Mixed signals. Told us that we have to use everything in our power to get accurate locates, but they never do anything to people that abuse the system as calling in locates constantly for the address, and they same type of work. Had one that went months for a foundation, and was still calling in after the walls, roof, windows and doors were on.

Called 811 to make sure i didnt have trees growing over sewer or water lines. Two people came on two different days. One marked the gas line and the other sent in a report stating the obvious that my power lines were overhead. Two months and several phone calls later, i was informed that water lines were the owners responsibility. Im glad it was free because it certainly was a waste of time.

Im a contractor that uses this service multiple times a month. They are very busy but do a decent job of meeting their 3 day deadline to locate. My only issue is 3-5x a year (1 already this year) we hit an unmarked utility causing huge headaches for my clients and me. If they could get tech to spend another 3 minutes on site to verify before leaving it would save thousands in repairs and frustrated contractors and clienrs6.

I needed them to mark utilities for a new fence in our back yard. Comcast and Century Link were fine. However, 2 of the utility companies wouldnt go into the yard because the gate opens from the inside. I thought contacting colorado811.org was giving my permission to enter my yard and provide this service. So I contacted them. When you call them (expect a long wait), you have 2 options:1) a 3-day window where your gates are left OPEN (if you have an inside opening gate, it must be OPEN, some utilities will not reach over and open it!).2) schedule a time to meet them, which they wont guarantee.I cant be the only person who is uncomfortable leaving their gate OPEN (meaning open for anyone to see that it is open). The lady who I talked with gave her quick speech and I asked her to repeat it. It said You have an appointment to meet them at 4:30pm but are not guaranteed this time.Last concern, I tried calling these 2 utilities directly and was told you must go through colorado811.org. Very frustrating. Some people work during the day and cannot be available for 3 days to open an unlocked gate. Very frustrating when you have a contractor coming to start work in a couple of days.

I have had to put in 2 locate request because the locate contractor that is used by 2 of the local utilities companies either goes to the wrong house or claims they had no access to the area. My project keeps getting delayed because of this one locate contractor that keeps closing out my ticket with an unable to locate status. Am i going to keep having to submit a new dig request every time that one company cannot do the locate?! Im beyond fed up with the whole process.

Poor form. Locator Luke arrived unannounced then left after an incorrect conversation with someone who was not the the person who requested the locate. He then came back and the was unable to locate anything we needed because “it was on private property.” Was told to call utilities company who still was unableTo provide full information. Reported incorrect information on the ticket. It now must get resubmitted.

I asked for 2 areas to be located, only 1 was done. And only by power company, the utilitiessaid in emails. They didnt believe or werent in the areas. Then they took pictures of the 1 site, and and a double gate I had locked. When the access gate on the garage side wastotally open. My dogs were inside, also one utility said they were there on a Sunday. I washome all that day, no one ever showed up. Notwhat to do now, are the markings correct, or just for show. And for the one site where nothing is marked, I cant dig.

It would be helpful if the individual that records the outgoing message that includes the website for requesting a ticket speak slowly when recording the web address and then repeat it, so I can write it down and use the website to request a ticket instead of waiting on hold .

Worked with CO 811 many times, from locates, to ticket confirmation/ help, questions about everything from legality, to help with the Ticket Management System. People dont understand that this is the Center that contacts the owner/ operators of the facilities, they dont control what happens when the locators go out to a site. Thanks 811,Eric H. with CWS

Only the electric company showed up. Dont waste your time with this. I had to leave my gate unlocked for a week and only one person showed up. What a joke. Why do they even advertise. Meanwhile as we wait the trees we need to plant are struggling.

This free service saved my fence company from damaging service lines daily for years. What a no-brainer! call before you dig, know where the lines are! The staff members both in-house and field techs are all working to make your job/life easier. I dont understand why anyone wouldnt use this service anytime you need to dig a hole. The safe feeling of knowing where potentially dangerous lines were is immense. Now, if they could only tell us about sprinkler lines, lol~

811s contractor Olameter came out to mark the site unscheduled with no warning. Didnt tell me prior that they needed to have access to the gas meter, which is in my neighbors yard. Just came, saw back gate was locked, knocked on the door and left. Didnt call, just emailed afterward. Not at all helpful on the phone. Wanted me to do another ticket. They later called me and got it fixed, and came back the same day, and made it right.

We did call the 811 people, they came out and marked our yard for cables and where not dig. The first hole we dug hit the TV/phone cables :D :D Note:we were digging in a spot that was not marked as having cables near. Kind of like they weren’t even trying...

1 star reviewThis complaint is directed at the actual locate company that Colorado811 uses. Needed to get a locate done. The locator showed up on the 5th day after I scheduled. My dog was outside for a morning bathroom break behind a wireless dog fence. I was not given any prior warning to when they would be coming. Person drove up, were here 35 seconds (I saw them on video camera), they saw dog, cancelled appointment and drove off without knocking, honking horn, or calling my phone (they had number). I was inside getting my kids ready for school. The chocolate lab was behind wireless fence and was not anywhere near where they would be marking. After spending an hour on the phone trying to figure out what was going on, I talked to the locate tech and they basically said that 811 should have notified me when they were coming and said they wouldn’t come back. After waiting 5 days for the locate, I then had to recreate a noncompliant ticket. 811 told me that the tech was required to come back same day. They never came back. 2nd day after creating new ticket, still a no show.Locate company really cares………4 star review - UpdatedCO 811 called me after I posted this review and talked to me about it, which was greatly appreciated. Hopefully it all gets resolved. Still a 4/5 because I havent gotten the locate yet.

The online ticket express is an easy way to get your underground utilities marked. Its free and easy to use. You would be foolish to risk doing any digging before you get your utilities marked!

When you call 811, sometimes you are on hold for over an hour. Last time I called, the operator was very rude and impatient with me, and hung up in the middle of the call. Im sure being an operator can be stressful, but that doesnt mean you have a right to be rude to callers.
