Oftentimes residents ask for referrals to a local dentist. Meet Dr. Andrew Mortensen. His office is on Brookhurst (south of Ellis) next to Marie Callendars, in FountainValley. He and his very friendly staff, Katie Ledesma and Jackie will treat you like family. Two years ago, I mentioned to Doc that the cabinets could do with a lick of paint. He told me yesterday that another patient also brought that to his attention. He took it to a new level, had the whole place painted, plus replaced all the flooring. It looks and feels so meticulous (thats what you want at a dentist office). Such good people. Want a healthy mouth with a beautiful smile? Look no further. Highly recommend.

I had veneers done on all teeth more than 20 years ago in Beverly Hills by the dentist who was most commonly referred to as the dentist to the stars. As a result, dental professionals are basically looking at a small Mercedes-$$$$ in my mouth. With the wrong dentist, this can be a real problem.Ten years ago, my former dentist in O.C. (who did NOT do my veneers) insisted that my veneers needed to be replaced as soon as possible. He went so far as to say that he detected a cavity behind my front tooth! which, he went on to warn, meant that my veneer could pop off any old time.I was freaked out, BUT before signing on for all new veneers (his ONLY solution), I decided to have a consultation with other dentists. Among others, based on reputation awards, reviews, etc., I consulted with Dr. Mortensen (ten years ago now).Am I EVER glad I did: not only did he reassure me that my veneers were ALL totally intact and that there was NO cavity, he also remarked that they would probably last many more years! I wasnt his patient at that time. Nonetheless, he charged me nothing for his time and expertise for the consultation! Needless to say, I became his patient then and there.Fast forward many years, COVID struck! And...for the first time in 22 years, I bit on something very hard in JUST the wrong way...and a front veneer popped off!!I called Dr. Mortensens office and left a message. The SAME day, I received a return call to let me know that he could be available the next day to fix my broken veneer!Now my daughter had glued (yes!!) my veneer back on with Crazy Glue! Dr. Mortensen had a look at my glued-in veneer and relieved my anxiety by joking that my daughter hadnt done a bad job!! LOL!!!He then proceeded to remove the glued-at-home veneer with NO damage and went through the many steps necessary for seating a veneer properly, AND he was expert enough to fix the tooth using my own veneer!!! The charge for all his work in the middle of a COVID lockdown was lower than anyone has so far been able to guess!This man is not only THE most competent dental practitioner you will ever be lucky enough to find but he is also honest, fair, caring and direct in all ways that a superb doctor needs to be... but often isnt! If there were infinite stars I could give him, I would!!His hygienists and other staff are equally outstanding professionally (Sue is mine!) and truly CARE! As you may imagine most have been with this dentist for many years and its no mystery why!!One of my best friends--who is beyond picky, picky, picky-- was shopping for the best possible dentist to do her new veneers. I referred her to Dr. Mortensen; she says she is grateful to me and totally thrilled with the results and is now his patient as well.Make an appointment as soon as he can see you! This is your lucky day !

Couldnt have been better. Several years ago he did a beautiful porcelain 6 tooth bridge that I get compliments on to this day. Absolutely amazing! Every time I’ve gone to Dr. Mortensen it’s been a good experience from cleaning appointments to cosmetic work. Dr. Mortensen is a cosmetic artist! I recently took my 13 year old to rebond his front teeth that he chipped a few years ago, they were discolored and not aesthetically pleasing. He has given my son his confidence back and a beautiful smile. I also had cosmetic work done and love my smile! Dr. Mortensen is phenomenal! The girls are so kind and welcoming. The very best dentist. I used to live in southern California but have since moved to Washington state. I have yet to find a dentist as wonderful! He and his staff are so kind, knowledgeable, full of integrity (they dont tell you to get extra stuff you dont need), and gentle. Also his work is amazing. I had several fillings done by Dr. Mortensen and my hygienist in Washington couldnt even tell where until I told her I had several and she looked at the x-ray!

I went to Dr. Mortensen for many years and for the first 10 years or so I thought he was very good. However in the last 5 years that I went there I had problems with my bite that he could not fix and so I was in a lot of pain when I tried to eat. He did try different things - grinding some teeth down a little, etc, but it didnt help.I finally went to another dentist for an opinion and he - was shocked at the state of my teeth. There were many teeth with decay under the crowns, many cracked teeth that I did not know about - now I am paying a LOT of money to have these problems fixed because I am retired and no longer have dental insurance.My current dentist even said that some of the things Dr. Mortensen did to my teeth were not even accepted dental practices. I always assumed that Dr. Mortensen knew what he was doing and did his best. I was shocked and completely disappointed that he did not take good care of my teeth.He is a very nice man, and his staff is very nice, but it seems that he either was a good dentist who went downhill, or he wasnt a good dentist and I wasnt aware of it.

I was just researching Yelp reviews for general dentistry and realize how valuable a resource Yelp can be. I wanted to express my satisfaction for the cosmetic dentistry that Dr. Mortensen did. My insurance did not cover any portion of this work since it was cosmetic, but I am extremely pleased with his artistry. Unfortunately my insurance is an HMO and Dr. Mortensen is not a provider, otherwise, I would be going there for my general dentistry as well.

Wow, where to even begin? I cant recommend Dr. Mortensen strongly enough. A few weeks ago, I had a infection that stemmed from very poorly done dental work from a different dentists office. Dr. Mortensen is highly rated for a reason, and though I was a new patient calling for an appointment at the last minute his staff found me a time to be seen. Actually, two appointments: one for the emergency, and one to repair the bad fillings the very week I called.The staff at Dr. Mortensens office was professional, kind, and so, so helpful from the start. They treated me like Id been going there for years. They were honest with me with everything from timing to pricing.Dr. Mortensen himself would be enough to warrant a five star rating. He is a very nice doctor who takes the time to explain (and explain again) what hes doing and what I was seeing on the screen. His bedside manner is impeccable, something which influences his techs and staff as well. He was honest yet professional about the state of my old fillings and was speedy and thorough in fixing them. I cant believe how kind he was: we originally thought I only needed to have 2 or 3 redone, but when he got in there, he needed to do all 4. And he gave me my fourth filling for free as a wedding gift! Im not kidding.My only regret is that my husband and I moved away to start jobs in another state, and I cant keep seeing Dr. Mortensen! I wish I could; after the pain and frustration with my poorly done work two years ago, Dr. Mortensen not only fixed my issues but showed me that excellent and gently dental care truly does exist!

If it did go through you can pick the one you want to read, as I doubt if this one would be word for word.To say that I loved my experience with doctor Mortensen is an oxymoron. I was six when I experienced my first dental experience. It was painful and that was pretty much the same for the next sixty-five years. I am not saying that all dentists are bad. Actually, I have had several very good dentist over the years, however, I am one of those patients that are very difficult for any dentist.It had come to the point that I had to do something about my teeth. After putting it off for over three years, having the sides of my mouth cracked, red and sore, constant tooth pain, talking with my hand over my mouth and never smiling I went online to see if I could find a dentist. After reading about doctor Mortensen I sent an email. I heard back immediately and made my first appointment.After the examination doctor Mortensen spent well over an hour with me. After explaining his opinion of what he would recommend as a plan of treatment, he did the most unusual thing. He listened to me, to what I wanted to do. After years of caps, roots canals, extractions, bridges, the pain and expense of it all, I just could not do it again. After the second appointment with me and my husband the plan was set into motion.Doctor Mortensen is the second most important man in my life. He laughs when I say that, however, if it were not for him I would still be suffering with six to seven migraines a month. There have been many months when I would only have six or seven days without being in bed. He aligned my bite to fix the TMJ that was adding to the migraines. My migraines are now down to one or two a month. I would strongly suggest that even if you have perfect teeth and you suffer from migraines, make an appointment. He might be able to help, without even having to do anything to your teeth.It has been nine months from beginning to end and now I have no pain, a beautiful smile (although it did not help the wrinkles) and I talk without my hand over my mouth. I would be almost positive that my husband is not embarrassed to be seen with me (although he never said anything). Oh by the way it was way easier than labor, lol.Doctor Mortensen and his fabulous staff will never really know how much they have changed my life. The saying Words cant say enough will never be more true.With the most sincere, THANK YOU!Dee Durbin
