I’ve known Dr. Sebag and VMR institute for a long time because Dr. Sebag performed several surgeries for my both eyes to clear floaters.I had serious complication after cataract surgery performed by another ophthalmologist early this year. Eye pressure elevated so high due to complication. I thought I was going to go blind and the pain was so unbearable at night. I was really scared. I was admitted to surgery center immediately right next day after my eye was evaluated and diagnosed. Dr. Sebag was not available for surgery at the time, so Dr. Gui performed the surgery. My first impression of Dr. Gui was that he communicated with a patient very well in a professional and courteous manner. He gave me a lot of peace of mind before the surgery. After several months later, the surgery turns out to be very successful without any side-effect or complication. My both eyes have clear 20/20 vision without floaters. They are in perfect condition.I highly recommend VMR institute because it has the best doctors in greater Los Angeles area. They can perform very complicated eye surgeries that only a very few skilled doctors can perform.

My wifes first experience with VMR was in August of this year. She was told she needed surgery on her right eye due to something pulling on her retina. When she first went to VMR, her appointment took 4 hours; in and out of offices for testing, and re-testing.When she met with Doctor Gui,she was shocked to learn that she was among his first patients, something that you dont always like to hear when someone is going to do surgery on your eye. After meeting doctor Gui, all her concerns were alleviated. While he was young, he was very professional, and demonstrated his ability that she felt was way beyond his age. He explained her circumstances, and set up her surgery date for September 2nd in Newport Beach.Since that time she have several appointments with Dr. Gui, and each one continued to bolster her faith in him as a highly skilled professional.Beyond his professional skill, he is a a very gentle man, with great ability to calm your concerns with not only his knowledge, but his demeanor, being very calm and having a quiet personality. To say that Donna would recommend him and VMR, is an understatement!!

I’m 47 and HAD BEEN suffering with dense floaters for 8 years. Dr. Sebag performed a limited vitrectomy on my left eye earlier this year and more recently, Dr. Gui, did the same on my right. My only regret is that I did not do this sooner. The entire experience, from initial consultation, the recording of diagnostic metrics on my vision pre and post-op, to the follow up check-up was all top notch.I am deeply grateful for the science that Dr. Sebag and his colleagues have created around his limited vitrectomy procedure and how he has data to support its efficacy. What led me to Dr. Sebag was the fact that he has successfully mitigated the risk of forming a cataract after such procedures – again, with long term patient data to support this. One last item I’d like to point out: Dr. Sebag has created the science behind his procedure. Vision is precious. If I have a choice of going to someone who is simply trained to perform a procedure versus going to the one who created the science behind the procedure and who is actively furthering that science – the choice is clear. No pun intended.Thank you Dr. Sebag, Dr. Gui, Mr. Yee and staff for what you do. Thank you Dr. Sebag for listening to floater sufferers and working to provide solutions that offer superior outcomes.Jeff W.

I was told by another doctor that a Jetrea injection would not work for my vitrea macula attachment because the vitrea had formed scar tissue on the sides of the opening, but Dr. Sebag said no, he thought it would work and that I would have no problem going to teach afterward. Well it didnt work for the same reason the other doctor said it wouldnt and there was no way I could teach with swirling vitrea and the darkness that issued. Also, he used a device to keep my eye open that gave me ptosis. Another eye doctor told me that they have known for 30 years that the device causes ptosis. In addition, he blotted my eye with a cloth applying tremendous pressure for a long time (I dont know why anyone would do this). I could feel the pressure despite being numb. The next morning I woke up and couldnt see anything out of the eye because of the darkness and it was early in the morning. I thought I was blind, but when the sun came up more I realized it was darkness. The pupil was constricted for two or three months and it took several months to recover to a point where my eyesight is not as good as it was plus now I have ptosis. While sitting in the waiting room, I talked to another patient who also complained about the doctor putting tremendous pressure on his eye when he had an eye bleed after one of his wet macula degeneration injections - I hadnt told him of my experience.Additionally, the following day I came in after my injection and Dr. Sebags partner saw me since Sebag wasnt there and he was quite nasty.

Dr. Sebag performed surgery on my friend, who had a severe problem with floaters. After the surgery, my friend told me she got her life back from that surgery. She hadn’t been able to drive, do crafts (her hobby) or read prior to Dr. Sebag’s help. I accompanied my friend to her appointments and surgery, and we were pleased with the professionalism of Dr. Sebag and his staff. The floaters are gone and my friend has her life back. Thank you Dr. Sebag!

Best ophthalmologist specializing in floatersI had a vitrectomy surgery to remove floaters in my right eye. My floater problem has been going on for many years. I got YAG laser procedures several times before the surgery to fix the problem, but the problem kept coming back after a while.I’ve been holding off for almost a year until I finally bite the bullet and decide to get the surgery. In the meantime every time I ask any questions regarding the surgery and all the side-effects by e-mail, he was kind enough to answer all my questions in great details and timely manner. That’s another reason why I decide to go for Dr. Sebag after intensive research about the procedure and the ophthalmologists specializing in vitrectomy for floaters in greater LA area. He’s caring, responsive and detail oriented. He even responded to my e-mail regarding concerns about bleeding immediately late at night on the surgery date. Another doctor (his colleague doctor) also responded to my question over the phone immediately. It turned out to be normal and okay after all. The surgery will be over before you know it because you get twilight anesthesia. I didn’t have any pain after the surgery. You don’t need any pain killer. To be honest with you, your eye will look miserable after the surgery. But don’t be alarmed. Blood in your eye will start to disappear noticeably in two weeks and will completely disappear in four week in my case. You can actually see clearly on next day after the surgery. You might still feel a little uncomfortable and fatigue in your eye after the surgery. Ice packs do help minimize swelling. You have to be very careful after the surgery. No exercise and always protect your eye as you’re instructed. I gave up all my favorite sports after the surgery for a while because I had to protect my eye and prevent any elevated eye pressure.Staffs are kind and friendly in general. If you want to take care of your floater problem once for all, you won’t be disappointed with Dr. Sebag. But don’t just take my own word for it. Do your own research and educate yourself before the surgery on your own. He published a lot of research papers about vitrectomy and floaters. Dr. Sebag will also educate you and explain everything up front before the surgery. No surprises after the surgery.I am very happy with results overall. It did improve quality of my life because I can see everything much more clearly now.

This office is horrible! Not sure if its the doctors or the staff or both. Unorganized and they dont call or schedule things, they dont do proper preoperative screenings for health issues. I would not choose this place if you have other options. So frustrated with them and they try to make like its my fault they scheduled me at a time that was not good. Been waiting for 2 hours to see the Dr. and Im told it will probably be another 40 mins. Surgery took two and a half months to schedule as my sight got less and less. HORRIBLE follow up and customer service.
