We always have a great experience when working with Hands of The Carpenter. Merrill Automotive donated a car to Hands in August and it couldn’t have been any easier. Love the way our community is working together for each other. Thank you Hands of The Carpenter!

I donated our old family van to Hands of the Carpenter. They were a pleasure to work with and the process was seamless. I had thought about selling the van, but giving it to an organization that can help someone was worth much more than what I might have made from selling it. Our old van is now giving someone in need new hope. Please consider donating your old car. It can make a tremendous difference is someone’s life.

I had an older car that I wanted to get rid of but selling it didnt feel right. Someone told me about Hands and how they were a Christian company that help women in need of cars. I was really excited and felt that this was what I was supposed to do with my car. They were great and made the donation super easy! They even towed it for me because it had been over heating. They were able to sell it to raise money for parts for other cars. Great company. Awesome mission. God bless!

I love that Hands of the Carpenter actually helps people rather than simply selling vehicles, taking the money, and maybe giving some away like many such charities do. Hands actually works with moms to help them out and get them a vehicle they can use. Even vehicles like mine which they sell support the moms directly.

We chose to donate our 2002 MINI to Hands of the Carpenter because we liked their approach of getting reliable transportation directly into the hands of needy women by undertaking repairs before providing the cars to their clients. However, because the MINI was a 5-speed, and most of their clients need automatics, they ended up selling the car and using the proceeds for their requirements. But we were OK with that because we also wanted to help a charity with minimal overhead, where the donation value would be used almost entirely for those in need. The donation process was simple--we drove it to their offices and signed over the title. That was it! They even offered to have it towed if it wasnt drivable, but we wanted to save them the tow cost, so chose to drive there instead. They seem like really good people, and I am glad we chose Hands of the Carpenter!

A fantastic organization, doing what Jesus has commissioned us to do: Love your Neighbour. I came across the company on radio talk show 94.7 KRKS many years ago and was impressed with what they were doing. The impact they are making in our Colorado community stuck in my head, then many years later I had a car that I needed to get rid of. I immediately looked them up and offered my car for donation. The process is of course so easy to do. Giving is not only a duty I believe we all have but it sure brings rewards as well. What a wonderful experience to be able to help others enormously with only a small gift on our part. If you are reading this and thinking of buying a new car, consider donating your old one. The “credit” you may get at your dealer is in comparison so insignificant compared to the help you give to those single women that need a helping hand.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! This is a top notch organization. I have donated cars to other non-profits in the past - and 99% of them merely throw the car up on the auction block and you receive a fraction of the value of the car for tax purposes. Not so with Hands of the Carpenter - they go the extra mile, take the extra time to maximize the cars value - providing fixed up, reliable transportation for someone in need AND granting me a maximum charitable donation. A true win-win. Super easy transaction, and delightful, caring people to work with.

Great people doing great work. The fact that they fix up and provide our vehicles to those who need them, rather than selling them at auction, means that the size of your tax deductible donation is larger in that you may write off the fair market value of the vehicle rather than the proceeds received at auction, which generally are a fraction of the vehicles value. The people doing the work could not be more professional or helpful throughout the entire process.

Shalom friends,We are the Fraziers. We learned about Hands of the Carpenter on Christian radio. What attracted us to the ministry of Hands is their heart for women / families. Helping them to get back on their feet and assertively re-establish themselves into society. My wife and I prayed and agreed that wed love to donate one of our cars to Hands. It was a wise choice and from start to finish a very smooth process. Brenda was our contact person and she even came out to our home and picked up the car. We received a follow up EZ contribution Tax Certificate as well as a note of thanks from the recipient. As if that wasnt enough we also received a letter of thanks from the ministry director. Hands of The Carpenter is a true expression of Gods love towards those in dire need. We are honored to be Hands Champions and will recommend this ministry to all of our friends and family. Thank you Hands and may the blessings of God continue in your efforts to bless so many.

Our donation experience with Hands of the Carpenter was extremely easy. We had a car that out children had used in high school and college, but we no longer needed it. It was in good running condition, in fact we used it for commuting up until the day we donated it. We thought about trying to sell it ourselves, but it needed shocks and didnt want the hassle and uneasiness associated with meeting strangers. Hands of the Carpenter made it so easy. I simply dropped off the car and they even gave me a ride back to where I needed to go. Above all, their mission to help single women in the community really struck a chord with us and we used the donation as part of our giving commitment. Above all, they sent us a short video of the recipient of the car expressing her thanks for the car, making the donation very personal and all the more satisfying. I cannot recommend Hands of the Carpenter highly enough.

This company does NOT give vehicles to women in need!! They claim to be a non profit that assists women in need with vehicle transportation from vehicles donated to them but what they do not publicly share is that they charge these woman 35% of Kelly Blue Book value on the vehicle and the women have to have full funds up front before they are approved for the vehicle, there is no payment options. They take vehicles that were given to them, put a few dollars in them and sell them to woman? Also what they don’t mention is that they are getting vehicles donated daily and they place maybe 3 a month to woman, the other vehicles go to auction, the scrap yard or the nicer vehicles are put on the lot to be sold to the public at full KBB value. They claim that all the proceeds go back into the program to help woman but if you are only placing 3 vehicles a month out of 30+ and making 35% of the vehicles that are placed and money from auction, scrap and vehicle sales where is the remainder? They also run a full mechanic shop that charges $110 a labor hour plus part mark up for the public that brings in a fairly good profit every month, they also receive countless cash donations from local organizations and churches, fundraisers, ext. every month. BG donates all additives and specialty equipment/tools for the placement vehicles, local part stores donate parts, oil, ext. NAPA donates countless tools and carts for the shop. They also have a program to help women get their vehicles fixed for 50% of the total bill which sounds like a great deal but they neglect to mention that they still have part mark up which ranges from 25-35% per part and they charge half their labor so even at 50% off they are still making a small profit. They have partner shops that volunteer labor and free parts to fix what is needed on certain donate vehicles to be placed but still charging the woman 35% when they pay nothing for parts or labor, they have volunteer teams come in every month to fix the donate vehicles or if they are to busy to get caught up on public or program vehicles they have the volunteer teams fix them without the customer knowing most times and still charge for labor. This company is so busy trying to do public vehicle repairs that they neglect fixing and placing donate vehicles to women in need. This shop pulls in more money a month than most other local shops do and they have less overhead, how they still legally fall under non profit Is questionable. I encourage anyone who is thinking of donating their vehicle for a good cause to take a deeper look into how these type of companies/organizations work and if they are actually for a good cause

Thank you John for posting, and I am confirming your comments. What I have noticed is companies using a non-profit entity without the obligations as a non-profit. I came to this organization referred by Family Tree. Started the intake on June 4th. Waited and waited. Finally someone called and wanted me to send 1) proof of registration, 2) drivers license 3)and proof of insurance. I scanned and emailed these items BEFORE even meeting in person, which still concerns me that they have personal identifiable information. During the intake it was really stressed, and stressed again about how much money I have, and that I would have to have enough money to pay the mechanic. I asked how much would I be expected to pay and the intake personnel stated she did not know, without seeing the car. I told her I would probably use my credit card that had about $600, she said that sounded enough. Last time I checked, many women in need usually do not have a line of credit for $600.00 and that is why programs like Family Tree refer those to services that are supposed to offer low cost assistance, esp after hearing how much assistance with supplies and inventory, free staffing, etc, etc.Waited some more. 2 weeks later someone calls and asks if I sent proof of registration, told them I sent it already, they then ask me if i still need their services, (as if the car fixed itself), I said yes and then she sets me up for an inspection. Im then told that the inspection is in Golden, and that they are very far away and was I sure I wanted to drive all the way out there? The method of deterrence that was used worked. In summary: 1) I wasted a lot of time 2) I sent personal identifiable information without getting any services 3) I was deterred by lagging response, pressured to require extensive financial resources, and nature of car emergency repair which resulted in going somewhere else. I could not wait any longer. Due to the fact I delayed the (potentially dangerous) brake issue in my car, it ended up costing me more money, because i kept waiting, waiting for this company to respond. The mechanic in Englewood told me had I bought it in when I asked Hands of C for assistance the only repair wouldve been shoes/pads. Ended costing replacement of rotors, pads and calipers. AWARENESS FACTOR: Donating to Charities-please please be aware of who donate to. Do your research. Many citizens donate thinking that this goes to those in need, but instead it goes to non-profit pockets (operational costs) doing the bare minimum to pass as a non-profit. Luckily the non-profit world is somewhat close knitted, and Ive already told Family Tree about this scam-like practice and do not recommend or refer anyone to any of their services. Hope everyone becomes aware. It really is sicking when we find out our donated funds are corruptly allocated. If they get all this assistance that John enumerated on, why are they asking women upfront money? Why? Wonder if this will get deleted?
