I had an appointment a month & a half ago. Everything went well, until my glasses came in. They were suppose to call me, they emailed. I went in, to get my glasses & I didnt like them. Looked for a different frame & found some. They were too ask the office manager of they could be ordered. Was suppose to call me the next day, didnt. A week later I went in, nobody has done anything with my glasses/frames. Told them I just wanted my money back, (it had been a month) that I couldve & shouldve gone somewhere closer, cheaper & would already have my glasses on my face. Well due to changing banks they couldnt refund right then & there so a check needed to be cut. Off course only one person does that, so I had to wait a week . I called a week later, the system was fine so they needed to call me. They didnt. Called me the next day & told me the Dr that does the refunds is on vacation. If I couldve done the review without a star I wouldve!

I went in for an eye exam this morning, and I was just blown away by the excellent customer service and knowledgeable vision associates. My eye doctor was just fantastic (best ever). Explained everything in great detail without even asking. He asks his patients if they have any questions upon leaving and has nothing but his undivided time for you. I’m going to stay loyal to Eye Care of Iowa on the East Side. They are a hidden gem for your vision needs. TRUST ME!!! 👍🏻

This place is fantastic. The Docs are top notch. The office staff is friendly and informed. The selection is great. I dont like going to corporate stores and this office offers competitive prices with unparalleled expertise. The two doctors I have met with have been highly intelligent and extremely passionate.

I have been going here for years. They usually are very helpful. This time I didnt feel very important. I asked about my insurance and was told it wouldnt help pay for new frames but found out at work it would. I might try going back one more time, but if the attention to my needs doesnt change I will be going somewhere else.

I went to Eye Care of Iowa for an eye exam and eyeglasses. There was a 20 min. wait before the exam, but the doctor was friendly and answered my questions. The selection of frames was good and I easily found a pair that I liked. However, I was informed by the staff that my insurance would only cover a small amount of the exam and I had to pay the balance at that time. No problem, I paid my bill and a week later I had a new pair of glasses. But a month after that, I received an Explanation of Benefits from my insurance company that stated they paid a lot more than Eye Care of Iowa thought they would. When I tried to get a refund of my overpayment, they first stated they dont give refunds and would use the funds to credit my next visit in a year. But after I insisted they refund the money before then, they stated I would receive a refund check in about 2 weeks. I received my check 4 weeks later.

They have a large selection of glasses. The staff is both friendly and knowledgeable to help select a pair that actually fits me well. They’ve even ordered in a pair in a different color just to see if I like it prior to ordering with no additional cost! I’ve never been disappointed with the care I’ve received here.

I switched from another optical place to this place and was not disappointed. Staff was very courteous and the eye doctors answered my questions, explained everything and I got fitted for new contacts. Went back for a recheck and everything is fine. Found out my last place had wrongly marked my left/right contacts as well. Shouldve switched years ago.

Staff was very friendly and helpful for both my six year old and myself. They were able to explain everything that was going on so my son wouldnt be scared this was his first visit to the eye doctor. Wait times are very low and you are seen by or before your scheduled time.

The wait for the exam to start can be kind of lengthy but the doctors are very friendly and patient with young kids. There is one staff member that seems to never smile nor is she very friendly, unless she is talking to a coworker. Almost seems as if she feels like she is better than people. Otherwise, Im satisfied with going there.

I have never been not satisfied when I go there for my yearly eye exam. They are knowledgeable on what insurance will cover and explain my cost. All of the staff are amazing and I feel at home and comfortable.

I started going to Eye Care of Iowa because it was close to my work and I am so happy with it! They are great at follow-ups, professional, and whenever I order contacts they come in in a few days and I immediately receive an alert that they are in. Very happy.

I will not be returning to this business. Years ago I had went to the office in Pleasant Hill, IA--rude!! Years later I thought I would retry the business in a newer location--once again--rude!! The office staff were NOT bright at all. None of the office staff knew anything, and when I asked how much longer it was going to take (all I was doing was picking up contacts), I was told not much longer and that someone did a walk in (what that had to do w/me, I still have no idea). The optometrist, has no personality! The eye chart had more personality. I could go on, but I would run out of room.

When I arrived for my appt on 9/18;I asked the people upfront to double check with my insurance to make sure that I was 100% covered for my exam. They assured me it was covered in total and I would not be charged for the exam. However, after my exam they discovered that insurance only paid the first 40 dollars and then applied a 20 percent discount leaving me with a 90+ dollar exam fee. I left a little dumbstruck. Had I known this upfront I would have gone to a another facility where I could buy glasses for that amount. I respectfully request you credit my account the remainder of the exam fee as I feel its not my fault that I was told something in error. Thank you.Here is the response I received from the clinic in response to my reviews. Notice they did not address it on the actual reviews themselves, only in private communication. So I wonder how many other negative reviews have been deleted due to pressure. Being told that they are simply the best highest quality practice around justifies a vision exam to cost the same amount as a physical exam at my primary care doctor is ludicrious. And I will not remove ANY of my comments or reviews because none of the reviews as you can read were an attack. It was a mistake on the part of the employees to tell me something that wasn’t true. All they did was read the paperwork and tell me everything would be fine and then after the fact asked me for more money.Then to top it all off, they called me a liar said I was attacking them and their status and service are unlike any other in the eye glass field.HA!Mr. Minor:I did try reaching out to you in regards to your visit with us today. In discussion with my staffpertaining this incident, it looks like we did everything we could to take great care of you. In regardsto the misunderstanding, our front office staff stated you asked them how much your exam co-paywas. Which on your policy, was in fact $0. Every insurance plan is different. We see many patientswith VSP insurance who have their entire eye examination covered with a small (usually $10-15copay). Why your insurance plan only covered up to $40 of the exam is very strange, but issomething your employer has signed up for. As a one time courtesy, I did refund you this differencein the exam fee that you owed. Insurances can be very complicated, but it is up to the individual tounderstand what their plan covers. My staff did not mean to mislead you, but were answering yourquestion as you had asked it. On the bright side, it does look like you had a pleasant surprise whenyou found out there had been a credit on your account. Mr. Minor I do feel your attack at our practiceon multiple websites (including facebook and google) are depicting a situation that is simply not true.The quality of care you receive from our doctors and staff is not comparable to that in which you canget an eye exam and glasses for < $100 (as you state had you known it was going to cost thisamount for the exam you would have gone elsewhere). Our expertise, service, and quality productsare what has made this practice into one of the leaders in the industry in the whole Midwest region. I have been going to Eye Care of Iowa for years now. It is very convenient that they have multiple locations around the Des Moines area. The doctors are always friendly and tell youbstep by step what they are doing and why they are doing it. I also purchase my lenses and frames from here. The whole staff os friendly and helpful from the time you enter to the time you leave. I highly recommend Eye Care of Iowa for all ages.

It was my first visit here and I made it clear to the staff that I might be purchasing eyewear elsewhere. They still pulled my benefits authorization I found out after leaving and trying to buy eyeware online. I am completely out of contacts and wanted to buy my glasses asap for the best price with the most choices. They would not give any trial contacts either. When I got home my insurance told me since they pulled the authorization for eyeware I couldnt order glasses and receive my benefit allowance for 3-5 days.The doctor was friendly and answered my questions.

One of the clerks behind the counter was very rude and mean. She insisted that I leave my kids in the car while she printed my childs prescriptions. Unbeknownst to her, leaving children alone in the car is breaking the law. I was about to leave without a prescription another clerk ran out with my prescription. Sad to say that one person ruined my experience with them.

Started off appointment with them running 30 minutes behind (no call to reschedule), then out to tech to pick lenses (had already picked frames) and they were short a person. So in all I was there over 1 1/2 hours for an appointment that should have taken 1/2 that time. Prices are SUPER expensive to any other pair I have purchased at other retailers.
