Never coming back here again. Total waste of time and money. I was a first time client. The SAME DAY after my dip service, my thumb’s dip powder began to chip away. You could also see my natural nails THROUGH the dip powder. I called to let them know not even 24 hours after I had the service done that I was not happy with the quality of work He said it’s because I “chose a lighter color” well, I have had dipped nails done on a regular basis for the last three years and usually in the lighter/neutral tones. The tips/natural nails have NEVER been visible through the dip powder. They typically use a white base powder and then three coats of the powder color. For this visit, he did not use a white dip powder base first, he only dipped my nails TWO times and I only saw him use two types of “nail polish” when the dip service typically has four bottles/steps you have to do. To top it off, when I came back to have them “fixed” they only “fixed” the two thumbs that had a crack and the other that started to chip away. When I asked “so what’s going to happen to the other nails when they crack because they’re so thin, too?” Literally ignored my question, didn’t address the concerns and I walked out with janky nails AGAIN. I literally went straight to Ulta and bought nail polish to cover it up. I don’t like having to come back in general because to me time is important, so the fact I had to waste even more of my time going back there for my time be FURTHER wasted because they didn’t really fix the problem, which was the THINLY DONE DIPPED NAILS. Waste of money and time. It looks like I will be going back to Holly Nails in Algonquin, even though it’s a further drive, at least they have quality, consistent, service.

My first time with Julies nails. Kevin did a wonderful and beautiful mani and Myle did without a doubt the best and most relaxing Pedi Ive ever had. Highly recommend.

It’s not even one week and you can see gap between nail polish and cuticles. This guy didn’t clean cuticles properly. He works at front desk so he was doing my nails, picking up phone and welcoming customer at the same time. He was doing my nails in rush and when I asked him to clean cuticles, he said this is how it looks. It’s not like I did my nails first time.

FINALLY found my new nail place!!! Loved the paraffin and hot stone pedicure. I felt pampered and that my specific requests were heard. The custom nail art was adorable and the shape of my fingernails is exactly what I asked for !😍🥰

Very nice staff there, they do a great job on nails, one of the techs forgot top coat on my no chip so I had to buy some myself and do it at home. Otherwise great pedicure!

Sadly I had the worst nail salon experience I’ve ever had. Had 2pm appointment for 4 people. They took 3 right away and then at 2:25 I was still being told “few more minutes.” Then owner started shouting at me when I inquired how much longer and said very rudely I just need to “wait like how doctors offices make people wait.” By the time they would’ve been ready for me 2 of the others in my group were already done and the 3rd was finishing up. But after the way the owner spoke to me, combined with being way after my appointment time, I opted to not have my nails done. I was extremely uncomfortable at that point. Those in my group that did have their nails done said the technician was clearly rushing,while being very rough. Such an awful experience. Not sure how he thinks it’s ok to talk to people like that. I, as well as the others in the group, will never go back there again. Really wishing I read these reviews before I went. Sounds like I was not the first one he shouted at and I suspect I won’t be the last.

Took my two daughters age 9 and 10 and myself to get manicures. First off the receptionist was rude as soon as we walked in the door. Second the nail techs come and grab you by the hand. Which I didnt know how to react but every place is different so that wasnt so bad but they split us all up so we couldnt talk without yelling across the room. Third, my tech was very friendly and i enjoyed his conversation but my nails werent done nicely, I pointed out the parts I didnt like and he couldnt see them very well and I wonder if he sanitized the nail clippers under his desk ... anyways he attempted to fix one nail and it did look better but I had to leave.I liked my tech but just wasnt completely satisfied.

Did a great job and with covid they were set up very well to prevent spread.

I have been going to this salon as long as it has been open, and have never veered off to any other salon. Suddenly over a period of approximately two years service and oversight has changed dramatically. Julie herself disappeared, all the talented nail techs have left and the remaining staff, with the exception of three techs that are the most tenured of the group, are uncaring, rude, and do not even seem to want to be there. I went in a week ago and got my usual no-chip, the edges began chipping within a 72 hour time period. This was never the case before, and has happened the past two times I have went. Unfortunately now looking for another salon despite my loyalty in the past. Sad.

I had scheduled three appts a week in advance and told them for what services for each. When I got there, they took the first in my group. When they got to me (last), said that the only person that could do it was already working on the first in my group and that I couldn’t get it done. Then the owner proceeded to yell at me because I wasn’t going to wait and I questioned why wasn’t the only person that could do pink/whites available if they knew I was coming in for that service ahead of time. Bottom line, owner was rude and I don’t appreciate being yelled at by anyone, especially when I didn’t do anything wrong. I’ll use someone else in town, thanks!

Got a no chip manicure. Tools were def not sanitized, she pulled them from under her table. The lady cut my cuticles waaay too short. My skin was broken. She went so fast, I had the clear polish all around my nails. The top coat looked like a 5 year old did it. My nails started peeling literally 3 days later. She never cleaned up the polish on the bottom of my nails.Prices are nice, but really bad service

I took my friends daughter there to get her nails done from Christmas she is very happy the man that did her nails was very friendly I was quite surprised she was very patient

HORRIBLE service and customer service. They messed up my nails and will not give me my money back. I called to speak with them and the guy on the phone Kevin would not stop yelling at me! I politely asked for my money back because my nails are ruined and I can’t get in there to have them fixed. He kept yelling at me...yes yelling at me..wouldn’t let me speak and refused to give me my money back. Said I already enjoyed my nails. How did I enjoy them when the dip that they did isn’t right. It started chipping off and the top coat is bubbling and falling off. All of my nails are now broke. I get the dip because that is the only thing that works for my nails. It’s not my fault I had to work and couldn’t get in to have them fixed. On top of that they were closed for Memorial Day. I will never return to this nail salon and suggest others find somewhere else to get their nails done.

Nice people , front desk check- in was good if youre a regular but not helpful if you are new. Have only gone once so may not be the case. Only a first impression. My nails were a fill only and they did go above and beyond to make sure they came out looking great considering I took to long to get a fill done.

Julies gets a bad rap from Google reviewers. My experiences here have been great, save my first visit. Why I chose to go back after a crappy no chip is beyond me, but Im glad I did. I see a different technician now. He is thorough and does a very good manicure. My $30 no chip routinely last upwards of 3 weeks. Ive been seeing my guy for a year and a half now. I get in same day every time I call. Never have to wait more that a few minutes for him to finish up his previous client. I do a pedicure about every third visit. Plus they are open on Sundays, which is when I typically have time to go. I cant speak to the work quality of the other technicians, but go see Sam and you will have a different experience, I promise.

My only salon Ill use. Fantastic service! Andrea is the best for beautiful designs. They have a very comfortable salon. Offer beverages. I wont go anywhere else. Im here enough already! 💜

I took my 85 year old mother here and they were Fantastic! Took the time and care needed on her pedicure! They were respectful of her needs and wonderfully Personable! We are going again today and my mother is excited to be all dolled up!

Horrible service. They do not have any customer service skills as well they do not do procedures the correct way which makes me question is they’re truly licensed. They yelled at me and passed me off to 3 different techs before I decided to leave. Go somewhere else. I highly recommend T-nails in Lake In The Hills. They actually care about their clients and do things the correct way. I’ll never go to Julie’s again.

My best friend found the place and we thought we would try it so we made a reservation for the next day(today). I read the reviews today and saw they werent good but I thought maybe itll be okay. It was a lot more expensive then originally and they asked me about 10 to 15 (Im not different times for an up-sale item (flower, design, gel). I ended up spending 2 hours here because they over booked so they didnt have enough staff and they didnt listen to what I asked for and had to redo it. I asked for a pedicure and French acrylic nails and I got the pedicure (tropical pedicure) wasnt bad but my friend and I got the same thing and we did not receive the same pedicure. Next he took me to do my fingernails and he didnt listen to what I asked so he just painted my fingernails, not acrylics. He rushed through all of it and sent me to dry my nails and a lady checked on me and we told her thats not what asked for so he redid it but he rushed through it again and all my nails are uneven and not the shape that I wanted them to be. I did not enjoy my experience here at all. They have horrible customer service. They are not the cleanest place either my friend said. Needless to say, we both had a very bad experience.Even my grandfather said he doesnt know what they were doing when we later explained our experience to him (I guess he goes very often).

Julies Nails is a great nail place. They have several nail technicians that are very good at what they do. They prep the nails well. A no chip manicure there, using OPI, generally lasts me 3 weeks.

Great service, kind people, lovely nails and clean facility! This place was decently priced and available for walk ins. Highly recommended!

I went into this nail salon today for the first time and asked my nail artist if she could do sunflowers on my thumbs after showing her a photo she let me know she could do it , she messed up the design horribly 4 times then I gave up and had her just do the nail yellow and she didn’t even put a white base on before she did the yellow on my nails, messed up my shape and left it slightly see through with bumps. This all around in all my years getting my nails done was my worst experience at a salon. If I could give 0 stars I would !

Do not go to this place. People not professional and rude. Like to check or they have certificates for work.

I liked going to this location. Always clean, always punctual, and always friendly. Id prefer if there was some kind of loyalty club, the only reason I stopped visiting was because I ran out of fun money. Ill be back someday!

Attn: Julies management, you need to read your Yelp and Google reviews. Very disappointing, unsatisfactory service. Julies has always been a bit of a manicure warehouse - fast and cheap, but decent. Todays manicure ranks as one of my all-time worst. Nail tech was sloppy and, judging by his brush strokes, a novice or in need of eyeglasses. I had to point out unevenly filed nails and streaks and globs of polish throughout my service. To top things off, my manicure ended with a dripping mess of alcohol (sprayed liberally over my hands) and oily lotion carelessly spread over my hands and wrists. I didnt have the energy or motivation to say anything by the end. Just wanted to get out - even with harded topcoat smeared on my finger tips and running off my nail beds. I can give myself a significantly better manicure at home. Will not return to Julies.

I have been going to Julies for a few years and have always had a great experience. Last few times I have been there I felt like the technicians have rushed, done things improperly, and did not ask me feedback on what I wanted. I have had them use an e-file which ruined the quality of my nails, and my recent visit, the girl who did my pedicure did the bare minimum and did not ask me what pedicure I wanted, as I usually get the tropical. I also got a no chip, the tech that did my no chip made my nails totally uneven and did not ask me how I wanted them shaped even though they where already square, she made them round and completely uneven. She used a cuticle nipper on my nails and took off way more skin that needed to the point where I am bleeding on nearly every finger. She used the cuticle nipper to also cut off portions of my nails after they had already been shaped. She also pulled her tools out of a box that did not look like they had been properly cleaned. Very disappointed in the service lately and will not be returning.

They waste your time. No communication when you walk-in without an appointment. The past 3 or 4 times I have been there I have waited 45min to an hour and 15 min before anyone starts my pedi, even when I walk in right when they open. They dont staff for the crowds they get. I understand they are busy and you might have to wait, but it would be helpful if they told you how long you can expect to wait before sitting down. Ill be finding a new nail salon.

I just moved to the area and was looking for a new salon to do my acrylic fills. After going to a different salon in crystal lake and having a bad experience my next try at a new salon was here (Julies Nails) I did not have an apt I walked in, was greeted right away, she helped me pick out a color I was looking for, and sat me down right away. Tracy took her time, corrected the bad work from the previous salon, and was nice to talk to during my service. My nails came out beautiful and I think I found my new go to salon. Thank you!!

Work gave us a gift to go here and get manis/pedis done. We let them know weeks in advance that 10+ of us would be coming together. It was after work and later for them. Everything initially seemed to be fine but at the end it all changed. They rushed to finish which left us with horrible results then they proceeded to charge way more then they said it would cost. We all had gift cards since they were gifts to us for what we got yet we all had to pay way more then it should have been. Plus they said they forgot to charge someone else in our group for something and she had already left and tried to get us to pay the difference. They don’t care about the quality of the job they do and seem to try and make people pay for and make up a reason why it all of a sudden costed more. Most all of our nails chipped that night or days later. Don’t waste your time or money here, have been to better salons. Very disappointed.

I have been going to Julies Nails for many years and am very pleased with great customer service, treatments and friendly staff. My nails always look fabulous and I love their pedicures and brow waxing too!

I have tried three times now to give this place a chance and like baseball...3 strikes its out. I recently went in for a no chip and it started off bad. I wasnt greeted by the guy at the front desk who was too busy texting. Then the lady doing my nails didnt say one word to me the entire time!!! I felt so uncomfortable I wanted to get up and leave in the middle of it! Then as if it wasnt bad enough Five days....yes five days and 6 of my nails were chipped if not completely off and broken. My long nails that I worked a very long time for (nail biter for 10 years) were now ruined. I called to give them a chance to fix it since they guarantee the no chip for 2 weeks. Again I received the same girl who did not talk to me. And then filed the broken and chipped nails to a completely different shape then the rest of my nails!Icing on the cake was the clear nail polish she got all over my thumb and picked off and ended up scratching my finger and peeling off skin.Im left with nails of very different lengths, chunks of skin missing and 3 hours of life I will never get back!!Long story short...save your money and go just about any where else

It was my first time going to this nail salon, I just moved to the area and didnt know where else to go for a full set of acrylic nails. The manicurist talked me into to gel polish so it would last longer but it ended up just being really thick and uncomfortable. Secondly, he never asked me what shape I wanted my nails, he just gave me square. When I asked him to round them out for a more natural shape he just rounded the sharp corners still giving me a square. The worst part of the whole experience was that I left there with my cuticles bleeding, he was not gentle at all with the drill bit and buffing and 4 of my cuticles are bruised and bleeding. Will not be going back and I am sorry I even tipped him.

Appointments made for myself & mother for 4pm. Arrived early, seated at footbaths on time. Sat & waited for about a half-hour before pedicures began.Afterwards, mother was taken to begin her no-chip, full set. I waited. And waited. Other customers were taken. Finally I asked if they always made appointments without enough employees available to fulfill them. Only then was I immediately seated & my manicure begin. To top it all off, they had to run my card TWICE because they undercharged me. After all the incompetence, they should have charged me LESS.They only get 2 stars because the facilities are impeccable, the work performed was well done, and they were unfailingly polite. However, my first visit there is also my last.

I got my nails done Friday, did the dip powder....they were stunning but the day off the clear coat started chipping and they have continued since....I’ve been getting dip powder for 2 years and never have they used a gel top coat, they’ve always used the gloss coat that is made for dip powder.

Sloppy fast job....could have done better myself at home. Definitely do not recommend. Waste of money. Will not be back.

Inexperienced staff - from receptionist to nail techs to owner. Quality of work is shabby, they spend too much time trying to talk you into upgrades on their services. When removing my gel nails, they let my nails soak too long in acetone and damaged my own nails terribly. They were mad because I insisted on giving up on my gel nails and wouldnt be in for a weekly fill. I will never give them my business again.

Im not sure I will be returning here. The atmosphere is amazing which is a plus though. The young gentleman cut me and caused me to bleed twice. He was very apologetic. It could happen once, but twice? A bit careless. Jenny did my waxing. She touched my toes and told me the polish is dry. When I got to the front thankfully I touched my toes to make sure before I put on my shoes. It wasnt. The polish smeared on my toe, finger, and fingernail. It seems she was just in a hurry to go home since it was 8, closing time I think instead of providing quality. If I had put my shoes on my nails would have been ruined. The young gentleman who did my nails rushed over, asked what happened, and I told him. He fixed it all. Then he too told me they are now dry. He obviously knew this isnt the case. Same thing I think he too wanted to go home instead of providing quality.

Went out of my way to make an appointment and was taken almost 45 minutes after my appointment time. The service I received was below standard as was the sanitation. When asked to speak with the owner nothing was accomplished. I definitely will not be returning and I would not recommend going here at all.

This unfortunately was a bad experience. 5 of my 10 nails were messed up an hour later and I was very careful and 3 hours later they were still not dry! Also, I took my nine year old granddaughter for her first manicure and as her nails were drying in the dryer she picked them up to pull them out and burned her hand on the light bulb and the staff didn’t even care or apologize!! We will never return!!

My daughter and I went on a fri evening at 6 waited 40 to get in a pedicure chair then left us on the chair did not start us til 45 min later and was hoping for a good pedicure but nope of was horrible polish all over the cuticle and cut the corner of my toe which is a no chip so no know it will peel off in a few day then my daughter wanted a polish change on her hands waited another 20 min and charged is 35 and ot looks like a kindergartener paints them .. Needless to say they have really gone down hill!

Ive been a customer of Julies Nails for over 15 years - consistently every two weeks and have always gotten exceptional work done on my nails and pedicures. The staff is accommodating, the shop is beautiful and very well appointed. Im always able to pick something new and cutting edge – when it comes to designs and creative options . For various reasons – such as being out of town or lack of time, I might have had to go somewhere else due to an emergency.The only thing I gain from this experience is realizing how excellent the work done atJulies NAils is. Lastly, the owner of Julies NAils (Julie) is one of the hardest working most gracious and poised professional business woman Ive ever met. I highly recommend.

So Ive gone here for a very long time which is why this hurts me so much to say. The last TWO times Ive been there it has been HORRIBLE!!!!! One time the tech whom Ive had Forever cut my nails way too short they fixed and find whatever.... but this last time!!!!! I got my nails done and I had an appointment... pink fill about 15 minutes into the appointment (yes scheduled appointment) they told my tech she had another appt and she proceeded to mess up royally!!! She forgot any of the antifungle or adhesive options, she cut me like 5 times and then she did a horrible job with my nails.... they began lifting less then 24 hours later and now one is completely falling off 4 DAYS LATER!!!! Seriously the worst job IVe seen in 20 years... never going there again

Worst nail salon ever! I typically go to Mario Tricoci in Crystal Lake but decided to try this place because they do the “dip,” while Mario Tricoci does not do that. Anyway, when I got to Julie’s, I felt like it was a hole in the wall & it looked unsanitary but against my better judgement I stayed. The tech drilled off most of my nail cuticles (a huge no no! Your nails will not grow properly & becomes weak without the cuticles) & when I complained, not only did Julie (the owner) have a bad disposition but she carried on a conversation about me with the client that she was working on - really!? She also kept telling me that my cuticles had not been shaven down even though it was clear that my cuticles were not the same. Julie was rude and arrogant! The client that she was working on then became upset and started questioning me, asking if I had ever had my nails done before, as though I knew nothing about nails & what is supposed to be done. It’s now six hours after they have removed the dip from my nails & my cuticles hurt! I will be going to the doctor tomorrow for her to further investigate & assess the damage done. I caution everyone, do not waste your money & the health of your nails to this place. I will be going back toMario Tricoci & that’s where I will stay for all of my nail needs. I wish I could give this place less than 1 star

I never ever write a bad review but my nails (acrylic) were stuck to my skin, uneven all around and just overall terrible customer service. Please don’t spent $$ here.

They are amazing, went there last night and I had Sam he was amazing I got a fill and replace for a nail and got a small design on both ring fingers with just plain white nails he did amazing would go there again and definitely would request Sam!

I love Julies Nails. The girls are great and I always get great service. Their mani pedis are great and relaxing . You stop in anytime without an appointment and theres not a problem accommodating me in any spa detail i qould like i.e. brows, nails, pedi....or all! Great for bridal, birthday parties or just an afternoon spa day with the girls.

I got a mani pedi from Sam today and was pretty disappointed. My pedi was over in about 20 minutes. No leg massage with lotion and I still had chunks of skin/blisters on my feet once done. I didnt receive a hot towel either. I had to ask him to fix that. He said its not healthy to take the blisters off. Ok, but, he couldve asked me if I want them removed or left on. There was about 5 words spoken to me during the pedi. I understand there may be a bit of a language barrier, but, if youre working with the public, wouldnt you think he could of attempted to talk a little. The 5 words he did speak to me, his English sounded pretty good, so, Im not sure if there even was a language barrier.My no chip mani was another unsatisfactory experience. Was done in about 25 minutes. I received very little cuticle trimming (I had to do my own trimming once home). There was no hand massage at all. He barely even put lotion on my hands. He was given the polish I wanted along with the glitter polish I wanted on top of it and after he completed the regular polish, he put the top coat of polish on and I had to remind him that the glitter polish needed to go on as well. He acted like it was an inconvenience to him and asked You sure you want.Very sad experience. My Mother loves Julies and gets her nails done by Julie monthly. I wish I had received an experience that was like that.

I decided to leave a review which I don’t usually do. I just moved to crystal lake I went to this location only because I tried to go to LT nails down the street twice but every time I went they were rude. Anyway I was there for 2 hours I wasn’t too happy about, I got a ped and a gel set. Everyone else was asked which ped they want and when the guy came to me he assumed I wanted the cheapest ones which I actually didn’t. The “no chip” didn’t last long I had to go within a few days to get a nail repolish which they did for free but within a week all my other nails looked horrible. My no chip nails normally last me about 3 weeks. So I’m not too happy with their service. I wish I could figure out how to take a picture and post it on here.

My sister and I made an appointment for a mani/pedi, we waited 45 minutes with our feet in lukewarm water before a technician started on us. The front desk person then came over halfway through to inform the tech that her next appointment was there. As I had also made an appointment I was furious that the tech was being rushed to finish me when I had waited 45 minutes. On top of that my polish chipped the next day. I highly recommend going anywhere else.

Staff was so wrapped up in talking and as I was getting my pedicure I felt like I was a hindrance to them. The lady seemed pretty unhappy throughout the whole pedicure and I couldnt wait to get out of there since I felt awkward. Ive gaven them numerous chances but this will be the last.

Very poor service and time management was nonexistent. If you dont make an appointment with a specific technician it is equivalent to being a walk-in and you will have to wait. Also even if you make an appointment people who walk on after you will be seen to before you are.

Ive been here three times for services. Each time, my gel manicure has chipped within 5 days. I wanted to give it one more try because its so close to my house. Never again!

I had gone to for the first time to have my acrylics removed. The salon is nice looking, clean and the staff was pleasant enough. I was however very surprised and uncomfortable throughout my appointment because they removed my acrylics by prying them off with a nail tip. This would be the second time in years and years that I have gotten acrylics done, so Im not sure of much, but I dont think that is the proper way to remove them. When there were bits of acrylic still on my nail, he used a cuticle snip to pick and pry it off. A few times I had to pull away because it became, not painful, but very uncomfortable. Once he was finished, my nails looked horrible because the top surface of the nail was pulled off (you could literally see a small dip from healthy outgrowth, to where the acrylic was pulled off). Also, I had asked to keep the length of my nails because they had grown so well. But since he was popping off the acrylic ontop, it broke off pieces of my nails, so I lost a lot of length. After all of that, he didnt ask me, but proceeded what I guess was a manicure (if it was what they consider a mani, then they need some work). It was rushed and rough. After being asked by 3 different people if I wanted no-chip (which I kept saying no thank you to), I had my polish sloppily applied. When I went to pay, I was upcharged $7 for some reason (I assume for the mani I wasnt asked if I wanted), and a sign is on the counter saying payment MUST be made for all services rendered. I didnt argue bc I didnt feel I would get anywhere. I wont be returning because of the shotty job that was done. Go visit an actual Salon and pay the little bit of extra money for your nails to be treated properly.

Got a full set of acrylics, 3 nails broke within an hour of leaving. I pointed out at the table that one nail was cracked and the guy just covered it with nail polish. Will not be going back.
