I signed up in June for a month to month membership for myself and my 9 year old to be able to go swimming over the summerOn June 12 I signed a waiver and paid 65$ to swim for 1 month. On July 12, I paid 65$ for the next monthOn July 14 My other son came. I wanted to add him to my family paid an additional 20$ , and I was given a tablet showing a signature page and advised my new pay date will be the 14th of each monthTablet did NOT show contract - I was told it would be emailed to meOn August 14 my bank declined the auto pay draft for 85$.I did not sign up for autopay because I use a prepaid cardAugust 17 - I call to cancel. The clerk advised me I was in a contract and could not cancel. SHE rudely said I will be put in collections if I dont pay. I told her1- I did not and WOULD never agree to sign a contract SIMPLY because I cant afford it &2- Made clear that my membership was specifically for the outdoor pool services only3- I was told by front desk this is NOT a binding contract & I can cancel when I want4- I never received said contract ! the signature I gave on July 14 was on an ipad with no info whatsoever! I thought I was simply adding a family member!!August- received contract in email spam folderSept 10- advised Ryan I will come to the facility to discussSept 20- send email to Ryan advising I have covid & unable to come in to pay. *No offer of freezing membership fees*.October 6: Ryan calls - he says he can STILL not cancel account & I owe over 300$.The only way I can cancel is if I get a Dr note explaining a deadly sickness or move 60 miles away- but will still be responsible for billingEvery time I speak with MULETOWN rec there are no resolutions offered, only that I owe the money, I will continue to owe MORE money - and I will be put in collections.Long story short- I was mislead and trapped into a 1 year contract that I am unable to CANCEL and CAN NOT AFFORD to pay for,It is a shame there is no compassion - especially coming from a WORLDWIDE association founded on CHRISTIANITY.Last i will say- the swim instructors are nice. I hope they arent duped like the patrons!!!!

Im new to the Town of Columbia, and very thankful to have read the reviews. My husband and I are looking for indoor pools that offer aqua aerobics. We would have been very angry to have sighed up and not been told the indoor pool was closing on April 30th. THANKS FOR THE HEADS-UP!

I think its a great facility for the money especially new year deal January February March for $20 month then $40 month thereafter. Lots of free weights and machines, inside pool preparing to open, saunas available but experts say dont do saunas right now (covid). Go get a tour like I did see for yourself......

I’m a member, always have since it was owned by the YMCA. Sorry but lately the place is not kept as clean as before. Shower rooms are messy, showers and liners dirty. I even donated some shower liners and have not been change. Pools are clean but need some touch ups. The hot tub has not been working for over 3 weeks. Now I heard the facility will be closing the end of March for good. We, me included need heated pool in town to be able to keep doing some sort of therapy for our health. We need someone else that cares for the town of Columbia and it’s people to get it and maintain it correctly.Thank you

We recently joined and during the tour we talked about how much we liked the indoor pool and thats why we decided to join. My daughter loves to swim. The person who did the tour said nothing about the pool closing.I feel that was misleading and dishonest .And they will not let you out of the contract.

This place is dirty, and has roaches, don’t get a membership here. The inside pool is closed 24/7 and the men haft to use the ladies sauna because the men’s sauna has been closed for months now and they don’t plan on fixing it.

Ja
Review №26

During the first six months of membership, it was just barely worth it. After that, however, it became DEFINITELY worth it. The difference? We went more! Took advantage of classes. Invited friends to join, whom we knew would enjoy it and use it, so that we now like to go meet them there, which encourages us to go more. Were a family of ten now, so $8/mo/person is a totally amazing deal. The facility is top grade compared to what you might expect in Columbia. The staff are solidly professional and genuinely personable. We havent encountered any rude clients. Its just been a great blessing to us.

After paying the day rate a few times for our daughter to play in the pool, we joined Muletown Rec with the family membership. There’s a great balance between plenty of classes to get into and non-crowded equipment times to do your own thing. I love going into The Jungle and getting my own workout of the day on the weekends!

No heated pool as advertised. The prices are very high not to have it heated. Can not swim in something too cold like that. It is a shame they advertise heated and it not be. Several senior citizens that use the facility no longer can due to the temperature of the water. Was told the heater has been broken. It has been several weeks now. Not happy

Great place for pool therapy if you can get in the pool without an unscheduled class taking place.. Very disappointing that they allow classes to take over the pool when they are not scheduled for that day. Needs better time management or control over the one lady believing she has special rules that only apply to her and her little class of 4 ladies

Good facility, but very rude. They have been rude to me and my friends many times. They even kicked me and my friends out of the building five minutes after they closed, while it was raining, and we said our rides were almost there but she still kicked me and my friends out in the rain. This is not the first time something like this has happened and it’s just very disrespectful to your members. I would say a membership is not worth it because the price is too high along with them being rude.

If I could give no stars, I would. The indoor pool heater was broken. I was not using the pool (and paid) because I was watching our baby and my husband was helping my 3 year old daughter practice swimming (we were going to alternate who was swimming with her). The pool was so cold, she couldnt even focus on putting her head under the water, kicking, swimming or floating. Her lips were blue and she was shivering. We didn’t know until we walked into indoor pool and there was a sign “heater still broke”. The sign should have been posted when entering the facility. That way, visitors can chose “is this worth it?” We would not have paid $30 for 30 minutes. Absolutely no excuse for a broken heater with prices that high.

MY NAME IS BARBARA WILSON IM A SENIOR WITH ARTHRITIS AND SPINAL STENOSIS . I WAS A MEMBER OF THE YMCA FROM 2011 UNTIL IT CLOSED AS WELLNESS ON APRIL 15 2015 !. THERE WAS NEVER A PROBLEM WITH THE HEATER . THEN MULETOWN BEGAN I JOINED 2015 THEN THE HEATER PROBLEMS BEGAN NOT TO LONG AFTER . THEN ACTULLY IN 2017 THROUGH 2018 NO HEATED POOL FOR WEEKS AT A TIME . I WAS A MEMBER AND EVEN THOUGH NOT ABLE TO USE ANY PART OF THE FACILITY BUT THE POOL I WAS STILL PAYING MY DUES TIL THE LATTER PART OF 2018 WHEN I CANCELED . THEN BECAUSE IT IS THE ONLY PLACE AROUND WHERE I CAN DO MY THERPY EXCERCISES I DECIDED TO GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY ! I BEGAN MY MEMBERSHIP AGAIN IN MARCH 2019. IVE BEEN UNABLE TO USE THE THERPY POOL SINCE THE HEATER HAS BLOWN THIS TIME. THEY TOLD ME THEY WHERE SO SORRY THAT THEY WOULD NOT CHARGE MY BANK ACCOUNT FOR ONE MONTH . THATS NOT GOOD ENOUGH ! I CANT CONTINUE PAYING LIKE LAST TIME AND GET NOTHING FOR MY MONEY. BEFORE I PAYED $40 A MONTH NOW WITH MY SENOIR DISCOUNT ITS $36 . BUT WHY GET A DISCOUNT IF I CANT USE THE POOL! THE LAST TIME I TRIED IT FELT LIKE ICE WATER I ONLY GOT MY FEET WET ! IF I HAD STAYED ID BEEN UNABLE TO WALK FOR A MONTH ! THERE WAS NO SIGNS STATING THE HEATER WAS OUT NO WARNINGS OR I WOULD HAVE STAYED AT HOME, SO I WILL NOT BE A MEMBER AGAIN ! I REALLY DESERVE MY MONEY BACK !!!!!
