I had a very traumatic experience here, perpetrated by a therapist, her chain of command, and the executive directors assistant/patient advocate. I am not paranoid, delusional or any kind of addict. They continued to cause great harm for months afterward, and seemed to delight in it. They laughed at me. These are not good people. They have no business around any kind of patient. Horrible, narcissistic monsters.

I felt the male psychiatrist had a difficult time listening to my mental health history and present concerns and his approach on treatment was incredibly old fashioned leaving me with no input on MY health. In the end, he is a child psychiatrist who usually deals with minors and maybe he forgot that he was dealing with an adult who may have a stronger opinion on their treatment plan. I switched facilities immediately and received a more cooperative treatment plan.

This is for your lovely receptionist, who was anything but lovely. I called on behalf of my brother and hung up in tears. Thank goodness he didnt call! It would behoove you, as a mental health provider, to provide compassion training or hire compassionate people for your front end, which is tasked with receiving and HELPING the vulnerable and fragile.

My five star rating goes for the front desk team located on the 2nd floor. The ladies are always so friendly and speedy to assist thank you!!!1st Floor front desk team needs more training unfortunately they had us waiting nearly an hour before we found out that we were not checked in correctly from the beginning so, the provider never knew that we were waiting. Also some of the front desk associates were found to be on their cell phones while we checked in so I found that be rude and careless. Hopefully they get to read this review and change their rude habits.

I tried to locate my brother who has been a patient there for over 20 yrs and the main receptionist woman treated me like i had no right to locate him..that was over 5 yrs ago now..the ppl who work there are very rude to family trying to locate a family mbr lost in the system..Their staff is the worst. At this point I will have to go over their collective heads and call the State and make a complaint to get any info as to where my Brother is in their system and maybe get the local media involved as well

MHCD has been very good to me, right up til this afternoon. Im in a sever downward spiral and called for help. I was transferred to the wrong person twice, couldnt speak with my case manager and was advised to call the crisis line... instead of, you know, my doctor. My goal in using MHCDs services was to try to get myself out of the depressive hole Ive dug for myself. In the last 20 minutes the on-call case manager, John, undid three years of work.

If I could give a 0 star rating I would. Most of their employees need to be receiving mental health treatment. I broke away from them about 4 or 5 years ago and never looked back, never took a single medication for the diagnosis they claimed that I had since and I am a much better person now. It was only recently when I applied for a job with the Transportation Security Administration that I had to get my records from them to learn just how bad things really were. Amongst the inconsistencies of my diagnosis I found lies. I have since verified with Denver Police Department that where my case manager had allegedly contacted them no contact was ever actually made. Not to mention on at least one occasion she contradicted herself claiming that the current vice president told her to stay away from the recovery center just to state in the same note that she told the police they arent a recovery center. Most of the employees listed in my records no longer even work their but its a nightmare dealing with most of the receptionists and people who answer the phones due to the lack of training and their own mental illnesses getting in the way of being able to do their jobs.

It would be wise for some of you to leave advice for everyone on good facilities youve discovered :)

Ive been a client ten years or more. In the past there has been times when they were only taking a small number of new clients and those most in need it without any other options. I dont know how it is now. The biggest problem with MHCD is the same problem with mental illnesss-that is, they are difficult to treat and impossible to cure. This frustration and anger is often directed at the doctors and staff. The belief that a drug regimen should do something immediate and extreme is a false belief. When people need involuntary inpatient treatment it causes paranoia and extreme anger and this again is often directed at the providers.

This is a complaint about the location on 4455 E 12th Ave, Watch out for this comment because it won’t last long here. There are people that don’t care about freedom of speech and I think google is one of them. There three major problems at this clinic that I think need to be addressed. I spoke to the manager with my first complaint but the second time around they would not let me speak with management.Firstly, Dr Marshal made very rude and racist comments to me. I complained about him to management and the situation improved. Among other things he called me a servant which I think was inappropriate and unprofessional he was saying this indirectly and I think this has to change. Its not fair to talk to clients this way.Secondly there is a problem with some of the staff that help with social security applications. Kelsey Shanholts helped me with my application and she didn’t even know that applicants are required to have a certain amount of points to apply, she was very enthusiastic and polite which I think is good but she worked on my case for six months and then told me that I did not have enough work credits. I don’t think this is efficient use of labor. They should have some sort of training for new staff I think this will be cheaper in the long run. Some of the staff here don’t even know the difference between SSI and SSDI I think this should change.Thirdly, there is a problem with their temporary homeless housing program. There is favoritism and preferential treatment when they choose people for these beds. Addisu Haile made an application for me about a year ago and a year later Christina Allard told me that for some reason I had been sidelined because there is a housing crisis in Denver. I then wrote a complaint on google maps and somebody hacked into my account and removed the comment blocking me from the Gmail account where I keep important documentation I am still locked out of one of the accounts and I can’t even access the account using googles recovery system. Christina Allard refused to give me assistance finding housing saying that she was not my case manager but when I asked Dr Cummings I was told that Christina was my case manager. I have been referred back and forth between “coalitions for the homeless” who are now helping me find housing, I have been homeless for close to two years. I don’t think it’s fair to provide services for mentally ill people without case management this is another thing that should change at MHCD.I’ve been hearing voices in my head since 2006. These voices threaten to harm me and put me in prison for my beliefs threatening that they will frame me for crimes I have not committed. Sometimes these voices are scary. I have been taking medication for over three years and not one day have these voices stopped. Now I’m dealing with side effects of the medications because they are very strong.Treatment for schizophrenia costs a lot of money and everybody pays for it directly or indirectly through insurance premiums and Medicare taxes. I think it’s a matter of public interest what happens at this clinic. There are too many people sitting around doing nothing whilst mentally ill patients sit outside homeless facing violence from people that don’t understand them. I don’t think this is fair and I think it’s a pity that nobody cares. Like Obama said “We are the change we seek” I feel people need to know what’s going on here.

Mental Health Center of Denver illegal behavior 02/26/19Hello,I was employed with Mental Health Center of Denver, full-time, since 2014. I was a valued employee, gained promotions, worked in two group homes, no performance issues, and even became a Case Manager. During my employment there, I was exposed to a toxic work environment, unsafe working conditions, a management team that is not afraid to retaliate against their employees, and currently struggle with diagnosed PTSD after working there. Also, they even a Union in place to protect employees. I believe that this is the only Mental Health organization in the state that has a Union. In September of 2016, there was a violent shooting outside of one of the group homes I was doing an overnight shift on. This had scared me and I ended up asking my Co-worker about his thoughts on self-protection; because of his ex-military background. He then informed me that mace is a good alternative and it is cheap with a good range. I thanked him for his advice and purchased mace. However, this individual and I werent on good terms due to his constant bullying and unprofessional ism; despite my nice friendly treatment towards him. As his bullying statements continued, I outreached my manager for a scheduled mediation to discuss his behavior; however, events turned that would forever change my life.Instead of coming to me directly, I received a call from my manager, Emily, the day before the scheduled mediation. She claimed I could not return to work and was forcefully placed on FMLA. She then said that I could not return to work until I completed a psychiatric evaluation called a Certification of Fitness for Duty. The evaluation they gave me literally described me as a schizophrenic and said I could not return to work until I was cleared. I saw a professional, got the Union involved, and was cleared to return to work immediately. I do not have a history of mental illness, was a valued employed, and had no performance issues or discipline. This was clear, vicious retaliation, discrimination and I still have the documentations.Ultimately, after I completed this evaluation, I then had beg to meet with the head of HR (after he began dodging Union rep emails) to plead and advocate for my job. Of course I told them what a mistake this was, but these psychiatric professionals had me actually believing that I was impaired. The head of HR literally also attempted to cut my hours before I could return stating, “this is what we do when something like this happens.” I then informed him that I would not be intimated with his scare tactics and requested a transfer to a different group home. Then after getting Union reps to help mediate the situation, I eventually was transferred to a different group home. However, I worked there for an additional six months, but I was continuously harassed by management, treated different and eventually quit due to burn out. A manager literally pulled me aside and ask me if I was hearing voices. Prior to this incident, I never had any concerns, questions, issues, not any thought towards concerns regarding my mental health. After working there for 3 years, I am not the only member they have retaliated against. I worked with a nurse there who is now my dear friend. They used similar tactics against her. I found her to be an amazing nurse and was highly professional and still is to this day. However, when she started pointed out major issues within the company, they wrote her up three days in a row and forced her to quit. To this day she will state, Something happened to me there and I am not the same person.” There are numerous accounts of employees that they retaliate against, harass, and attempt to ruin careers if you even remotely cause a problem for them. Please help me bring them to justice.Thank you,Andrew Jeske

I was with this organization for over ten years and its a scam. Most of the employees and management are raking disporportunately high salaries from the state and federal funding and depositing their undeserved windfalls into their personal accounts - but failing to provide clients with anything other than a few wasted minutes of their time once a month. These are con artists.

This place has a huge percentage of dope addicts all getting benefits on a government free ride - this dilutes the number and quality of services to those of us who have genuine genetic mental illnesses and not something caused by pumping chemicals into our blood.
