My visit with Holly Hurley, Director of Audiology Services at Clarity, was thorough, patient, efficient, and professional. I was very impressed. The whole experience was excellent.

My daughter is 14 and has profound hearing loss in her left ear which has impacted her speech. Shes been seeing Alex Shaw for about 6 months now, and Alex is wonderful. We absolutely adore her. She has an excellent rapport with my daughter, and is always warm and kind to her. After each session, she comes out and updates me on my daughters progress and is specific about which sounds they worked on that day. She is always punctual to the minute, and maximizes the 30 minutes she has with my daughter each week. She is exactly the kind of person youd want to have working with your child, and its obvious to me that she enjoys what she does. She is truly a gem.Additionally, the staff at the reception desk are always friendly as well. I dont know the gentlemans name who works up front, but he always greets us when we arrive and says goodbye when we leave. It may seem like a small gesture, but it doesnt go unnoticed.Lastly, the patient portal is TOP NOTCH. I paid my first bill through the portal today and its honestly the most user-friendly portal Ive ever used. A surprising perk is that I had the option of requesting an email notification when I have an upcoming bill due, and also the option of receiving a reminder if any bills are past due. Sometimes its the small things, but it definitely helps! So, after all that, I 100% recommend Alex and Clarity for speech therapy. Thanks to everyone there for the work they do!

My son was a new patient with clarity and befor we could even be seen we were rescheduled twice, the third time we made a appointment and was able to be seen..we did the speech evaluation testing and it was a quick simple visit. The doctor said someone would call us by Friday (2days time) for the results..a week and a half went by and I got the results in the mail. I read them and my son needs to be seen once a week 60 minutes per session for speech. 2 days after clarity called and we made a appointment for my son to be seen again scheduled the appointment 3 weeks out from the day they called. (One visit over a month and a half my son would have been seen and helped by the doctor that claimed he needed weekly help for a hour a session) anyways. I scheduled the appointment and another week after that I get a call saying they needed me to file new patient paper work (which I had done so on our 1st visit there on testing day)bc they mailed me the new patient paper work..but that he can not be seen without it. And ofcourse that they need to reschedule AGAIN!!! I mean seriously? By now I feel my son is not important to clarity and no one there truly cares about helping my son in any way get the help he needs. What a shame, honestly what a shame.

Last year, I took a young man, whom was like my son, to see Dr. Shands to be tested for dyslexia. Not only did she test him for dyslexia, but she tested him for various other things. We learned so much about his mental health from her. He was also in need of a new counselor for his other MH Disorders. Dr. Shands recommended Ms. Compton. Ms. Compton, by far, was the best counselor he had while he resided with me. She went out of her way to listen to concerns we may have been having in between his weekly sessions and would address them. She seems to genuinely care about her patients, and truly wants whats best for them. I cant recommend Ms. Compton enough for your childs counseling needs.

I unfortunately have not had a very good experience with the audiology department here. My daughter failed her newborn hearing screening at the hospital 3 times so we were referred here. We have had 3 tests with Sally here from birth to 6 months. She is now 8 months old and still does not have a diagnosis from them. I was finally referred to Greenville ENT to see if they could get an accurate reading but they wanted to put my daughter to sleep so I told them that was not an option for me and my family. Sally reluctantly agreed to try the test on my daughter one more time even though we NEVER ONCE had a problem getting her to sleep for the test. I reached out to a few people around our state and successfully found another audiologist who could use the ABR testing system without sedation at Lakeside Audiology in fort mill SC. It only took 1 trip to that audiologist to get testing results from both ears in 1 visit with a perfectly sleeping baby...go figure. I have chosen to just continue our hearing loss journey with Lakeside Audiology as they have exceeded my expectations! I might also mention it takes over a month to get an appoinment with Clarity and I was able to be fit into the schedule within 2 weeks at the other audioloist which is VITAL at this point because my daughter does suffer from mild/moderate hearing loss on one side and a more moderate/sever hearing loss on the other side and will benefit from having hearing aids as soon as possible as she is not currently hearing very much of what we are saying. I am so upset and hurt for my daughter who is the one suffering from all of this! Newborn screening has been set up to detect hearing loss at the earliest possible moment that way treatment and intervention can be initiated right away for the best quality of life and Clarity absolutely dropped the ball for us!

My 15yr old son Spencer was referred for testing and saw Dr. Crane. He and I both were unsure of what to expect and quite nervous as we entered the office but as soon as we walked in we were immediately calmed by the welcoming atmosphere. The receptionist checked us in and then a young lady took my insurance information and payment then we were told to wait in the waiting room and Dr. Crane would be with us soon. I expected to be waiting for a good time but within 5 minutes Dr. Crane was there introducing herself to Spencer and me. She was very personable and quite funny which put Spencer at ease and that put me at ease! She explained the process to both of us and told me to come back around 11:45 to pick him up for lunch and the have him back in an hour for another 1-2 hrs and it would be over. At lunch Spencer talked about how much fun he was having!! Fun!? I was shocked! He actually was having fun taking tests!! He said Dr. Crane was very cool! After lunch I took him back to finish and when I picked him up she said he did well and talked about how much fun they had! She said she would have her assistant set up an appointment when she had the results. 2 weeks later she went over the results with me and for the first time in my sons life I truly understood how his mind works and what he goes through. I finally felt like I could really advocate for him in the proper way! I could fight for the right things in his IEP. I now know my son better. He was tested 4 yrs ago by another Dr but I never understood anything from that testing. I was told by family members that I was wasting money by having this testing done again, I do not regret having it done or spending the money!! The results are different (Ive had them compared) and I never understood the first tests, I understand these mainly because Dr. Crane took the time to explain everything until I was fully content.I would recommend anyone with a child that has a learning disability, emotional, mental, or social delay to call Clarity! And Dr. Crane!

Perhaps a decent audiology practice for children, but my experience with Dr. Sally Whitson was terrible.Update: I was contacted by Dr. Stephen Guryan, executive director and audiologist at Clarity, regarding my initially incomplete review on Clarity. Dr. Guryan was extremely pleasant in his email and seemed to genuinely seek to remedy our negative experience with Clarity. If he performs hearing evaluations, I am confident that he would be far more capable than Dr. Whitson. If not, I am certain he at least has the well-being of his patience and his practice at heart.I recently had to take my son for a hearing evaluation on the recommendation of his Early Interventionist. We were directed to Clarity as the premier audiologist for children in the area. Just prior to our appointment, my son bumped his head in the waiting area and was slightly shaken up. Nothing medically demanding, he just needed a few moments to calm down.We were immediately taken back to the evaluation area. Dr. Whitson was impatient with our son, and demanded we either start the evaluation at once or postpone to another day. My work hours made rescheduling difficult, and our son would have been fine after a few moments. We pressed on with the eval.In the sound booth, Dr. Whitson continuously reminded my wife and I that our son had to sit in our lap and face away from us. He was still upset and wanted to be held. Dr. Whitson was very condescending and refused to let us calm him down before proceeding. When we began the second portion of the test, audio probes had to be inserted into my sons ears. Dr. Whitson was very impatient and frustrated that my son would try to fight this, despite the fact that a 2 year old cannot possibly understand what this stranger was doing to him.At the end of our visit, we were unable to get full results, due to our failure to complete the first part of the test. However, we will not be returning to Clarity for another evaluation. Dr. Sally Whitson has absolutely no bedside manner with children, especially those that may have special needs. If you require a hearing evaluation for your child and are recommended to Clarity, please reconsider, or at least request an audiologist besides Dr. Whitson.
