A really fun community! I love the different areas setup as different parts of our state. The ice cream parlor is a MUST SEE!!! Most importantly, the staff members are very nice and eager to answer any questions!

I never expected the love and care given to my Mom and I while visiting The Haven. I was so impressed with staffs attention to details. The facility was spotless. The residents happy. Lots of hugs. Would be thrilled to call The Haven home.

The staff at The Haven have cared for my Grandfather for the past year...I appreciate all the love & care he has received. Initially we had a hard time deciding where he would live after he was diagnosed with ALZ. A close friend of mine mentioned The Haven...and Im so thankful he did because the place isnt just a after thought or a building with a locked door. Its a home with a giving staff that pays attention to so many things. I dont know if youve read about this awful disease but I promise you it can be very difficult at times and knowing your loved one is being well taken care of means everything! My Grandfather is one of a kind & every day they make sure he knows that!

My grandmother was there for two years. She always needs her walker to walk. She had a bed alarm that would sound when she got out of it. We thought something was wrong so we placed a camera in her room. We have it on video where after getting out of bed for the bathroom, she fell backwards. After a few minutes of alarm going off, two staff members come in to find her on the floor. They just place her back into bed without checking her or reporting the fall.Another time, she again gets up for the bathroom, a nurse comes in and detaches the alarm and leaves out not even turning on the lights for her. She is allowed to strip her bottoms off that are wet by herself. She then is allowed to go back to a urine soaked bed naked to sleep until the morning shift comes in.I take the videos to the Director, Catrina Smith. She said she would look into it. A couple of days later, two different night staff go into grandmothers room and turns the camera around so you can not see what is going on in the room. At that point in time, Ms. Smith was the only one at the Haven who knew where the camera was. I can not prove it but truly feel she told them about the camera.Since she has been there and Five Star bought the place, it has declined. The living area is always dirty. The food is just nasty. They never have enough staff taking care of these people who can not speak for themselves. We moved grandmother out of there. I would not move another loved one there.

Molly, Jenna, Amy, wellness director and especially the nursing staff in Charleston are simply outstanding. They are kind, professional, patient and top notch. My only suggestion is for their day care program (which is marvelous) is that they start earlier like 8:00 am for those caregivers that still work. 9-5 is tough for those of that work and employers have a hard time understanding an employee only working from 9:30 until 4:30.The facility is really great.

I would like to take this time to speak of the wonderful employees of The Haven. I was employed there for a few years and always believed that as long as it was Gods will for me to be there, I would. I also knew that when it was time for my next journey, I would have to move on. During my time there, we did face challenges as all places do, but the team is nothing less than AWESOME!. Dementia is a unfortunate disease BUT with the special people there, the residents are able to have the best possible quality of life. The new RSD, Michael is awesome and an extremely valuable asset to the community. His knowledge and dedication speaks volumes. Dietary Director, Wanda, is also awesome. She works hard to follow the assigned menus provided by the corporation in order to meet state requirements. She goes above and beyond working sometimes weeks without a day off. Amy, Marketing Director not only maintain awesome relationships within the community, she is ALWAYS willing to roll up her sleeves and do what is needed for the well-being of the residents. Activity Director, Heather, is always working hard to keep residents with Alzheimers and related dementia engaged. That task by no means is easy, it is probably the most challenging ever! Molly, Business Office Manager, is top notch. She is very smart, eager to learn, and is always willing to go above and beyond. Each and every Resident Aide, Medication Aide, Dietary Aide, and Housekeeper is awesome and loves the residents in the community. I call that PRICELESS!

I toured the facility for my father a little of a year and half ago. I chose another facility for financial reasons and ended up regretting it within a couple of months. I ended up moving my dad to The Haven and have had no regrets. The other facility kept him sedated to manage his behaviors. He had no quality of life, could not walk, sat in a chair all day. He has been a completely different since moving to the Haven. Different medications, he walks again, attends therapy and is loved. My only regret is that I did not choose the Haven first.

The facility was four stars when we moved dad in and over the last two years with no management and then new management we have no good things to say. The management allows neglect and abuse take place on a daily basis. They do not have properly trained aides in the floor. The last straw for us before we moved him out was he had a fall and we were not notified. We also were finding my dad in wet diapers for over 5 hours even with me demanding his diapers checked every two hours. He also started to loose over 15 pound in a matter of 2 months as they weren’t giving snacks and cutting portions of food to make their budget look good. Don’t risk your famines life there at the Haven

The Haven In the Village-355 Berkmans Lane, Greenville, SC 29605. Well this is my moms third home, and this is by far the worst. Management keeps the place understaffed, and since 5 Star Corp. took over the food is slop. And a choice of salad or egg salad sandwich is not dinner. The lady that does the cleaning is the cook now,and the budget for food is obviously cut down to the least amount possible. I will say when the lady that cleans the rooms is allowed to do only her job, she does a good job. My mom gets a bath about once a week and very often we have had to scream to get her a bath. The rooms are cleaned a few times a month. Director will smile and just do what he wants(Carson Bush), and lie to your face, he says he will go by your wishes for your loved one,but he most certainly DOES NOT.The only time there is a full staff is when it is being shown to family members thinking about placing loved one here,And most the time it only looks like a full because they shuffle people from place to place from all over the grounds.Day Haven day care, Weve not seen anyone watching them for a few weeks now, they just seem to be sent to the tv room and roam wherever, no staff in there with them. There are a few, and I stress few staff that really care for the residents, and families do not have to worry when they are there, because they will work themselves to death for the residents because they truly love them, but they do not and can not work all the time can they. The Drs are not impressive at all, again i stress at all.We have noticed some families have sitters and or lawyers, I and others with family members living/have lived there highly stress hiring sitters and lawyer(s)for your loved one, if you have no other choice but put them in this hell..We like other family members have and are choosing to move them out as quick as possible. We with the other families just call this, HELL!5 Star, please, its not even .0001 star since they(5 Star Corp.) took over...Just truly HELL ON EARTH IN THE VILLAGE at CHANTICLEER in greenville south carolina..and would be willing to bet the rest of their OWNERSHIPS are just as bad. What a horrible way to spend your last days.....
