Dr Small is the finest orthopedic I’ve ever known in my 77 years on Gods earth. He has done great with my problems. I’ve had hip replacements on both hips and then when I displaced my right onev( which another doctor had replaced in 1994 before I met doctor Small) he repaired it did a second right hip replacement and had put on my feet again.He’s also corrected a shoulder problem I had. He has performed shoulder surgery on my husband and replaced our oldest daughters hips as much as he has mine. She inherited my terrible joints.He also perform corrective neck vertebrae surgery on our second daughter. And I could go on. With many members of our family. Brother in law, niece and cousin etc. all have been successful. We’ve never had a problem in all the 20+ years we’ve known him. Wherever his office is we will continue to go to him. We recommend him to everyone. We truly believe he is the best. And he takes time to know his patients and discover any problem. I just saw him today for 6 month check up.Thank you Dr Small. 😉

Dr small is a very cool doctor he took the time to explain my injuries to me and possible treatments in a very no-nonsense type of way very nice doctor very pleasant and easy to talk to and his staff was very nice and personable very clean office.

Dr. Small is a true advocate for the patient! While he has many positive attributes, the most outstanding is his genuine care for his patient. He is not only kind and caring, but also extremely knowledgeable in his field, staying up to date with new advancements and procedures. He looks into many care options advocating for what he believes to be best for the patient and does not rush into surgery. Dr. Small has a great bedside manner and listens to the patient’s and family’s concerns, he monitors your recovery, and extends himself beyond hospital walls. When you are a patient of his, you are family. I feel like I have won the lottery being in Dr. Small’s care.

Dr. Small has quite literally saved my life on more than 1 occasion. He was also the first doctor in 4years to take the time to ask exactly when my pain started and to tell the whole story, which resulted in me finally getting a diagnosis and a plan of action. When Bedside manor and patient advocacy is taught in med school they really should have him wright the text book and teach the corse. He is so patient and compassionate with everyone and will go above and beyond what most doctors do in order to keep you as comfortable as possible before, during and after surgery, as well as on a day by day basis. You absolutely can not go wrong with him as a doctor or surgeon. He is a equally gifted as a doctor and a surgeon. I find myself always comparing other doctors patients, compassion and care to his.

Dr. Small is a truly gifted surgeon. If I were to tell my story it wouldnt fit on this page. I can say I prayed for healing. God answered my prayers by pointing me to Houston TX and right into Dr.Smalls office. After 4 surgerys and 113days in the hospital, when he saw me walk for the first time in almost a year he got emotional. He is a doctor that truly cares about his patients. I can go on and on about how wonderful he and his team have been. You have to experience it to believe it. You wont be sorry. They dont make doctors like him anymore. Despite having to wait on elective surgeries to start again because of COVID-19, it is unfortunate that the doctor himself is so kind and his office staff, particularly Wanda, is a seasoned, passive aggressive representative. Ive received multiple calls from their office and affiliates with appointment mishaps, broken communication from them, and a lack of empathy about my prolonged physical discomfort in general. Book your appointment with caution.

I have been a patient of Dr Henry Small for the last 20 years. I was very happy to learn he has reopened his private practice. Many people don’t know that he has had back surgery himself, so trust me when I tell you he can relate to your pain. Over the last 20 years, I have referred many patients with unremarkable pleasant results and are now living a pain free life. He is an honest easy MD to talk to without a God complex to deal with. Dr Small has often told me he still has a little pain, I told him; that’s because your dr wasn’t as good as mine is! If you have to wait a while in the waiting room, trust me when I tell you, he is worth the wait. I believe I am a patient that has tracked his whereabouts and found where he was working for the last 20 years, that says a lot about what confidence I have in his ability to treat me. This back Doctor is AWESOME!. I came to him for a second opinion and in need of lower back surgery at the diagnosis of another back Surgeon. Dr. Small was personable, knowledgeable and pretty darn competent. He gave me all the time I needed to ask questions, and he made sure that prior to leaving his office I was informed and able to make the right decisions regarding my health and getting better.I would highly recommend meeting with Dr. Small if you are experiencing back pain and are looking for solid medical advice on how to correct it.

Dr. Small is absolutely the best. This 5 star rating doesnt do him justice and he probably saved my husbands life! Hes compassionate and knowledgeable. We were introduced to him to deal with my husbands back pain, he quickly identified some concerns with his lab work and questioned his prior diagnosis of Lupus for which my husband was being treated. It was his knowledge, attention to detail, care, and reaching out to his network of specialist on my husbands behalf that made it possible for my husband to get a correct diagnosis of Systemic Scleroderma. Once the autoimmune disorder was under control, he performed my husbands back surgery which was life changing for the better. Dr. Small is so knowledgeable and empathetic having experienced back pain and surgery himself. We have followed him for 11 years since we were introduced and will continue to do so. He deserves the highest rating and recognition!!!

Dr. Henry Small destroyed my health. He determined I should have a total hip replacement which I took him at his word. The day came for my surgery and my surgery time was 7:00am. He did not show up until after 9:00am and said he had to fix plumbing at his housebefore he came to work. Then during the surgery he got the stem of the ball stuck in the femur bone and could not get it out. So that leg is an inch longer and it has left me issues in my back due to the offset of my legs. If that was not enough, I told him that I had thrown blood clots twice in my life and there was no effort to insure that didnt happen. Fortunately there was a doctor at the hospital that was available and found that two clots landed in each lung and saved my life. I spent 9 days in the hospital rather than 3. My quality of life has suffered. Make sure he covers all possible risks. I didnt and now Im paying for.

After paying $700.00 dollars out of my own pocket last year because he was out of network.I elected to get a PPO plan through Medicare 12-13-2019 so I could come back and on the day of my appointment I was told I would have to pay for the office visit of $200.00 on 2-13-20.While Dr Small is a skilled surgeon I don’t want others to go through what I did. Don’t be fooled by his website where it says Medicare, Aetna and UHC accepted.My advice is don’t bother with the hassle.Call and get someone’s name before you spend over $700.00 for 2 office visits.Don’t believe everything you read.R. I had been in severe pain for months. Getting in and out of bed, my car, a chair all had the oh, here it comes! syndrome. After seeing 2 other doctors and trying to get an appointment for surgery, I was recommended to Dr. Small. Dr. Small and his office manager made an appointment for me on a Saturday to come in discuss what was going on. I had surgery on the following Friday. Its been 6 weeks since I had surgery on my L5S1 lower lumbar area. Today, I am walking, stretching, swimming, and now practicing my golf game hitting short chip shots and putting. I always wanted a friend that was a surgeon. Someone that would care enough to try and really help you. That is Dr Small. He had me come to Houston for a few days so he could give me injections for pain and then had me come back the next day to make sure all the pain was gone. He and his staff were so awesome and efficient. Very friendly. He let me stay way past what a regular visit would be to make sure that he got all the spots of pain. I’ve been dealing with this problem for three years since my accident and have seen countless doctors, none could help. They just threw pills at the problem. Dr Small was my last hope. I have a new lease on life.Highly recommend Dr Small and his staff. So much that I drive 4 1/2 hours each way to see him.

Dr Small and his staff honestly gave me a new start at life. I have been living a pain filled life for so long that I forgot what it felt like to wake up and not be in full knuckle biting pain. Dr. Small literally saved my life not only by doing a complete back rebuild surgery from past failed surgeries. He also saved me from the my PCP who had me on dangerous medications for years that had serious side effects that overtime slowly turned me into a walking zombie. All kidding aside, Dr Small is the best! I truly believe he was put in my life at a time when I needed him the most. It wasn’t by happenstance! I miss being able to see him but not enough to need him again!

I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment with Dr. Small as I was a new patient. My appointment was at 10:30am and 1.5 hours later I walked out as I had not seen the doctor and none of his staff had the courtesy to come in and explain the delay. Actually after waiting One Hour and Ten minutes I open the room door and told the nurse I had been there over one hour. She no concern or apology and said I should be next. Well 20 minutes later, I had enough and left and the front desk staff did not say one word. No apology or anything. Pretty Rude.

I came to Dr. Small after 4 surgeries and a misdiagnosis from another doctor. Dr small was so much more thorough and corrected the problem in one surgery. He also found a staff infection that the other doctor said was cleared up but instead had become so bad it had grown to the size of his fist and had turned into MRSA. Dr. Small is also so friendly and treats you like he has known you personally for years. He spends as much time with you as you need, answering all the questions you may have. He has even texted with me back and forth several times to ease my concerns. Dr Small is also my husbands Doctor and he thinks as highly of him as I do. We would never consider switching.
