I moved my mother into the Phoenix at Dunwoody on October 28, 2020. The only issue I have is that I didnt do it sooner. They have done everything they said they would do during the interview and now my mother passed away this past week (She was 95) and they have been super supportive. Hospice was brought in a week earlier and again, the staff couldnt have been nicer or more caring. I am talking top to bottom, just excellent people. I am out of parents at this time, but I strongly suggest The Phoenix at Dunwoody to anyone looking and will certainly suggest it to friends and neighbors that end up in the same situation as I did.

I really appreciate how responsive the staff is in the on-boarding process and the level of attention during first few weeks of transition for my father. Great staff and great attitude. The billing process is very transparent and everything promised is delivered without surprises. I highly recommend.Gary W

This month marks my aunts second anniversary at The Phoenix At Dunwoody. God truly guided me to this placement and it has been the best decision I could have made! They had done a remarkable job of caring for those in memory care especially during Covid19. Im available to share my initial concerns and my overall complete satisfaction with anyone struggling with their decision to select The Phoenix At Dunwoody for a memory care residence.

After my Mother passed away my Father could not continue to live in his home. After visiting many different facilities it was determined that Phoenix of Dunwoody would be the best place for Him. It has been more that three years now and we are very pleased with his situation. He is very happy and is well taken care of. The staff has been very attentive to both of us. In the rare occasion where I have had a concern, the staff has addressed it quickly and appropriately. The recent renovations have updated the facility and were done with minimal stress on the residents. I highly recommend the Phoenix of Dunwoody.

Very unpleasant. Very sad to see how uninvolved their staff are with residents. The memory care is heartbreaking. The room is filled with sadness and angry staff. Where do they find these people and why do they hire them. It would be nice if they actually cared about the residents. They just want your money. Phoenix is not where you want to send your loved one. Despite how nice it is post renovations. It’s the love and compassion that’s most important which they are seriously lacking. Their own staff have left awful reviews. Please do not decide without visiting and seeing for yourself. There are so many others that are a much better option.

The community is beautiful and located in such a great area. More importantly, the care is top notch, delivered by a well tenured team and overseen by a hands on leadership team. Stop in for some warm cookies made by chef Angela or some yummy pot roast made by Sharon. Please come see the community yourself and meet the team.

Our hospice agency has had the best experience with the Phoenix. Most recently, we had a very difficult to manage patient placed with the building who later passed away. The facility took amazing care of her, kept her safe and made her experience in the building the most peaceful and safe she had experienced since her Dementia diagnosis. Isaac and Nick clearly care about the patients and staff and it shows in their care!

Witnessed staff mistreat a resident. Naturally, I spoke up for him. 5 minutes later a large man walked up to me and tells me to vacate the premises. I will be reporting this Monday morning. Ask residents in the Dunwoody area. Those who are familiar with this facility will tell you that Phoenix is NOT a place for your loved one. Dont base your decision on the recent renovations . Cosmetically its great which is the only good thing this facility has going for it. The caregivers lack experience, knowledge and compassion. If you choose to visit be sure you spend a little time with the caregivers. Ask them how long they have been there. Ask them to name some of the residents. Ask them if they have any experience or if they have had any training. You will be surprised. I have yet to find a business with staff less committed to their job as these folks and they are the ones who are supposed to be looking after the residents. The sales team who give you the tour and answer all of your questions about the facility know nothing about the residents or the staff. Their main goal is to fill any vacancies so they can collect their checks at the end of the month.I have visited other facilities Nearby on numerous occasions. I have noticed consistency in those nearby facilities and staff who are much more involved and knowledgeable. Dont settle for what little Phoenix has to offer. There are at least a dozen other facilities nearby worth looking into! Please take your time and visit those facilities. Talk with the caregivers. Ask THEM the questions. The staff at Phoenix just dont have a clue.

As someone who actually has a family member living here, I can say we chose the right place. Don’t let these other reviews from the same family fool you, these people love what they do and it shows. The community is clean, management is super responsive and activities are engaging (not just bingo every day). Everything is bright and updated and they are located right near the perimeter, convenient to everything.

Please do not put your loved one is this awful community. My friends mother was living there. She was never allowed to go off the grounds with anyone for lunch or any other reason. She died on this past Sunday after suffering for 6 days and the staff told everyone but 3 people to get off their property when they were long time friends and other people close to her. She died alone. I could go on and on with all that is so terrible about this place and their staff. Take this review seriously and do not put anyone you love in this Godforsaken facility. I never knew a place could even be this awful. They care nothing for their residents at all. Their comfort and emotional needs are never even considered by the current staff at this facility. I would put zero stars if it would allow me. It was a nightmare no one should have to go through.

Ive had the pleasure of working with The Phoenix at Dunwoody due to a close friend living there. The dynamics of assisted living are hard to imagine until one is ultimately involved in the process. They provide housing, care, entertainment, dining, life safety, and a general watchful over site. My experience with Phoenix Senior Living has been positive and the team has courteous and responsive. The area of cooperation or liaison with doctors offices and the hospital has been vital in my comfort level as to her care. The community will soon benefit from a large renovation and that will be very nice. However, the caring and compassionate staff will always be the reason my friend will stay at Dunwoody.

I will never recommend this place to anyone. The unprofessionalism and lack of concern regarding their conduct is unbelievable. They should be arrested for their incompetence. Their neglect puts vulnerable seniors at risk of being taken advantage of. Things go missing, staff mistreat residents and its just awful. If you decide this is the place, Please be sure that an inventory sheet is completed before signing anything. They generally leave that form blank and when stuff goes missing, you have no proof that it was there to begin with.Make sure your loved one has a copy of the residents rights and go over that with them. If not they are likely to be taken advantage of. Remember you and the resident call the shots. Not Phoenix. They are very intrusive and you will learn that over time. When something goes wrong, they will not take responsibility. Its not their fault. Yeah right.

Its clear if you have actually been to this community how nice it is. Clean, good care staff, and management that listens. Always something going on with residents, check their facebook page for pictures you can see how active they are. There are a lot of other options really close by but none of them have staff with experience like here.

If I had to narrow it down to 3 reasons why Phoenix at Dunwoody would be my last choice for me or a loved one:1) Inactivity and boredom ( memory care unit)Every time I visit my friend, I know exactly where to find her. She is always sitting at the same table, in the same chair in the same shared living/dining/lounge room. Same with the other residents. I visit at various times throughout the day and have never observed any kind of activities. Just inactivity and frustrated residents.2) Unprofessional and EXTREMELY INEXPERIENCED staffProbably a result of their high turn over rate3)Lack of respect they have for the residents and their familiesStaff are notorious for violating their own written policies regarding residents and their rightsWhen you witness this happening do not attempt to help your loved one resolve these violations with Phoenix directly. They will resort to making false allegations that are designed to isolate the resident and make visitation difficult and stressful.I have contacted The Department of Community Health and Healthcare Regulation Laws and Licensing Division along with The Secretary of State, Council on Aging, GA Advocacy Office for Seniors, etc. All have confirmed that Phoenix practices are not ethical and or legal. They were planning on contacting the resident and unfortunately my dear friend passed away just a few days later.I feel compelled to share this with you. Please do not wait until it’s too late. Report illegal activity to Secretary of State. Do not waste your time with their administration.

The rights of the residents at this facility are posted on the wall for everyone to see beside the front counter in the lobby. Pay no attention to that and dont bother wasting your time reading it. The residents are insignificant here. They do not care for their residents because the staff are not there long enough to get to know any of them. New staff every other week. They recently completed renovations so it looks nice. Staff are very unprofessional and inexperienced and just rude.

Very disappointed in this facility. The staff are extremely unprofessional and unkind. Isaac is the supervisor in memory care. Avoid that man at all cost. Prepare to hear staff bicker and residents get yelled at. Isaac Shouldn’t be in a leadership role and that’s very apparent when you visit this facility and spend a little time observing how they operate. Very disorganized. And then visit again the next day. You will hardly ever see the same person twice.

Review №29

Staff are disrespectful to the residents AND their visitors. The caregivers, supervisors, administration, etc all have been extremely unprofessional. The turn over rate is very high. When there are visitors you would expect that the staff would have control of their outbursts. They reveal themselves to you very quickly. I have even observed staff yelling at other staff. The way this facility is ran is similar to those in foreign countries where good customer service is not a priority and the residents comfort is irrelevant. If it were me, I would not leave my loved one here. My friend who is a new resident here wont be here much longer. She is miserable and her health is declining. Visit other facilities before deciding. You will see the difference. The residents at Phoenix are not happy. Especially those in memory care. Its very difficult to feel at ease or feel satisfied knowing that you made the right choice for your loved one if staff are not familiar with the residents because they do not stick around long enough. They invested a lot of money into renovating the facility so it looks very nice but it was fine before. They should have invested the money into hiring and maintaining good quality staff that actually know the residents by name and can answer questions with something other than, I dont know. It looks great on the outside but spend some time there before deciding and you will soon discover that Phoenix is not the right place for your loved one. Its not easy to just pick up and move once you realize Phoenix is not what you expected. I cant tell you how important it is that you take your time and do your research first. It will save you time, money and heartache in the long run.

As the oldest daughter, placing my Mother in Assisted Living was the hardest decision we had ever made. Now, after seeing the change to her life at Phoenix at Dunwoody. I know we should have made the decision earlier. The care, the people and environment has made this her home and she is so well cared for. We could not be happier and I am confident my Mother is happy.

NOBODY should ever have to die alone. But that is exactly how my friend had to die at this facility. SOMEBODY at Phoenix made the decision to isolate my dear friend during her last few days on earth. She was the most social woman ive ever known and always welcomed her friends and family. When her condition took a sudden turn for the worse of course her close friends and family wanted to say their goodbyes. Phoenix would not allow this. We believe they took orders from POA who was not even family and barely even knew my dear friend. We tried to help her revolk her POA that she signed out of desperation but phoenix would never allow anyone to help her. There are laws that protect the elderly from isolation and abuse but phoenix doesnt follow those laws. They care nothing about the residence. Only who is in charge of the bill. When asked why we couldnt visit and say our goodbyes, we were given a different reason everytime. One thing they were consistent about is blaming everyone else. A guardian or a family member can make the decision to let someone die alone. And nobody would ever make that decision anyway except Phoenix at Dunwoody. Ultimately they are the ones responsible because its their facility where she died. They are supposed to protect the rights of each resident but they chose to violate her rights. They will lie and claim they were protecting her but the only people she needs protecting from are phoenix at dunwoody and her poa. Hence the lawsuit that they both are facing. Obviously this takes time. Who are they to hinder an investigation? Dont blame the residents dementia. That card has been overplayed and nobody there ever seemed concerned about the poa that was extorting her. Despite her pleas. My dear friend had no blood family which is why this random neighbor guy took advantage. He saw vulnerabilty. Then called all the shots while stealing from her. She begged for help but Phoenix wouldnt allow anyone to help her. Ultimately her friends and church family were turned away and she died alone. POA, that she grew to despise was the only one in her room when she died and everyone wondered why. She had over 100 people at her funeral and not 1 person acknowledged that poa. And of course Phoenix never attended even though it was 1 mile down the street from their facility. An attorney has contacted poa and he refuses to hand over documents. I cant imagine why. Hmmmm Everything will come out after discovery including Phoenixs involvement. This facility does not care about the residents. They dont want vacancies. Thats obvious.
