I had double inguinal hurnea Surgery and after much searching I decided to do the no mesh with Dr. Robert Tomas. The office staff was professional and very caring, the doctor is brilliant and five days later I am doing excellent. From day one after the procedure I went to the nearby Hilton Garden Hotel and stayed there for a few days. I was able to walk from the car to my hotel room with no problem and walked throughout the first day every hour for 15 minutes. The more you walk the less the pain you feel. Pain was only level one or two the first day and then the next two days maybe level two or three pain which was very manageable with painkillers Motrin. I did not need any Percocet and after the fourth day my pain level was one and I could start to feel my stomach muscles again. I highly highly recommend this type of procedure as opposed to the mesh which many of my friends have had many problems years later. If you have any questions I would be happy to talk to anyone about this procedure, just ask Dr. Thomas’s office for my number.Christos Daskalakis

Rude! Nasty! Insensitive! This staff is too arrogant! I googled somewhere local. I told the woman. Due to the distance, I could not utilize the service. The response ENJOY YOUR MESH, THATS ALL YOUR GONNA GET”!!! Instilling fear of death on me in forms of harm of Mesh is the only treatment without UFIRST and just such WITH a nasty attitude. Sounds like basement doctors! New ideas, new treatments, always end up on TV just like Mesh. Have you ever used U First Health, class action suit call 1800. You are next just OFF the attitude! Your treatment is unproven and not 100% guaranteed!

Hello! I wanted to wait a few months after my Hernia repair before I gave a review.. First, the facility is well equipped and service is outstanding. After visiting three other Doctors for mesh repair, i decided to give Desarda a try. My only hesitation was, would Desarda method hold up once stitches dissolved and how long would it last. Anyway, based on the fact this method has been in use for several years, and reoccurrence was 1% , as with mesh. The surgery: went fine, and pain was minimal until the next day.. Day 2: Very painful!! Day 3: 50% pain. Day 4 doctors visit: felt good, pain 25%, first swelling later that night. Day 5: more swelling, by night time swelling started to reduce and still painful when moving in bed, and walking, pain level 25%. So pain remains for another 6 weeks, but minimal and swelling where incisions were made are half size. Fast forward, march 9th, i still have finger sized thin swelling at incisions, some pain if too much pressure from underwear band. I expect the remainder of swelling to reduce and will be gone soon. Otherwise, all is well! If there are any negative changes, i will post them. Stay safe!!

First and foremost, this was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. I was diagnosed with a hernia by a Urologist and then went to one of the top doctors for Hernia’s at Rush Hospital in Chicago and they acted like they didn’t give a sh!t. He was acting like a big shot making it seem easy peasy. “You’re a big guy, big mesh, you’ll be back at work in a week NO PROBLEM”. I came out of the consult like dag this dude is trying to sell me on something. As if the universe knew what journey I was going to embark on, I started seeing ads on tv, on IG, everywhere for lawsuits for mesh. I asked a few people and they were saying how it’s been a night mare since they had the mesh. So I looked for another way and found the Shouldice Hospital. There fees were $6,000 but I had to lose 130lbs to even get the surgery. So I started jumping rope every day and I indeed lost 20lbs but my hernia got worse. Every time I jumped I felt like I had to urinate. So I said man at this rate I will never have this surgery. So on my surfing reviews and stories of people with the Shouldice method I notice people complaining of pain post-op. So I called them up and they said that the leave a stainless steel suture in there and that’s what maintains the hernia. That was an automatic cancel. Back to the drawing board. Then I read about Desarda randomly and found Dr. Tomas. I saw videos of guys my size getting surgery, hernias far worse than mine. I had before and after photos somewhere on the internet. I knew this was it. I called up right away. They worked things out. Nancy was a great assistance getting me scheduled. I had a convention in Miami to go to and gave her the wrong dates. She rescheduled me with no problem. I went to my convention, had my fun and drove up to Fort Myers. I stayed at a beautiful AirBnB in Cape Coral. Such an amazing and relaxing town. I went in for my consult, everything was fine and dandy. The PA was highly helpful and reassuring. Dr. Tomas came out, super humble, super willing to help a brother out who traveled all the way from Chicago to Miami to come get this surgery. He appreciated me coming from so far and expressed it. Talking to him was far different than the big shot doc from Rush Hospital in Chicago. He cared about how I felt about getting the surgery and also assured my concerns. His staff, Brenda and the super funny Ashley were very caring and professional. They got me hot tea and sugar, had me cracking up. There’s nothing more amazing than having an entire staff turn the roughest 9months dealing with this level of a condition into a joyous occasion. Day of the surgery everything from top to bottom was explained to me. I went into the room and before I even put my arm down on the table I was knocked out. Next thing I’m being rolled out with “hey you did great”. It’s like nothing happened. My mom who was with me said it seemed like I was in there for twenty minutes. I had a huge hernia and now it’s gone. Every day I felt improvement. My pain was manageable with Ibuprofen 800mg and some other natural meds. I’m not a pain meds junky and I requested not having any narcotics and he was totally fine with that. Today is exactly 2.5 weeks since I had my surgery and I feel nothing ever happened. I feel 100% back to normal. My scar is almost invisible mind you I scar horribly, it’s like nothing happened. I’m beyond ecstatic. I never leave reviews. I sat down for thirty minutes writing this from the heart. Dr. Tomas, you are the man. Your philosophy aligns with mine and that’s why God sent me to you to do this treatment. You have amazing staff from, Nancy to Brenda, Ash and the PA. You guys saved my life. This thing would’ve orCould’ve been my demise.

Had hernia surgery yesterday. I am scared sick of doctors but this experience was amazing my first ever. The staff is amazing and the surgery a breeze. I will follow the rules but have minimum pain today and ready to get back in the game. Thank you Dr Robert Tomas and staff. I wish I had done this months ago.

I drove 10 hours on broken hips and with my left leg missing because he assured me he could help. I paid ahead of time in full ($3900.00) and spent over $5,000.00 for lodging, food, and gas and because of the intensity of the pain I experience just existing is a challange.Dr. Thomas asked me if I sent him photos which tells me he did not even LOOK at the things I sent him. There is no way I would have put myself in this much pain, brought my oldest daughter to my home from 3 hours away so she could stay with 5 year old twin boys for 3 weeks and spent as much money as I did to get to Ft Myers if he had just one time said he was uncertain of the surgery. I feel like they should reimburse me for my actual expenses. At this point Im not pursuing any punitive damages but my attorney will be sending them a letter with an itemized record of money wasted on this trip.Dr Thomas, BJ, I was trusting you. I was excited by the promise of being given some relief from this hernia. Please do the right thing here. Living on SSD Im on a tight spot with just the normal costs of living - much less almost 10 k total. You refunded my surgery ($3900) but almost $5000. on top for lodging food gas and incidentals.Just my experience. What a nightmare.

So glad I did my research and just said NO TO MESH!I had bilateral inguinal hernia repair, one direct and one indirect.Surgery in clinic 9-25-19. Dr Tomas discovered my abdominal wall was blown out and rebuilt it in clinic, no GA (general anesthesia) and I didnt have to wait for the hospital admission.Dr. Tomas expressed that he could do these in his sleep and I believe him 100% He has the Desarda Method mastered.Their cooperation with SpingHill Suites by Marriot is a true convenience for those of us flying in to Ft Meyers. The shuttle tot u0026 from the airport and to u0026 from each appointment - takes a lot of stress away. They give you a smoothie post surgery with protein powder. Their breakfast has raw spinach and eggs for recovery.TIPS:1) Use the couch, the bed is too high and hurts bad to get in u0026 out of.2) Have them cut Lidocaine patches in office if flying in and cant bring scissors.3) I used Docusol Mini Enima 5 pack from RiteAid just hours before day 2. I had a bowel movement in minutes and one self-triggered movement hours later. I had to do it again on day 3, same result. I had been using psyllium husk and magnesium citrate to no effect prior to that.4) iced the unit, it swole up, with thin dress sock and unfrozen gel pack.PAIN level was 1-2 first 3 days post op. EXCEPT when getting in/out of that tall bed where pain level went to 5 or 6 and took time to subside.I flew out on day 2 which set healing back.

Just had my inguinal hernia repaired on Friday(5 days ago).Very good experience. Professional staff. They all seem to know what they are doing.Everything went on schedule.Place leaves an impression of a really successful business.Dr Tomas answered all my questions before and after the surgery. They work with caregiver Pamela Berkemeier. They told me she would treat me like I was her son and that was true. She is also very professional.Showed me everything I needed to know, made a schedule for my medicines. She even bought me lunch on our way from clinic to hotel because I didnt have my cc with me.Also Pamela suggested a few tips that made my first days after surgery almost painless. Thanks Pam!!! On Wednesday my incision looks like a little scratch. No bruising or swelling.Just walked about 2 miles with minimal discomfort. Will do another post in a few month but for now its better than I expected.Fairfield Inn is a good place to stay in this circumstances. They will drive you around. If you traveling alone they will even carry your bags to the airport(you can not lift anything heavy after surgery)They have more reviews if you google Robert Tomas Ft Myers//////////////////////////////So I cant leave another review under the same name thats why Im editing this one. Its August( I had my surgery 4th or 6th of January) now and even the scar is almost gone. I was fully back to my workout routine in March. Took me some time to regain my shape but now I do my hundred pushups almost every day. I do intense running on a sand, work punching bag and other hard cardio and stamina exercises. Like nothing ever happened. Thanks again Dr Tomas. Flying from Chicago was worth it
