This place just gets it. Ive been to several hospitals in the Texas Medical Center and by far, Patients are TREATED better by the Staff. Everyone here seems to want to help. No arrogance, no talking down to ya...just professionals doing good work.Special shout out to the ladies working in the Walter Tower 3, Pre-op area today. They are fantastic!

This Hospital required me to leave the room at 8:00 pm where my daughter has been in induced labor since last night. They allowed her husband to stay with her but I am sitting in a cold waiting room at 11:00 pm instead of being with my only daughter while she is in labor with her fifth child. I dont want to leave her here as anything could happen with her and the baby.In the room was a nice comfortable recliner and a sofa where I could have rested after driving more than 200 miles to be here with her. I dont call this hospitality or family friendly. On the other hand I thought the staff was very professional and courteous and helpful in every way.

Very skilled and knowledgeable doctors. However, whats the point of having online booking systems on the main website that does not accurately portray the availability of the doctor? Far too many times Ive tried to book with a provider and the office never follows up with me, and I end up calling them anyways and they clearly ever have even received my booking request.

My father was admitted to “the best hospital” in Houston, Tx. With “not to brag” leading medicine on September 13th as a Covid patient. He arrived with 89 finger monitor levels and by the time he was admitted he had dropped to 86. It was his 8th day of Covid. We asked for monoclonal antibodies and they said my dad was too old (59) to qualify as a candidate. As the days progressed my dear father had a rollercoaster nightmare health wise. Some days better than others. From starting in the intermediate care unit, to being moved to the intensive care unit, then being intubated and finally losing his battle to Covid (and in my opinion the doctors) on October 8th. The physicians would suggest different options such as the ECMO machine, a tracheostomy, even lung transplant all to eventually saying your father isn’t a candidate, because this or that. For all those processes my father needed to be in a more adequate health (mainly his oxygenation as nothing else was wrong with him other than severe lung damage). I’m very upset at the fact doctors didn’t act when it was the right time. The days he had good oxygen. The days he could’ve handled any of the procedures they themselves suggested. The worse was when we had a conference with them over the phone (a day before his passing) and one of the involved said, “that’s irrelevant now” as cold hearted as can be. One of my father’s doctor was so arrogant and kept repeating, “not to brag, but we are the leading hospital and people come to us to learn from us” and repeated that several times. This conversation was recorded by us by the way. We are so disappointed with this hospital as we know they could’ve done more to save my father’s life. They said, we saw progress some days and thought he would get better, yet also mentioned with Covid you never know. Exactly why they should’ve acted at the right time and didn’t.

The Good: nurses were effective and helpful if not always attentive. The Bad: care, empathy, professionalism, food, responsiveness, communication, follow-up…. Basically everything but the nurses. My 80 year old mother, with a paralyzed arm, was admitted to Methodist after falling and breaking 3 ribs. The nurses were excellent. The doctor she was assigned never even called to update us or provide a diagnosis. I finally tracked him down two days later after making numerous called to figure out who he even was. My mother, who could not even get out of bed a walk without someone holding her up was seen by a PR who recommended she be discharged the day after she was admitted even though the cart stated she had high blood pressure as well as the fractures. Pain management was prescribed but wholly inadequate and it took multiple contacts and complaints to get her even slightly comfortable. She was full discharged after 3 days (I expected that they would have to keep her a minim of a week simple because she could not use the bathroom without aid). She was don’t home with a handful of Tylenol 3s that won’t last until she can even see her doctor in 4 days. The communication, care, discharge procedures, and concern for her needs was a joke. While my mother can be stubborn, the nurses did an excellent job but I am furious at the treatment she revived by the rest of the staff. She is in pain and suffering and I have been unable to reach anyone who could help me. Everyone is either sorry but unable to help or unable to be contacted. The level of care at Methodist is offensive.

Father went there for heart failure. The swelling in his leg from the heart failure caused a blister which popped while in the hospital. They sent him home with an infected leg after taking days to figure out what to do about it. No antibiotics were administered for the infection. A wound care specialist visited my father at home and was shocked at the condition of his leg and that they sent him home that way. If he loses the leg or dies from this I will be suing. DO NOT GO HERE. They are just itching to get you in and get you out, healed or not.**Edit**The wound care specialist could SMELL the infection the moment she entered the house. She took pictures and gave the information to my fathers PCP who immediately had my father admitted into another hospital for treatment of the leg. I am appalled that this hospital would discharge my father with a wound in that condition.

My 5-star review is strictly for two nurses in Labor and Delivery:Courtney Brown & Laura Reyes are two of the most kind, caring, amazing RN’s a patient can have. My heart absolutely broke the day I delivered my tiny little baby girl before she was old enough to survive. It was the worst moment of my entire life and I have never felt pain so deep. Courtney & Laura were two nurses that took care of me and treated me as if I were family to them. I will always remember how the both of them made me feel while I was there when I think of this very hard outcome for my husband and I. Thank you both for not only being so amazing to me, but thank you also for acknowledging my baby girls name every time you walked into the room. Thank you both for showing me that she mattered even to you.As far as the hospital alone goes, I would give you a 0-star review for firing employees who refuse the covid vaccine. What a disgusting and despicable act and shame on the hospital for doing something so sick and controlling. To anyone who has been fired or will be.... just remember, God is in control, and He will provide for every single person who gets let go of because of this twisted policy.

Only when he had died 3-4 hrs then I was allow inside, talk to him when he can no longer hear, held his cold hand when he can no longer feel me. Prior to his death, the doctors rudely kept asking me to seek hospice and pull the plug so the death count doesn’t go into their record I guess. My aunty is a doctor as well and she told me to tell them to keep trying for my dad. Then when passed from dialysis failure yet they claim cause of death from covid 19. They are one of the worse hospitals I’ve seen. The staff are unprofessional and are terribly trained. They give you medicine that doesn’t work and has no effect on you. Some of the medicine has even made me worse than how I was originally feeling. In the emergency room department they answer the phone then tell you to wait; one time I even waited approximately 1 hour and they still had me on hold. And the cherry on top once I got a room a couple of hours later they released me; even though I told them I wasn’t feeling good they just prescribed some pain killers to me; I could’ve went to my local Walmart and got better medicine there. They saw the condition I was in and Ignored it, until it got worse then they gave me some medicine. I would’ve been fine if they just gave me medicine for my problem the first time they saw it. It was like a five year old was checking me; just a terrible visit.

More information is given for Covid than even for my husbands surgery. We had an extremely long drive to get here and had to leave at 3 am.I am stuck waiting here for my husband to get out of surgery. Because leaving and getting back in through all the screening is insane.I’m waiting in the waiting room and I am exhausted from work. I take my jacket and lean against the chair on the floor so I can maybe nap before I have to make the drive back home. I’m told i have to get up and sit in a chair because me being on the floor is unsanitary and don’t need to be down there. She rudely scoffs at me and walks off. Number one the only person that needs to worry of it’s sanitary or not is me since I was the one on the floor in a clean carpeted outpatient waiting room for Ear Nose and Throat patients. Not the ER. Not a place full of sick contagious people. To be talked to and scoffed at when that child that calls herself a woman acts like she knows best for me is absolutely ridiculous. If you have employees that think they are above compassionate human interaction then you might do some better training.

It seemed that only the trash bags were changed, and the bed linens. The restroom hadnt been cleaned, the floors were filthy. There was a milk carton spilled under the chair and sticky substance on the floor. Very troubling since were in the midst of a pandemic. There was hair on the bed, sink was nasty, and the shower filled with hairballs.I brought cleaning supplies on day 1 and cleaned so that we didnt end up with the virus from contact in the room. Housekeeping came to the room on the 1st night after the nurse called. She apologized and cleaned the shower and bathroom. However, she didnt clean any surfaces, floor was still nasty. She was in hospital just for one day, the nurses were very good anda accurate, but maid service was very disorganized, need to ask for water and sheets several times, tea was never served, dinner arrived even if we we leaving the hospital and which is worse was that after the Dr released my daughter, we were kept waiting for paper work to be done for more than 2 hours ( they were unable to contact the Dr again for making him sign the documents).A hospital like this SHOULD have a procedure in order to be applied in these cases in order to prevent the patient kept waiting unnecessarily. Nurses didn’t have the Dr telephone number to call him directly.

A family member had brain surgery. Someone was allowed to stay with them, though in the various ICU wards, there is no eating allowed and visitors must leave for two hours at shift change. I believe I caught a cold from spending time in the cafeteria. The cafeteria is amazing and even the guest trays are good (waaay better than I thought hospital food would be). The gift shop should be open more hours, as the cafeteria closes from 2 to 6:30 am. The staff was superlative.

It should be zero stars for the West Houston (Katy) Emergency Room.NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE THE DETAILED TEST RESULTSUpon discharge, nurse lied and said that all my test results were in an envelope. When I arrived home, I opened the envelope and they were not there. The papers also indicated that I DECLINED a MyChart activation code - I did not. Today I called the MyChart pone number and got a code, then I got online. The test results were not there. Drove back to the ER and they said they could not print out the results (like other Houston area hospitals do). They said I had to wait 24-48 hours for them to be posted online.

I was taken to Methodist med center ER Thursday at 10pm July 24, 2020 with level 10 pain, a result of SBO. There are previous records of the same condition at Methodist. It took over five hours before being hooked up to suction equipment to decompress/relieve the pressure. Pressure which could EASILY have resulted in life threatening rupture, sepsis and possible death. Due to the lack of competency in a critical, time-sensitive emergency, next time I will use St Lukes. When my life is at stake, I will no longer trust what I assumed were trained professionals in what is considered the best hospital in the Houston Medical Center.

If I could give a zero I would. Doctor said they would refill my prescription but never did and now they want me to go back and spend another $200 for a prescription I was told they would refill in April. Customer service is rude and terrible. They just want to make money, not help.

I had a major surgery on April 7, 2015, on the day of my birthday. The staff heard about it was my birthday and they brought me a small cake, a balloon, and a gift, it was so nice. I have not complain on my last stay there 4/7/2015, everything was fine, doctor did good, staff was very nice, room was nice and clean.

Houston Methodist is a great hospital as well as Methodist in the Woodlands. My wife has been in the hospital almost 4 weeks with covid. She has been at the Houston campus since July 28th. The doctors and nurses have been great with the exception of a couple of nurses who didnt seem to have much of a caring attitude. That makes for a rough 12 hours for a patient like my wife who is allowed no visits at all. The no visitors policy needs to be changed! Why cant the spouse be allowed to come in at least 2 hours a day? Ill be more than happy to suit up in full PPE and Ill even pay for it! Being without any family is very hard emotionally on a patient. Hospital administrators should understand this! You could even have visitors on her floor coming in on a rotating schedule. This policy is wrong and should be changed.

My cousin’s wife has a massive hemorrhagic stroke at the age of 40– and is in critical care in the ICU on the 11th floor (Neurological floor) Neither her or her husband speak any English since they just migrated here from India a couple of years ago. The first day, they allowed us all to go to the 11th floor and stay in the visitors area (small waiting room on 11th floor) while my cousin was allowed as the solo designated visitor to her room- which is totally understandable since we are in the middle of a pandemic. But one of us - American born cousins- has to go with him to translate. Unfortunately- these are our circumstances. They would not allow us to to go up today or help translate anything to him. They kept telling us, he is being translated via a tablet — he told us he doesn’t understand fully what they are saying. They had a difficult time finding a Sikh person who speaks fluently in Punjabi - and it’s so frustrating. We were told his wife is the most critical person on the floor hanging onto her life by a thread- and they would not allow us to help him in his most broken time. He’s been crying excessively- mostly out of anxiety of not knowing what they are doing and what they are making him sign and all the procedures that are taking place. This isn’t fair to further drag someone through unnecessary stress at a time where every hour is critical for the patient. We don’t want to go bedside inside the ICU- we just want to translate from the 11th floor waiting room as we did the first day. Doctors and nurses were updating us and we were communicating with him fully and he understood everything. An iPad translation and a human translation are two different things. Poor guy hasn’t slept in 3 days or anything and Methodist hospital is adding to his stress!

Very caring and attentive staff. Outstanding care before and after surgery. Recovery room nurse was amazing. Could not ask for a more capable, competent or caring surgeon. The room was a bit small and older, but clean and well organized.
