An incredible place to get introduced to CrossFit. The coaches are knowledgeable and patient, and they really take the time to make sure you are lifting the RIGHT way before you try lifting a lot. Its also an incredible community of people that is very welcoming and the social events are a ton of fun. Whether youve never been much of a gym person or youre just looking for a new challenging way to work out, I cant recommend them enough.

Just started back at the gym and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. Everyone I’ve interacted with has been kind and willing to go out of their way to teach the new members including myself the ropes. Coaches break down each exercise very simply. It didn’t take long to figure out I wanted to work towards my personal goals with this gym.

I joined CrossFit Illuminati in January 2016. Coach Jason made me feel confident and took care in making sure I did every movement correctly. And that’s the thing! There are movements in CrossFit that I stare at and think – no way. Everything can be modified. Heavy weights can be intimidating but throwing them from overhead after completing a move is a euphoric feeling – a feeling you won’t get from a shoulder press machine at the gym with your headphones on. You look around and everyone else is striving for their own greatness. CrossFit is accountability, community and strength. It is both individual improvement and a community lifestyle. Since joining CFI I have lost 20 pounds – and gained just as many friends. Each one of these friends motivate me to not just go to the gym, but do better every single time. And that is what makes me feel beautiful!

I love this box. I’ve been coming here since 2013 and every day is a different challenge. Pick a class, any class; the coaches are super knowledgeable and they will push to bring out the best in you and adjust to your skill level. The other members are also helpful and friendly, and it doesn’t hurt that it has a badass name.

I started crossfit back in 2013 (have never been athletic in my life prior to that). A year and a half later I got job relocation and had to find a new box to go to. I wasn’t just looking for a good workout, but I was also looking for a great community and making friends. CrossFit Illuminati did not disappoint! Through outstanding coaching and encouragement I have improved my fitness by a ton and made some good friends. I am a member till this day and even if life gets on the way, I try my best to make it there.P.S. A year or so after becoming a member of CFI, I started coaching running clubs and shortly after got my L1 trainer certificate. I coach classes and love seeing our members become best versions of themselves :) come check it out!

This is a great gym with even better coaches! Crossfit can be very intimidating on the outside looking in, but this box does a great job of welcoming anyone new to the culture. This gym also offers strength training, yoga, and running classes, and has hours open 7 days a week for anyone wanting to come in and push themselves past the programming. I cant recommend this gym enough!!

Crossfit has helped me become the best, happiest and healthiest version of myself. Fitness has always been the goal - not to look diff, but to feel stronger. This has truly been a transformation inside out. It completely breaks me down and helps create a newer version of myself. Thanks for helping me push the barriers and form lifelong healthy habits. As newly moved guy to Houston, now i can finally say i am here to stay.I cant miss to mention about the awesome coaches and fellow athletes. They create a friendly comfortable environment and provide a thorough guidance and encouragement throughout the wod. Will definitely recommend to try the free classes.

I used to be a very avid CrossFit Athlete, which got me in the best shape of my life. Through some health issues, a very STUPID move out of state, and general life problems, I gained a lot of weight back and developed arthritis in the hips. When I returned to Houston, I moved into a different part of town, which led me to CrossFit Illuminati. The structure of their classes is a bit different from what Im used to from other CrossFit gyms, but for what I am needing, general conditioning, CFI has been perfect for me. For people who want a bit more work with their strength, they have a strength program that you can also participate in. Their coaching has been very good and work very well with people who are just starting or needing extra attention. The community feel is excellent, which is one of the main reasons why I love CrossFit so much!If youre serious about getting in shape and need help with general conditioning, give them a try!

Crossfit Illuminati was awesome box I found online to attend while visiting Houston on business. First of all I was welcomed and felt at home from the beginning by all the coaches and athletes. Very organized and efficient box with classes running every half hour for convenience and keeping classes from getting to big.I want to give a big shout out and thank you to Jerry & Deby for some great coaching and extra help and getting my first bar muscle up with Debys help. I had a great three days there and will be looking forward to coming back.

Updated review: Ive been coming here for 5 years now. As CrossFit is now a household word, I wont go into describing the workouts. Heres what makes this place high-quality: the coaches. The coaches are totally invested in meeting each athlete where they are and helping them to improve. They spend as much time coaching the newbies as they do helping the veterans. Coach Jason, the box owner, is great at breaking down movements to make sure that theyre executed safely, and scaling a workout is never a bad word. Id describe the environment as friendly-competitive, enough to make you push yourself, not so much that you risk serious injury. Ive found the coaches are on the lookout for people pushing themselves too far and will speak up if they think youll be in trouble.Beyond that, the folks here are very welcoming and encouraging to new members, and everyone is encouraged to join in out-of-gym social events; theres usually something about every month. The owner and coaches are always looking to improve the place with better equipment, new and different WODs, little tweaks here and there to improve the experience. I feel very lucky that I discovered this place near me - so much more than just a gym.*** Update*** Talk about dedication: last year a fire claimed the gym. The next day CFI re-opened in a nearby space and the WODs went on. Weeks later we were back in the totally re-done original space with all new equipment. These guys just dont quit. The workouts, the coaches, and the other members are just a great as ever. So glad I discovered CFI!

This is a great place. I spent years at your typical 24 hour megabox gym located right around the corner. I left due to the lack of community. Everyone would simply workout ignoring everyone. It had become an unfriendly place lacking in comradery.A couple of friends told me about CFI. I dropped in for a couple of free workouts and loved it. I didn’t know what to expect when I joined a CrossFit box, but what I got out of it far exceeded my expectations. I found a community of encouraging people of various fitness levels and body types with all kinds of backgrounds who wanted to see you succeed in your workout whether you were working with an empty bar or a fully loaded one. The workouts were as intense as I wanted them to be and could be scaled back to fit my needs. Workouts were usually finished in 60 mins, which is about half the time Id have to spend at a megabox gym waiting for equipment. The social outings, competitions, and friends made there are a huge bonus plus as well.I had never done any heavy lifting before, so that part was all new to me, and the coaches did a great job teaching me the movements, which they reviewed at the start of each workout. The coaches led me on a string of firsts: deadlift, clean, clean and jerk (basically any Olympic lift or movement), handstand and handstand pushup, double unders (10 consecutive is my pr). I discovered I’m pretty good on the rower, and I do like tossing around the kettle bells. Also, CFI, the coaches, and the WODs re-instilled mental toughness in me by helping me actualize things I didnt think my body was able to do any longer. The yoga class and the running club there are also excellent. I found the yoga class to be a great way to do some active recovery while increasing my mobility. Since I consider myself a runner, it was also nice to have some people around who liked to run as well and do races in the Houston area.Over my time there I noticed how functional many of the movements were:Squat = getting in and out of chairs.Thrusters = picking something up from the floor to place it on a shelf, or if you are a parent picking your kid of off the floor and raising them over your head.Farmer Carries = carrying groceries from the store to your car, or carrying any heavy object by your side.Deadlifts= teaches me to lift from the legs, in a recent move I used this movement frequently in moving furniture.Dumbbell Snatches = picking up your keys from the floor.

Wearing cute gym clothes and going Zumba/Cardio was “my thing” . But 2 things happened last year – I hit my 30`s (read – metabolism went out of the window) and my body stopped responding to Cardio. I didn’t lose any weight and neither did I look “fit”.My husband has always been part of the cult known as “Crossfit” (rolling eyes) . he always wanted me to give CF a chance but remember ….Dance/Cardio/Zumba were my thing!Well, earlier this year, out of desperation to lose a couple of pounds, I gave it a shot…he dragged me to the box on a Saturday. I cribbed that he was wasting my precious mimosa time but never the less, I went along. And LOVE happened!!!Crossfit Illuminati is now a second home to me. The weights, the bars, the dumb bells, the tire flips, the wall balls…make me cry, make me sweat, make me growl and wince in pain but when it’s done, I feel o top of the world. its not been very long with Crossfit Illuminati but the coaches the very motivating. They are with you through and through. They encourage you not to compete with others – in fact; CF is not about competing with the other person but competing with yourself. If you can lift 30 pounds today – great, lift 30 today. 2 weeks later, even if you can do 35, that’s a personal achievement and it reflects in your body. They do a great job in personally making sure that everyone knows their moves, maintain correct form etc.I am still a beginner at this training program and surely taking baby steps but it’s a definite lifestyle change. Yes, I did lose the few pounds and I do feel fitter and yesss, I still maintain “my thing” of wearing cute clothes  but the personal high I get after a WOD, is unbeatable!
