Excellent gym to work out at, with all the usual equipment one would expect at a y. There is a small free parking lot right next to the gym, and you can also park for free at the “fire hydrant lot”. The staff is super friendly. For the past year they haven’t been supplying towels. There is a weight room, aerobic/machine area, an upstairs CrossFit/functional training room, aerobics room, and a yoga studio.

Always clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only downside is they no longer have a pool. Great location and easy access to downtown.

Still no towel service but the pay has not changed. They have social media but it doesnt encourage people to join the gym

I use to be a member or the downtown Columbia building untill they moved to their new location. The new location has no swimming pool, no indoor track, no basketball court and a bunch of naked old men in the sauna. Whats the point of paying for a fully price membership and not have the pool basketball court or indoor track like the rest of the YMCA gyms at the other locations ? I wasent happy at all after they move to the new location I felt riped off so I cancel my member ship

Great gym, clean facility and nice equipment.

It’s basically the only choice downtown. They have a semi new facility and The former facilities were way bigger. People are friendly and you get exercise with a number of local regulars.

Great place to work out. Its not overcrowded so I have access to all of the equipment.

Great gym! They offer a great variety of classes and the machines are very nice/well kept. They have great amenities: towels (in locker room for showering and at the desk to wipe away sweat,the facilities are cleaner than most gyms, and the coffee is decent. Very friendly/helpful staff. Location is great if you’re heading through the area and want to workout before work. My only qualm is that they would never change the filters in the water fountains and every once in a while they would run out of towels

Im pretty impressed with this YMCA. They get a lot into the space they have. The staff is very friendly and the equipment is well maintained. The organization as a whole is having a really solid impact in the city. Highly recommend.

Nice staff and facility

This YMCA location is rather cool. They really cram a lot of stuff into a smallish area. There is enough crammed in here to serve your every need. There are also historic displays sprawled out through the place with local historic photos and items. The staff here was friendly and accommodating. No complaints about this YMCA.

Friendly staff, modern design, and clean facilities at the NEW downtown YMCA! There are a variety of choices for fitness classes. Plenty of equipment to choose from including Peloton bikes! The functional training room is state of the art! The yoga room is neat and well organized with all the equipment needed for class. The locker rooms are the nicest Ive been in. They have steam rooms and saunas in addition to a comfortable changing area. Restrooms/showers are cleaned regularly throughout the day and they have towel service which is an added bonus. This is the best YMCA in the Columbia area!

Crispy clean. The building is brand new. The equipment is brand new. Peloton bikes are great. Front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. Wellness staff is knowledgeable. You dont need to worry about bringing a lock for lockers (nice). Free daily parking in two lots (dope). First visit free (nice).

The Downtown YMCA is a great place to experience a workout, connection, and meet great folks. Its a new facility with excellent equipment offerings, great group ex classes, and very affordable rates. The locker rooms are super nice and convenient parking makes it easy to get to downtown. I would recommend this gym to anyone!

Love this gym and the classes they have to offer. I am a big fan of the peloton and I am glad that they have that in offer (it takes time for things to get fixed when they are broken though).

The new facility is nice. The equipment is updated and group workout rooms are pretty spacious. I like that lockers have built in locks.The only con is that it is not as family friendly as the others in the other Ys in the area.It doesnt have a pool nor child care.

New equipment. Pelaton bikes with subscription. Amazing locker room. Parking sucks at peak times, but that’s to be expected when dealing with downtown locations.

The building is old and a bit run down, most equipment is nice and new although the free weights area has old equipment. I joined to mainly play squash and am a bit disappointed by the condition of the court but it is obviously rarely used so I am just glad to have a court because Columbia only has one or two other squash courts. Friendly staff.

I stopped in for a workout while in town for a conference. The staff was super accommodating and very welcoming. The facility itself isnt huge, but it has all the necessary, modern equipment to get a great workout. They have Peloton bikes which is pretty awesome and very unexpected. The locker room is nice with self service lockers, a sauna and a steam room. Also, its becoming more and more rare to find YMCAs that still offer complimentary towel service which is fantastic. Overall, I would highly recommend this facility to anyone living in or visiting Columbia and looking for a workout.

Love working out at the downtown branch - fitness classes and instructors are great and the facility has very modern equipment.

Just need a pool and more convenience space its a joy to be at this Ymca

This is not a knock to the staff or the existing facility (which is nice), I just wish this YMCA was a lot more than it is. There is a lot left to be desired with this facility compared to other YMCAs.

Clean and respectful

This YMCA has very new equipment and weights, all of which seem to maintained very well. All of their cardio equipment has a personal tv to watch while working out. Near the lifting equipment there are multiple flat screen tvs which you can tune your portable radio into to hear the different channels. The only reason I didnt give this place 5 stars is that theyre locker room is pretty dingy and the gym is split up over 6 small floors. You need a map the first few times in there or youll get lost. Unlike Daniel, I found the staff fairly helpful and friendly (nothing over the top though).

I registered 2 children in spring soccer and wish I had not. I had to pay in advance before knowing practise details, and they deliberately put the no-refund date FOUR weeks before the coaches even met to form teams and set schedules. I had to transfer to NorthEast when downtown could not accomodate, and then they changed one of our practise times without telling us. I showed up with my 7-yr-old to the first practise that was over. It may work for those who have only one child, a super flexible schedule, and nothing else to do but spend money on maybes, but I wouldnt recommend the organization as they are NOT organized. I had to beg for the registration money back, and they made it seem like they were doing me a favor by refunding the money for services they never provided. We wont bother with YMCA recreational sports again.
