I loved going to Betty at first. But then a couple of weeks ago I got a fill and shortly after I got COVID. She doesn’t wear and mask and when I asked her to get tested to know if she gave it to me, she did it about 5 days after I asked. She then got very defensive about me asking if she could wear a mask and she told me I should find a new lash technician.

Bought a deal on Groupon, saw Betty had pretty decent reviews online but will NEVER go to her again/NEVER recommend anyone to go to Betty aka Studio Zen for eyelash services. My first appointment:I called and made the appointment. I arrived on time but waited at her door for several minutes (her studio is in her home). Betty answered her door in her nightgown and had obviously just rolled out of bed. She explained that her schedule was off because her husband was home/she forgot to put me in her scheduling app. We got started after having to wait for her to get dressed and take her dogs out. She seemed nice during that first appointment so I was willing to give her the benefit of doubt because we’ve all had that kind of day.At the end of the appointment, I noticed my right eyelashes were crooked/messy looking. She blamed my fine lashes for it and said, “I wish it looked better but it looks like you have on great mascara!” What an odd thing to say because I might as well spend my money on great mascara if her product/service didn’t look better than mascara, right?. She just brushed me off about the right eye. I even purchased her eyelash care kit and gave her a tip and got scheduled (for real this time) for my fill.My eyelashes IMMEDIATELY fell out even though I was diligent about taking care of them and using her little kit.Second appointment for fill:I arrived 2 min late and I felt bad (I’m a stickler for being on time) but as I pulled up, so did Betty. She was at the grocery store and needed to unload some bags but told me to wait in her studio to get started. We chatted for a little while, I told her how my eyelashes didn’t stick/fell out fairly quickly and we got started. Shortly after, her cat jumped on my lap during the appointment (I’m allergic) and it was just an entirely uncomfortable time. Betty worked on filling in my lashes but she was pressing on my right eye/crumpling the new lashes she just put in and it dawned on me as to why my right eye was all messed up in the first place. After the 5th time, I let her know that she was pressing down on my right eye too hard and she blamed it on the angle of my eyes. Several times, I flinched as she ripped out my actual eyelash. As the end of the appointment approached, she nonchalantly says, “I wish we had more time, I didnt realize how much fallout you had or I would’ve scheduled you another 15 minutes but you can schedule another fill (which I wouldve had to pay for).” I declined at that point and told her that I wanted to wait and see how these would hold up and I would call her after I thought about it more because I wasn’t sure if I liked her service. How much of my time did she waste while I waited for her to get dressed and put groceries in? She said she understood but her attitude immediately changed after that. She got nasty pretty quick. My eyes ended up being glued shut (top lashes were glued to my bottom lashes) and I couldnt open my left eye (I was able to pry open my right). She tried to “help” but ended up ripping out several of my eyelashes out. I was shocked and said “I wasnt expecting to LOSE eyelashes during this appointment.” And she replied in a very sarcastic tone, “it was just the one, dear” (not including the several she ripped out earlier in the appointment). This woman is not a professional. This is a hobby she does out of her home and gives very poor service and does not care about customer service/quality. She spent most of her time telling me about her cake business. Studio Zen has given me so much more anxiety than “zen.” I was so uncomfortable and tense during both appointments.I will sum this up with this: don’t waste time or money here. It’s a nightmare being in Betty’s chair.Oh and she does not wash hands before services and does not wear a mask.

I have been getting my lashes done by Betty for years and she’s amazing. I love getting long lashes and I get so many compliments! I had a slight reaction recently and she was responsive and kind and gave me advice on how to handle it. The lash studio, no matter where you go, cannot predict if you will have a reaction or cure it when you do. But she did everything she could to help and it cleared up no problem. Definitely going back!

I went to have a a full set of lashes done by Betty and had to ask her to stop before she finished because she was making me uncomfortable by pressing her hands onto my face and yanking on my lashes. Betty got defensive when I said she was hurting me and making me uncomfortable, so I told her I just wanted to pay and I left with lashes that were about 3/4 finished. If she had shown any concern at all instead of being defensive and angry, I would have gladly spoken with her about what was wrong, but I just wanted to get out of there, so I paid and left.I have had lashes applied dozens of times and I’ve never had anyone press their hands down on my face as they worked, which she did the entire time, pressing down on my cheeks, nose, and lips. In addition to pressing on my face, she put her hand on my forehead and leaned on me every time she reached down to pull something from a drawer. In general, she just wasn’t “zen” at all as she was banging the drawer as she closed it, brushing the edge of her tools across my forehead and face as she moved her hands back and forth, and bumping into my head with her body.I’ve also never been hurt while having lashes applied, but she made me jump twice by yanking on my lashes. The first time, she didn’t say anything when I jumped, so I said, “that hurt,” and she said, “just a little tug,” in a sing song voice. I was honestly speechless and decided to just breathe my way through the rest of the application and go elsewhere to have my lashes filled. Unfortunately, she pulled on the same lashes a few minutes later, and I jumped again. That time, I said, “I need you to stop,” and she said, “I BARELY touched you.” At that point, I didn’t want her touching me anymore, so I sat up and said, “Nobody has ever hurt me when applying lashes. I’ll have somebody else finish.”She said again that she barely touched me and was just trying to separate two lashes, so I said I was not comfortable, especially with the way she was touching my face. She got more defensive and said, with an angry tone, “what do you mean, the way I’m touching your face,” so I told her I wasn’t comfortable with her pressing her hands into my face as she worked, but I would still pay and gave her my card. After I signed for the payment, I told her I was sorry and left. I don’t think she said anything at all while I was paying or when I apologized and left.

Was gererally pleased as an eyelash client of Betty’s while I was getting my lashes done. She worked diligently and hard, was always on-time, respectful, kind, and made me comfortable. I felt like I had to often remind her that I wanted shorter lashes and often left with lashes longer than I wanted or thought I was getting. However, when I had an allergic reaction to the lashes that was extremely severe Betty never even offered for me to come in and take a look, didn’t call or text to check in or reimburse me for that lash fill! I was shocked! I bought a package that day, and she did reimburse me for the other three that I obviously never used, but made me pay for the fill that I reacted too! She also took months to pay me back for the other fills and I had to call and text multiple times. Overall, my ending experience left a very sour taste in my mouth and she did not handle my allergic reaction well at all. I would never recommend someone looking for lashes to go see Betty at Stuido Zen in Fort Collins. Find someone who will take care of you even when you have a poor reaction and will not longer be a client.
