If there were a star to represent a number lower than zero, that would be the one selected. This is the worst hospital as it relates to nurses and doctors. I am writing on behalf of my mother. She was admitted there and the staff, including their admitting doctor, was rude and uncaring. You would expect better treatment, especially during COVID when you cannot visit your loved ones regularly. There was a lack of credible information (still waiting on results from an MRI test) and no explanation of care so informed decisions could be made. Made every decision for their benefit. My mother was given a foley catheter because they could not bother to change her when she peed. She was given a PEJ tube even though I specified a PEG tube...did not even know there was a PEJ tube until case manager explained to us. When the consent was given for the tube, I clearly told the nurse a PEG tube and I also told the doctor that I preferred tubing that would allow for mouth-feeding sometimes, not continuous feeding but he inserted the one he wanted. I highly suggest that phone consents be recorded!I do not know what medications they gave my mother because they said she had kidney failure when they discharged her. My moms kidneys are fine with probably more output than mine. They pretty much gave up on my mother since she has dementia and was non-responsive in a new environment with new people. They gave up so much so that they lied and said I requested hospice care for my mother. Per her discharge papers, hospice is waiting in the wings 1-2 days after she leaves the hospital. The nerve! My mother is home at my insistence and she is doing perfectly fine!!!They also lied and said they did swallow tests to see if my mother would eat, they did not. According to them, she would not open her mouth so how are you going to perform a swallow test? I left messages for someone in administration to call me back, I am yet to receive a phone call. I would call to check on my moms progress and I would be given answers that she is the same. What does that mean to a lay person who cannot visit his/her loved one to see firsthand? A nurse went so far as to hang up on me, telling me she was talking to a doctor. I guess that was more important.Discharge was not better. She did not come home as scheduled because of the unorganized fashion in which everything was scheduled. The next day, when my mom arrived, the transporters just dropped her in bed and could not answer any questions due to language barriers I just received a bag with discharge instructions and personal items. Additionally, they sent feed but the feed they sent was not compatible with the feed pump they ordered. Luckily, the other company had sent feed also. If not, my mother probably would not be here right now. Also, when she got home, her glucose level was 66. So they took her off the feed, with no feeding during transport. I shudder to think what would have happened had anything gone wrong during the transport.Careless, unprofessional, uncaring, incompetent are only a few words I can use to describe the treatment or lack there of and actions at this facility. I pray I or no one I know will ever have to end up there. I must give credit to some members of the ICU staff and nurses Nathan and Audrey; they did try to impart some information but not much to help the situation. My mother is 79, with dementia and diabetes. The message I got from the treatment she received a Delray Medical Center is that she is unimportant and so she is disposable.

I would prefer to rate them a minus 10! This is by far the worst hospital experience I have ever been a part of! No dr saw a patient brought in with congestive heart failure for 38 hours! Left sitting on a bed pan for 2 hours! They are understaffed and incapable of taking care of rats let alone humans with medical issues! The nurses do try but they are overworked and blamed by the doctors if you complain about your care! If you want to stay alive STAY AWAY from this so called hospital!,

This is the worst emergency room ever. I am trying to be kind and appreciative of all the nurses and the stress they are under, but literally they have no bed side manners and don’t ask a question they respond with rudeness and without compassion. The emergency room is packed and everyone is over worked but it doesn’t give them the right to treat people without dignity . I can only imagine what kind of medical care is actually been giving to patients .I had to assist elderly people in the wiring area because they annoyed the desk clerk by asking too many questions .I understand the emergency room is for trauma patients — which is a very stressful environment. If you can’t work under this kind of stress , you should regrets to work in a different department.

Delray Medical ER was a nightmare. I went there yesterday due to having stroke symptoms. Initially the staff was very attentive and doctors were good. This was around 2:30. My day nurse Roxy seemed competent. I hadn’t eaten all day and was beginning to feel dehydrated. I asked for water and was told I couldn’t have it until after my MRI. Roxy said they also had a nice room for me. At 5:30 I asked about MRI and was told I had to wait. By this time I had unhooked all monitors and walked to the restroom. Nobody stopped me. Bodies were piling up in the hall and I noticed that Roxy was no longer there. At 7:30 I walked to nurses station to ask about food or drink. They said I had to wait until after MRI. Meanwhile man in gurney in front of my room pooped in bed. Staff made jokes. Man was not taken card of for awhile. I heard one woman yelling fir staff member to not be mean. Finally at 9:30 I called out when nurse passed my room. I asked what was going on and she told me MRI is in morning and my room was given away. At that point I got up and got dressed. If I had died in that room, nobody would have noticed. I knew I’d be safer at home. When I told staff I was leaving, one nurse said that I shouldn’t. The rest said just let her go. But put a mask on. That apparently is their most important duty. If you don’t mind losing your dignity and don’t card about your care, go here. Me never again.

Shame on you Delray Medical Center. My wife was in for a procedure and on the check in she stated that she was allergic to a specific pain medication. They put a bracelet on her wrist about the allergy. They not only have her the medication when she was in pain but she refused it on the second day. They actually sent her home for a prescription for the same medicine. They have the nerve to charge for both of those doses and continue to say that we owe them for this. I have fought it but it is all within their own system, so I am finally going to pay them just to get rid of them. As a Delray Beach resident, it pains me to say STAY AWAY FROM DELRAY MEDICAL CENTER!

This was the worst experience of my life. I fell, was taken to DelrayMedical Emergency because it was close. Big, Big mistake. 3 hours before I received a pain pill, over 7 hours laying in ER only to have them tell me nothing was wrong. I left my orthopedist the next day with a cast for my broken radius. My insurance company paid over 6,000.00 for a horrific experience and now I am being harassed for 123.00. I really thought Tenent ran a better facility, but stay away. Far, far away.UPDATE: the automated response given - that gives the impression they want to hear more - went unanswered after sending an email. After being harassed constantly for 123.00 I reluctantly paid it to avoid collection. I now know why the hospital is called “Delray Death”. Horrible in every way. The billing department repeatedly said they would check and call back. Unanswered letters. Last place I would ever go if I. Red health care.

Let me start by saying I had severe pneumonia and fever and I was delirious and have no recollection of my time here. I am basing this review off of what my family told me had happened. I apparently woke up one morning acting very strange and seeming to have trouble breathing. My wife brought me to Delray Medical Center. I was discharged in a few hours even though my symptoms had not improved. It was a few hours later that things got even worse and i was rushed to the hospital, but my family told them under no circumstances to take me back to this hospital. I woke up in the ICU a day or 2 later, ended up staying in the ICU for a week before my breathing had improved enough to take my off oxygen. Bethesda did a great job of taking care of me and took my sickness seriously. Delray Medical center DISCHARGED ME AFTER A FEW HOURS EVEN THOUGH I WAS DYING!If you have a serious issue you should stay away from this place. Based on what happened to me and reading other peoples reviews I find it hard to believe that this hospital is even allowed to practice medicine.

Ive never seen anything like the neglect I saw in this hospital. My elderly father was a cardiac patient on the first floor where TARA was the Charge Nurse. The first night, he fell out of his bed while trying to get up after his calls to the nurse were ignored for over an hour. He was covered in bruises on his arms, legs and head.He was running a fever and asked for more blankets to keep warm. He was told by TARA that he didnt need any more blankets and was then ignored for the following four hours that he tried to call for a nurse. The port on his IV came loose and loud alarms were sounding in his room. Nobody came. I had to run to the nurses stand to ask someone to come help him. Then, it happened again when I wasnt there. The alarms were going off for 15 minutes. Nobody came. My father called me, and I had to call the nurses station from outside the hospital to ask someone to go help him. By that time, there was blood all over his sheets. By the time I got to the hospital, his port had been replaced, but he was laying in blood-soaked sheets. I tried to communicate with TARA and she rudely dismissed me. The next day, we called THREE TIMES to speak with TARA and all three times she refused to take our calls. Ultimately, we had to check my sick father out of this awful place and take him to a better hospital.

My wife was admitted to the ER last night due to a personal mental health issue. She was restrained to her bed, and no one made an effort to check up on her. She had to scream ( in English AND Spanish) to let someone know that she had to urinate. She was finally able to get the attention of one of the transporters (thank you, Eric); who was able to finally assist her. In addition; she was admitted around 4:45pm, and was not offered anything to eat until breakfast this morning.

It’s always unfortunate when you have to visit the emergency room, no matter the cause. Without detail of my specific reasons I will share the unprofessional manner that was displayed for the entirety of my visit. I had a room right outside of the desk. During my 4.5 hour stay I saw numerous younger people that worked there walking around with their masks down below their face. I understand that things have changed when it comes to vaccinated people but why are you wearing a mask if you’re going to have it down, in a HOSPITAL to say the least? We also heard the staff making fun of a patient who came in with a stroke. There were multiple remarks made that literally baffled me. I have never experienced this type of unprofessional behavior at a hospital and no matter the emergency, I will never return to Delray Medical again. Don’t go here. Drive to Boca!

As my nephew posted approximately a month ago, my brother was admitted with Covid, and was treated using outdated protocols. My brother had no significant comorbidities whatsoever, lived a very healthy, active lifestyle. The point was his son requested treatment from his PCP of 30+ years, Infectious Disease consultants, and was completely ignored in spite of evidence of a potential life saving protocol without explanation. He ws finally referred back to his PCP as the only practitioner that could give the approval as my brothers condition continued to worsen. It was relayed to me the PCP wouldnt budge on the approval based primarily on his continued need to be liked by his physician peers which seemed to be more important than evidence based literature to the contrary indicating at least some degree of success, particularly in clients with no comorbidities such as my brother. This was heartbreaking news about the death of a man, a brother, a father. Based on what, pride & fear of evidence based medicine certainly come to mind....

I am sitting in the lobby and I had to call the receptionist who was no help at all. I had to get upset before anyone would call to tell me anything. They had my number and my sisters number and no one called. They have a room full of people waiting for a word from someone. I know this is a surgical center but they still deal with customers that pay for a service. Their customer service skills suck. The receptionist tried to pass the buck. Instead of trying to find out what was going on in the back. . (Edited changed from 1 star to 4 stars-The only reason it changed, my mother had a good experience with the nurses in the back. You all have to remember the family members who are worried about their loved ones. Don’t brush us off for over 5 hrs . Again customer service skills go along way. I can understand 1 visitor at a time per room, but restricting to 1 per day is absurd. My dad had a small stroke and is very confused. Now just because my sister visited for 15 minutes after church Im not allowed to be in the room and help him communicate. His nurse came down and brought me upstairs for a little while but a security guard tracked me down and demanded I leave. I understand rules but the mindless enforcement of rules drives me bonkers. Beware, the administration of Delray Medical Center doesnt care about their patients. My 94 year old grandfather has been there for over a week and we have witnessed a severe lack of empathy and medical expertise. He was first in their Lakeview Rehab center after taking a fall. He was, thankfully, fine after fall and did not break anything. While there they were feeding him a liquid diet while he was laying on his back. As one would guess, he aspirated and contracted pneumonia. Then he was moved back into the main hospital and kept in telemetry/a step down unit. Here is where the experience goes from bad to worse. While keeping him bedridden it took 5 days to get him compression socks to prevent DVT and over 6 days to get a specific mattress to mitigate the pressure sores he was getting from being stuck in the bed.On top of all of this, the medical center has an absolutely ridiculous 1 VISITOR A DAY rule in effect. This means if my uncle comes in early to see his father no one else in the family can see him. When we brought a complaint to the hospital about this abusive rule, we were told that maybe by July the rule would change. This does nothing for us now, and nothing for my grandfather who has been asking to see us.On a one good note, the nurses I interacted with were all very good and caring. They should move to better hospitals.Overall, we are incredibly unhappy with Delray Medical Center. I would NOT suggest bringing a loved one here EVER. They do not care for their patients and give lackluster care when the patient is with them

Ive been a licensed Registered Nurse and a kidney transplant administrator for over 40 years in New York. I came down to Florida to be with my sister who was in the TrustBridge Hospice Unit this past May 2021 into June. When I first arrived I was impressed with the front of the building and the lobby, it was clean and neat and I had high hopes for my sisters remaining days. Thats where my great impression ended! (Its a good thing Im not an inspector for JACHO, DOH or CMS.) As I walked down the corridors passing by patients rooms I noticed that the patient rooms were unkept with garbage pails overflowing with trash, blue rubber gloves on the floor and coming out of sharp containers. Patients had very little privacy as I could notice several patients being exposed with their Foley Catheters and open hospital gowns etc. while the staff attended to them without closing the doors. I could plainly hear their HIPPA protected conversations going on. Staff were going from room to room without cleaning their hands with alcohol based cleaners available. The hallways were cluttered with equipment as I took the elevator or the stairs (elevators were not working for several days) to the second floor. Once I arrived at the TrustBridge Hospice Unit and spent nearly three weeks with my sister I realized that the nurses for TrustBridge seem to have very little interaction with my sister other than giving her meds and walking out of the room. The Hospice unit was nothing more than a Med/Surg unit that did not reflect true hospice care. My sisters room was unkept with pillow bulging from the closet doors along with partially drank juice containers from the day before. Her view was nothing more than the roof top outside her window. There was nothing cheerful about her surroundings. The Hospice staff rarely made eye contact with my sister or my family and seemed to lack the understanding or compassion of true hospice care. When my sister was vomiting one of the aides stood at the foot of her bed while she struggling to hold the emesis basin under her chin. The doctors seemed more compassionate and willing to answer questions then the nursing staff. The floor staff seemed more interested in keeping visitors at bay, rather then attending to my sisters needs until I made a complaint to the supervisor. Trustbridge Hospice needs to reevaluate the real meaning of the word Hospice, not just for the dying but for the family as well. As far as the Delray Medical Center goes...they need to clean up their act before CMS, DOH or JACHO does a surprise inspection.Update 8/2/21: I emailed the medical center after first posting my observations and they requested my contact info. Guess what ...no response. They make it sound like they truly care and follow up with concerns... but they dont. Its obvious to me that they lack a solid QAPI (Quality Assurance Performance Improvement) program that address complaints and concerns. My guess is they wouldnt ignore a complaint or concern sent to JACHO. Hmmm.Update 8/3/21: Finally heard back from Trustbridge Hospice today. I had a productive conversation with their patient advocate coordinator. I expressed my concerns about their hospice unit at the Delray Medical Center. Im hoping that they will consider my observations and possible corrective actions in order to make their hospice unit more compassionate and empathic for both the dying and their families. As far as the Delray Medical Center is concerned, my observations and concerns seemed to go unaddressed by their leadership.Update 8/6/2021: Heard back from the Delray Medical Center patient advocate via email they stated we walked the hallway to the elevator we took notes and made changes. In consideration of family members of hospice patients and privacy will now use a more direct entrance to the hospice unit. I hope they walked by the units on the second floor where I noticed most of the issues. Small changes can make a huge difference since first impressions are ever lasting for patents, visitors, & JACHO.

Stay away if you can. This Hospital was a nightmare. My father, a 70 year old man with Parkinson’s, was in the ICU for 10 days after an open heart surgery. We were calling all day every day and felt like we were “chasing” the nurses over the phone to get an update on his health. Every single time we were placed on hold for 20-30 min and sometimes hung up on by one of them.In three different occasions I drove crying to the hospital to ask the front desk to get a hold of a nurse for me because I couldn’t reach anyone over the phone. They physically restrained my dad without our knowledge or consent. It was a nightmare. Doctors were highly praised for their competency afterwards, but we never heard from any of them during his ten days in the ICU.There was one cardiac ICU Nurse named Michael who actually cared and brought us news and kind words one night when I went to the hospital. He was the only one who reached out to keep us updated. Everyone else’s M.O. was “he’s fine” when later we found out his complications ran much worse than we were told about, and their treatment of him inhumane. There are so many complaints about this hospital, hopefully the director will address these problems and not just sit there and watch families being desperate without information about their loved ones when theyre making so much money with these procedures. Their treatment of families and silence where patients conditions are concerned at a time where due to COVID-19 we can’t be physically there is abhorrent.

While the CDC has relaxed COVIG guidelines, I found it ridiculous that Delray Medical Center only allows one visitor per day. The excuse they claim is COVIG related. So I ask myself, why then was temperature reading not being taken of all visitors at reception desk? My dad was admitted on Monday, May 31. One son who was free to visit was denied the opportunity to see him because of the one visitor per day rule. Hey, DMC, why not check visitors in properly and allow one visitor per visit - that way a limited number of family members can be involved.

Unconscionable! The policy of this place is a disgrace! Brought my husband to the emergency room with a probable heart attack. He also suffers from dementia. I was fully prepared to wear a mask and social distance but their policy is no one but patients and staff allowed in the building. They took my husband back and told me to wait outside or in my car. Outside their were 4 senior females in the Florida heat sitting on uncomfortable benches. I had told the personnel that they would get no answers from my husband. To make a long story short, after many hours the 4 of us were still outside waiting. Nobody had given updates to our husbands conditions, nobody came out to offer water or even check up on us.I was finally told to go home. At 1:49 in the morning my phone rang with a call from the hospital. I started shaking. The woman on the other end asked me if my husband had a DNR. I started hyperventilating and sweating and asked what happened, what was going on with him. She replied that nothing was going on, they had a DNR on file and just wanted to verify it was still good. At 1:49 in the morning!?They moved my husband onto the cardiac floor and I asked what his visiting hours were. They told me that he was in a shared room and absolutely no visitors allowed. I reiterated that he had dementia and I needed to be with him. They refused. To make another long story short, his nurses called me consistently to talk to him and calm him down, persuade him to stop pulling out his tubes and monitors, convince him that he was in the hospital and not in a store and so on.This whole experience was a nightmare, cruel and unnecessary. They were told as soon as we stepped foot in the er that we were both fully vaccinated for over 2 months. Also, their patient waiting room was completely empty.I will be contacting an attorney

As a result of a bad reaction to the second Phizer shot and a fall I spent a day in the emergency room.....never took off my shoes or clothing all day....never offered a drink or food.....at about 5:30 PM I was told that I was discharged.....I asked what happens now.......was told you’re good to go . And left alone in the room. I climbed out of the bed (afraid that I might fall) by myself and walked out of the room with no assistance....did not know which way to go and someone pointed to the exit sign....went out to the ER waiting room and began to hemorrhage heavily from the IV removal...a nurse came out, and rebandaged me....then I was left alone again to walk outside to wait for my husband to come and pick me up. Seems a bit negligent!

I was a patient at Del Ray Medical Center in December. I had a horrendous experience from preoperative to discharge. I wrote a complaint to the Chief Nursing Officer and the Group Chief Nursing Officer and never heard back from either of them. I did hear back from two Directors that provided lame excuses for their staff. An example from one Director is that she told her staff that if they were going to be on their phone they should tell the patient they are doing research. What about putting the phone away and taking care of your patients? I would never recommend this hospital. P.S. I am a former Vice President for Patient Care/Chief Nursing Officer.

I am a physician. Delray Medical Center may be fine for elective (non-emergency) and outpatient procedures. It is the trauma center for the surrounding area. But in the event of an emergency, it is important that patients and their families - especially the elderly - avoid this hospital.Delray Medical Center is owned by the Tenet group, one of the largest for-profit hospital groups in the US. These hospitals can be identified by the teal stripe on their signs. When a settlement is calculated in a medical malpractice suit, the remaining years of a patient’s life are taken into account. That is, if someone dies of medical malpractice at age 40, their estate will be awarded much much more money than if they had died of malpractice at 80 (because many more years of life were lost.) What this means, effectively, is that for-profit hospitals do not need to worry about medical malpractice for their elderly patients. My father was brought to Delray Medical Center at my request after falling at home and breaking his hip. I regret this tremendously. I expected that, given its status as a regional trauma center, the care there would be similar to that I am accustomed to in the academic setting in which I practice. It became very obvious very quickly that Delray Medical Center remains an old fashioned, low-tech community hospital grafted onto a profit generating oncology/cardiac surgery center. This is a very common model. As soon as he arrived, before being seen by a physician, my father (complaining of pain) was given morphine. He then experienced respiratory failure and aspiration which would later become a pneumonia. If I had not been present to summon the nurse, who administered Narcan (an opioid reversal agent used in heroin overdoses), he probably would have died in the ER. Later, he was given more morphine on the floor, requiring intubation and transfer to the intensive care unit. While the ICU doctor and the consultant orthopedic surgeons have been kind and caring, the support staff, administration, and many of the nurses could not be more transparent in their lack of interest. As of this writing, three days after his hip fracture, his surgery has been bumped to another day. Multiple reasons have been given: a trauma came in, there was an ENT emergency, his platelets are too low (the surgeon would later confirm he was not concerned about his platelet count.) If I were not in medicine, I probably would not realize that these are attempts at deception that are insulting in their obviousness. Tenet will make a few thousand more dollars while he’s in the ICU, so no one cares. His case is being bumped so the anesthetist can go home at 4 PM. So it goes !Avoid this hospital.

Compared to JFK or Bethesda Hospitals, this is the worst place you could send a loved one. You loose control of the care and costs the minute your loved one is admitted. Dont even try to ask for a discount on your bill, unlike JFK who will give you a discount if paid in full. Terrible hospital and personnel!!!So, this is the second part to my review. I was never contacted by patient experience. But, I was contacted again by the billing office, in which they told me again that they do not discount there bills. I asked her why she called again to tell me NO, she said just to say we contacted you. I wrote a letter to the CFO, Michelle Cartwright. Stay tuned!I won’t bore you with the details of the second letter I received explaining why they do not give a discount. Basically it’s because they don’t! No reason, just they don’t. Stay far away from this hospital. They will admit you for anything just for the money.

However, we have to give exceptional thanks to Nurses Laura and Rachel in the COVID/ICU for their unbelievable care and graciousness while our father was passing. They did not leave his side for one minute and accepted many, many calls from family members who wished to say goodbye but could not see him in person. They stayed by his bedside and held the phone for us to say goodbye and grieved along with us all. We cannot thank them enough for going above and beyond to help our family through this difficult time. These nurses deserve special acknowledgement for their professionalism and excellence in their fields.

Worst care ive ever received in my life. I was in a car accident literally brought in on ambulance and moved to a wheelchair, wheeled to the corner of the waiting room and waited for 6 hours to be seen. Then I was brought to the back and kept on a hospital bed in the hallway. Along with 2-3 other patients. The only time I was seen was by the paramedics on the way and the xray / cat scan Drs. I was discharged a total of 8 hours later with no paper work or after care instructions. Mind you I have brokens ribs and a concussion from a previous accident less than a week ago.

As part of actively being in therapy for severe C-PTSD, I was encouraged to write/talk about my most traumatic experiences, I figured why not make it public and actually expose the abusers? after all, the trauma isnt the problem, its the abuse that created it, that everyone wants to overlook and instead gaslight and blame victims. in 2015-2016 I was at the lowest point for my physical health, and consequently for my mental health. I had been diagnosed with CRPS at age 23, and since nobody really knew what that was at the time, I was resigned to a life of constantly changing treatments and medications which didnt work. during a particularly bad pain flare I was taken to the hospital by ambulance, for PHYSICAL pain mind you, and the doctor decided not only was I just drug seeking, but I was also mentally ill and mostly lying about my conditions (nobody has that many legitimate health issues simultaneously said the doctor). I was then strapped to a bed by my legs (even though I couldnt walk and relied fully on a wheelchair), my legs which were so nerve damaged, so painful to the slightest touch that just shaving or even sleeping with sheets on or wearing socks was completely out of the question. they knew this, yet they insisted I was simply crazy. they admitted me to their psych ward where I was beaten by male nurses so badly I was covered in scratches and bruises by the time I left. I was having seizures, several a day and even in an hour, to which the staffs response was to let me calm down in a padded cell with NO medical treatment. they initially insisted the seizures were fake, and just another exaggerated mental symptom, but after the third major one I think they realized it was real and readmitted me to the hospital. I dont remember anything from those almost two days except waking up and again not knowing where I was or why. I was told after I was medically cleared, I would go back to the psych ward and continue to suffer and deteriorate without proper treatment, and thats exactly what happened. finally, the next day I spoke to the psychiatrist who immediately determined I was no threat to my own or anyone elses life, and I was definitely not mentally ill but suffering severely in immense and unrelenting physical pain which was causing my emotional pain and subsequent mental illnesses. I was discharged with a $6000 bill and when I attempted to report the male psych nurses who abused me, as well as the hospital manager who ordered me to be tied down by my broken legs, I was told no. NO, I could not file a complaint, I could not go to the police, I could not prevent this from happening to someone else as I am sure it has and continues to. the medical system is not built to HELP patients, it only caters to those they know they can fix, and if youre not fixable then YOU are ultimately the problem. this hospital should be shut down for the safety of the general public but knowing it wont be, I can only hope that someone doesnt go through the torture I was subjected to at the hands of incompetent and abusive doctors and nurses.edit: no, I will not e-mail you so that you can pretend to do your job now that its far too little too late. you are as complicit in patient abuse as the actual doctors/nurses and I hope you get admitted to your own hospital someday, that would be the most fitting punishment I could imagine.

Your nursing staff in CVICU and CVstepdown are fantastic. Especially the Brian in ICU and Jeremy in stepdown. However, the business office (registration)is difficult to deal with. I am 68 and work full time for a company that employs and insures well over a hundred people. Medicare says that if a employer provides insurance for more than 20 people, the employer insurance is primary. I tried several times to inform your registration staff of this and that my Medicare is secondary. On Pre-registration before surgery, they told me I was wrong and gathered three people together to tell me that the computer picked the Medicare as primary, so I was wrong. Actually I went for an office visit after surgery and they denied me service because they still said my primary is not my primary and I needed Pre approval to get labs and a chest x Ray per my secondary. So I called my primary insurance company and they confirmed they are primary and Medicare insurance confirmed they are secondary. Not only did you lose money on that service on Tuesday but I will sue if you file the wrong claimed and it is denied. I tried calling registration again today but no one picks up the phone. Again nursing staff and care is great, but financial needs improvement.

I was recently admitted to the ER and had to lay on a bed in the middle of the hallway. In addition, I was there 6 hours. Aside from a few tests, I was left to sit there the rest of the time with very little attention. Also, the front desk person in the waiting room was wearing his mask on his chin, not covering his face. Patients were coming in with no mask or half on their face. Most of the staff wore their masks but 1 did not and was walking around the ER with NO MASK. Another took hers off when she was behind the desk. They also were not social distancing at all. Most of the staff took the COVID protocol too lightly and I was concerned for my owned safety. I still am at this point. I finally had to get up and call for the dr. and insist that she give me the results and release me. It was a bad situation.

Absolutely the worst experience we have EVER encountered in a medical facility. I have been in the healthcare field for over 25 years and I am appalled by the level of care rendered (or I should say the lack of care rendered). Our son went to the hospital post lumbar and neck steroid injections with severe pain, tremors and hallucinations only to be left in the hallway alone. We live four hours from him and due to COVID we could not travel to be with him. He called us via his cell and begged us to help him. We tried calling the ER, Charge Nurse and no one answered. We then called back to the operator only to have him hang up on us and he was completely unprofessional and rude. We had to call the Del Ray Police Dept to send someone over to the ER to get get him help. As parents we felt helpless. Absolutely no compassion - the nurse in the hallway yelled at him and told him to get off his cell phone! Our son was not provided adequate care and we would have thought the doctors would have spoken to us to let us know what the plan was for him - instead he was discharged and sent in severe pain and confusion via Uber. I would NEVER recommend this hospital.

Worst experience of my life!!!! So, first I went to the ER that works with delray medical center off of lantana and jog for a broken ankle. They got me in pretty quick took X-rays and then said I would need to be admitted to delray medical center to get surgery. I was like okay how do I get there and they said they would call an ambulance and transfer me to the med-surg to hopefully get surgery that morning. I broke my ankle Friday night at about 11:30 I arrived to the er. I was informed the ambulance was backed up and it would be about 5 hours until they were able to pick me up which was I was told around 12:30am. So that means I would be picked up approximately at 5:30am. Well...lets just say that didnt happen. The nurse claimed she kept calling and getting an eta and she would tell me about 30 minutes until they get here. Well she kept saying that every single time she came to check on me. I was waiting until I want to say about 10am that morning. So there goes my surgery. I wasnt able to eat so they just kept me on IVs. Finally I was transferred to the medical center and had a room and a bed ready for me. They didnt know whether or not I was going into surgery so I still couldnt eat. The first nurse was very nice and helpful I think her name was Alexis she was absolutely great! I loved her. She made sure I was comfortable. Then shift change happened at 7...well this other nurse I think her name was Lishanda, she was the worst nurse I could have had. They told me I could eat now, so my mother brought me subway and left before the shift change. I saw the nurse come in at about 7pm and then again at 8pm to give me more pain meds as I was in excruciating pain. Then I tried to get some rest but I was just in so much pain I couldnt sleep. I saw the nurse again at about 10:30 which she was 30 minutes late to give me my pain meds and my regular meds. Mind you Im only 21 years old and I have lupus and RA and on top of everything I suffered a trimalleolar fracture and needed surgery. I wasnt able to eat past midnight because I was having surgery at 8:30 in the morning, which I had to ask because I was not informed by anyone. Then I tried to get some sleep and I eventually drifted off but then woke up at about 11:30 in excruciating pain and I dialed my nurse and told her I was about to throw up probably a side effect from the morphine I was given. She said she was on her way. I threw up everywhere I still had my subway cup next to me so I opened it and threw up in there and all over the bed and myself. Well I waited 10 minutes for her. She finally came in and helped me clean the sheets and myself up, I also had peed in the bed because the external catheter they gave me wasnt attached properly. I was a mess. All she did was put another pee pad down. Then helped me to get up and go to the bathroom which I didnt think I was allowed but I felt disgusting. After that she told me to press the button when I was done using the toilet. So I did and no one came to help me for 30 MINUTES. I was sitting on the toilet with my broken ankle and all the blood rushing to it with no support hanging there for 30 minutes. Some other girl came and she was pregnant and wasnt a cna I have no idea who it was but she tried to help me as much as she could I told her I wanted to brush my teeth and wash my face. She gave me all the items I needed in my bed because I was not allowed to get up. Then the nurse came in about 15 minutes later and was like oh good you made it back to your bed....Im just like YEP. Im furious on pain meds and in a significant amount of pain. I just dont understand...continue reading on Yelp.

After a month or so I receive another bill for another 1100 $ My husband tried to figure it out and called the hospital, cust.care and we were told that we have 2 pay because the insurance paid their part and the 1100 $WE HAVE TO PAY.!?NEVER EVER I experienced such an unprofessional medical center and I have been almost every year hospitalized due to health issues. I asked the doctor after surgery follow up if was anything unexpected or complications and his answer was negative, personally I asked even in recovering room if all was good and I was told that everything was perfect as they expected. Amazingly this center billed my insurance for over 124.000$!!!!!!! and they received 100.000 less., so how in heaven they can play with peoples finances in a pandemic when I told them I dont work and all I asked was a settlement, they refused, they are like robots reading a script, even my lawyer sent them a letter explaining how they misleading patients. 2 weeks before I received 2 more bills each of 98 $ , the cust.care rep told me one is for the anesthesia and the other 98 for the dr.who mix the anesthesia !!! My insurance paid those amounts!!! I dont know what to expect , probably I should go to look into a fraud analyst or small court potential case.I will never ever put my foot in that hospital , I had a great treatment at JFK N with no games and lies I regret now I did not look for a surgeon there.Same on you Delray Medical you are ripping off your patients I, wont be surprised if one day I see story about you on American Greed..

I don’t know what he saw, as he helped me out of the tub, he told me we were going to the ER. I thought I was ok & I humored him. Thought we’d go & have it checked out. But that wasn’t the case. I went in an ambulance to the Delray Medical center. There was a middle aged woman dressed as a nurse who did not announce herself to me but started going through ALL my belongings‼️When she found any kind of pill, she raised it up high & showed it to all the other nurses in the room. “Aha!! Look what I Found”. After my clothing, she thoroughly searched my purse!!! And she found 4-5 pills that were from 1 1/2 Yrs ago. I had actually been looking for them recently & couldn’t find them. My hip had been hurting me. I thought I had discarded them. She was sooo pleased with herself!!! I felt VIOLATED & ANGRY. She threatened to strip my bed to look for more pills I had HIDDEN‼️😱‼️I jumped quickly out of bed & said,Please be my guest! So they searched my bed!!I was furious!! I have no idea why this woman had violated me in such a manner. I am immediately told her to get out of my room. She didn’t move so I raise my voice and said get out of my room again. She didn’t move, so as I said get out of my room I move forward towards her and she began to hightail it out. And then I told her she would and she was fat‼️ I needed to hurt her as she had hurt me. I didn’t fall asleep that night until after 2 o’clock in the morning. My wonderful night nurse gave me something IV that was supposed to quiet me down.I was in a trauma ward. I am 76 Yrs old. I was not acting abnormal or unusual. Nobody explained her behavior.Needless to say, this was a HORRIBLE experience. And now I can’t get anything but a busy signal at the Center. I can’t get in touch with anyone to find out why I was searched. Is this something they do to all patients? Is this horrible nurse supposed to act triumphant each time she comes across any pills she finds, herbal or otherwise??I can’t get in touch with anyone in the hospital, whoops, not Hospital, Center‼️‼️

I will make sure if anyone has a choice not to go there. Someone hit me as I was riding my bike and they called an ambulance and that is where i was taken. I have no idea who the head doctor was in the ER, no one not once came to see me while i was in trauma and any information i received was from the nurses. They ran the whole show, when i went for my second mri, the tech kept us waiting talking to someone about what type of masks he needed and then his boss called to complain he had not signed out. Since i was very uptight about getting the mri since i am claustrophobic, they gave me a ball to Squeeze in case i needed them but when i squeezed the ball no one responded and some girl pulled me out of the machine and would not help me out. My legs are extremely tight from the accident and i can barely move them, i was shocked. Older comments seem to have been heard as the room is clean and bright with a (to me) big screen flat TV with 40 channels of Direct TV. The purveyor of food has changed very recently and is getting up to speed on the needs of patients and staff. You do not go to the hospital to have fine food, but creative names and nice presentation even make the jello appetizing. I applaud the dedication and professionalism of the nursing staff especially during this crowded flu season. The ER was fast to diagnose and recognize what I needed, especially since there are many aspects to my current stay, While capacity has increased, the wait for the room was not short, There is a new CEO for this institution and many changes are in store. This has been my hospital of choice over the last 5 years since I moved 5 years ago.

If there is one word to describe my experience at Delray Medical Center it is : Disorganized. My discharge process was ridiculous. I finished all my tests, they were all negative, by 11AM. My nurse, who was nice and helpful, was unable to get the Hospital Dr. to sign off on the discharge paperwork until 5pm. His answer to the nurse was he did not get, or see the multiple requests sent by the nurse. Six hours waiting. Unacceptable.

Worst experience ever 1st went to annex on jog and lantana on 21,for stroke symptoms. The cat scan was done while I was half was sitting up and speaking, 30 seconds. They advised me to go to hospital, also 3 nurses had to work repeatedly trying iv. I went home because I heard disturbing things about delraySo I went last night after stopping at Annes to request they send my test results, they said I needed and mri asap. We got to hospital and waited with other people for 30 mins while lobby was empty,I got in room and needed 3 more nurses try Unsuccessfully the iv again. This is er it is not acceptable not to know how to do this.i was told at 145vam I was waiting for cat scan I was in excruciating pain and offered tylenol. So at 530 am I called my husband to get me.there was an elderly woman waiting in hall for room for 10 hours, my blood was left in room table during the 5 hours I was there. I wish I read the terrible reviews, felt like I was in 3rd world country also my records were never sent over.Never Again, Stay Away!!!! And dont even think about billing me

On August 5th 2020 I check into the ER to receive blood transfusion. My wife and I understood that this was a outpatient procedure. Instead (without our knowledge) they had me checked in as a patient to be examined by Doctors I didn’t know. I was told to undress, later that I night the head nurse (ICU) Did an inventory of my personal belongings, and discovered that $60.00 was taken from my wallet. I was advised to call security. They were rude and obnoxious and never addressed my request for help..

My father recently passed away at this hospital. The ICU staff (especially Staci) and the cardiac staff (specifically Myrna) were so kind to my father and my family. I felt as if they joined us as a member of our family for the time we were there, were especially compassionate and kind when delivering difficult news, and comforted my mother by assuring her her decisions were the correct decisions, made with love, and made my father comfortable and the environment very peaceful. We felt as if we were all a team.I would very much like to thank Staci and Myrna.

As a recent resident of Delray Beach, the option of being rushed to a previously frequented hospital was dashed by the necessity of critical thinking. DMC opened their hearts and minds in stabilizing my pain and proceeding with the utmost testing, evaluation and surgical needs. Doctors Chaplin and DAlessio and their surgical residents, Dr. Mo and Dr. Zang held my hand and heart for 23 days! The 24 hour non stop attention of the highly competent nurses made my stay a fight back to health!Major thanks to the Mariha, Jillisa and Sara (Rm 125) & the two Jennifers, Janell ,Kameo, Elsa, Maggie (Rm4424) along with all the unselfish nurses who had a hand in my recovery....I love you all!

Terrible experience with my father. He couldn’t feed himself but NEVER had any support with meals or liquids except when we were there. Never saw a doctor over his entire 4 days. No one responded to his calls for help when he couldn’t suction himself. Saw a number of instances of apathy and lack of caring. Honestly disgusted. Can’t wait to get him out of here.

After hearing what a family member is going though, I checked the reviews to see that the neglect, lack of compassion & communication is common practice here. Nurses not responding to call buttons then having an attitude when they finally check on the patient almost an hour later is truly horrible & unacceptable. Patient advocates are difficult to reach making family who cannot be with their loved one feel helpless. This place should be investigated.

My grandmother is currently there. She is in the intensive care unit for Covid. She was covid asymptomatic for 16 days. However, she was admitted there for a rectal bleeding. All of the sudden yesterday she is unresponsive with neumonia. There is NO EXPLANATION to what happened from Thursday until yesterday! The nurses tell you a different story every time. What happened? She was supposed to get a colonoscopy, and the nurse told me she never got it because she is covid positive and they can not sterilize well the equipment after being used. It is a Hospital! However, the nurse on Thursday told us that the procedure was done. We never received a call from the Doctors while her health was declining .Nobody even care to call to update us because every-time we call the unit, they are too busy. I can understand it is the intensive care unit. However, it is a loved one. There is something called compassion. It would have been a nice gesture to talk to my grandmother before she went into coma estate! But no, you ignore and the only call we get is now when she can’t open her eyes anymore. The communication between the doctors and the family members is the worse. Patients are just A NUMBER MORE. Very disappointed with the way this case has been handled . If you take your loved one to this hospital, expect no communication from the Doctors. How come an asymptomatic patient is in a coma estate after 16 days? Nothing makes sense! Where were the controls to make sure her covid did not lapse to this point? WHERE? No empathy, just pure business.

Stayed there for 8 days with a drainage tube in my left side. The staff was attentive, even with them being so busy with other patients. If I were to complain about anything it was the beds. They should be more comfortable especially on the buttocks.

Not the place to go if you are sick with Covid!!!! $7,000 medical bill for them to have me drink tons of water for a urine sample then when I needed to go and rang the nurse bell multiple times had an embarrassing accident. While I was coughing and puking trying to clean up my mess the nurse walked in kind of laughed and said oh thats why your buzzer for your room kept going off TERRIBLE. Making people who are already sick feel even worse. Go to Boca Regional or Bethesda if you need help.

My husband came in through the emergency room where they were wonderful. He fell and they thought he fractured his hip. It was determined this was not the case a doctor never came to the room to see where the pain was coming from. The PT came in to evaluate him and after they left he had excruciating pain in his shoulder. Again a doctor no where to be found. If this is a trauma hospital where are the doctors . Very sad!
