We moved my mother to BC from another facility where we had a terrible experience. Alex was most helpful providing all the details I needed to make the decision to move my mother here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is pretty good. I am happy to receive monthly updates about my mothers health and well being. I can rest much easier now that she is in a better facility.

My mother moved into the memory care wing of Berman Commons in 2021. Everything about Berman has exceeded our expectations. The facilities are excellent. The staff makes sure my mother is mentally and physically engaged to the best of her capabilities, and she always tells me how the staff at Berman takes wonderful care of her.

My grandmother has been thriving at Berman Commons for many years. We are so thankful she is able to live in a beautiful facility surrounded by activities and Jewish learning. We feel very fortunate to have this facility in Atlanta.

My brother and I needed to get my mother into Assisted Living in a very expedited manor. Alex was amazingly helpful...transparent...flexible...hard-working in making this happen and making sure she got in and got settled! The Berman was the right place and Alex was the right person at the right time! I will forever be grateful for his help and for the piece of mind EVERYONE at The Berman Commons gives me and my family!

Mom moved into Berman Commons Assisted Living last summer after a fall. Alex and staff made the move as smooth as possible considering we were under Covid rules. They have taken great care of mom and she is very happy. Thanks to all involved.

Constant frustration would be the best way to describe my experience with the Berman Commons. There is a high turn over of staff including Executive Directors and there is a glaring lack of communication. Covid has been a terrible experience, residents are neglected and unless you pay additional for each extra piece of care your loved one may be ignored. For example, giving a resident a reminder is considered a level of care and needs to have a charge attached to it. While you might expect a call about things if there are problems, that does not happen. They continually have problems and issues with medicine management despite this being a cornerstone of assisted living care. My experience over the years has been that the higher ups do not care either. It is truly a shame, since this is the only Kosher facility in Atlanta and is promoted as the premier facility for our aging Jewish seniors.Regarding the response from Shari Bayer - thank you for responding. Yes, today I finally received email responses. No answers or solutions yet. And Shari, you were included in one of the emails from last week about a problem with my fathers medicine. You had not responded to me either. And there was no phone call, but email is fine. I await answers to my questions.

My family had to make the very difficult decision to put a parent into a memory care assisted living situation. We were looking for a place where he hopefully thrive in spite of the increasing memory loss. When I learned about the I am still here program at Berman Commons, I knew I had found the right place. Alex Hoff was amazing at expediting the paperwork and making us all feel comfortable with our decision. The staff goes above and beyond to communicate with family members. The COVID protocols in place helped to manage my anxiety and they have done an outstanding job of keeping him safe during this horrific pandemic. I highly recommend this facility.

Very happy my father decided to enter Berman Commons and wish he had moved earlier. The move in was smooth and the staff was so helpful to make sure he received everything he needed especially the care from nursing staff. Alex handled everything from call one to making sure he had the right cable. And all during Covid...? I was expecting the worst and got the best. And it seems like every time I call, there is someone in the room checking in on him, taking his temperature, going over the menu, or helping with small items that makes his life easier. But more importantly than how pleased I am, is how pleased he is. He feels taken care of and that is everything. I cant wait to see how they operate post-covid because it can only get better.

After being advised by medical professionals that our Mom was no longer safe living independently, even with limited in-home care, we visited 5 different Assisted Living facilities and chose Berman Commons. We found that the environment and the staff was caring, concerned and compassionate - they know and care about each individual resident. In particular, Amanda Bunder (then the Program Director) took a particular interest to see that our Mom was integrated into the community and had a good experience. The floor staff was caring and communicated with us when a situation indicated that was appropriate. In fact, one of the CNAs was emotionally affected when she learned of our Moms passing. We also had several opportunities to eat with our Mom in the residents dining room. The food was always well presented, tasty, and with options meeting anyones needs. If a warm, caring environment is what you are looking for, Berman Commons is a great choice.

Berman Commons was wonderful to my Mom the almost 2 years she lived in Memory Care. Rhett Scircle, the Director, made certain she had the foods she loved and checked on her weekly. Pam and Karen always spoke with her and cared for her daily. The rooms are lovely and the food was top notch. Thank you for making a difficult situation better by your care.

The administration, and nursing ability to recognize declining patient capabilities is POOR! I was told there would be regular physician visits (NOT) and 24 hour nursing on-hand (NOT). They didn’t even have an RN during the majority of my mother’s one year stay. One tIme, I recognized that my mother was experiencing extreme coughing, and the staff indicated that her condition was under control. Not believing the staff (due to past performance) I called an ambulance, and she was diagnosed at the hospital with untreated pneumonia! On a second occasion, she was actively hallucinating, and again the nursing staff were oblivious to her medical needs! Called an ambulance and she was transported to hospital, for a second diagnosis of pneumonia within 2 months😡😡My mother died an additional two months later under the care of hospice, as a hired third party, as Berman Commons is unable to administer narcotics.Overall rating POOR, greatly overrated.

The phones have been out since Monday morning. It is now Thursday. I cannot call my 89 year old mother. I cannot reach anyone at this facility. This phone system goes out several times a year. It’s a Shonda, which in Yiddish means disgrace!

My mother lived at Berman Commons for almost 2 years. The CNAs who are caring and hard working, all leave. An example of poor choices? Instead of replacing moldy washers that are used for residents clothing, there are new video screens everywhere. Management hides in their offices, and dont know or understand the population. Activities have always been lacking, and now there isnt even daily bingo which at least got alot of people out of their rooms. Yes the building is decorated beautifully with Jewish themes....but how many Jewish employees are there in this Jewish home???? I can count them on one hand.My mom passed away in March along with at least 9 others in a 2 month period.... I would NOT recommend you send your loved ones here.

We are so Blessed and appreciative that my wifes mom and aunt are now residents at Berman Commons. The property has a resort-like feel to it and the staff is simply amazing. The team there is very much on the ball and it means so much to us to see her mom and aunt enjoying themselves and receiving the care and love they deserve. Cannot recommend Bermon Commons enough. Many thanks to Lee Shaffer, Amanda Bunder, Rhett Scircle and the entire staff for all that they do.

Our father has been at BC for 2.5 months. It has not been a great transition. The management team is all talk & no action. We have spent countless hours on the phone, in person meetings & emails/phone calls to no avail & no one sadly seems to care about making anything better. Thety list his $8k hearing aids & assured us they would get them replaced from the VA. Its a month later & now throwing it back in our hands to care of their mistake. Took weeks to get his rx meds corrected with them as they were giving incorrect doses/ timing. Sheets not changed, room not cleaned on a regular basis as outlined in their sales pitch. Always seem understaffed & management has all the right answers, but no folliw through. Preach how great their program is on Im still here is with choice & Independecy, then preset every place setting with juice- no choice of tea, coffee or any other beverage. Sad situation, so take caution before signing on the dotted line with this organization.
