Went in for trochanteric bursitis evaluation. Had been suffering for six months. Dr. Flanagan convinced me to try an injection. I admit I was hesitant as Ive seen it done by non-Ortho guys and not well. His MA assured me he was great as he treats her entire family. She was correct! Hip doing great. Hes professional and personal. Highly recommend him.

PATIENT BEWARE and $3000 POORER!!!! :-( My husband had rotator cuff surgery in Oct 2016 by Dr. Flanagan at Cape Fear Orthopedics. Everything was good for about 6 mos, then his shoulder starting popping again and he had gotten a popeye bicep that Flanagan told him was purely estically ugly but wouldnt affect him using the bicep. Needless to say, the bicep became increasingly crampy and numb. Our local family doctor suggested a 2nd opinion and my husband refused to see Dr. Flanagan again. Our primary doctor referred us to Dr. Almekinders at NC Orthopedic Clinic in Durham. At the appointment, I took my husbands MRI from last year, all medical records and surgical report. Two weeks later, we got a 2nd MRI and that afternoon the doctor accomodated us with same day appt since we were coming from Fay. Long story short, my husbands surgery was scheduled. He had a cuff tear that was NOT repaired by Flanagan as it was NOT notated in surgical records, a 2nd cuff tear was discovered during surgery that was NOT visible on 2nd MRI and that was repaired. (Probably reason for limited mobility and popping) Plus, we were told at Flanagans office that the bicep tendon was attached with titanium screw, but was NOT true as no screw visible on MRI or surgery. Only repaired with dissolveable material. After 2nd surgery, we have a screw attaching bicep tendon. In addition, Dr. Flanagans PA okd my husband removing the sling to relax the arm as quick as 2-wks after first surgery. Dr. Almekinders demanded that the husband keep his arm slinged for at least 4 wks post-op. Highly suggest to stay away.....
