I have been going to Dr. Dohrenwend for many years now and find him to be a terrific doctor. I have had several health issues and he has been wonderful each and every time. I find his bedside manner to be quite refreshing and he always takes the time to answer any and all questions. His staff is also very customer oriented and very pleasant to work with as well. I used to complain about ALWAYS having to update my medication list at each visit but I find that to be very comforting and reassuring. Thanks Dr. D and Staff!!!

Dr. Dohrenwend is very thorough and ordered several screenings and tests when I was referred by my PCP for a potentially serious condition. He and a hematologist worked together to resolve the primary issue. During the screenings another potentially deadly condition was identified. I am now being treated for it. Dr. D is knowledgeable, and is providing important medical care. Some have criticized him as being rude or abrupt. I think he is all business and takes his work seriously. Thats why I am there...to get these medical issues resolved correctly. We can joke around once the treatment is completed.

The office staff was friendly and professional. Dr. D was excellent handling my colonoscopy and follow up. He was thorough when explaining the results. I would recommend this office and Dr. D.

Very rude and was disrespectful as soon as he walked in the room to my family member!!! Never do you treat a patient the way him and his staff did making her feel very uncomfortable!!! I would never EVER recommend him to anyone!!!! Him and his staff need to learn how to treat their patients!! I work in the medical field and they should be ashamed! They dont even deserve the one star but I had to just so I can comment!

Wait time was short and after a few tests Dr Dohrenwend knew exactly what was wrong and fixed the problem. Loved the Drs sense of humor!!

I met with Dr. Michael Dohrenwend, and found him to be more than pleasant. He explained everything about my upcoming procedure. We discussed my most recent bloodwork and tests. He asked questions regarding acid reflux and past history of GI issues. He was kind, funny, and engaging. I was able to ask my questions without a feeling of being rushed. I would highly recommend Dr. Michael Dohrenwend to anyone seeking the expertise of a gastroenterologist. I look forward to many more interactions with this office.

I was referred to Dr. Dohrenwend for my heartburn and abdominal pain. We’ve made great progress with the heartburn, and we’re in the process of pinning down the source of the abdominal pain. He’s even saved me some money by giving me a free sample. 👍

I will never step foot in his office again. He insulted me, my husband, even my last GI doctor. He came into the room mad because I had asked about waiting to do a colonoscopy until after we got my acid reflux under control. He treated me with sarcasm and like I was a child. I left the office almost in tears and verbally abused. I already have an appointment with another doctor. He will never get my business again, and shouldnt be in practice if he treats others like that. According to the ratings Ive seen, Im definitely not the only one.

Hands down one of the most backward and rudest interactions I have ever experienced from what should be a professional organization. Ms. Fox (Nurse Practitioner and Owner) hung up on me twice in the process. All because I asked if they would do a phone consultation for a medication review in preparation for a colonoscopy. They refused. They also would not allow me to email copies of my drivers license and medical insurance to them, stating:1. They do not have an email address (really?!), and2. Doing so would violate HIPA laws as email can be hacked.I stated Id be happy to pay for an office visit to discuss my medications over the phone with the doctor. Again they refused. I also stated they already had the data from the two cards on the hardcopies of the registration forms I was required to manually fill out and snail mail to them, so why did they need for me to come to their office to bring the two cards? To make money, thats why, as they stated they were going to charge me for an office visit to do so. I tried to tell them encrypted email is used by the government in this town on a minute-by-minute basis safely sending and receiving far more classified data than someones drivers license and insurance card. These practices tell me the have had such a breach and thus have dealt with some unscrupulous customers. Instead of managing those scenarios, their reaction is to become Luddites and require their law abiding patients to suffer their ridiculous office practices. I was also told not to call them back (I had only done so once in the wake of being hung up on), and that if I did it would be received as harassment!!Needless to say, I would NOT recommend the Center for Digestive Health in Huntsville, AL to ANYONE for any procedure whatsoever and will ensure my Primary Care physician is made aware of Ms. Foxs grossly unprofessional and rude behavior along with her staff.

Dr D. Was recommended to me by several people. When I got to the office the staff was great. For some of the people that had comments about billing, well to be honest read the MANY signs that made it clear as to how the billing works at this office.As far as Dr. D. He and his wife were very nice. I loved how casual they both were. Considering the line of work they do, they made the visit not so uncomfortable. The test they scheduled were done quickly and I had the results back quickly. I would recommend this office to anyone. Great staff, great doctor and over all great experience.

Dr. is nice and all but they charge you extra if paying by card like some kind of backwoods gas station...during a pandemic when most places dont accept cash. Poor business ethics.

Got the run around about refilling my Liver Transplant Liver Rejection Meds. Referred me to Vanderbuilt and then in turn played around with me as to where they wanted to see me, either in Madison Alabama or up at Vanderbuilt. Now two months later out of meds and they are sending me in circles. 23 years out from transplant and being done this way. Go to a place they care and get things done, just another fumbling physicians in Huntsville!

He treated me for two conditions and found pre-cancerous polyps. Grateful for him and his team. Excellent doctor.

I missed a Tuesday appointment. They called and rescheduled for Thursday. I called the following Wednesday to confirm the time and was told the appointment was for last week on Thursday. I apologized and asked to reschedule. The receptionist was quite rude and said it would be a $100 cash reschedule fee. I said maybe I should find another doctor. She said ok and hung up! Ive been a patient of Dr. D for nearly 10 years. Never a problem. This note is just to let him know who ever is taking calls should receive some customer service training.

Dr. D doesnt write chart notes or remember who you are, but I let that go because he is a doctor and they dont really care who you are as long as you pay your copay and they get to bill your insurance. The part that I cant let go is the fact that I paid 200.00 cash for a copay at the front desk for a balance owed on my account, the receptionist stole the money and the office manger, Karen, told me they had to let her go for embezzling from another patient as well. However, I have to pay it again because they have no record of the cash being paid in their software. This issue began three months ago and after completing their investigation, Karen told me that I would be turned over to collections next month if I didnt pay the balance in full. Dr. D refuses to talk to me and the office staff continually covers for the office manager. They say she is in clinic, out of town, and on the other line. The best part is that they will not send me my records without paying 1.00/page because it is office policy. You would think office policy would have applied to the receptionist that stole 200.00, but apparently it only applies to me and Ill have to pay for my records. The office staff and Dr. D have handled this issue very poorly, but what can you expect from a doctor who doesnt write chart notes or remember anything about his patients. He had no idea who I was when he looked back at my chart. Its easy to throw out office policies, when you dont care about your patient and cant relate to them. My conversation ended today when Karen hung the phone up while I was talking and didnt answer when I called back. I do not recommend dealing with Dr. D or his staff members. Update - I received a letter dismissing me as a patient two weeks later.

I see a handful of positive reviews, and a handful of bad, so I have to believe he has good days and bad. I must have only ever caught him on the bad ones because WOW!Arrogant is being kind, and Ill leave it at that..

Great experience with Dr. Dohrenwend. I prefer to be prior informed that a follow up visit is required in order to obtain results per their office policy or an alternative is to pay $1 per page. Luckily Ive found a work around & that is to reach out directly to the Lab & they provide your results for .12 cents a sheet.

One star only because I cant select zero. Tried to set up payment arrangements but Dr would not accept less than $75 per month. I paid first $75 payment, then was in a terrible bind for the rest of the month. Again I tried to make arrangements to pay less than the $75. Would not allow me to pay any less = would not take payment. I pay my bills so this is ridiculous to me. Now Im being told to pay balance within 30 days or I will be turned over to collections. Posting this as a warning to anyone who is sick but on a tight budget. Dohrenwend is not there to help you or allow you to pay your debt with integrity. I work for a medical facility and I will no longer refer anyone to this heartless excuse for a doctor.

He is a fantastic doctor with a fantastic staff. Down to earth, explains everything in a way that isnt condescending. Really lucky that I was referred to Dr. Dohrenwend.

Doesnt know the symptoms of a perforated colon after having a colonoscopy. Was told to eat a soft diet and come back for recheck in 4 days. Ended up having emergency surgery and looking a large portion of my colon.

I have been going to this office for several years now. I have never hadless than pleasant treatment from Dr Dohrenwend or his nursing staff. I have to disagree with previous comments that he doesnt remember his patients or their symptoms/results because he knew my history when he walked into the room. He has always been very pleasant to me and never disrespectful. Based on the nature of his business, sometimes his questions may seem a little personal, but he is a doctor after all and when discussing things like colonoscopies and such...well, you just have to realize that it is going to be that way. I would recommend him to anyone needing a gastroenterologist.

I experienced considerable issues with a malfunctioning Schatzkis Ring. Dr Dohrenwend and his staff diagnosed me and took care of the issue with a medical procedure. He and his staff returned me to my active professional and family life for which I am grateful. This is a very effective and efficient practice. Well done and thank you Sir.

There office staff are friendly, compassionate, and understanding. Karen Fox, CRNP is really knowledgeable and always has a smile on her face. Dr. Dohrenwend is amazing. I had to have labs and a CT scan today and I was nervous about the results so I called the after hours hotline. He promptly called me back and went out of his was to follow up with the results prior to the time I was Informed. He called me to inform me of the results being great and he made sure I was alright. AAA+ service here and I highly recommend them to anyone!Thanks Dr. D and Dr. K!

Dr. D had ordered a blood test to see if I was anemic due to rectal bleeding. He does not have an office lab so was scheduled to have blood drawn at at HH. That test cost me $70.00. I had to take off from work to have the blood test done. Then instead of calling to give results, was told I had to come back to office which would cost me another $50.00 co-pay plus more missed time at work. Got to his office paid my $50.00 and was called back. His nurse/girlfriend laughed and said well youre not pregnant! Ha ha ha! ( I am a Male just in case you were wondering.) Someone on his staff had checked a box for an estrogen work-up on the labs orders.When I asked about getting my co-pay back was told that would be up to Dr. D.I said well tell him to call me and let me know. Have yet to hear back except for a couple of calls wanting to schedule another colonoscopy. I asked well is Dr. Dohrewend going to refund my last two co-pays for screwing up my blood test? I dont know you would have to take that up with him. Then tell him to call me please. I have yet to hear back from him. Thats been 5 years or so ago. Seems from other posts the good Dr. is a little greedy! Just my opinion!

I found Dr. Dohrenwend and his staff to be thoroughly courteous and professional. Dr. D is friendly and personable, and took the time to answer all my questions.

I have never in my 76 years met a more rude, arrogant doctor. His rudeness is so prevalent and I can’t imagine how he still has any patients. He asked me a question and I was giving him the answer and he interrupted to tell me the question he asked was a yes or no question. I answered and left. He said I could come back in three months. No way will I ever see him again. Patients are human beings and need to be treated as such. And the real shame is he had an intern with him and I hope she doesn’t learn the rudeness to humans is an acceptable behavior.

Went in for the results and was told needed a procedure but there was nothing he could do and he said he will try to get us a referral for another clinic. Its ok if your not the one with an esophageal tumor! He got very angry when asked why test wasnt ordered. See someone else. Its his way only.
