I was at the park today, and what I heard, and saw was terrible. The staff acts like they hate their job.they are rude, and physical with the kids..I hear a teacher say..no I dont want balls on the play ground..then told one to go stand behind the tree..this seems a bit much..they kicked them of the teetertotter too..saying no one needs to go on.let kids be kids and play..I understand they need some discipline but this teacher did nothing but yell at them constantly. I actually left because I couldnt take it anymore

Staff need to be better trained for caring for children. Center was dirty and very unorganized.

As stressful and overwhelming it is a parent to find the best place for your little one to spend the day when you are at work, I am beyond happy about my decision to send my son to Active Learning Center in Palmer, PA. Over this past school year, I have watched four year old son grow in his social skills, his vocabulary, his interest in stories and characters, his patience, and his overall appreciation for learning and being with other kids. His teacher is unbelievable, she is so patient and kind. The director, Megan, who I know personally, is one of the best people I know...always willing to help and see her ALC students succeed. The staff has been nothing but helpful and cooperative with me when I need them. My son LOVES going to school and nothing makes me happier than hearing him eagerly tell me about his day when I pick him up. I highly recommend Active Learning Center, it is the best decision that I made. :)

The good: Location is easily accessible. Very secure. Karate is awesome for the kids. (I do feel like if they should split the younger class. Its so large & all those toddlers at once is alot, so most of the time is taken up with reprimands instead of actual learning). The curriculum is fun for the kids. They make sure they go outside for playtime whever possible & not only in the summer. The negatives: -the price is much higher than most & besides the curriculum, I havent seen why. The reasons, they say on their advertisements, dont really match up to what really happens day to day. For example, they do move kids from class to class based on ratio for that day. With the income they are receiving, ratio should never effect the children except on holidays. -Also, they talk about their unique way of dealing with negative behaviors. Yet, Ive seen teachers raise voices, allow children to continue their negative behavior & interrupt classes, & talk to children in ways that arent classified as positive reinforcement (ex, knock it off!). -They send out notices that let parents know if a child needs extra behavioral attention, they are not equipped to handle it. Understandable, but Im pretty sure that at least one of the staff has a child enrolled and that child is absolutely out of control, disruptive and needs extra attention but is still there. Is it fair to other children, their favorite class (like karate) is constantly interrupted? Not really. Is it fair to the parents that have been kicked out for that? Not really. -There are some great teachers (Pre-K 🥰), but the teachers for the Cranes I have observed to be not as inviting or friendly (which your being entrusted with our children so give a freaking smile in the morning). If you dont like your job, switch careers but me or my child should not have to suffer. Theres barely a hello in the morning & if thats the only time I speak to you, I would assume you would put your best foot forward. We are the reason you have a job & it really doesnt make you feel like part of a family which is a core value of theirs. You can also tell when they dont like you & if one teacher in that class doesnt, the other doesnt either. I wouldnt exactly say they are professional about it because theyll just ignore you or give an attitude when they have to talk to you. Although, thats only one classroom, so does one apple really spoil the bunch? Only if your kid is eating the apple in that class, I guess lol -the office staff is very helpful & professional. Although trying to get them to explain anything, from karate to payments, is like pulling teeth. If you second guess them, theyll just run you around in circles until you give up lol -they send out weekly reminders, which is very helpful. Unfortunately its very short & sweet. So if your new and dont know much, youll have to ask. Although, why not just put the info on there so its easier for the parents? For example, when it was picture day they said pictures were $25. They didnt say if they were inside or out, what the $25 covered and how you order. Then, they do the pictures outside on a COLD and windy fall day, no coats, the kids were freezing and you could see that in their photos. But come to find out, the $25 was only for online prints so you had to pay extra for actual prints & if you didnt like any, well too bad, your money is nonrefundable. -I love that they take a field trip every month. The fact that they go to Country Meadows is nice but concerning. More than once, my child was extremely sick after the visits. If there was more thought into it, bringing young children around elderly people, who often get pneumonia, is risky. I think a once in a while trip there is fine but its just not healthy in the winter & any doctor will tell you that.

If you want a place to send your kids that will make you feel comfortable and know they are taken care of, GO HERE! The staff is kind and attentive. It was my first time sending my kids (almost 2 and 4) to daycare and they make you feel right at home. I can call and check on them at anytime. If you need daycare in the Lehigh Valley I would highly recommend ALC Palmer. The director Megan is awesome, call her today!

Our daughter has been attending the new Palmer ALC location since October. She loves it there! The staff is friendly and helpful. The teachers have thoughtful lesson plans and the plans are emailed once a week with photos of what the students did during the week. Our daughter is also involved in the little ninjas karate program. She loves the karate teacher, who is so very patient and kind. We are so pleased we switched the ALC!

Active learning center in Palmer is fantastic. They are super reliable, especially in the winter with snow days. They are open on days that other centers are typically closed. I love it and my daughter is happy here. We tried a childcare center in the past and my daughter was always sad when I dropped her off and happy to leave at the end of the day. She also seemed to get sick constantly. Since we have been coming to Active learning center on most days she is happy when I drop her off and sometimes does not want to leave. She’ll tell me that she wants to go to daycare when we’re home or that she wants to play with her friends. The teachers and staff are all great. They know your name and treat you like a friend. I smiled when I walked in to pick up my daughter one time and heard the teacher tell her that she loved her as she gave her a goodbye hug. It’s great to know that the staff at ALC actually care about the kids. My daughter has learned so much since being at ALC. She comes home singing songs, talking about the things the teachers did for her, and about her friends. She did a gymnastics course, she has weekly karate, and she is currently enrolled in the soccer class. She will soon be moving into a preschool classroom and I will certainly miss all the teachers, but I am confident that her new teachers will be great as well. 😊👍

My son has been at ALC Palmer for the past five months, and we are very pleased with his education, and care. He has learned so much in his short time here, in both the older toddler and Pre-School rooms. His vocabulary has grown tremendously, and Im impressed by his manners (which are definitely being reinforced at school). Were grateful he loves his school and has so much fun learning. As a parent, I love the communication from the center with updates and photos daily/weekly. I also appreciate the care they give to make all their ALC families feel welcome!

I can not stress enough how grateful I am for ALC. My children go there and they love it. The staff is very hands on with the children. My three year old does pre-k here and has learned so much. The hours work well with my work hours and the director Megan is the sweetest. I can go on and on with nothing but great things to say about the staff and curriculum. I wouldnt send my kids anywhere else. ALC gives me peace of mind knowing that my kids are in good hands while I am at work.
