is the wait time at the Athens office. It hasnt changed from 7 years ago when he was coming 2-3 times a week versus 1 now. I understand there are a lot of people that want to see the best; however I get there early being mindful of his time, please be mindful of mine.

Dr John H Walker, at SportsMed, Is awesome! He has now done both my carpal tunnel release surgeries and my transposition of my cubital nerve in my left arm. I knew when my left hand and elbow got worse that Dr Walker was who I wanted to see for those issue; because of my wonderful experience with him years before when he did my right wrist! He sits and talked to me and answered all my questions. I highly recommend him!

My experience at Dr Walker’s was for a second opinion after a previous surgery. Have only been there twice and already wish I would have chosen him initially. He and his staff are wonderfully patient, kind, and just awesome. Dr Walker seemed to take extra time to explain, comfort and encourage me when I was very low due to my ongoing problems with my hand and loss of my job due to it. I was tearful at my last apt due to a lot of reasons and including this, and his nurse took my hands and asked if she could pray with me. I don’t know when I have ever been so touched and impressed with medical professionals before, or at the very least, in a long time. I say this to include the 13 years I spent as a nurse in the hospital system. I had thought this kind compassion and actual caring for the patient just didn’t exist anymore. The Doctor and his staff get the very best rating from me!

Dr. Walker and his staff provide quality care with lots of personal attention. He recently performed a minor surgery on my finger. He explained everything clearly and thoroughly at the initial evaluation appointment, on the day of the procedure, and at the follow up appointment. Both he and his staff are personable and project honest concern for my condition. The procedure went well with no problems. The incision area is healing well and I am quickly recovering full use of the finger. Although I hope not to need his type of service again, I would not hesitate to use him again, should the need arise in the future.

Dr. Walker is the best! I am a dental hygienist with mixed connective tissue disease. He is able to keep my hands working and comfortable so that I can work( got to get the money 💰) powerlift , and still do all my outdoor activities. He was the first one to catch that I had an auto immune disease, so that we could start taking care of it early. Just the best ! I wouldn’t go to anybody else. His staff is always nice and curious. She has a very professional and personal work ethic as well as knowledge and experience with tennis elbow. Clearly explained my options, we both agreed to shots and it was absolutely painless. First of all, his medical assistant, Carrie, was fantastic. She really enjoys her job and helping people feel better. 5 stars to her! Dr. Walker is very congenial, he explains what is going on (in my case, Carpal tunnel on right hand and trigger finger on left.) He gave me a cortisone injection in each one; sprayed both with lidocaine first; the injection on the base of the thumb only stung and the one in the wrist only hurt about 5 seconds. the injections sites are teeny tiny. I would highly recommend Dr. Walker and his staff.

My family have all used Dr Walker for over 20 yrs. He is a very kind and compassionate man, listens well, cares to help his patients. He is highly skilled and very wise. I cannot talend him highly enough. He did major hand repair following an accident for my 4 yr old. He has done carpal tunnel release on both hands for me. He has treated arthritis as we age, torn and pulled muscles and ligaments etc. I only wish it were the prior years when one orthopedist treated everything. We trust him implicitly. Sportsmed is a well run facility as well.
