Was a great place, was my go to dentist forever, then was told I cant make an appointment because theyre only seeing kids during covid. Worst business model ever, evidently only kids have dental issues right now. Will never recommend again.

They cancel my appointment 3 times, can you believe it or not. Also, my brother and sister had a appointment on July 23rd, 2021 at 4pm and they need it before school start this August. When we were arrived there, the staff told us that the clinic was close at 3pm. Moreover, they didn’t even call us or gave us a notice that the clinic going to be closed. If they’re going to be closed at that time why they scheduled us at 4pm. The front staff also so rude they need more training. To whoever belong to Ocean Dental clinical if you read this review please considering the staffs who work there, they need more trading on how to schedule people and more trading on how to respect other cultures.

Was 3 minutes late they turned my son around they are not professional.A few months ago they turned us around also saying they would get in contact with me to ignore the emails.So Im done and I recommend you find another provider as well

Absolutely horrible place to go. They dont fix the cavities or even acknowledge them! Glad i took my kiddos somewhere else!

They dont answer the phone and they dont call you back when you leave a message. They are content with children being in excruciating pain.

Great place to take your kids to see the dentist. My daughters dentist is super nice and makes he feel so comfortable to be there.Ladies up front can be little nicer and not talk about someone when they are standing right there. Also little note... Lose your attitude

Didnt know they accepted adult patients! Needed emergency care, made me an immediate appointment. Upon arrival, very organized and great customer service! Explained how my insurance worked, made sure I understood my coverage. Immediately diagnosed issues, worked up a treatment plan, explained it well, and also immediately fixed me up! Staff kind, attentive, and funny. Great place!! Found my new dentist for myself and my family!

I came in with an abscessed tooth. The receptionist was very friendly and eager to help (I didnt catch her name). She got me an appointment for the next day! Its incredible because I had already been turned down by 5 dentists. The next day Elisa checked me and couldnt have been nicer or more helpful. A dental assistant ( cant remember her name) , took my x-ray was a sweetheart; very professional. Tammy and my dentist were wonderful; they so inspired trust and calmed me down. Everyone was so kind, compassionate, helpful and professional. THANK-YOU SO MUCH!!!

Good place. They get you right in and explain what they did,ask if theres any concerns or questions. Friendly staff. Would recommend them.

( especially Dr. Cheek the oral surgeon and his assistant Tanisha) From the front office staff who are extremely personable and helpful to everyone in between...even the check out process was simple timely and so helpful. I went in for a crown, because of a chipped tooth that was too bad to build up. Everyone was very friendly, and reassuring, as I am not a big fan of the dentist! Lets just say, Ive never had a dentist on my Christmas card list! Very professional! Dr. Dali, (sic?) was amazing, as were the numerous assistants that I saw on the two visits! She was very thorough and meticulous, to get it just right! Ive never had dental work, whether it was a build up or filling, that felt this good! Usually when you leave, the work that was done feels rough or weird, but this feels smooth and natural! Im amazed!!!! Thank you Ocean Dental!! I will refer people to your practice!!!!

This office has a wonderful staff! My daughter looks forward to going to the dentist and has always had a great experience. When she had to have some extensive dental work done, they took the time to go over our options and do what was best for my daughters comfort. I really appreciate how they take care of the kids and create a relaxed and fun atmosphere!

Ocean Dental has provided dental services for my kids since our arrival here in the state of Iowa some three years ago. The staff members are courteous, friendly and inform me of my kids progress every step of the way. I would definitely recommend Ocean to others.

They did really good with both my kids. And one daughter had to have a couple teeth pulled right away cause they were broken. And they were able to have that done that day. And then my oldest had to have all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and they did it fast and good. And she didnt have problems. Their oral surgeon is really good.

They wont see my sons anymore unless I let them put crowns on there baby teeth, seems like every other time we go, they want to put crowns in. Theres no tooth decay and they are baby teeth, why not just a filling if the tooth actually gets decay? Staff seems good tho.

So before coming to Ocean Dental I was very skeptical as they have some reviews that arent the best, however my son needed in for an emergency and they got him in the very next morning. The front was very nice. While sitting in the waiting room there was a mom in there that was VERY rude yelling at the front desk because they told her that her daughters Medicaid was coming back not active. Thats on the parent not the facility. It was RIDICULOUS how she was treating them, but they were not rude back. My son was then called back and all the ladies were very very nice and friendly. They all gave him attention and treated him great. We then went to the back because he had a baby tooth that needed pulled and the dentist was great! I believe it was Hans Leonard, DDS. He was amazing the whole time. Joking with my son and made him very comfortable. It was a great great experience and I am glad we went here.

Dentist and dental asst. were very patient and sweet to me because Im so pathetically scared of dental work. They gave me some stuff to relax me and it was the best experience ever. I will for sure be going regularly for check ups now. Thank you to the staff for not laughing at me or at least not doing it in front of me.

For someone who doesnt particularly care for dentistry, Ocean Dental was kind polite and did the best they could to keep me calm. I would truly recommend them for children and those who have title 19 or medicaid.

Brought 4 kids in and was pleasantly surprised at the speed that they were able to complete Dental work. Wish they had sedation services- we are now headed back to Des Moines for our 3rd trip.P. S. I sure would like to see the receptionist smile or at least make an effort to “sound” friendly.

I had an emergency situation and they told me to come in right away and they would fit me in. They had my chart ready and I was taken back within 5 minutes of doing paperwork. I was treated with respect and everything went very smoothly. I have bad anxiety over going to the dentist and they really helped to ease the situation for me. Seriously above and beyond what I expected!

Very nice staff, helpful and quick service with appts. Very very amazing with little ones and making them comfortable. Doctors were more than willing to answer questions. They also take state Insurance. Highly recommend for dental services for children and teens.

I will never darken the door of Ocean Dental ever again. I had a 4:30 appointment for my daughter. We walked in the door 3 minutes late because we witnessed an accident and had to stop and call 911. They refused to see her because she was 3 minutes late. Absolutely ridiculous. I do not understand what the problem was 3 minutes not even 5 minutes. We have always had good service there but today was absolutely horrible and I will never ever darken their door again!

I was a new patient and had broken a tooth. Wasnt sure if Medicaid would cover but it did. They got me in and out within an hour including, paperwork, X-ray, initial exam and extraction of the broken tooth! Very friendly staff and Dr. Cheek was awesome! I would definitely go back and I have already recommended them to a few people!

So, we’ve gone here since our first 2 kids started seeing the dentist. We’ve been a fan since the beginning, since they’re specifically for children! Everyone there is really friendly, and this visit, they finally have a dental hygienist that got my 11 yr old and my 3 yr old to get their X-rays without gagging and throwing up! This visit was the best one yet. And they make all 4 appointments at the same time with no issues since we drive an hour to get here. All in all, this place is great!!!! And they take adults now!

Staff was great took really good care of me. The oral surgeon was great had me in and out in no time I was very impressed I had to have teeth removed and he came in numbed everything that needed it and went to work. Was the best experience in a dentist office I have ever had.

They are great at making children feel comfortable about dental care. They have very good, down to earth doctors and nurses. They are also great at explaining to children exactly what and how they are going to do the work before they do it. A great place for children to get dental.

Im on Medicaid and needed my wisdom teeth out and this was the closest dentist I found. It was a bit embarrassing being the only adult alone there, with a lot of families and stuff designed for kids, but the staff, including the doctor who removed my teeth, were all very kind and helpful. Reccomended!

Most unprofessional staff I have ever seen working with children. My daughter paperwork and someone else paperwork got mixed up and my daughter info was give out on the phone to a different family as they wrote someone else number down in. My daughter paperwork. I will never go back !!

The staff was wonderful. They walked me through all the paperwork for four grandchildren . They are personable and friendly. We had follow up appts. and they have been great with each visit.

My older daughters have been going here for about a year, we just previously took our youngest. They did awesome with her, she was scared at first but they were very patient with her. Definitely coming back.

Interesting way to do dentistry. Children only and parents stand outside the glass window and observe. Six chairs at a time and most techs seem pleasant enough.

Treated my son and I very well and took great care to make him comfortable and reassured. It was his first time getting teeth pulled and he had to get 4 out. They handled it well.

My daughter just had to have a cap put on her teeth and the pediatric dentist was a young man that was just *wonderful*. She was very scared of the nosepiece for some weird reason, but he was able to talk her through it and get her to relax, and from t here it was easy as pie. Husband and I were very nervous because she was so scared of the dentist, but this gentleman was amazing. He walked her through the shots and called it the mosquito that was hiding from the rain. Id very strongly recommend this dentist to any parent, his bedside manner is like amazing. A+

I went to get my four wisdom teeth removed. They made me feel very comfortable and explained everything they were going to do. I had John Cheek doing my removal! He was amazing I had my teeth out within ten minutes. Also they gave me a general anesthetic for the surgery and after the surgery they gave me oxygen so I would not feel loopy. Also to numb your mouth they do Novocain, but before the Novocain they put a cream in the areas to numb where you get the shots.They also sent me home with instructions for my recovery along with a bag of things I would need and prescriptions for pain meds that also help swelling . I would highly recommend Ocean Dental.

Once upon a time this place was decent, customer service has gone down terribly, not to mention the manager onsite, you cant expect much when she lacks professionalism herself. I scheduled an appointment 3 weeks out and 30 minutes prior to going I get a call and was advised my insurance MetLife was not accepted there.I had mentioned my new insurance at time of appointment 3 weeks earlier. Now Kids had stayed home from school for this appointment. The manager not wanting to take any responsibility did what most teenagers do or corporate brats do and started to blame others. She would talk over me and did not care about the situation. I am glad I got to know their real side on handling a simple matter, imagine something bigger, I would never trust my children to this organization.

Made you feel comfortable and made kids feel comfortable enough to not go with me. I like the way they do it. Quick and done.

Only thing is My prescription flew out the window after I got my wisdom teeth out and they wouldnt let me come in and get a new one. So I guess they decided I was suppose to just deal with the pain after getting all four wisdom teeth tooling out. I ended up going to the hospital for the pain and they took care of me there. But other then that, I felt they did a good job!!!

1st time there, we waited forever, but 2 subsequent visits have been great. They have been able to get all 3 kids in at once & got us in quickly with very little wait time.

Very friendly here. My two year old was crazy and not very happy about it. But the dentist and the dental assistant were friendly and changed his attitude. Love how they let him control his appointment.

I drive from almost 3 hours away to take my children to Ocean. The staff is very courteous! They keep you, as a parent, very well informed the entire time. If your child may need any laughing gas or anything they call you to the back and make sure its ok first. They are really great with the kids as well. My 4 year old is normally terrified of anything to do with Doctors or people touching her and wont even show me her mouth, but they are able to clean her teeth and everything with no guff! She had to have dental surgery and everyone treated us so well. They even called my home phone around 7 that night to make sure she was ok and not having any issues. I highly recommend Ocean Dental to anyone looking for great Dentists. The one and only thing I dont like is that they refuse to see all my children at once. They will only see 3 people from the same family in one day so that makes it a little difficult for us being 3 hours away. I really wish we could just do one trip. :(

Worst customer experience ever. I have 2 foster kids and the only reason I took them here was because they have been coming to this office the entire time. I call ahead and explain that I am a foster parent and what documentation do I need. They stated on the phone all I need is the kids Medicaid cards and some sort of documentation showing I can sign for medical docs. I had a court order from the county court house saying I can sign for anything medically the kids needed. On the phone ocean dental stated on the phone the court order would work just fine. few weeks later at the appointment they tell me the court order isn’t good enough and that the need a copy of my foster parent agreement( which on the phone they didn’t say I needed). So I had to reschedule 2 weeks later. 2nd visit they do a checkup and explain all the work the kids needed done which I had to schedule a month out. 3rd visit the take both kids back for over an hour. Come to find out they didn’t do anything. Then they come and get me and tell me the little girl I have has lice. (Which I knew for a fact she didn’t because I put preventive treatments in the kids shampoo). So I tell the hygienist to show me and she said 2 other people examined her and she has lice. I leave and vowed never to return there. I go home and thoroughly check the child’s head, NO LICE. Then I take her to the doctors the next day, again no lice just slight dandruff. so over two months and three appointments Ocean dental jerk me around and with false allegations my child had lice. This office is very unprofessional and stay clear of this place at all costs.

This office has a very friendly staff and I love how much the whole experience is geared toward the child. I also appreciate that they accept Medicaid and send the children home with a cute bad and some dental hygiene supplies.

TERRIBLE!!!!!!!The lady behind the glass window/counter was very rude, made no eye contact and had a very crappy attitude. The tv in the dirty waiting room was so loud you could not hear them call your name when int was time to go back and they had to yell just to barely be able to hear them.the person who called me back to discuss my sons treatment plan spoke 50 miles an hour not concerned with explaining the process or what they were going to do to my son at all, not concerned with ensuring that i understood what they would be doing to my son, and for a 1:00 appointment with no treatment other than having 4 sealants applied we were there for 3.5 hours! This was the most unpleasant experience I have ever had at a dental office! Very unprofessional staff, very dirty place, and patients are treated as if they work on an assembly line just moving them through like factory style, just at a VERY slow pace!

They did an excellent job with my daughter and made her feel comfortable. She is no longer afraid to go to the dentist.

My one year old had a accident where she fell and hit her two front teeth on a Sunday night. I called Monday morning and they got her right in. Looked over everything. They were really good with her.

The staff was really nice and friendly but the wait was very long and it turns out they couldnt provide the service I needed so I wasted a day and half a tank of gas for nothing.

After 4 years of coming here, water in hand EVERY SINGLE TIME, Jeremy (the office manager) tells me to take it to my car. God forbid we have GOOD dental habits. Its water! He also is condescending and rude and gave the have a nice day while I was still talking. Nice management, Ocean Dental.

First time taking my kids to ocean dental. Cant say how my kids were treated other than asking the kids after they were seen. My boys had no complaints they are 14 and 15 years old. My daughter is 10 and she only complained that she could feel the shot when they were preparing to pull a tooth. She said she screamed and started crying because she could feel the needle going in. I myself the only thing I dont like is not being able to go back with my 10 year old daughter. On the other hand they informed me of everything they done and was going to do and made sure that was ok first. Staff was professional and friendly. Only real complaint I have is some other parents bringing their children in and letting them run circles in waiting room screaming being loud and allowing their child to take the 3D eye glasses recycling container out in the entry way and play with it and do nothing about it. And allow their children to stand up in the chair and scream and stomp. That was my concern about my first experience with ocean dental and it had nothing to do with the staff. Not Every patient is going to have the same exsperience. I will take my children back.

Dr. Cheek what HORRIBLE!!!! He didnt wait till i was numb to start the shots to extract my wisdom teeth. The front desk had horrible service and they are very very unorganized!! Parents or partners are not allowed in the back until your ready to leave. I definitely will not be recommending Ocean Dental to anyone.

The staff here are great! I was late leaving work to get my son & get him to his appointment, I called them to say I may be 20 mins late but they were kind and accommodating. We didnt have to wait more than 5 mins & the dental assistant was so sweet to my son! She took the time to explain to him what she was going to do before she did it. Hes only 4 so that was good for him. The dentist was kind & quick, but also took the time to answer all my questions. Then after the exam, the dental assistant took us to pick out a child-size t-shirt, coloring materials, stickers, & toothbrush. They were so nice. At first I dreaded driving all the way to the eastside, but for this great of service I gladly will!! Thanks Ocean Dental ladies!!

After taking my name, dob, address insurance company, and insurance number, they put me on hold to verify my insurance. When they came back they told me that they dont accept my insurance. This made me wonder why they had to have the number in the first place. I asked for written confirmation that my information was not stored in their system and that my insurance would not be billed. Jennifer Carre, the practice manager refused to comply with the request. Ill be contacting the insurance company to put them on notice that any claim from ocean dental is fraudulent and should be reported to the authorities.Zero stars isnt an option so I had to give them one star.

My daughter had to get 3 of teeth filled for the first having anything done to them and everyone was so nice and understanding. Most definitely will be taking my kids their for their teeth from now on.

My daughter had an infected tooth they got her in right away and it was quick and painless!

After repeatedly cancelling my childs dental appointment for additional work 4-5 months done the line they try to set us up again. i originally figured one last shot wouldnt hurt but boy was i wrong. one week before the appointment i get a rude phone call from the manager stated that since i have not turned in paperwork that i never received they were cancelling my daughters appointment yet again until further notice. these people do not care about their patients the only thing they care about is getting paid. needless to say i will never take my kids back to this place and if you care about your children you would be wise to steer very clear from this place.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE!!You can’t be with your kids you have to stand outside the room on a one way mirror window and my daughter was crying and I wasn’t allowed to go to her she is 6 years old my oldest got a filling and the dentist dropped the drill in my sons mouth and broke the inside of the the tooth they were suppose to be fixing my son is in a lot of pain and can’t close his mouth and can’t chew his food so I have to find a dentist to fix what they broke

Its was so quick and my kids did great and they love going to the dentist.

I would rate it a five star but on more than one occasion at the last minute once while I was sitting in the waiting room I had to reschedule due to them not having enough time or another reason they had given to see my kids and I always schedule multiple children at a time and to pull them out of school get them there and then have to reschedule for it to possibly happen again but that is the only major problem we experience there

Had a short wait time and made the trip more enjoyable for my kid than our previous dentists.
